Honeycomb - Nook Color Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Got a nook color for $50
Is there a good honeycomb rom
snarf

No. Honeycomb source code will never be released so every honeycomb rom will be full of bugs. Its not worth installing. Go with cm7.

Honeycomb on Evo? Its on nook

Hey everyone, so Honeycomb is on Nook Color, now is the current interface tablet specific?
Edited for lunacy and irrational thought.

The nook guys have a half baked barely functional rom based off the sdk.. Trying to develop off that would be almost completely fruitless until the real source code comes out

more than we got atm
Honeycomb booted onto a phone doesn't even work properly. The launcher FC's, the settings menu doesn't look right, and all the cool Honeycomb stuff is deactivated. What's the point? That build was made for tablets.

What???? "More then we got" Are you serious?? You want to swap our currently STABLE, WORKING, TWEAKED roms for a half-baked barely functional port?? you've got to be joking.
The thing is, the nook doesn't have to function as a primary phone(for me and lots like me), it doesn't have to have working 4g, etc. phones(i would guess) take a little more work then an ereader-turned-tablet.
P.S. not at all trying to put down the guys that are working on the nook. i'm as impressed as the next guy. just trying to put these wishes into perspective.
i think what cheesynutz was saying is that the port of honeycomb for the nook is further along then the port for evo.

I'd rather have ICS on my Tablet. Although there's no need to hack the dumps, since Google announced to release the ICS sources soon.

Same here. Already a custom ROM availbe for the nexus s so that's a good sign
I would like to see it on my Acer,Asus and EVO,but the HTC EVO is still in the gingerbread phase,so it might be a few for my phone.
those sayin they would prefer honeycomb on their tablets.
remember ICS will have source out, meaning REAL custom roms
honeycomb will never get this.
therefor ICS will be the right choice for tablets!

Seeking devs for work on ICS port

Now that cm7 seems close, which means a working AOSP kernel seems closer, any devs wanna work with me to try to port ICS?
All the "real" dev's aren't gonna go anything until ics source comes out. Noone wants ics...because as soon as ics is ported, people are gonna whine about not having cm9.
At the rate our cm7 is going we might actually be part of the cm9 release. Of course this is wishful thinking

We should work more on getting CM7 support official.
ICS is supposed to be similar to Gingerbread API, so if it's official then support should be adopted with the move to CM9.

No I do too. It's just to early right now. Why port an unreleased sdk version of android? And then have all that man power down the drain when cm9 comes out.

^ this. You've got to look beyond. I totally agree here, we're so close with Deca's work on CM7 Kang to have it official, that the resources available to us should be embraced. Once Gingerbread is available, getting CM7 official should be everyone's goal, that is, if you want a fully working ICS rom for our epic in the future, and not a half-assed ICS SDK Port. Yeah, the Nexus SDK Port is a super-nice preview of ICS, but really, they already have official GB, so the port from ICS was much more realistic for them. Not to mention their port didn't have to worry about the Touchwiz Framework or whatever. Anyway, not to be a downer, if you guys round people up, then go for it, best of luck. Just know that if you prioritize what's much more important right now, it will lead to what you want in the end anyway.

But i think we should at least get cm7 and miui fully functional first so everyones satisfied before the next wait.

Well that's really good to hear. CM7 development should be almost done by now...I'm kind of shocked that we haven't had video recording and video playback fully working after 3 weeks of having source.
Maybe I'm just impatient, or maybe it's because we don't have that many devs working on cm7 to begin with. Either way I just hope the Epic will keep getting worked on...

Anyone that wants to help on the port, the fascinate dev pmed me his port so if you pm me, I can send it to you. Also to people that think this is a waste, we can probl use this rom with ics kernel when we get that
I have had my Epic for a Year now...always enjoyed using the Roms, Kernals and fixes the devs here come out with. If I can be any help bringing ICS to the Epic I will gladdly help.
I'm a programmer, but I've never done anything for android.
I'd like to help someone with something, if ppl think another hand on deck would offset having to show me how to do...pretty much everything first.

[Q] cm9 out before january? evo 4g

has anyone heard any chatter about cm9 or any other android 4.0 roms anywhere?
First rule for any CM roms, dont ask for an ETA. It will be out when its ready to be released.
2months roughly according to what i read on a retweet in the ics source thread

CM8 was reserved for Honeycomb, but since they didn't release HC source code until ICS they skipped it.

Should we do a factory reset before performing the update to the ICS?

I will be waiting until Revolver has a new ROM created from ICS. Then factory reset it, and start over with the new ROM. Fresh and ready to go.

you guys cant possibly think ics will be in revolver soon, ics is a whole different os which has different system files and behaves differently.
getting all the optimizations from 3.2 to 4.0 will take a while and that is if the tweaks work on ics.

Yeah I imagine it will take a while for us to see a revolver ICS ROM released. Honeycomb is still new to me as I got my TF101 for christmas and my nexus one still rocks gingerbread. To me, so far, honeycomb feels like what I think ICS will feel like. I guess I'll know for sure when I get my Galaxy Nexus next week...

Having both Honeycomb and ICS (with previous experience with Donut, Eclair, Froyo, and Gingerbread), I'd have to say that ICS has the best parts of all of them, a lot of the looks from Honeycomb, but with the feel that you wished Honeycomb would have had. Then shoot that full of steroids and add a slice of pie = ICS.
I'm hoping soon after ICS is released for the TF we will see a flasble stock Rom that will not remove root.then we can play with that while waiting for ICS on KRAKD
DESIRE HD using ER3BUS ASUS TRANSFORMER on KRAKD
I'm super excited for ICS, but i don't know the best method to go back to stock and keep root. I'm too antsy to wait until a custom rom is built, but i also don't want to forgeit the option of using TB to recover all my applications and game saves. What's everyone's thoughts on this?
You know that the TF is NOT going to get ICS on the 12th, the statement from Asus says the PRIME gets ICS. Asus has made no statement that I have found for a release date to the TF. IMHO it does not make good business since to relase it to the TF until the hype has gone away from the release of the PRIME and the update of ICS.

Asus actually said "are you referring to TF101? If so, it will be getting the update as well tomorrow. Thanks."
Seems pretty definitive to me.
