Hey guys!
I have updated my gt540 from original 2.1 (without fastboot) to 2.3.2 (cyanogen mod 7.0.0 with all stuff that was needed). Since update from 1.6 to 2.1 and then to 2.3.2 I have problems with my sd card. It's Kingston 16gb micro sdhc card. I often get messages "Sd card unexpectedly removed" and then "mounting" immediately after turning on screen. The problem is, that (I think) it happens this removal happens sometimes during preparing card for android and it has made my sd card useless (needed to reformat it, losing all data). This is getting annoying, because of my data and 7gb of music I need to copy every time it's broken, and it happens once-twice every month. I checked slot for sd and put a piece of paper to push card further. Didn't work. So my first question: is it because of android or hardware? Or maybe sd card is too big for this phone?
And another question: is it possible to "revert" my phone to original 2.1 without fastboot?(To make phone look not altered by me [guarantee]) (Of course by 'revert' I mean installing new rom from lg).
I'm little tired with this 2.3.2, it's sometimes rebooting without reason and this particular rom has many apps I don't need.
Also will themes, that are posted here (for 2.1) work with fabric 2.1?
And if not, could you show me a clean rom which will work fast? Also, working radio is appreciated.
Clean ROM
Well... Here's a clean ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1182804
Do you want fastboot after flashing the Stock 2.1 ROM?
I had similar problems with card on earlier versions of 2.3.x. I would recommend trying SwiftDroid, it has Android 2.3.5 and some tweaks for SD cards. Since installing that ROM I hadn't a single issue with storage.
Size of the card shouldn't be a matter, because GT540 can use up to 32 GB.
Clean ROMs
Clean ROMs doesn't always mean it's faster. I could be at some times. You could mod CM7 to bypass the speed of a clean ROM. Swiftdroid is not a clean ROM unlike AOSP Froyo which is "Pure Android". I've heard that AOSP Froyo has better battery performance than Swiftdroid, but I'm not sure :/

I'll give froyo a try and then, if problem persists I'd want to flash it to stock 2.1 without fastboot and maybe I'll give it to service.
After I flash it to 2.2 you posted what should I do to get rid of fastboot? Just run lg update which will do everything?
ed: Wait, is fastboot just an application for windows and it's by default on every device and I got it wrong with clockwork mod?
Fastboot
Fastboot is used on a device from a computer. You can't use fastboot without a device with fastboot. There's no fastboot on the LG GT540's stock ROM. You need to flash a Fastboot ROM to use fastboot from your computer. Clockwork Recoverymod is a modification to your device that can enable you to flash and backup your ROMs without the need of a computer.
Hello!
Sorry, I speak little english.
My telephone does not perceive the SDcard. Somebody would help me? ROM 2.1 original.
Thank you for the help!

Do you mean that the 'Phone' app can't read your SD card.
Isn't everything used by the 'Phone' application on the Stock 2.1 ROM from the internal memory?
Yes, the phone does not detect the SDcard.
I can not install applications on the card as if it were not for a SDcard.
Dismount
You can take out your SD card and put it back in. See if that does anything.

It also has been trying. Several cards we tried already.
Physical problem
It could be a physical problem, you should go to the place you bought it from and tell them to fix it. You could try re-flashing a ROM and see what happens.

Defect
Hmm... maybe it's problem with the SD card tray. You should take it to the store.

Hey guys,
Since I've had my Nook Color (installed CM7 as soon as I got it), I've never been able to connect to my wifi, I always thought it was my router's fault. The other day I got my girlfriend one, and installed cm9 on it for her. It connected to wifi straight away and browsed the internet with no problem. I thought maybe CM9 thus had a fix for wifi and installed it on mine, but alas, still no internet Has anyone had problems with their wifi on the Nook and been able to fix it? I REALLY want to connect, I just don't know what else I can do. Would messing with the partitions possibly cause this? It's definitely my Nook that is the problem, cause I did the EXACT same installation of CM9 on both of them, and only my wifi isn't working properly. Also, mine tends to freeze quite often on CM9, and hers does not?
ANY help will be really appreciated!!
Thanks,
Rudi

See if you can go back to stock and set up wifi first, then install CM.
Look here for how to do it easily:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=25405429
Sent from my Nook Color running ICS and Tapatalk
I've got some new information:
1) If I triple boot using this method:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1448186
Then my wifi works.
2) If I revert back to stock, then my wifi works.
3) BUT if I try to install to emmc using this method:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1030227
Then it doesn't work??
Does that give any clues to why it isn't working? I really want to install Cm7 internally than on the SD card. Also, my girlfriend's nook runs CM9 smoothly, mine keeps freezing
Thanks for the help so far, really appreciate it!

Are you doing a factory reset with your CWM card before you flash CM to emmc? The freezing makes it sound like your old data is carrying over.
Yea, I've done a few factory resets by holding in the n key when powering on. I've also cleared the Dalvik cache, /data and /system in Recovery.

What version of CWM are you using to do the clearing of /data? You must use version 3.2.0.1 or newer or /data will not clear properly on the newer Nooks.

The reason the bootable cards are working is because they start with a clean /data. The reason stock works is because the /data is setup properly to run with stock. I still believe there is stuff carrying over in the /data on emmc. I don't know more to tell you other than to keep trying to clear /data on emmc with CWM. Watch for error messages when you do.
You are using the CWM on the bootable SD from the eyeballer thread aren't you? Not the one on the dual boot card or emmc?
aphiFnt jot
It's weird though, because I've been clearing it constantly for like 3 days trying to fix it. Maybe I need a later version of CWM? Where can one find the latest version?
The filename of the one I'm using at the moment is: "1gb_clockwork-3.2.0.1-eyeballer.img"

I'm still on the triple boot on SD (on which the wifi was working), but now when I turned the screen on from sleeping, the wifi isn't working anymore! It just goes "scanning....connectng...disconnected" and loops like that. I've tried forgetting the connection, and turning my wifi off and back on again, but it's still not working. What on earth is going on with my Nook??

CM9 tends to do that. Try CM7.... You know it may be your nook is defective somehow.
That IS with CM7 Flip, I hope it's not a problem with the actual Nook, cause there's 0% chance of getting another any time in the near future. It also often freaks out, as if it is getting many ghost touches. I have to turn off the screen fror a while to fix that. This is such a downer
ps, I can't seem to figure out how to use that new CWM. I'm used to making a bootable SD with the eyeballer IMG file, but this one is just a zip. How do I use it to make the bootable SD? Sorry if it's a dumb question, but I really don't understand

OK, that zip was meant for flashing to your emmc. If you want to use it in a bootable SD follow these instuctions. Put eyeballers SD in your PC. Unzip the downloaded racks CWM zip. There will be two files in the root, uRecImg and uRecRam. Copy those to the SD. On the SD will be two other files, uImage and uRamdisk. Rename those to .bak. Then rename uRecImg to uImage and uRecRam to uRamdisk. Now you can remove the SD and put in the nook and boot. You should now have the new 5+ CWM.
Thanks I'm still a bit confused though, don't you make a bootable CWM SD so that you can boot into CWM from the sd card and THEN flash CM7 or CM9 to your Nook? How would I flash CWM to emmc?

Use the 3.2.0.1 card to flash the new Racks CWM. It will put it on emmc for use later. Then you can boot to it directly using the keys at boot time. It's been so long since I have used stock I can't remember the key combinations. Or you can flash CM7 to emmc with 3.2.0.1 and use the boot menu that comes with CM7 to boot to emmc recovery, which is now 5+. Then you can use that to wipe /data or flash new ROMs.
Hey again Last night I tried for quite a while to get that CWM5 to work, by making an eyeballer boot sd, then putting those two files in the CWM5 zip in place of the existing ones. But when I turn the Nook on, it just hangs at the CWM loading screen (with the 2 skulls)?
My system started as a 1.3 NC, that I successfully rooted using nooter, but a year ago last Oct ( 2011 ) and OTA update removed my rooting. After a couple weeks, someone posted a "fix" that restored my root access, but also bocked the OTA update.
A few weeks ago, I screwed up and mistakenly tried to install a Android Market update, and it BROKE my system. So I desided that this was a great time to update the NC to it's current OS level ( 1.4.3 ) and tried to follow the instructions on restoring the NC to "factory" fresh state... but thats where it started to go wrong!
Using the clockwork recovery sdcard I used to root the system, it FAILED to erace / format the Data area, probubly because I "fixed" it when I had the problem over a year ago with the OTA update.
Now no matter who's instructions I follow, I can't get that data section deleted so I can restore the system,
What I want to do restore/update the NC to current level, and THEN to reroot.
Currenly, the ONLY way I can use the NC is with the newest N2A image on a sdcard, but there is a huge speed penalty that way!
Can ANYONE help!
Thanks in Advance!
Tom

Did as suggested, created the card ( CWM-6.0.1.2-bootable_SD ) and loaded the "nookcolor_1_4_3_signed.zip" onto it.
Was successful in formatting the system , boot and cashe AND the Data directory! Restarted CWM and was able to run the 1.4.3 zip completely. Rebooted from CWM menu after removing the SD card from the NC....
...but now the NC hangs at the "N" screen.
So, what did I do wrong? What next?
Thanks in advance!

First off... a HUGE Thank You!
It looks like it's back to my pre-rooted NC.... so, if I understand this correcly, it's NOT rooted, and I still have to do that.
Any suggestions of the best rooting utility?

Hi leapinlar and tomsheeley,
Due to 10 posts rule I cannot reply to eyeballer's thread (I'll send him a pm instead). tomsheeley might try TWRP 2.3.1.0 after he root his NC as more friendly. Today I tried to upgrade to TWRP 2.4.1.0 available in #129 post. The problem I had with fixing permissions was solved by deleting the folder emmc/TWRP using a root explorer (I use Root Browser Lite free from market).
The problem is common I think with SGS+ and I found it by watching this thread.
Thanks and sorry for posting here but watching that you are posting in fattire's thread and I think my feedback might helps.
Hi,
So I got my girlfriend this gift basically right when it came out. I rooted it, and flashed CM 7.1 RC1 (literally came out that day) a long time ago.
She gave it to me yesterday to get her PDF's on there. I opened the market and nothing would pop up except for the like 5 total apps, while the Browser was working 100% fine. I go to my apps in the market and try downloading updates and they kept failing. I was frustrated, so I downloaded the latest Cyanogen Nightly and Gapps. I updated CWM to 6.0.3.1, then made a backup of the existing ROM. I went into recovery, and tried finding the Nightly and Gapps I downloaded, but the SD Card would never mount. I'm not sure how I can fix this.
Please help, thanks a ton!

Since you did it so long ago, do you remember if you installed the CM7 to emmc or SD? That may be your issue.
And how did you get 6.0.3.1? Rom Manager? That may be your issue too.

Do you need the SD inserted for it to boot to your CM7? If so, you installed to SD and with an SD installation, you do not use CWM to install upgrades. That is why you cannot see the zip you downloaded. If you want to upgrade a CM7 SD install to CM10, you need to start over with a newly burned SD. The old SD setup is not compatible with CM10. Use my guide linked in my signature.
You might just want to put CM10 on internal memory, replacing whatever is there. Just download the new CM zip to emmc with CM7, boot to emmc CWM, remove the SD, wipe data/factory reset and flash the new CM zip using the "install from SD/choose from internal memory" option. Then you need to flash the right gapps to match. Then reboot. Once you are sure everything is working, you can format your old SD with SDFormatter so it can be used as a normal data SD. Get it free on the web.

Hi, I'm a moron. I accidentally dragged some files that I meant to put in a different window onto my Nook's internal storage, and now I can't boot past "Read Forever"—it doesn't even continue to the N, shuts back down to black. It does this whether or not the SD card is in. Since I put CWM on it, now I can't restore from the 8 boot attempts, but I also can't seem to restore from anything else on the SD card.
I just erased everything on the card and put stock NC 1.2 on it, but I still have no luck booting up the NC to it.
How do I fix this? I can't even mount the NC on a computer to delete the files. (They were .just 2 zip files of CM10 and Google Apps.)
Hey, just to clarify, by "internal storage" I mean the same space where you can sideload files.

Yeah, it was put into that space called "MyNook" (or such) where you can add other files. I also don't know what is going wrong, and I'm confused. I had just used uNooter and then CWM, and was going to load CM10 and GApps but I have not been able to boot beyond "Read Forever" since they were dragged to that internal drive.
I just put on the bootable CWM and a stock zip to the SD card but apparently now my Nook needs to charge before I can see if it works.

I found uNooter through the CyanogenMod wiki page for the NC. (I am not allowed to post URLs, apparently.) I followed that page and got as far as replacing the stock recovery, with everything working fine. Then I ran into issues with getting ADB to work with Terminal, so I never got CM10 or GApps onto the SD card. I dragged them to the internal storage and when I tried to reboot into the stock Nook, it didn't work. (I was able to reboot after rooting and replacing stock recovery before this, both with and without the SD card, there was only a problem after the files went onto the internal storage.)

It was not putting those files on internal memory that caused the issue. Something else happened with the uNooter after you installed it.

Thanks, I will be trying the NC partition repair next. It seems to be ignoring the bootable CWM & stock zip entirely (or at least it will not boot at all) despite being fully charged.
EDIT: It looks like I spoke too soon! I'm now able to boot into CWM after leaving the NC sitting around for a few hours! I restored the ROM, put on stock 1.4.1, then did 8 failed boots and went back down to 1.2.0.
So, now I am now to 100% stock and debating my next steps.
