UCKH3 Heimdall-One-Click [beta] - Captivate Android Development

This is UCKH3 packaged in Heimdall One-Click Format. Run it at your own risk. I am placing it here because I need a place to store the link on mediafire
http://files.teamkomin.com/Captivate/SGH-i897-UCKH3-One-Click.jar
As of today, this is the latest, greatest semi-official, leaked firmware for the Captivate--3SEP11
If anyone wants to try it out, go ahead, please leave feedback.
No time to do a full release thread about this right now... Working on the UnBrickable Mod platform and this file is required to finish the job.

Could you do a UCKH3 instead?

DIdn't realize there was a newer one. Yes. I'll get right on that.

Hi thanks for this, im just about to try it now. Hows KH3 going?

Summary: It kinda worked. I get garbled video with the camera and on bootup after the Samsung Galaxy animation.
Process:
I started on a semi-recent CM7.1 Nightly (90-ish).
I flashed to stock using AIO Captivate Toolkit. That got me to JF6. Note all download modes are initiated using USB jig.
As soon as I verified a good boot into stock, I fired up Heimdall One-Click, put the phone into Download mode and clicked the magic button...
It flashes, reboots, but then gets stuck at the white AT&T boot screen. No progress for many, many minutes. I get desperate and tried to shut it off. In the process, the phone reboots and begins what appears to be a normal boot process. This boot completes, but I'm left with the aforementioned artifacts - the camera doesn't work and I get garbled graphics on boot. Also, the phone feels laggy as heck.
I'm guessing I may have prematurely interrupted the initial boot process. To be honest, I wasn't tracking time, so I don't know if it was only 5 minutes or 15. I just know it didn't seem right and much, much slower than flashing to stock JF6 was.
I'm going to try a more conventional Odin flash to see if I get better results.

This did not include the params.lfs. I did not realize it at the time I released it. I will include a better version soon. I just needed something quick to support this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1242466

Sorry, I can't release UCKH3, it's missing files. I'll see about other versions...

You can pull the missing files from KF1. That's what I did when I flashed KH3 when I managed to messup my phone playing around with Heimdall 1.3.0...
Guessing the missing files weren't updated so they weren't included with the exception of the primary bootloader.

Updated to UCHK3 with missing files from UCKF1. This is the latest, greatest Samsung firmware as of today.

Whats wrong
This might be a noob question but what am I doing wrong? I make it executable but it does nothing. I am running Ubuntu 10.10

Odin is for windows. Heimdall is the linux equivalent. So the file in the op probably won't help you on ubuntu.

Right click and open with java... or run from command line java -jar mydownloadedfile.jar

Is anyone else having problems with running the KH3 version on Windows? When I try and run it I get -- "Invalid or Corrupt jarfile" and it closes.
I tried downloading 3 times to rule out corrupt download, and the previous KF1 version ran fine so I don't think it's my Java implementation.

I'm uploading a new one now, ETA 25 minutes.

The one from this morning was about 150 some odd megs, and the re-up over 200. This one seems to load up fine!

Does this include bootloaders?
Thanks!

There is a option to flash bootloaders. If you want them you will have to flash twice.as far as i know

OK. Comes up now. My first Heimdall flash coming soon!

I'm on stock froyo, kb1, flashed to it using this: heimdall at&t stock firmware package. Can i flash UCKH3 that Adam linked in the OP over this? Is it enough to click on bottom left button (details), then write true in the Flash column to the IBL+PBL, SBL, PARAM rows to flash bootloaders too? Thanks for the answers!

[Q] odin to froyo 2.2!??????

This may sound like a very dumb question but i am just now getting into the different things i can do with my phone. One of which is i have rooted it and installed clock work manager. I have seen A LOT of people talking about odin and using it to install froyo 2.2 on their phone. I was just wondering how you actually go about getting odin on your phone, or is it something installed on your computer to transfer files to your phone? my main objective of all of this is just to have froyo 2.2 finally installed on my phoneso if anyone could please give me the run down on this and the info i need to install 2.2 on my phone, or a web page that shows you how to install it once i have odin, it would be greatly appreciated!!!
Odin is a program used to flash .tar files (modem, kernel, system) onto your phone while in download mode.
A little poking around here (I would link you but I'm at work) and you will find the Samsung Drivers, The Odin program itself, and recently someone posted Odin files for 2.2
If you have the .zip of 2.2 (or Superclean 2.4) all you will have to do is flash the eb01 modem in Odin, then install the .zip file through CWM.
Follow ALL instructions in the threads you find to the T or it will be a pain in the ass to get your phone back.
Remember: When using Odin NEVER USE THE PHONE BUTTON. We use the PDA button for the Fascinate.
PDA = Good
Phone = brick (that's bad)

If u get the eb01 sc Odin package...it comes with rom obviously so u don't flash anything in cwm. However... future roms you want will b flashed in cwm. All u do is boot into recovery, instal zip from sd cars, choose the zip from sd card....select it...and hit ok

Ok, easy way to get froyo... go in the fascinate develpment section of xda or droid forums and look for ODIN eb01 package. It will load you up froyo, new clockwork, and root your phone all in one shot. The directions are super easy, just follow them exactly. I did mine this way, you dont have to mess with clockwork at all, ten minutes total. Let us know how you make out.

[STOCK ROM]Use for going back to stock before flashing a custom ROM with minimum risk

\\\\\\\\\\\\warning///////////
It seems that phones batch 1010 and newer dont like this method of going back to stock. If you're caught in a boot loop try flashing the official froyo for Captivate. One source can be found here
\\\\\\\\\\\\warning///////////
Disclaimer: Anything you do with the content found in this thread and the content that this thread links to, is your own choice and you are fully responsible for what happens to your phone.
This method is for ATT Captivate ONLY!
We all know that there is a very often used method of going back to stock found here. The problem is that the ODIN OneClickDownloader contains both boot loaders and param.lfs.
These files, if not flashed correctly or if the connection between phone and PC drops while flashing them, can brick your phone for good. The reason why would this happen is because of unreliable USB drivers.
The purpose of this thread is to give flash addicts/custom ROMs users a more secure way to go back to stock - JF6 - without risking bricking their devices.
Do not use this if you want to send your phone back to ATT or Samsung for warranty!
Use this if you want to go back to stock before flashing a custom ROM.
Use this without worries if you changed your boot screen image or if you flashed the secondary boot loader which allows you to enter download/recovery with key combos.
This package contains NO BOOTLOADERS and NO PARAM.LFS!
Download the package from here
Download Samsung Kies and install it. It will install the latest Samsung drivers.
How to:
Remove sdcard and SIM card from the phone
Extract JF6_secure.zip somewhere.
Boot in Download Mode (see below)
Run Odin3 v1.3.exe
Click on the button PDA
Choose JF6_secure.tar.md5
Click start.
Wait and do not unplug cable until it is finished
How to boot in download mode:
There are 3 methods:
Method 1: (ADB) - from recovery or normally booted with usb debugging on)
Open a cmd prompt/console/shell
adb shell
adb reboot download
Method 2: (KEY COMBO)
Remove the battery, sim card, sdcard if you have one
Insert the battery
Hold both Volume buttons
Plug in the USB cable and continue holding both Volume buttons
Method 3: (JIG)

If moderators believe this does not belong in development, I have nothing against to moving it to General. However, I think the community would appreciate if it would remain here.
Works fine
I used this to flash the latest Continuum 3.5 and everything worked fine. Thanks!
you may want to include the info "FOR ATT i897" phones.

Success !!
Just used this to go back to stock prior to flashing another ROM. Worked with no problems and only took about 5 minutes. Will use this from now on to avoid the possible brick.
Again, really appreciate you providing this for us.
Still not sure why one would use this over the DG Odin? Maybe someone can clarify?
Here is my scenario. I'm currently on Cognition 3.04 which I flashed from stock. It was my first ROM so I didn't have to go back or do anything with Odin. Now, if I want to flash a new ROM, I plan on using Odin, jut not sure which one???

on top of the read phail, i would add that you dont need to flash stock between roms, you only need to do it after a failed flash or a "no wipe" rom that depends on original files, **which they dont do anymore**. All the good full roms do a wipe before flashing. so there is no point going to stock! hope that clearifies!

I thought there was more to it than people having bad usb ports. You're saying if one does have a bad usb port and flashing gets interrupted, their phone would be bricked with the DG Odin, but with this Odin it would somehow be ok?

If you own a computer you definitelly heard about BIOS and you heard that if the BIOS gets screwed (CMOS chip burned or bad BIOS update) you can pretty much throw the motherboard.
Well, imagine that your phone has 3 BIOSs
primary bootloader - boot.bin
secondary bootloader - sbl.bin
hidden partition for system images - param.lfs
and that they are dependent on each other and if one of them gets screwed you wont be able to get to recovery and download mode.
The one click downloader contains all these 3. My package does not.
Get the point?

[STOCK ROM] AT&T + Rogers Heimdall Firmware Packages [ALL PLATFORMS]

This package is designed to be used with Heimdall 1.3.0 or newer to bring your AT&T Captivate back to stock froyo including a full repartition. [mirror] (Rogers users see post #5)
Code:
md5sum 852d209e915c5d866bb3ea3c25f7cc32
This file can be used to restore your phone for warranty, and it should also SIM-Lock the device. It can be used to restore stock firmware from a ROM that uses MTD like CyanogenMod or MIUI (or even if you haven't and would just like to restore stock). This can also be used to restore bootloaders to froyo/eclair style for flashing to CyanogenMod if you flashed a 2.3.x build, such as UCKF1, this is required and prevents nasty emmc bugs (this has been fixed since 2011-08-05 in nightly builds). The full list of hashes for the files contained in this archive is available to check integrity here. I have flashed three devices with these files and I know they work. I hope this replaces the need for "One-click Odin" and prevents bricks on devices that cannot flash back to UCJF6.
Cool I just started toying with the Heimdall1.3.0 for mac this morning. It's nice to finally see a real option for mac users to flash stock. Not to mention its a true cross platform alternative for anyone to flash a rom, and create rom distribution packages.
Many thanks.

ok, I'll try to explain. The files needed to flash this are different than the files in a cwm zip, in that there is not a folder labeled cache, or dbdate, or factoryfs. But those are the folders you need to use this (and odin).

Heimdall Frontend has built-in functionality to generate a compatible Heimdall Firmware Package for you. The format is a .tar.gz file however it always includes a file called firmware.xml, which describes the firmware and how Heimdall Frontend should flash it.
So to create a Heimdall Firmware Package you just fill out Heimdall Frontend's "Flash" tab as if you were going to perform a custom flash. Then instead of clicking the "Start" button you go to the "Create Package" tab. Fill out the information there then press the "Build" button and chose where you want to save the package, Heimdall Frontend does the rest.
Heimdall's README includes detailed instructions.

To convert your other rom into a format that is compatible with flashing via Loke/Heimdall you need to dump those bml partitions using dd.

Be careful doing that with the bootloaders though. I've had success myself (GT-I9000) but Adam Outler (Captivate) recently had a problem with the dumped bootloaders not exactly matching the ones he'd flashed so it looks like the phone may manipulate them under some circumstances.

I was thinking about doing something that didn't include bootloaders. I don't believe in flashing bootloaders without a very real need. I know it only takes a few seconds but I don't like the exposure to risk if it's not absolutely necessary.

I would love one without bootloaders and param.lfs. As long as you don't flash the ginger leaks you shouldn't have to reflash them.
I found an eclair heimdall package w/o those except it didn't repartision, so i couldn't get off cm7 with it.
If you do make it im sure me and many other people will use it all the time.

I'm not sure if you're referring to a Heimdall Firmware Package. If so then after pressing the "Load / Customise" button, you're able to customise the package's original settings before you push the "Start" button to flash.
So if you know the package is a complete firmware package just just check the "Repartition" tick-box if you want to repartition. Obviously you won't want to do that if the package only contains a kernel and modem etc. If you know files are missing you can add them yourself.
Of course if you're not confident in what you're doing then it's probably best to wait for a package that does exactly what you want.

You're not obligated to flash them, if you do not wish to flash bootloaders just remove param, IPL+PBL, and SBL from the list and uncheck repartition.
However if you're flashing back to bml/rfs, it's required that you both repartition and flash bootloaders, there's no getting around that.

Might be a more elegant way of doing this, but maybe try dual booting windows? Or google search heimdall which is a mac Odin equivalent. I'm not sure if the stock firmware works with it or not. You should definitely confirm that before attempting to use heimdall.

Cool. SO now either try heimdall for mac http://www.glassechidna.com.au/products/heimdall/, using a friends computer, or dual booting windows to use the appropriate odin method.

I fairly certain heimdall is not confirmed to work with our stock rom yet. I would highly advise against it if at all possible, try to borrow a pc to do it via odin.

Corrupt Update on Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 8 inch T330NU

I rebooted my tablet as I do once a week, and it got stuck in a boot loop, and will not load. I've researched and the best I can tell is that there was an update and somehow I interrupted it or it was corrupted. Either way, I am stuck.
I've done a factory reset, and it didn't help. I use Fedora 21, and loaded adb and tried to sideload five images, all official samsung android, and I keep getting the error Footer is wrong, signature verification failed.
Can someone walk me through this, I'm not dumb, but I am extremely rusty with commandline. Break it down barney style for this old vet.
Thank you all

Forgive me, is it a standard repository that DNF can find? How do I use Heimdall? Is there a site explaining it?
