Hi I just bought a new sgs2.
And compared to my friend's one, it has yellowish tint (for all screen not just a part of the screen)
Don't have warranty and stuff. Is there like an app to change screen temperature?
(voodoo colour maybe?)
Coming from sgs1 user, I can't really say s-amoled is better
Anyone with yellow tint screen, please give me an advice...
Thanks

already did. they refer to yellow tint on the side only.
I have the same issue. My previous sgs2 had a yellow tint on the left side. I send it for repair and got the screen replaced. Now my whole screen is more yellowish, while my previous phone was more blueish (warm vs cold tint). I'm on KG1 now. The yellow left side is as good as gone though.
On 100% brightness the whites are really white, but below 60% the white and grey turn yellow.
I've searched for an app that allows you to change the color temperature but haven't found one. I've found a few that simply turn down brightness levels individually for R, G and B, but that doesn't work. Personally I'd like my phone's tint to be a bit cooler.

On a yellow tinted phone, the whites only seem white till you compare it beside a phone with a higher color tone.. thats what I also experienced.
guess we just have to wait for speedmod colour fix or voodoo color..
Is that being developed? I would be more than happy to donate a few bucks to anyone who can deliver such an app.

Have you tried changing in settings, Screen the 3 different configurations it has?. Try the fist one, i think it has too many saturation but whites are whiter (at least for my sight).

Tried dynamic but it was too sharp for my taste.

Anyone having the "Blue Tint" problem? it happens when i am on the lowest brightness level and i open up the gmail app the white has a bluish tint. I went to the tmobile store and they exchanged my phone because the display model displayed perfect white when set at the lowest brightness and the gmail app was opened. some euro galaxy s users are also reporting of a blue tint problem when displaying whites. Any one experiencing this?

I've got the same issue. I just figured it was a product of the SAMOLED screen, but I guess I'll swing by the T-Mob store tomorrow and see what's up.
I thought it was a little strange that the Gmail client opened and the tint changed a bit. I also figured it was just something that happens with the SAMOLED.
Please give us an update after you stop by the T-mo store.
Yep its blue here too. I sorta thought it was a bit odd, but figured oh well it sure is easy on the eyes thou.
Can you provide an example?

uhh, that's not normal?
When my wife first saw the screen she said there was a blue tint to it but I wasn't able to see it. But now that others are seeing it too, maybe it is a problem.
Here's what I did... I downloaded one of those flashlight apps that turns your entire screen white. I then did a screen shot with Shoot Me app (for root users).
Then I compared the screen shot with the actual screen and took a picture of it.
I'm not sure if this is a good enough experiment since color settings on my monitor can be different but here is a pic for you guys nonetheless.
The Vibrant color temperature appears to be running hot at about 7800K. There should be a way to adjust the color temperature somewhere.
Someone posted about this in the i9000 section.

Seems like it's an SAMOLED issue, but if others have seen demo phones that appear 'warmer', maybe it's not.
Just got back from my trip to the T-Mob store and played with the demo model and 2 reps personal phones any they all have the same issue. I'm going to chalk it up to it being part of the SAMOLED technology and ignore it. It doesn't bother me at all, but if it was a small group that had the issue, I would have exchanged my phone.

This very interesting because I did recognize the blue tint on my phone as well, however my girlfriends phone has a soft yellow tint.
I'm curious what is causing this to happen.
(I remember on the iphones, the old ones had a blue clear tint, while the newer screens had the very same soft yellow tint to it. I know they are two very different screen technology, but it's interesting that I'm seeing it again, except on two of the same batch of phones. I checked the boxes and they are from the same, "litter.")
Anyone find out how we can adjust the color temp on our phones?
I guess, Samsung just averaged this tint. Since blue amoleds with time degrade faster then others, the things will be better at some point and end up with yellow tint several years from now.

I took a picture with my Canon 5D...if you look up at the very top at the black strip that goes across where the notifications show up, you can see the color difference.
If you look closely at the picture you can tell the left is blue and the right is yellow.
IT'S MUCH MORE NOTICEABLE IN WITH THE NAKED EYE.
Any thoughts?

First and foremost, I wouldn't call it a "problem," as the thread indicates. It just is what it is and does no harm...
Anyhow here's some pictures I took of the four Vibrants I have. You can definitely see the contrast now. My phone is #4 on far right. Ice cold blue eh? or actually blue flame kelvin hot! It looks like my HID's on my car and the yellow on the other phones look like my stock yellow oem headlights...
Something I noticed today while reading through comments on Endgadget is that every time I would scroll down (or up), the tint would turn more blue as it scrolled. Release my finger from the screen, and the tint would "snap" back to yellow.
The difference in tint is very subtle, but once I caught onto it, I found it distracting.
I cant say I'm able to replicate this behavior on other websites. Google News and NYT, for example, are fine. Furthermore, I'm not seeing it in the XDA app, Gmail, or the Market.
My overall screen brightness is set to 0 and my browser brightness is also at 0.
Anyone else seeing this?
I have an iphone 3G in hand next to my Vibrant. The iphone's browser clearly has a very neutral white, whereas the Samsung presents whites as very blue-green and much dimmer. I have mine set to auto-bright levels. How do you change the browser's brightness independently?

Probably the case. Now I'm wondering if it's a setting in the software or if it's a physical LED characteristic?

I can replicate this issue on XDA via the brower on any brightness setting. The screen's slight blue (cool) tint becomes yellowy (warm) when I hold my finger on the page or scroll. Additionally, images become noticeably distorted during the hold-tap, so I assume low quality cache images are being generated for smoother scrolling, and the color temperature is accidentally changed as well.
This would appear to be an issue that software fixes may be able to counter (if any of this is indeed a hardware issue in the first place).
Wow too my surprise, after installing the new update, I noticed right off the colors has been calibrated correctly! No more purplish in certain shades of grays now!

2.3.3 also fixed my overly bright screen too. I used to have my NS always set on the lowest brightness setting and I still felt that it was too bright.
Yeah it did seem to improve the brightness as well. I like the new settings.

You guys don't think its too yellowish now??
I do a bit of photography and have a colour corrected wide gamut monitor I use for retouching.
To my eyes, when looking at the same photography on both devices, the new colour temperature is much closer to 'correct' than the old one was. Not perfect but much more preferable to me.
so maybe all the complaining people have been doing is just their eyes not used to what the screen "should" look like

I know that when I first bought my Datacolor Spyder colorimeter to calibrate my monitor it took a while to get used to the results. Much less "in your face" than before, but much closer to natural.
I exchanged my first Nexus S because the screen was too blue/purple. The second one was slightly less purple. But the new color profile got rid of all the purpleness

google fixed ns's color too much...
though grey does not display as purple any more, white displays as a bit yellow now, what takes ns's sharp display away.

on modaco r11 "2.3.2" and the colors are awesome , i had the purple tint on dark gray areas but its all gone now .
can someone compare this with the colors on 2.3.3 ?
I like the new colors it looks now great!!!
I noticed the colour difference immediately as well. It actually felt weird to me, I was really used to the purplish colour in the UI. Feels very grey. Not complaining though if this is how it should have been, but feels weird.
I for one do not like the new colors. They look too washed out and gray.
The Crispness is gone. Whites are now yellowish. I am not a fan. I did a comparison with a friends NS side by side his with 2.3.2 and mine with 2.3.3. and there is a difference and 2.3.2. looked better. This could be "the correct color" as has been stated but that does not mean it looks better. I have never noticed a purplish tint before and even looking at my friends NS with 2.3.2. I still do not see it.

Same here. Looking at it again (2 Nexus S side by side) the one with 2.3.3 really seems washed out.
I did notice an occasional purplish tint on 2.3.2, but mostly from different viewing angles, less so when looking straight on at the screen. It never bothered me. The overall color scheme was also a bit cool, with more blues coming through. I've read that because blue LEDs in AMOLED screens wear out quicker, often they are overemphasized at first and will fade over time. I thought this might have been the explanation.
I definitely noticed a color change after updating to 2.3.3. At first it was very bothersome. The colors do seem to be washed out and the whites seem just a tad yellow. But I can see how this may be more accurate as the previous color scheme was overly cool. Maybe we tend to prefer a cooler color temperature. The new one will take some getting used to. Blue is a "comfort color" after all.
Blue appears brighter to the human eye despite the actual lumen output being similar. It's like those custom bulbs that some people like to put on their honda civics or whatever, the blue/purple looking ones. Yea they "look" bright but they actually output less light than the standard yellowish bulbs.
Anyway, being an avid photographer and spending hours tweaking my plasma TV's colors, warmer colors are more natural to the human eye and most people jack up the blues to make things look more contrasty or sharp, which in my opinion is too harsh and fake. Even the iPhone 4 screen is tinted blue to make whites appear brighter. Then again, some HTC screens are so red tinted it's ridiculous, so in the end, download the color calibration app and tweak it according to your liking.

i would say the voodoo fix isnt as "extreme" as 2.3.3
I am looking for honest opinions about the color change to the Nexus S display with the 2.3.3 update. I have heard very many people complaining and not liking the new color scheme. THis is key to whether I allow my nexus to update or not. If anybody can give me any opinions regarding this I will greatly apprectiate it. Also, what exactly was wrong with the original color scheme to begin with?
I've been lurking for a while now, but I suppose it's high time that I start contributing around here!
I think the update's colors are fine. Breaking it down, the 2.3.2 and below colors were a bit reddish in my eyes. While you couldn't tell for the most part, if you use a program like Screen Filter and get the screen to be very dim, there would be a very purple tint to the screen.
The update removed the purple tint, but a lot of people (the ones you refer to) began complaining about a yellowish tint and washed out colors. The yellowish tint is noticeable, especially when I compare white between the Nexus S and either my computer or an iPhone 3GS. In my eyes, it's not *that* yellow, and the screen overall looks better than it did pre-update. The washed out effect I really haven't noticed, though I do think that after installing netarchy's kernel, the colors do pop a little bit more.
Overall, I'm not a terribly picky person, but I do think that 2.3.3+Voodoo color looks better than 2.3.2 or stock 2.3.3.
Jeff's right. 2.3.3 stock colors aren't bad at all. I actually like it over the purplish colors of 2.3.2. Plus I think the lowest brightness levels have been darker than 2.3.2.
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA Premium App
You can't compare your super amoled screen to a computer monitor or an iPhone. When making this kinda comparison, you should compare with another similiar galaxy s phone or N1 that doesn't have the purplish tint issue. With that being said, the reason why colors looks washed out to some after the update is because, before the update most of us was used to the grays being purple so alot of images that had this certain shade of gray would display purple. Now after the update, those images that we're used to looking at with the purplish issue are now all of a sudden displaying it's true color of grays, which causes the images to appear washed out. The update does provide the correct color calibrations. Also keep in mind the these screens are not consistently manufactured the same. So even tho the update provides the correct color calibration, the outcome still may vary depending on the condition of the manufactured screen which explains why some are experiencing extreme yellowish discoloration.

my brother bought a nexus S used few days ago. it was on 2.3.2
on high brightness, the white was perfect white " no yellow tint on it. perfect white.
however on low settings, it used to have pink tint that is more clear on gray colors.
so he updated to 2.3.3, the pink is gone. but now the screen has this " yellow " tint to it that makes the creen looks washed out. the blue not really a blue . its lighter blue, and the white on high setting is like yellow white.
however, he updated the karnel i think with one from voodoo where he can pick between 2 color profiles " forgot the name of the karnel but its in xda "
now the screen is back to how it was on 2.3.2 with its white " no yellowish" and when he pick the color profile for the low settings, the pink is also gone . no more pink on low settings and yellow on high settings. its actually perfect.
i assume if your phone has yellow issue on 2.3.2, then you are probably screwed. as there is no fix to that. the voodoo will only return the white to how it was on 2.3.2
but if your white was perfect and you have a problem with the pink, then look for the karnel, you will lose your pink plus the perfect white will come back agian
My display had purple tint and I changed the phone today and got a new one. Its better now and significany less pink color.
Also I now discovered something that the pink tint is only visible when u look at the screen 90 degrees. If u tilt the phone a little (5-10 degrees) to left-right or up-down and view like that the color turns normal (like my year old sgs).
It made me realise that this is a screen coating issue (maybe coating causes polarisation). So do u think this will go away with the time of use?
When I turn off the screen and check it under light by tilting I can see a little purple glare.
What do u think?
Do you have this on your phones?
My sgs, when the screen is off if you look the screen under light has a bluish color/glare.
However sgs2 when I look under light, screen turned off has a purple glare.

mine was without screen protector and there was purple glare on screen
now I'm really happy because it's not just me who has this purple glare on screen
this does not matter I like this phone
I find the problem when it is directly under bright light only...even when bright sunlight, it doesn't give me the glare...so it is not really a problem, I don't have a bright light in my room lol
Purple glare is not a problem but it causes phone to display purplish whites and greys when the screen brightness at low. At night, If I look 90 degrees to phone whites are creamy greys have a pink hue however when I view the screen from a little different angle (if i tilt like 5 degrees) whites are cool and greys are perfect.
Well maybe my sgs has a blue tint and cool colors that's why I feel a huge difference. Cuz when I compared my iPod touch 2nd Gen. IPod's color is more pinkish tthan my sgs2.
I don't have screen protector yet but I was hoping putting one would fix that purplish tint issue. So it doesn't.

I have bell too. Where did you get your phone? I would like to go to the store that u bought to compare mine. Phones in the store that i got mine all have the same issue. This is my 3rd phone from the same store and they are already sick of me going there to change everyday. Maybe it's a batch problem. Are u in Toronto? If u are could u tell me the store name?
I've bought it in the TBooth in Eaton center
I checked all the phones in eaton center and they all have different screens. Mostly they have yellowish tint. One phone in future shop was worst than mine(purple)
One of the 6 display phones in bell had a perfect screen. Which made me hesitate about changing my phone. What are the odds to get a perfect screen?
The phones which have yellow tint their colors look pale to me. Only problem is mine, certain grays look purplish. Such as the status bar buttons. In a dark room with 0 brightness they have a purple tint.
when I tilt the phone that purplish color goes away.
What color the pull down status bar buttons should look like? What is your color?
Dude there are always will be some imperfection in any device.
Stop nitpicking, enjoy your phone.
I've started using this phone yesterday. There seems to be a yellowish tint on the screen. Also, the brightness fluctuates at times while browsing. The Screen in its entirety has a warm color to it. The whites don't appear truly white, they have a yellowish tint to them.
Anyone facing similar issues/ knows how to resolve them?
Go to settings, then display and then change the color mode to Vibrant. It serves its purpose in Moto G4 Plus! If your yellowish tint is still not gone, then it must be the screen guard which you might have applied. Always go for Tempered Glass protector or even the Glossy to get that pure vibrant experience on the phone. Never go for Matte as it makes the view dull and pale. Good luck!

Dude, yellowish tint on LCD displays is not exclusive for a Moto G4 line. It´s a manufacturing process and could came yellowish or blue tint on it...
If you want a non yellowish display, go for amoled display phones and u be safe.
If you don´t like yellow tint, try to call a replacement, and maybe, next time u get a non yellow tint display...
Or try to use an app called screen adjuster free avaiable for free on playstore. With the app, u can adjust colors on display at your own taste...
