Hi,
When I plug in my sdcard,I can't find it using stock file manger,I have to downlod another one from market.once I instaal it and I can see the external storage.
Also I can't wipe out old data.Everytime I do change something or unistaal or install something,it will gone after unit power off then on.
When I tried to update, start install new software it will turn unit of and can only see Android logo only.
Mine is a used one with 3.01
Thanks
By chance is your device rooted if so I would put a dollar or two on a mount application for the SD card if your device is having trouble showing it. I use several different install managers and never have a problem my main I use is Astro the only thing about this file manager is that you have to back up to the main file system and you'll see "mnt" then go to external SD, best of luck
Acer A500 3.2 AsusNetflix patch FTW
External SD
Is located at /mnt/external_SD - you just need to figure out how to get out of the /mnt/sdcard (/sdcard) directory in whatever file explorer you are using and then chdir to the proper location.
As for the other issues - would recommend a factory reset, also would highly recommend a upgrade to 3.1

I have installed A7Comb rom which mostly does a good job. The biggest problem is that external sdcard and usb are inaccessible. If I choose to go back to 3.01 where I had this capability, access to external sdcard is required to flash the old rom. Am I screwed or are there any other alternatives?
ooorah
im not positive, but if i remember correctly you have access to the external sd (using Root Explorer or something like it) there is /Mnt/sdcard check in there im not sure the exact directory, but im pretty sure it was in there when i was using A7comb, then you can copy and paste the update.zip to the root of the sd
Let me know if you can't find it, i will flash A7comb real quick to give you a hand
Catch-22 eLocity A7
smallba, Thanks for the reply. Can root explorer be used to do the rom flashing? I can get the 1.41 rom on the sdcard using my desktop, but the A7 can't see it. I've tried to flash using the start button routine, but it never recognizes the sdcard and sends me back to boot. Then I cant boot until I remove the sdcard. Also, even though I'm rooted and have superuser, root explorer always fc's. What a mess.

Do you have Sdhc adaptor physically plug the micro sdhc in the computer and then move the update zip to the sd?
What kind of sdcard are u using?
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA Premium App
Thanks for your reply. At /mnt/external_sd the sd folder is shown as empty.
ooorah
smallba I connect via usb to my desktop using a Targus adapter. The sdscard is Kingston 2gb formatted fat32. I cut/paste update.zip to the sd card.

Do you have a cell phone to try the sd card in? I just want to make sure it is not corrupted, you have flashed before using this same sdcard?
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA Premium App
Yes I've used this sd card to flash on my Acer A500. I'm sure it's ok.
ooorah
What does it do when you put in and pull out the sdcard?
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA Premium App
When sdcard is installed I look at externai_sd and it's empty. I cannot reboot until the sdcard is removed. BTW, various mount apps I've tried fail to recognize the presence of a sdcard.
ooorah
I know I been asking many questions, but it recognized in the accer?
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA Premium App
Yes, sdcard was recognized in Acer 500. Content was shown under external sd.
A7
What rom are you trying to flash back to?
I had some issues reverting back from A7Comb.
I think I had to flash back to stock first.
Re: your previous post, how can I flash back to stock if I can't find external sd?

Cant read SD
I reloaded my copy of A7Comb and will play around with it to see if I run into the same issue. If the SD can't be used, it may be possible to connect via USB/ADB and push the stock images.
However, I have never used ADB with the A7, only with other devices. I will also try and figure that out to see if that's a viable option. Will need to find the drivers and get those loaded. Been meaning to test ADB with this device anyway.
Thanks DANO, I'd appreciate the help.

I'll do what I can, I'm no expert, but I am very comfortable with ADB and have no concerns about messing with my A7. I've been meaning to do this for a while anyway. Will probably take me a few days to get get the A7 connected to ADB as its USB port doesn't play nice, and there are some tricks to getting windows/ADB to pick up the device. I'm also gonna try and lookup Dexter to see if he can give me some tips on doing this.
I used ADB last March and rooted my CRUZ 7" tablet. Whether it will work with a usb connection to eLocity A7 will have to be tried. I'll play around to see if I can get it working. If I get that far I'll have to wait for further instructions.
ps I can use a usb keyboard with no problem. ooorah
Yeah, keyboards, thumb drives, etc. should all work as the A7’s USB slot is set to host mode by default. The trick is flipping the switch to slave/device mode so we can use ADB to communicate with it.
Dexter’s A7Comb Rom had an App “OTG” for doing this (with a reboot), but when I tried it out, my Windows 7 box only saw the device but still didn’t fully communicate with it (ADB didn’t see it at all). Most likely due to the lack of a driver, or rather telling it where the driver was.
I’ve got some info on doing this, and I plan on trying to get this up and going tonight. Once I get ADB connected to the A7, I would think we should be able to push a new recovery image or something along those lines to fix whatever happened with the SD Card.
Just curious, have you tried a factory reset, data wipe, etc. (then reboot back into recovery), and tried to run the update.zip from the SD Card. I doubt this will work, but the A7 re-writes the recovery image with each update, therefore if something got corrupted, perhaps a wipe will fix whatever is broken in recovery by way of re-writing it. I’m not sure if recovery gets replaced with just a data wipe/reset, but if you don’t mind resetting your device it might be worth a shot.
ok i'm using taboonay 2.0 with Thor's 3.0 kernel. I can see all the files on my SD card through root explorer and if i take the card out and hook it up to my pc. My question is why when i plug my iconia into my PC i can see the card, but can't see any files on it? Wasn't 3.2 supposed to fix this or it something on my end? haven't tried to reformat it cause it isn't a big issue to me just trying to figure out why.
i have sorta similar issue. I can access sdcard in root explorer or other apps, but if i pop it out it get interesting. I can still browse the sdcard contents in any file explorer even though i am holding it in my hand. Also i have not been able to access the sdcard from the latest clockwork recovery. The only directory there is LOST. So i take it to the pc and same thing, only the LOST directory, pop it back in the tablet, fire it up, browse to /sdcard directory, all the files i have downloaded are right there still along with that LOST directory......
So i cant flash anything now. Tried reflashing CWR from the Acer Recovery Installer, no progress. Tried formatting sdcard on pc using the tool in the sticky, same thing, cannot access sdcard in CWR.
Help.
**update: so here's what i found, apparently there is a directory called sdcard on my tab that is actually local system memory. It has all my downloaded files in it. I mounted the tablet with USB to my pc and moved one of the files to the sdcard(which is empty by the way, everything is going to the local ram for some reason) and rebooted into recovery and then it showed up in CWR!
So all this time my tablet has been syncing my google music beta music for offline use, around 10 gigs of it, and it dumped it all on the local memory so now im almost out of ram.....with an empty sdcard.....great
I believed you guys are having this same problem...please see this thread about directory naming structure...etc

Anyone have problems with the SD card slot I can't copy or create folders I have tryed more than one SD card I'm running stock 3.2 with no root

There seems to be a change in the root owner of the 3.2.1 ROM for the external sd card that keeps you from being able to write to the sd card from the Thrive.
It also did this on 3.1

File Manager HD (Honeycomb
Had same issue until I found this nice app on Android Marketplace:
File Manager HD (Honeycomb) by Rhythm Software
It is free and I was very pleased. After installing, I was able to access my sd card, create folders, then I copied my apps and pictures that were backed up on the internal memory card and pasted into folders I created on my external sd card.
App can be found on Marketplace but I did experience trouble downloading from there. However, there was a link included in the App Description so I was able to click on the link and downloaded app directly from that link.
You can find the link just after the first note that reads:
NOTE: If you have problem for downloading this application to your device from Android market, please directly download it from our website:
Name of app is:
File Manager HD (Honeycomb)

Actually I faced the same issue on my thrive, I just got a brand new 16G SDHC class6 card yesterday, and same problem the CARD couldn't be operated. Here is my thrive 3.1.04.5.0006 in china, finally I changed another card in my hand which is 2g SD c4 into slot, everything was ok, then I mounted 16g back again, surprised I can read the content of 16G card, but still can not create or paste anything. File manager HD does not work either, I feel thats the problem of permisssion
I think its Toshiba's problem maybe I should try emailing them and reporting the problem and maybe they will work up a fix

Toshiba is well aware of the issue. If you go to the Toshiba site, many have reported it. Actually, it is not a Toshiba problem per say. Google made a change in the permissions on the sd card along with changing the mount point. If you check, many manufacturers are having this issue since HC 3.2 came out.
this seems not only issue for 3.2, 3.1 also, but mine is resovled for now, I can read/write stuff in, however I do not why it can work right now, just guess its not so stable.
I don't know why this is, but maybe it will help someone. I've been using Android devices for some time now, with the Cyanogen Mod ROMs. I just got the Thrive this past weekend and am running the stock 3.1 ROM, rooted.
I installed an SD card that has a lot of data on it from another Android device (chiefly e-books, which are organized in a "Books" folder at the root, then in subfolders by author). I found that the directory /sdcard/ had the expected folders in it (using the Toshiba File Manager), but that none of my book readers could find any of the "author" subfolders. It looked as if only the top-level directories existed and everything under them had vanished!
After doing a lot of head scratching, and moving files around, etc. I discovered that there was a directory called /sdcard/sdcard-disk0/ which contained all of the file structure that exists in the root of the physical SD card, as viewed on any other computer (desktops or another Android device).
Somehow, the Toshiba version of Android is creating what I think is a logical device (or maybe a symlink?) to the "real" SD card. I don't know why, but when I point apps to this directory instead of just /sdcard/ things start to work again.
I can help with a dirty hack to setup the external SD as the primary storage. Only for 3.2, will update this post as soon as I am at my desk.

**EDIT This isn't a failing on toshibas part, but the nature of honeycomb itself.
however, here is how to setup your external SD card as the primary storage. I can't recommend enough to NOT take the card out while the tablet is in operation. This is a dirty method of changing up the mount points in the vold.fstab.
First it will require root on your tablet. You will need to download any file explorer that can mount the system as r/w. ES file manager, root explorer, etc etc.
Browse to /etc/ and open vold.fstab, the built in text editor in root explorer will do the trick nicely.
You need to switch the mount points of both the sd cards.
dev_mount storage /mnt/sdcard 8 /devices/platform/sdhci-tegra.3/mmc_host/mmc0
dev_mount sdcard /mnt/sdcard2 auto /devices/platform/sdhci-tegra.2/mmc_host/mmc1
will then look like.
dev_mount storage /mnt/sdcard2 8 /devices/platform/sdhci-tegra.3/mmc_host/mmc0
dev_mount sdcard /mnt/sdcard auto /devices/platform/sdhci-tegra.2/mmc_host/mmc1
noticing the 2 (external sd card) is being mounted as the thrives storage instead of an extra card.
Save the file, reboot the thrive, and enjoy installing as many apps as you want to your external sd card.
Im stock and havent had an issue with

I'm relatively new to this but up until now I've had no problems so far... So I just upgraded to the latest version of Jamal's 4.4.2, following the proper install method, clearing data and caches in CWM.
I DL'd Titanium Backup and tried to change my backup location to where I store my apps which is on my SD however upon selecting /extsdcard it says that 'this folder is not writable'. Using a file manager and attempting to access external just displays an empty folder. However, going into settings-storage shows that the SD card is mounted and displays the correct size/available space.
If I unmount then mount the card it seems to function again, I am able to access the files in a file manager. That is until I go back into Titanium Backup. Now it does something different here if I press 'DETECT!', it finds my backups and displays the correct amount and path on the external however upon selecting them it takes me to the appropriate folder and says 'This folder is not writable' and 'this folder is empty.' and Use the current folder' is greyed out. The external sd is then back to displaying nothing in the file managers again.
I've tried wiping and re-installing the ROM, but it still carries on doing the same thing. I've searched in the ROM's thread and other places and I haven't been able to come up with any solution so I'd be grateful if you could shed some light into this issue and possibly offer a potential fix?
this issue is hard.Im not a developer, but I think you need change an another firmware or change a new TF card.so you can know what's the problem. But I have a damaged TF card have the similar problem.but due to I have no important file in it ,I throw it out
hope I can help you
I got a otg-cable which has a USB port and a SD/micro SD card slot. It works fine (I can browse files when tapping on notification icon, card is empty/formatted), however, does anyone know where it's root folder is located? I can't find it with rootbrowser or root explorer.
Tried /mnt/ but there's nothing related, not even ext-sd, only the usual SDCard (internal storage), and i tried most other folders, just can't find it...
I want to backup my flashable (ROM) files from internal to my SD card without the need for a PC (which i currently don't have).
I'm using CM13.0 Snapshot on a G2-d802
anyone??
Just a thought: If the drive is indeed mounted and accessible, you could try the "df" command in Terminal Emulator to see a list of partitions and their mount points.
I have already found it. Apperantly i did not get through all folders in "/mnt". It's root-folder is located at "/mnt/media_rw/XXXX-XXXX/". I'm not sure how i messed that the first few times.
Thanks for your reply though, at least you took the time to actually make one
