I will try git
It's not there. And they won't release it.
Since when was HTC obligated to release kernel source if they didn't release the binary?
Well regardless I want to try making kernels how do you know the version of the kernel you downloaded ?
You don't understand. The aosp kernel source does not contain board support for the Dinc.

Has anyone compiled the kernel from Samsung? There are missing some modules and initramfs.
Can anyone tell me where can I find these?
Best regards
froyo sources are not yet available

Ok. Well also for Eclair because the initramfs is missing, isn't it?
I downloaded an ARM cross-compiler (under ubuntu) and the kernel source
form samsung compiled. Is it ok, compiles, but the zImage is about 2.5 Mb and the zImage in the flash package (PDA) is about 4.5 MB!
I compared both (decompressing them) and I seen that in the compiled kernel the initramfs folders are missing.
Initramfs should be in android platform (AOSP) isn't it?
Best regards
Let me aks another way.
Is there anyone able to compile (Eclair) the whole ROM (AOSP) from scratch
inclusive the kernel, and then flash into the phone?
Best regards

You don't install it, The source code is needed to build a custom kernel, but either enable overclocking or generally tweaking it to improve performance. You need the Android SDK to compile a kernel.
But, can we get the OS from this source or it's just the kernel?

Install Linux eg Ubuntu, down it, build it directly or git AOSP source then build.
My computer is unstable, or I can use it to port CyangenMod. But I have git AOSP source, I might try to build one. However, how to flash the built is a big trouble...
been trying to dowload this for a whole day. each time only got 10kBps speed, and resulting in timeout. also cannot resume. wth samsung????
Went well for me so here's my upload

and custom kernels
as you all probably know paul-xxx released an ICS rom for our X8 which is apparently based on CM9 (correct me if i am wrong). however it has a lot of problems like WiFi, Camera etc. it also has kernel compatibility issues like gsm working on nAa kernel but not on alfs kernel and so on (again correct me if i am wrong). so i have decided that i will set about the task of building a compatible kernel for this rom. however that is not possible alone by me. i need the help of expert devs on X8. so let's start, shall we?
i can only can help you in testing , sorry im not an expert, i hope some people help you to compile the kernel !!!!
sorry my bad english !!
as i say any help is greatly appreciated. and could you ask other devs you know to help me out? thanks in advance.
I know that FXP is already doing something for MSM7227 for ICS
It is in their Git, maybe they are planing to port ICS to X10Mini/X10MiniPro/X8, or help on that.
I cant help because I am using W8 and I cannot unlock bootloader. I am sorry but I will help support you guys...
Hit the THANKS button if I helped!!

i have a question. in fact 2 questions.
1. can i use this guide to compile a kernel using this source except for the fact that the source will be different (in this case the ICS kernel source that you referred me to)?
2. since FXP kernel has compatibility issues with some roms, will a kernel using their ICS source be compatible with paul's ICS?
hope to see reply soon.

yes they are complete, but maybe not "ICS" at all, i think so
hardly any skill though it doesnt hurt to develop some..lol

what makes you think so?
msm7x27:initial fork [freexperia]
i think this means that they forked the "base" kernel for Msm7x27, so it must be complete.
@souljaboy11792 If you botherd to look at FXP ICS source you will see it's only for es209ra (X10).You can't build this for X8 witout a lot of changes. And what's the point of this thread when you know nothing about kernel building.(Don't mean to be rude)

Hello,
Nokia X2 Open Source Release CD that I just received from Microsoft Mobile can be downloaded from:
-----
URL NOT HERE DUE TO XDA ANTI-SPAM RIGIDITY! See the link in my profile's Github section, go to Releases and download rm-1013_2.0.0.11.tar (only file there)
-----
Sorry about the tar-blob format, kernel source for X2 is there but I'm terribly busy today so no neat kernel source repo merged top of correct CAF tag at the moment.
Use msm8610_defconfig or msm8610-sales_defconfig for building debug (eng) or final (user) SW.
On behalf of Microsoft's Nokia-X Linux kernel devs, have fun modding this!
can you request nokia xl kernel source from them?
Nokia x2 kernel file
How do I load the kernel file to my nokia x2 device?????????
Hello,
Anyone found which CAF version this kernel sources is based, to make proper diff?

What kind of help do you need? I guess most of us should be able to "test" the ROM if you cook one. Some good set of instructions would be nice like which Recovery is required, what you expect not to work in initial release etc.
