Hi.
My HTC Surround T8788 died...
It's stuck on HTC white screen... I thought it was my MicroSD card so I disassembled it and put another MicroSD; got the same results.
So, I thought... maybe a Hard Reset (Vol + and Vol - while Turning ON) but it does nothing... NO Tri Color screen.
Vol - while Power... also nothing... it just stays on HTC logo screen.
I am about to trash the freaking phone...
Actually it seems to be dead, do you have any idea?
Best Regards.
Same issue here, any help?

u probably replaced it with a SD card that isn't compatible, what did you replace it with ?
is it possible to get into the phone to flash it although it isn't entering bootloader??
The reason why ir probably won't enter bootloader it's because volume flex it's cutted...
It is very very sensitive and it's inner wires might be cut off although it is still attached to the main flex.
So, If volume keys are not working, then it won't enter bootloader. It's very easy.
Best Regards.

hello all, i need help again this time.
let's get to the point.
this morning, i tried to charge my G1 because the battery has yellow color.
when i charged the phone, after around 5 minutes, suddenly my G1 restart itself and then after the "G1" logo, the screen go all black, sometimes not all black but there's a little glitch (white-green-purple-all little colors.)
the phone got heated on the bottom part everytime i power-on it, even just on battery (not charged).
i tried "Camera + Power", it's only getting to that red-blue-green-white screen that shows :
"DREA100 PVT 32B
HBOOT - 0.95.0000
CPLD-4
Radio-2.22.23.02
Sep 2 2008
Serial0"

and it stops there for AGES . won't do anything.
i tried "Home + Power", i tried to hold down that two buttons for 25 second more, but it keeps normal boot, shows G1 logo, and then black screen again.
i tried "Menu + Power", it just the same as "Home + Power"
my G1 has never been rooted, it's all original, i haven't done any system upgrading-downgrading things.
the charger is the original one, original from htc
the battery is new, i've just changed it one month ago.
that's all the informations that i can give.
so, anyone can help me solving this problem?
if its not rooted or anything than that means its HTC's fault not yours. and since you cant access the recovery menu to flash a new rom or recover a nandroid backup, it sounds like you're up ****s creek with a turd for a paddle.... unless somebody has developed a way of flashing without recovery. in other words; get a new phone or send it in to t-mobile.
Get an SD card reader an put a DREIMG.nbh on your sdcard to downgrade to RC29 (push power+camera, select confirm), then wait for the OTA to push you to DMD64. You will loose all your data but at least your phone will work.
Alternatively, after downgrading to RC29 you can exploit the bluetooth bug to gain root access, and after that install CM5.0.8 and be twice as happy with you chunky old G1.

okay, i think i'll try this one.
just another information, i've tried another combination of buttons, such as hold down together "Call + Menu + Power" and then slide quickly to Home button, but it's giving no effect too

Call+Menu+Power is for a reboot while the phone is on lol. Only other way is "blue light mode" which is trackball and power, but I don't feel like explaining it to you=p.

Nothing is supposed to happen unless you have a JTAG afapter. And why the hell post in two different forums?

wow, i guess JTAG Adapted would be another long explanation, huh?
yes i made two posts. You know that sometimes, some people prefer to go to just specific thread/subforum, ignoring the other thread/subforum.
but who know if that people can help me?
hey, i'm back.
after days to days downloading DREAIMG.nbh again and again, finally i got the right DREAIMG.nbh, not corrupted one.
and yes, i successfully update, all stuff are signed "OK" , and then i press the action (trackball) button, restart the phone, and guess what? it turns back to the beginning problem, still. "G1" logo, and then turn to whole black screen.
so, now what?
am i bricked?
or is it hardware problem? (remember i said that everytime i turn on the phone, the down part, near sim card, is always getting heated)
the only screen that can be accessed is that rainbow screen and the update screen (Camera + Power).

im pretty sure the heat issue comes from the processor, not the sim card. mine does that too. its nothing to worry about as long as you havent overclocked your device (mine is overclocked and works great aside from gettin warm during heavy usage.) what happens when you plug the phone into usb? does it show the SD card or can you get into the android sdk? its a long shot as i doubt you can get into debug mode without having a uncorrupted os, but i guess its worth a shot.

the phone can't get into the home screen, it's always going blank after Tmobile-G1 logo.
so when i plug the phone into usb, it's just charging, no SD card recognizing on my computer.
And how can i get into Android SDK ?
Google is your best friend.

Hi guys, i am facing exact same thing which dannytgt faced (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=6707785&postcount=1)...but with no luck what so ever.....was running a stock rom in my hd2 3.14....wanted to try wp7 and did a task29....after that...hd2 doesnt go into bootloader screen....tried all possible combinations with/without sd,sim, holding vol down, vol up, both with power tapped...power holded etc etc...hd2 always goes into stick together screen and doesnt progress as there is os to load....opened up the mobile and tried with a pin to push the vol down switch directly also....all hardware keys were working gr8 (including vol down and up and power keys) whn win 6.5/android was running.
i know for the fact that this is reversable....if only my hd2 can get to bootloader...i will hv os running in a jiffy....
any ideas ppl? my hd2 is 3 months old ...no warrenty cos i bought it in US and using it in india...
bootloader dont load
some more details...tried to task29 (doloop) with 100% success and then my tmo hd2 wont go into bootscreen what ever i do...its stuck for ever in "stick together"...i know there is no os to load...but i dont understand y cant my hd2 go intobootloader
so far i tried
with holding volume down and power key with a single tap
with holding volume down and holding power key
with holding volume down, volume up and power key with a single tap
with holding volume down and reset button
with/without sim
with/without SD
with/without plug in wall charger
with/without plug to pc via usb cable
observations...when i pull out the battery and put it back in and then connect to computer when the phone is still off....the charging indicator LED glows in orange.
when in this mode if i switch the phone on with power/end key....it doent start...i have to pull the usb out, the orange LED still glows...and if i tap the power/end key nothing happenes...i have to pullout the battery to get it to start and eventually get stuck in "stick together"..
would really appriciate if any1 can help me get my hd2 into bootloader screen...
resolved the problem myself.....hd2 is working like a charm....thanks for all your support.

Good to know it got resolved. What did you do? In my case I had kept the battery out for a while and put it back in and it started getting me into bootloader with VOL down and Power key.

if you feel this helped...thank me
my phone hang with wite htc logo.i tride to hard reset,i faild.i could not put the device in boot loader mode.please help me. thank you
additional details please?
like what did you do before it starts to hang at boot screan, what hacks do you have installed e.e. magldr, hspl, sspl ??
those would really help
by the way you sure you cannot boot into bootloader the tri-colour screen?
To put the device into bootloader mode,
hold the volume down button and press the reset button, or else, switch off the phone (by removing battery), hold the volume down button while you switch it on. This must take you to the tricolor bootloader.
The stuck might have caused due to improper flash or something which doesn't match, a bad radio or so.
Its important for you to get into the bootloader, to flash either from Sync or SD Card.
All the best.

So, you said you cant go into bootloader mode.
How about retry it but following this way.
-Remove your battery and wait for minutes (maybe 10 minutes)
-Reinsert the battery. Dont turn it on.
-Charge your phone and check whether the phone is charging (you should check the led indicator. if it is full, the color should be green).
-After that, press volume down button and power on button at the same time (dont miss it).
-If you still cant go into bootloader mode, I would suggest you to bring it to Repair center.
Goodluck
I see, its not going into the bootloader, so can the problem be with the volume buttons? Are you sure they are functional?
Is your phone turning on, getting to the HTC logo and then turning off again by itself? This was happening to me just tonight. Just try putting the battery in the freezer for 20 minutes or so. That did the trick for me.
hello
thanks guys,i tried every thingas you said.no use.so i took the device to service center.they told me that, the only thing is to recover the phone is replacing the mother board.it is costing nearly 200 usd.

Which one was it a bad connection with your processor from overheating or machanical shock, or was it a bad NAND chip? These are the two things I was thinking as I have been following this thread.

i think it is because bad nand chip.
Was the phone functional before? What OS you had?
I've seen this on about 3-4 of the over 75 HD2's I've JTAG'ed. It's a faulty NAND chip that overheats causing this problem. Unfortunately, there is no logical fix for this.
i was charged my hd2 and it never waked up.only a black screen.anyone can help me?
Wrong section. please move this thread to the Q&A section.
Have you tried removing battery?
When this thread is moved (and it surely will be moved) the people that will try to help you will need more information than "i was charged my hd2 and it never waked up."
What happened?
What were you doing at the time? Did you try to put a new rom on it?
What did you do to try and 'fix' it?
yes but nothing.i wasnt do anything.i just put my phone for charge.when i tried to open it it didnt worked.just a black screen.i tried the red button the up volume way but nothing.

You have to hold the volume down button AND the power button at the same time in order to get to the screen with the three colours (bootloader screen)
nothing.it seems like the buttery to be dead.maybe is butterys problem?or there is a chance the screen to be burned?
If you can get into bootloader then all is not lost - get out of there and direct your browser to this link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1090783
Read carefully before continuing. I suggest you start with a wipe (task29) then install MAGLDR - BUT ONLY IF YOU HAVE ALREADY PLAYED AROUND WITH NAND ROMS. If your phone is still a Windows Mobile device rather study this section before you do ANYTHING!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=905841
And one final word of warning - if you still have your phone under warranty (or it is insured), take it back to the shop to have it fixed before you do anything that could void this.
...and maybe it is as simple as the battery just died?
i cant get into bootloader.the phone is dead.i have to try a new buttery and we'll see.thanks anyway

Funny,
mine goes to bootloader without having to hold the power button down.

Did you manage to charge the phone at all?
Do you have a spare battery or battery charger?
Are your pins bent?
If your battery is dead and you cannot charge it,try this:

Hi there people.
my phone is bricked. i can't even get to the TRI COLOR bootloader screen for HSPL.
there's no response with the power button adn the volume key.
i'm basically trying to ask this:
is there anyway to reinstall the very CORE-FIRMWARE of the hd2? that is, reinstall even the tricolor screen itself. because for somereason there's no way to the tricolor screen, the hd2 just won't power on.
thanks for the help .
What a bad situation ... But don't worry ... use JTAG ...

Dear friend ... I think you can make it using a JTAG Box ... if you search in the net , you can find many manufacturers which sell / give JTAG service ... that's it ... Good luck

First, check the battery pins aren't bent.
Checked everything
Hi.
i seem to have checked everything when it comes to getting it to power on.
but it won't.
1. checked battery pins,
2. tried freezing.
3. tried reseting,
4. hard resetting.
5. charged the battery from an outside source. nothing wrong with battery.
the phone detects in windows, even when it is powered off.
it says so with the MY HTC drivers,
is there anything i can do with the phone with the phone not powering on, but IS detected in windows.
in other words, what i need is some sort of OFFLINE FLASHER. something that'll flash the phone without turning it on.
hope ya'll can help. there's obviously something i'm missing. you know how it is, sometimes you just miss something and it's right there in front of you........ where did i put my car keys?
thanks.
