I want to change my stock rom to new one. I examine many roms and i decide, there are two stable roms. According to your opinion which one is better?
not sure but in one video on U tube i saw ideos x5 benchmark 2900 score
it had miui rom i guess it is very hard to beat that score
i guess i would try the miui rom
any other opinions very welcome
MIUI has a beautiful UI. Oxygen has a Cyanogen experience. The performance of both ROM seems not too much difference. My choice is MIUI because I like to have a beautiful UI while using it.
I would go forOxygen if I was you. It has the best performance and battery usage. Also screen sensors are the currently faster (at least for my phone) than in any other 2.3.5 rom. So for pure performance go for Oxygen. For eye-candy go for Miui.
Oxygen for me
Oxygen here also
O2! O2!o2!o2!o2!o2!o2!
Oxygen R1 is better

does our cm7 port support official cm7 themes?
Oxygen, supports cm7' s theme manager themes too.
Just need to take thememanager.apk and themechooser.apk from cm7 rom and push them to /system/app folder. I've tested it and works.

Nice..mind to pack it and share this 2 file only?
Between,do wondering how well Miui vs Oxygen.
any 1 mind to write a review for the latest release comparison?
with/without FrancoKernel
I am using Oxygen r1 currently,since i am a maximum performance cultist.
Really wondering whats is some advantages/disadvantages compare to Oxygen for MIUI?
i switched form oxygen to cm7 a couple of days ago, i must say that i don't see any difference performance wise
My vote goes to MIUI!
I tested oxygen,cm7 and miui my choice is MIUI..! really sexy UI
If you want the UI, go for MIUI, if you want performance and stability, go for oxygen. I prefer oxygen
I'm rocking the OXYGEN R1 rom
tilt sensor is very important for me. Which one has better tilt sensor for games etc?
Just tested the latest Roms available and based on my phone's hardware, I've got this:
- CM7 110821 - Very good battery usage - 55h, relatively good BT, but had some 3G data connection problems, sensor lag after a while.
- Miui 1.8.26 (28/8/11) - Good battery usage - 45h (not as good as O2 or CM7), excellent graphics, relatively good BT, but had some 3G data connection problems, no sensor lag.
- Oxygen 2.2.2 r1 - Very good battery usage - 51h, weak BT, no problems with 3G data connections, no sensor lag.
Overall, Oxygen is the best, in less you really need BT...

After flashing several custom roms like darkky, goatrip, insanity, simple honey etc. i feel juwe's rom to be the fastest and gives me good battery life. i'm not saying that the other roms are poor, just that juwe's rom is really good(my opinion). check it out and lemme know what u think!!.

Thanks to all the developers who have made sgs into a super phone.!!
While I agree that Juwe's ROM is very good, I went on to try other ones for a very simple (and subjective) reason: the theme.
Beauty always lies in the eye of the beholder so this is actually not an argument against Juwe's ROM but rather a statement of a subjective fact.
Currently I have found my thrill with Tweaky ROM v3.1 and it looks like it will stay on my phone for quite a while.
I used doc roms for a while and loved it strongly : fast, stable and personalized.
Then i tried CyanogenMod 7... and now I can't imagine going back to a Sammy based rom. Try it if you dare, you will be surprised!
BTW I have yet to try MIUI which is CM7 based...

I agree very, very nice rom. But Darky's rom 10 and Goatrip 1.9 are up there as well. I like how Goatrip has Goa tool to add and remve stuff. This is a great feature.
Problem with Darky is that's an RC and the extreme version that's final is still an Eclair...
i love darky's tho, but for now i'm using Juwe's as well.

I'm running the latest MIUI and it's brilliant. It's like a whole new phone. All the benefits of CM7 AOSP, with an added touch of elegant and professional UI design and convenience. Think... iOS, but with all the good stuff from Android mixed in. It's beautiful! I highly recommend it.
It's also updated very frequently, so any bugs are quickly ironed out, as well as new features being added every Friday. It's based of CM7, which is based off of AOSP, rather than Samsung, so they update to the latest Android release very quickly, for all the new goodies straight from Google. Currently at 2.3.4.
miui has some features that dont work that efficiently as of yet.. but having said that i love the miui music player!!
1. Darky is always the fastests for me.
2. Crinkelo, i flashed it every version. In my opinion its a little bit slower.
I dont know maybe because of its theme.
3. Goatrip, only Rom fc for me.
4. Andromedia, very beautiful Rom.
5. Sweet honey. Fine.
6. Wizrom 2. I liked very much. I could not flash version 3 though.
7. F1 Rom is also very good rom.
8. The best beautiful themed rom is Poppuri. Check it, you wont search for any other theme.

I don't understand what you're saying by Darky's ROM is Eclair? That's 2.1.
Darky 9.5 Extreme is Froyo and I found it to be pretty good, stable too.
(I think that the final gingerbread 2.3.3 hasn't come out yet so all the roms are RCs ?...)
I've tried Juwe's 4.1 before and it was good. Problem is I'm still hunting around so I'm finding it difficult to stick with one rom for a long period.

Oh, you mean that ROM in which *** CAMERA *** does not work, *** FM RADIO *** does not work, *** COMPASS *** does not work and things like that?
No, thanks, a ROM has to be feature complete before trying to add speed or bling-bling. I'm not going to use a ROM that cannot use all the hardware in my phone.
Darky released v10 final.
I've tried a few roms (Ultimate, Darky, Doc, etc.) but stayed with Doc's the longest. When JVK came out, it took a while for the the ROM makers to come out with a bug free release so I tried Ramad's deodexed stock rom. I was quite happy with it. And so, I haven't touched a custom rom since. Currently, I'm on a deodexed JVH (courtesy of Ramad) with Nick502's TW4/SGS2 mod (I love the new email app). I've even gone back to using the ugly glass lockscreen of Samsung because of the Music Player widget. I haven't really noticed much difference in performance between the custom ROMS I've tried and a plain deodexed one, although, I felt the earlier Darky releases (2.2 froyo) were quite bloated. Admittedly, besides some of the stock apps, I've installed maybe 15-20 other apps from the market.... so that may go some way to explaining why performance was mostly similar.

I have gone from Juwe's 4.2 to Tweaky Rom JVH v2 and battery life (18hours +) has improved so much while keeping it running fast and smooth and I love the TW4 on Tweaky's Rom too! I have used Fuguroot and I am on Voodoo recovery, which incidentally has improved battery life in my case!

Relatively new to the G2, and I'm looking for a daily driver without having to experiment with 10 roms that all have one deal-breaking bug.
I like sense, which is good because it looks like pretty much all of the recent roms are sense or miui. I really wanted to have a sense 3.0/3.5 with 3d widgets, but it doesn't look like there are any stable, fast roms in this department.
So what's your go-to rom? I probably will start experimenting with all the newer roms anyway, but I want to get set up with a stable fallback first.
Thanks
As far as an AOSP ROM goes, I believe that meXdroidMod is hands down the fastest thing I've ever installed and it also has great developer support too. Here recently I've been all about MIUI so right now I'm running tun4fish's Bulletproof Miui. I'm in love with the speed and stability of this rom and the amount of customization you can do with it.
All in all it all boils down to personal preference. I like flashy, customizable roms so those two fit me. Play around and see what's right for you

I switch between CM7 and Beatmod Blissense. I prefer a more pure android, but I do like the UI and widgets in Beatmod.
Been running Bulletproof MIUI the last couple weeks. Solid daily driver with all the features I need and no issues.
When I get bored, I switch back/forth between CM7 and MIUI.
Been a meXdroidMod convert for awhile now. Really really fast and everythings smooth! Developer support is awesome too!
I started out with trying Virtuous Unity and Virtuous Doubleshot but found the Sense 3.0 ROMs were to slow for my DZ.
Settled for Virtuous Sense for the time being which is perfect for me. Also tried out Bulletproof MIUI just to try something completely different but that was definitely not for me so I returned to Virtuous Sense.

MIUI would be my daily driver. Speedy while still looking absolutely beautiful. Either of the builds by CarpeNoctem or Tuna4fish would serve you well
lots of love for MIUI here
as much as I like it too the OP said he likes Sense, so for me after trying absolutely every ROM with Sense, i like the InsertCoin. It has the battery and speed of your 2.1 Sense ROM but all the cool features of Sense 3.
I'd like to stress on the battery life - it's absolutely fantastic on InsertCoin.

After using the CLIQ, Milestone, SGS, SGSII, Desire Z ... I just want to clarify a few things.
The original stock roms are great but have no root, sometimes lag, lack a few things, and occasionally have poor software for drivers/devices (refer to the Galaxy S and GPS problem).
THE MOST STABLE ROMS are definitely the custom roms for all different devices which still have the original skin (Sense, Blur, TouchWizz) because they fix what was broken and leave what isn't. But those roms usually miss additional functions of other roms (eg wifi calling) and have distasteful ux (Blur).
The the early cyanogen mods and the beta/nightlies are very unstable. Gives you the most powerful features and the latest software, but usually breaks a few things doing it.
The stable CyanogenMod Roms are much better, and they can even get to the same [perfect] stability as the custom roms. Usually there is one or two minor bugs.
MIUI is CyanogenMod but with its own Skin and Applications (Media player, File Explorer, Browser, Theme Engine) which are one of the best (if not THE BEST). MIUI is also like CyanogenMod has two forms: stable and beta.
ALL STABLE MIUI ROMs HAVE perfect stability (from what Ive experienced) so its definitely a notch above Cyanogen. But the Beta roms are usually filled with more bugs and issues than the Cyanogen Nightlies.
My recommendation:
Use "custom roms" basically only kernel changes (root, faster, battery life etc).
When a CyanogenMod (stable) appears use that.
When a MIUI ROM (stable) appears then upgrade to that.
... finally add in the Homescreen and Launcher of your choice.
edit: With the custom roms the S-Pen functionality should be there. But the early CyanogenMod Roms and MIUI ROMs WILL NOT have the feature. But its likely they'll get added in afterwards. To me that's a big deal, and I'll be waiting for a stable MIUI ROM with the S-Pen function

In the past 3 days I installed CM7 on a SGS2 and SGS1 and everything went fine and the performance? Simply amazing! Let's not forget the looks.
I tested AnTuTu on the SGS2 @1.4 and got a score of 6346! That's more of what the guy got(6324) @1.6 that the GSMArena 2x performance ICS article showed. Simply great stuff.
There are many GREAT Developers out there. It comes down to stability/performance and personal preferences.
I've tried several sense roms but i don't like them personally. I'm currently on Android Revolution HD and i want to try something new. Is there a good CM7 or AOSP rom which is good in interface, small in size and with great battery life?
Thanks in advance
This is a subjective matter, but try these two:
BlackICE - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1298283
and
Ultimate Ace - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1341251
I also recommend BlackICE or if you want to try Maffia, with Maffia my battery once survived 58 hours , also with BlackIce your battery can survive for 2 days, but the ICS Theme in Maffia is not 100% working so you may not like that and BlackICE had a simple stylish dark theme, and has more features and some more tweaks.
Here are my suggestions, Absolution, BBmod and Black Ice
+1 on Black Ice.
Loving the higher res look and feel. The performance is excellent and its very stable and smooth. Recently tried a sense ROM and within 12 hours came back!
I used to use MIUI a lot (especially when I had my desire). I've had my HD less than a month and loving it.
For further interface tweaks install a different launcher. I use GO Launcher EX
Try CM7.1(nightly) with ICS theme
Fast, smooth, and looks great !
Add Go Launcher EX with ICS theme to make it complete.
I havent tried Black Ice yet.
All of these are good, in my experience:
Maffia 0.1.7 (still in a slightly early/embryonic state, though)
BlackIce 1.23
Absolution 2.0
CM7.1
Helios 0913
There are still a couple I haven't tried, but which look like winners, such as:
Ultimate Ace
BBMod
There is a beta called talon in the talon kernel thread in the inspire forums. It's very good.
Sent from my Inspire 4G using Tapatalk
there is another one that you could try: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1348425

best regards
+1 for the Cyanogenmod 7.1

You could try CM7.1. its great.
Another option is MIUI Freshly squeezed. Its very light and can be a daily use rom.
my 2 cents..
You could try Hydrogen... 63.5 MB total size if i remember correctly....
Others already mentioned... Cyanogen, BlackIce...
MIUI's been very very stable for me.. .never gave me any problems whatsoever... but hey.. to each one his own..
Cyanogenmod? Good battery life?
lol.
i don't have a good alternative for you, but cyanogen is defenitive not that, what you are looking for :3
The Oxygen port which has appeared very recently is the smallest and fastest ROM I've ever used. Testing overall battery life now, but the drain is awesome with any recent LordModUE kernel (sleeps at 3mA within a couple of minutes).
The speed is ridiculous.

+ 1 for Freshly Squeezed MIUI
I have also tried Cyanogen and the new ICS port from BeatMod. Cyanogen doesn't interest me too much, but the ICS port is cool although lacking in functionality right now.
Been using Freshly Squeezed for a couple of weeks and it is dramatically different then the other stock ROM's (looks iPhone-ish), but some of the extras really make it a good option.
My favourite features of Miui:
- SMS pop-up notification, allows you to respond to an sms within another app
- Long-Press close apps - long press back in an app to end the task
- Weekly ROM updates
i get great battery and performance on MIUI ROM's downloaded from miui.us nowhere else
Hi
Currently Im on Cyanogenmod 7.2.0 RC1 nightly 414 and while OK, the other day it had a HORRIBLE (unbearable) slowdown period. Even multiple restarts didnt help. Finally it seems it fixed itself but Ive looking for something new. I use Go Launcher if that makes any difference. Im into speed but I think Im going to go with stable over speed this time.
What ROM do you recommend? Also nothing broken (automatically discards all CM9 ROMs)
If you are into Sense UI, go for Virtuous ROM, stock ROM tweaked + enhancements. If CM7 works if you are into vanilla ROMs.
I have been using virtuous glite 2.0.1 its stable I had no issues at all and I get great battery life, plus its slightly overclocked. Gslim1.6 is also very good but I had better battery life with glite. Both roms are based on GB 2.3.4. Here is a good rom index thread it lists all G2-Desire Z roms

Damn I'm still happily running it! If it works great why worry how old it is. It's a testament to how well it works as it sits. anyways I'm waiting for a stable cyanogen 9. Then maybe, frankly I don't want to mess with it too much I want plain Android and I can customize it from there

You cannot say "Sense", "stable" and "speed" in the same sentence.

I don't think you have tried much of the Sense ROMs back then, or maybe you were doing something wrong. I have had quite a few stable and fast sense ROMs. Of course they were not as fast as vanilla ones, but it works, knowing that you are the type who wants more features in ROMs.

What ROM do you recommend? Also nothing broken (automatically discards all CM9 ROMs)

Have you tried a CM9 Rom lately? Don't let the Beta name scare you, I have found the latest andromadus audacity extremely reliable, and everything works. I actually think it has less bugs then my stock htc GB rom.

sound like you will be most happy with elitemod, the cm7 based rom although i have been testing out nik3r's ics rom and like it better than most ics roms, i would go with his gingerbread rom. should be all you are looking for and great support from nik3r as well

Same, though I'm still tweaking my SetCPU settings and such, I like EliteMod's ICS rom the most right now particularly in terms of features and responsiveness. I was trying the unofficial CM9beta13 for a couple days and that thing was eating battery like no-body's business. EliteMod seems to be much more tweaked as it's the same setup Nik3r is using for his own personal Desire-Z.
But far as stability goes, I would agree that going with a Ginger rom would be the best bet, ICS right now is still too experimental in my opinion.
I've never tried the CM7 version of EliteMod, only the official CM 7.2.0 which was ok-ish for me. The EliteMod ICS Rom to me feels much faster and responsive than even the stock CM7rom, and I much prefer QuickPix app the EliteMod uses over that slow-arse Gallery app in CM7.
I would recommend andromadus mimicry (ics) its pretty stable and everything works (for me at least). It has the ics specific flaws like scrambled text in app drawer but launcher restart fixes it. Using this rom for 2 weeks and had this text issue 1 time. Battery is good also

You should try Elitemod cm7 it has never failed me, all the features you need, speed and stabiity plus amaizing battery life. If you wanna go ICS get the cm9 elitemod, but it is still a bit buggy.
I tried a lot of roms, and I always came back to ILWT CM7 (not new versions). Sense roms are quite good but not on Desire Z (too small amount of ram memory, multitasking on sense roms are poor - even on sense 2.1 roms with supercharger script). I waiting for stable CM9 (and yes i tried all versions of CM9 but text glitches and manually change apn to send/receives mms, makes me nervous).
That is only my subjective opinion
Anything CM7 based is very stable. Probably the most stable of all. Stay away from CM9 or anything ICS on this phone for another few months in terms of stability.

I can only vouch for my own experiences but I find cm9 very stable, perfect for a daily.

Going to install the Beta14 right now, the ALPHA 1 month ago had a lot of issues... but that was 1 month ago. Will post back...
Try Quadrasense! Not true that rom based on CM9 is not stable....
Quadrasense is very fast and stable
inviato da HTC Desire Z
For most stable overall rom I would recommend the latest ILWT CM7. For most stable ICS rom I would recommend the Andromadus Mimicry rom.
