Hi All,
After flashing new ROM, my first time, the device couldn't connect to the network due to missing IMEI.
I don't know how and why it was deleted.
I have tryied to revert back to the Stock ROM and the same.
I have no support from my service provider because the device is hacked...
Any solutions?
same case happened to me
hi there, just the same thing happened to me when I newly bought samsung galaxy S2, I did many trials to find a solution and a lot of internet research but I could not find any, and a lot of new flashes.
At the end, I re- installed again a stock ROM and went to the service shop where it is still under guaranty, the guys there did not know how to fix it back although they have contacted the VENDER (samsung firm), and at the end they replace it with BRAND New one, I was lucky.
However, when you get a new one, you have to back up a directory called "efs" using root explorer application (have to buy it from market),while u must be rooted, they folder includes the imei data needed, and if you have it already back it up some time back, try to restore it and may be you will have your imei back, (i could not dare to try this after i got the replacement).
My cousin had this problem when he flashed lite'ning rom 6.1 on his new galaxy s 2. I flashed it back to stock XXKH3 and imei and baseband returned. Tried flashing back to 6.1 and again went off so back to stock and everything working fine.
Try restore IMEI technqiues (part of my reserches atthat time):

Using the root explorer method I'm not sure you will be able to restore the IMEI if you corrupt the /efs folder. Have a look at this!
Dude, read the f**king rules!
This is the wrong section, and you obviously haven't even tried to use the search button.

If your /efs directory got erased due to a flash.. Short answer: Without a backup you cannot restore it. A support request from samsung maybe, but unlikely due to the modified nature of the device.

If only. It's funny how people lose their efs folder then come complaining and researching afterwards. All they have to do is simply back it up.
Return the phone to samsung under warranty and hope for the best OP.

for me, after installing Lite... Rom 6.1, i miss my IMEI, but after installing first rom(with three files!) of middle east, its back to me!!!
Lost IMEI
Are you sure the IMEI is realy lost? sometimes when the modem ****s up or compatibility issues.
I think maybe you should download only the modem which corasponds to the rom you are using, ie, use KH3 modem if KH3 ROM etc.
Give that a try my friend...dont forget to read the instructions in the other threads about the use of odin, I know this is not the appropriate place for this thread but there is no need to be agresive towards people who are learning the ropes
indeed try to flash back to stock rom and then root Backup your efs folder then try flashing a rom again.
i got this also that my Imei was gone flashed back to stock and it was back again.
Someone knows how to reproduce this?
I already have an efs backup but want to try to get a new sgs2 (yellow tint prob).
Cheers
Same here, have had Litening Rom 6.1 (for a couple of months already) and IMEI gone since this morning. The phone can't find the network anymore. It also has problems booting up sometimes. In some cases I need to pull the battery and boot it 5 times in a row before it boots past the first screen.
I guess I need to downgrade as well. (Or upgrade to the latest Litening version, but I'll first downgrade to the original firmware.)
on newer phones they have made it harder to fff up your imei the efs directory no longer exists and the data is saved in a private partition instead..
that is the way it is on my wifes galaxy s gio that i just setup..
just info for thought.

What? Didn't you change IMEI after full flash? You have to change your imei to correct one.
I want to change imei sir but i dont know how . did u know how to?
Whaterever you do don't install any room that needs repartitioning.
If you start playing with partitions you phone will never be the same and the chances of losing the IMEI are like 99%.
YOu can restore the IMEI with 5eirom tool but its not the same and everytime you downgrade or upgrade IMEI will be lost again.
DO NOT REPARTITION YOUR PHONE. no matter what other might say to you.
I you want a stable rom with all function working and without issues, I'm afraid only stock Froyo.
After thousands of rom flashes and twice my phone went to repare dure to lost IMEI I have again IMEI issues and phone is like ****.
Theres no rom like stock froyos for our phone.
If you really want a fully working ICS or JB consider changing phone.
This is my honest oppinion and the BEST advice someone can give you. Now its up to you!

I din't quite understand what you meant.
Anyway, downgrading to stock froyo its easy.
If you repartition before, you need to revert to stock partition and then copy the dload folder to the internal SD (very important, must be internal SD)
I would suggest this, is your phone still on guarantee?
If yes just do what I mention above, then upgrade to any stock GB and if the IMEI is 0 take it to repair.
When comes back, the do whatever you like but never repartition again.
Repartitioning is the stupidest thing anyone can do to the phone and who advise it should clearly warn the risks as the biggest one is losing the IMEI.
To correctly restore the IMEI only changing the main board of the device, period!
If you touch the partition of your phone ytou will never be able to restore to REAL AND ORIGINAL stock partition, no matter what anyone tells you.
Please that recommend this should be liable for the damage on the phones as no one, clearly states, that the you will have almost 100% probability of scramble the phone!
Twice got the phone repaired under guarantee now guarantee is over and I have this completely messed up.
Been there, done that....3 times!! So when I tell you this my friend, is with experience and awarness not because I have heard other talking.

I have pink screen can you restore my IMEI on stock GB?
Tell me how to do it becuase everytime I try to do it crashes the rom and I have to start all process of downgrading upgrading.
PLease note that I'm on this for a while so I have a little experience
Also, both times that went for repair, it cam with a complete new interior (board) and obviously new IMEI.
If there is a simple way of restoring the IMEI why don't the technicians of Huawei do it?
Or They have a thing for spending money is changing the hardware?
The second time I speciafically asked not to chnage the hardware and respective IMEI as I would have to again pay for an unlock code. They sent a reply saying the IMEI is saved on Factory and when lost it cannot be restored again. The only solution to correctly do it is by change the board for a new one, and by this you will also get a new IMEI.
No sir. I can't change my IMEI. My Imei now are different than before

Good afternoon everyone,
I have just bought a N4 with 4.2.2 installed on it. Right after turning it on for the first time it asked if I would like to install the new 4.3 version. Of course I said yes, and then ended up stucked in the X logo screen indefenitely. After this annoying situation I've been told that it could take up to 90 days to replace it on the store, so I used fastboot to return it to the stock 4.2.2 version, following the tutorial presented on this forum, the SO booted smoothly but after it my IMEI info is completely gone.
My concern lays primary on the warranty, and secondly, is there a noob tutorial on how to recover my original IMEI number with 4.2 ROM?
Thanks for your time and congratulations for the amazing forum.
After trying every single tutorial presented on this forum I gave up. Returned it back to the 4.2.2, unrooted, blocked the bootloader, upgraded to the 4.3 to generate the original error and called tech support. I will return the thing and get a new one.
I'm most certainly sure the problem lays on the baseband, something with the first 4.3 upgrade damaged files and the system isn't able to rebuild itself, and I couldn't find a way to do it manually.
Unfortunately I will avoid upgrading it to the 4.3 untill google says something about this bizarre bug that is making several people go nuts with android.
Have you tried reflashing the radio through fastboot? Maybe that will fix it.
Or maybe flash an older radio (eg. .27 or .33) and see if you get your baseband/IMEI back.

Both 27 and 33, not to mention 48 84, and every stock ROM I could find.
I have come to a conclusion that the problem do not lays on the radio I chose, because when I fastboot it shows me exactly which radio is installed. The problem seems to be that when I boot to android it fails loading the radio.

Hello guys I have been struggling for a couple days after my phone was soft bricked and I was searching for a nandroid backup of the US version Virgin mobile backup. I have finally found one, thanks to a friend whos name I really dont know...
If you have time to Read through my whole post then go ahead otherwise I will post the backup link below...
So it it all started when I got my HTC Desire 816 from virgin mobile, and the day I got it I was so impressed by the phone... snappy processor and excellent display as well as the speakers.. I then went on rooting the device and installed a custom recovery CWM, and started experimenting from there. What came around and bit me in the butt is the fact that I have been using an iPhone (5s 64GB) for Virgin Mobile and completely forgot about the whole android backup/restore system that was designed in the custom recovery... I have gone back and forth between apple and android devices but i have always found myself back using android and my experience with it has been remarkable.. I have bricked many devices before but not once have I ever bricked and one of my devices ( Galaxy S2, Galaxy s3, Volt, ) to a point where it became a expensive paperweight. In other words every bricked device I had i found a solution to unbrick it. This was the case with the HTC desire 816 as well. My original intent was to get the Galaxy s5 from Virgin Mobile but the same day I found out that Virgin Mobile released a new phone the HTC desire 816 and for half the price of the s5. I know it was destiny and the same day I bought the htc desire 816. I bragged to my friends that this is a new phone that just came into the us and only Virgin mobile has this phone. The negative part to having a phone that was just released into US are the fact that there are no accessories for this phone in any stores in the US, and everything needs to be bought online, and the second part is that no online forums have yet to talk about the US version of this phone.
I am now beggining to get to the part of my adventure with the HTC Desire 816. If you have read everything so far, i can only say that this will be over soon.,,, lol So after rooting the HTC desire 816, I looked through many forums looking for information about tweaks and apps for this phone. Since i have been using an iphone ffor the last couple months I forgot all the tweaks and apps I used to use for my previous androids, and because of this i also forgot to create a nandroid backup of my device. This is when I came into trouble when i was removing bloatware from my device installed by virgin mobile, and I installed Titanium backup and I started freezing (Disabling) apps that i though i wouldnt need and that would cause my device to run slower. So here I am sitting at work messing around with my phone and deleting system apps. I ran into this app called HTC Blinkfeed and I thought that this app was like the others and just caused my device to run slower. Little that i knew that this following action would cause a snowball affect and screw me over. So right after I disabled HTC Blinkfeed I tried to go to my home page but i was greeted with a simple black screen. At this point my whole life would have been made easier if I just went back into the setiings and unfroze the app. But no i then restarted my phone and I was stuck on the HTC boot logo screen... I was so scared thinking that i bricked my device after only a week... I tried to enter recovery mode several times but I failed to, and the reason was that fastboot was on and the only way to turn off fastboot was to disable that in the settings... At that point I knew that my phone was bricked and I am screwed... thank goodness that htc has a built in feature where that if the bootloader is tampered with and the usb cable is connected to a computer then it automatically goes into recovery mode. At that point I started to looking through threads about HTC Blinkfeed being disabled and what should i do next. After no success in the HTC Desire 816 forum I went onto looking to the HTC one m8 (Sprint) forum because i knew that these phone are closely alike. No success there either and I started thinking of other alrternatives... I though that if i found a flashable zip of htc blinkfeed that flashing that through recovery would fix this problem. But unfortunately it did not. I was very disappointing about this phone, and the only help i could find was about indian and chinese versions of this phone. I contacted HTC and asked them if they had a backup or RUU for this phone and VM version but no luck there. I then found a nandroid backup of this device... but it was a thailand version and i decided that I might as well of just install that and use it as a tablet with wifi.... That worked well and the phone was restored and working... but now i had no service and running in a foreign language. I started looking and messaging members who posted on xda about having problems with the hTC desire 816 VM variant. I couldnt find any help there and I went to anther forum in search for help. I searched through youtube videos and messages members there asking for their help... not a single person responded and I was stuck using a fancy wifi tablet phone. then I started searching for this phone on Craigslist hoping that someone was selling this phone in my local area hoping that it was rooted and that they could help me out. I only found 1 post of this phone in craigslist for virgin mobile and he lived about 200-300 miles away. I started text messaging him asking about the phone and he said that it was not rooted.... I knew that my luck ran out and that was my last straw and I should wait untill this phone came out of sprint and then i would surely find a backup. I started texting this person and it came out that he is also well versed in the art of the root... lol he knew about rooting and recovery and ruus... I started asking him if he could create a backup of the device and after a very long conversation he said that he would give it a shot. I thought that this was a typical excuse to get me off him. So i deicded to keep on searching for other ways to fix this issue. I found a post of the RUU for europe and thought that I could install it and maybe this version would work. I then talked to some staff on a different forum and they told me that I should not under any circumstances install a ruu for a different version of this device and that it could fry my phone. I then thought that perhaps running a Thailand backup would fry my sim card and then i was left hopeless of every having this phone workingt again.
Then I receive a message from my CL friend saying that he rooted the device and he is creating a backup... that was the best news i have heard and i knew that this could revive my phone. The worst thing about it was that my friend had 100 kb/s upload speed and the backup was 2GB.... It took several hours and his computer froze... So i had to wait another couple hours after that before his backup was uploaded.
I am proud to say that my faith in humanity is restored and I have a working HTC Desire 816! I dont know this persons name but I am very happy that there are people on this planet that would go out of there way to help another person. I have learned alot through this experience and I hope that this backup of the US version will help you too! Link will be posted below.

I have yet to try it but as far as I know, this is what we have right now.

I don't think this comes directly from a VM variant but I know the CWM posted there worked for our phones. The stock recovery is probably the same for all 816's.
Again, this is just an assumption so please take it as it is.

Edit: Scratch that......tried the link 4 times in a row and it failed. On the 5th time it allowed me to download. Seems to be fickle?
Ill re-upload it and get back with a new link
When trying to download it, webpage just died and i refreshed it then it downloaded, the original nandroid backup was not on my google drive, i just re uploaded it to my Google drive ad i will update the link
I can't thank you enough for the stock restore. I had no working Wi-Fi until I got this up and running.

I don't think this comes directly from a VM variant but I know the CWM posted there worked for our phones. The stock recovery is probably the same for all 816's.
Again, this is just an assumption so please take it as it is.

I flashed it to the a5chl and it worked, I quickly went back to CWM though.
I restored the backup and it went back to Cyanogen mod?
You didnt clear cache or data?
sim/unlock
Hello. I risenly bought an desire 816 from virgin mobile, and i bought and unlock code from a page. The problem is that when i insert other sim card the unlock screen don't appear. I factoy reset the phone but still nothing.
So this only my devise or is the same for all or what iam missing?
Hi all
Wondering if anyone can help me.
I rooted my phone and installed the Cyanogen lollipop ROM for my device (910F, international, UK, EE). Everything's fine, except I have no IMEI number and so can't access the mobile network. The baseband is unknown, as is the IMEI, but I CAN access wifi. I KNOW this was stupid, but I didn't have a backup. I can see the IMEI number from the back of the device, it's just a question of getting it back onto the phone. I've spent the last several hours trying to fix it, but am stuck. All the searches I've done have come up blank too - none of the numbers I've found to go into command mode work.
Any ideas?
Samsung customer care is the only solution. You should have read instructions carefully before flashing custom toms

One thing I've noticed about these threads in the past, lots of I told you so type comments - I've already noted that myself, thanks very much for the reminder.
Got it fixed, ha! So much for the doom and gloom, eh?

I reinstalled the stock ROM and everything's up and running again.
Help dev does not start any custom rom gives me the error that could not mount EFS but i installed the firmware i9505 and resibo calls and messages and the imei is there but install any custom rom and stays in the rom logo already I do not know what to do, please help me And some more I have a file that says efs.autobackup.img weighs 14 mb and I do not remember which application is restored
Is the model # gt-i9505 in download mode? You're flashing the correct TWRP to the phone?
@audit13: He spammed multiple development threads back on the 27th, complaining of the same issue, except he had completely lost his EFS. My answer to him was to get the phone serviced, because the issue at hand wasn't caused by these ROMs, but user error.

Yes, I have the twrp 3.0.2.0 jfltexx the point is that no custom rom starts me while the stock based ones start normally
Sounds like it could be an issue specific to your phone.
Stock ROMs are quite stable and easily rooted to remove or add apps.

In fact installs a ROM that is called imperium v16 and which caused me all this leaving me without EFS folder, even I complain in your forum did everything to the letter but I have not found the solution because no personalized rom initiates me

Friend how I'm telling you just happens to me with the custom roms based on samsung stock me work and I initiate perfectly, and I apologize for my english I'm from colombia greetings
No need to apologize. Your English is fine.
I understand that your phone works only with a stock ROM. I'm not a developer so I can't really say why it does not work with a custom ROM.
@luisfelipevides: If Imperium ROM caused the issue, which I highly doubt, then confine your answers to that ROM's thread. Do not spam other development threads with the same nonsense, because as I told you in the JDC AOSP 7.1.1 thread, it's not a ROM issue. Your spam should be removed shortly, as I reported it to the mods to deal with.
You could have helped your own cause here by making sure you backed up your EFS by using Wanam EFS Backup or (better) Wanam Partition Backup. Now your EFS is gone, and your only real recourse is to either try and restore it using that .img file you have and EFS Backup, or taking your phone in for service and paying Samsung for the privilege of fixing your phone.
Things like this are what happens when you are in the mindset that rooting and custom ROMs are fun or cool, rather than the serious business it actually is. Had you done proper research in this forum, using the search engine XDA provides, you would have discovered that the number one thing to do after rooting the device is to make a backup of the EFS folder! Instead, you left things to chance and got burned. Now you have to deal with the consequences.
