How to put my vega in nvflash mode? - Vega General

How to do I put my vega in nvflash mode? I have a custom rom now and I did that before but I forget how. Everywhere where I read I get steps to get into ClockworkRecovery Mod but I need to get into nvflash. I want to instal a new rom but I stuck on this little thing

Hi there
This has been covered before, lots of times. Please use the search function before starting a new thread. It just adds clutter to a great forum.
Here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1179538 i answered in post 7.
And Here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=989216
Take it easy

I read that and I tried that. What I get is that power off screen with, power off, restart, recover options and when I push power button slighty less my screen shuts down but nvflash doesn't apear in device manager, nothing happens

Nothing appears on the screen until you start the rom install. Check its in the right recovery in your device manager on the pc. Nvidia recovery should appear in the usb section. If not reinstall the usb drivers from the advent website.
Good luck.

Rememeber that the vega must be plugged.

I finally did it, thanks a lot! The problem was what you don't need to push buttons for 2 seconds each, just 1 second hold did the trick

Actually it is easy to put your Vega type tablet into nvflash mode without a power cable attached -
1 Press Poer button to start boot.
2 As soon as the screen lights up, press and hold down the POwer button until the boot is aborted and the tablet goes back to being pwered down.
3) Immediately start the Back Button, Power buttin, Back button routine and the tablet will now successfully go into nvflash mode.
Enjoy.

[How-To] Button combos for the Blessed

Bricked your phone? You've come to the right place, if you're one of the blessed. A lot of the newer Captivates have button combinations disabled. Before you go modding your phone, make sure that you can get into download or recovery using these button combos. If you can't, your best bet is to return your phone to an AT&T store and beg for a new one.
THE BUTTON COMBOS
Power-power
Download-volume up+volume down+plug in usb cord
Recovery-volume up+volume down+power
There you have it. Thanks for reading.
What is the point of this when there are 3 methods in the Odin 3 one click thread which is a sticky? Just curious how this deserves its own thread.
When my phone was stuck at the Galaxy S logo, i was able to send the adb reboot recovery command to it to get into recovery mode.
Are bricked phones normally stuck at the logo too, or was it just me?
I wanted to link to just the button combos in the bible. Also, the one click Odin isn't a sticky anymore.
From mah fonez
Why don't you just link to a single post in a thread or post in the odin thread and link to that single post? Just a suggestion so there isn't too many threads started for just a little information like you posted. Great work on the bible though. Glad to see a lot of stuff being compiled into one thread.
How does this relate to development? With a title like this, i thought we had some button hacks.
BAH!
You should also include more than the button combinations as well if you're going to make this post useful. Simply holding the volume buttons + power will do absolutely nothing on my phone. I spent a good amount of time looking for more detailed instructions on recovery mode when the phone was new and no one posted them. There are also a lot of posts that talk about the at&t splash screen flashing and when to release the buttons but that's not terribly useful either. Download mode is a little more covered but still has lots of people giving different instructions. For those the future new people that might read this thread,
For Recovery mode:
Power off
Hold both volume buttons
Push power
Release power when you see the AT&T splash screen
Release the volume buttons a second or so later
After the splash screen goes away you should be in recovery mode
Continuing to hold all three buttons will simply cause the AT&T splash screen to flash at you. I can also continue to hold the volume buttons after releasing power but it is not needed.
For Download mode:
Power Off
Plug USB into computer
Hold both volume buttons
Plug USB into phone
The above will immediately send my phone into download mode. For flashing, most people recommend the steps below to maximize the chance of success with Odin
Power off
Remove battery, sim, microsd
Open Odin
Plug USB into computer
Hold both volume buttons
Plug USB into phone
Put battery in
You should now be in download mode and free to flash with odin.
I agree with the holding volume up and down while plugging the phone into the computer with Odin opened and configured to flash soon as it detects the phone.
All other methods only add confusion.
How do I get out of download mode?
oh nvm, I just removed battery and I could reboot it fine.
I am stuck on this screen
h ttp://img820.imageshack.us/img820/530/screenshotzz.jpg (remove space I can't post links)
I am on downloading mode but the screen looks like this I am using windows 7 64bit, I tried installing 32 bit on another partition to see if it helped but it didn't
Am I missing something or do you have to have something installed before the procedure

You have odin started before you plugged in your usb cable into your phone or computer? Does you computer recognize you phone in mass storage mode? The screen shot you provided shows the phone is not recognized by odin.
I got it now but I am stuck even further odin finished no errors and now the phone just loops on the att logo, or if I try to plug the usb both up and down volume buttons pressed to enter recovery mode again it just loops the battery charging any ideas thanks
This is all covered thoroughly in the "READ BEFORE FLASHING" sticky. Which everyone should read BEFORE flashing!!! Hey, what a coincidence.

F**king vibrant

Ok I've looked everywhere, maybe not well enough but I have and I can't find the answer to my question. I installed the new official 2.2 on the 10th when it came out in canada here. My phone has worked "ok" for the past 2 days. (lots of new force closes and some major lag in some spots that didn't happen in 2.1) but that's besides the point. Today i was trying to set up a new wallpaper and all of a sudden the screen started flashing on and off. I couldn't do anything to stop it except pull the battery. Now when I turn on the phone it just flashes the opening screen that says "Galaxy S blah blah". and the only way I can stop that is pull the batt. I've tried hard resetting and all that but it always gets stuck at the openning screen. Now I'm still noobish to android stuff. Was too scared to flash anything before the official so if you have any advice that involves other programs/pc i'd appreciate a point in the direction of a walkthrough.
I'd hate to have to send it in and wait the 2 months it takes samsung canada to get it back to me.
Thanks.

Look up the "jig" solution. That will be guaranteed to set your device on Download Mode.
It was the same problem with my Vibrant. Solved with JTAG controller. But you'll waste your warranty in that way. Try jig solution first

option 1
METHOD 2: STUCK AT VIBRANT SCREEN:
(and are not able to use vol+ vol- methods to access downloader/recovery)
You will need the samsung ADB drivers installed for your phone as well as ADB...
ACCESS DOWNLOAD MODE
1) remove back cover and take our sim card and sd-card.
2) take out the battery
3) hold ALL 3 buttons down at the same time. (Vol +, Vol -, Power)
4) while holding down those 3 buttons put the battery back in
5) continue holding all 3 buttons until the vibrant disappears and reappears... once it reappears, release all 3 buttons
6) Setup ODIN and get it all setup and ready... (if you are flashing your phone via odin)
6) now connect your phone to your pc via USB cable
7) open a cmd prompt and navigate to the folder with ADB and type ADB REBOOT DOWNLOAD
8) Your phone will reboot into the download screen... go back to ODIN - A com port should now appear for your phone...
9) Click start and wait for your phone to do its thing
Option 2
***First you must have ROOT***
Download Terminal Emulator from the Market
open terminal emulator
**you may need to change to default android keyboard for proper inputting
1.) type "su" and press enter
a dialog box will appear asking for root access and say yes (obviously)
2.) type "reboot recovery" and press enter
at that moment, ur phone should reboot into Download Mode to load Alternate firmwares for like Eugene's Vibrant4 ROM etc......
this it what it should look like...
#su
#reboot download
Option 3
or you can download and install quick boot from the market which you then can make a shortcut to reboot into recovery with just one click
Sometimes it takes more than one try to get into download mode. I just take the battery out for a little while. Put it back in and hold only the volume up and down buttons while it is off and plug in the USB cable.
One thing though, when holding down the up and down volume buttons, it is very easy to mistakenly press the power button because it is exactly opposite of it.

[Q] Help to un-brick the vega

Hi there,
I´ve a Vega and I installed de vegacomb build 7. Discovered that once it was power off it stucks in the vegacomb logo endlesly. I updated to build 8.1 and the same problem came across.
I found a GTab rom and as the tablet has multiple names (mine´s is actually called dvc p10 P10AN class 3G version) I installed it by error.
Now there is no way to plug it to de PC in recovery mode again and it doesn´t start at all, the screen seems to get on, but nothing happens.
The power-back button combination doesn´t work any more. Any suggestion?
Thnx a lot!
make sure the tablet is fully charged and plugged into the
Mains when you try to enter recovery. It should get there in the end.
Please post questions in the general section. This is for development only!
Mods please move this thread.
This sort of happened to me, try this.

3. Now insert the charging cable and the USB cable from the PC to the Vega.
4. Hold the back button for 2 seconds.
5. While still holding the back button ton hold the power for 2 seconds.
6. Then let go of the power button still holding the back button when is hardware wizard

Sorry if its not the appropiate section. I posted here because brick mostly happens as a result of a failure of a ROM issue. Move it if you thinks it´s not the place.
I´ve tried B1scu1T method and still nothing.
Regards
In your Windows desktop make sure you're looking at the device manager to ensure you can see if a device is detected. Also make sure you have sound, it helps to know when a deviced is plugged.
Fully charge the Vega.
Make sure the charger is plugged into the Vega
Connect the USB cable from the Vega to a tested USB port directly on the PC (not into a USB hub)
Press and hold back and then press power on the Vega.
Hope it works!
I´ve tried the back-power button combination as I always do, the thing is now the device is not recongnized by de PC. Nothing appears.
Don´t know if anyone has another combination of buttons or solution.
Thanks again, when this is solved we can go back to the enless logo at the start, but now I have this previous problem.
sometimes it doesnt show anything on the screen.
so your Vega will have black screen. follow procedure to put it in recovery mode then execute DEFAULT EXE from Vega website it will open CMD window and tell you that device is not connected or just start installing.
if it says not connected then try again to put it in recovery mode etc till you get install running. It will work AFAIK recovery on Vega + hardware buttons makes it brick proof but i might be wrong there is always first time
Goomy
After millions of tries it finally works!... Now we can go to the problem with the endless logo loop at the start up of the vegacomb 8.1.
Thanks a lot!... and never try a rom from other tablet!
See you in the ROM forum!

[Solved-Q] Must be a moron, but I just can't get vol+/power-button to CWM-R to work

This is a painful message to write, but I am desparate. This should be so simple!
Have a U8800 standard (at least it says only "U8800" in settings/about phone.
What have I done:
- Upgraded some time ago to 2.3.5 Rev B522 from Huawei.
- Then rooted it with SuperOneClick.
- Installed ClockWorkMod from Play Store.
- Downloaded CWM Recovery 5.5.0.4 stable from xda and placed the file into the /.cust-backup/image folder via Remount.
- Turned off Fast boot under settings/applications
:: What worked/happened.
- Rooting went fine, ES file explorer and others get root-permissions ok.
- But got into CWMRecovery only via CWM program (Choosing "Reboot into recovery"). Never with the holding buttons vol+ and power-button during power-on.
Figured it was that locked bootloader on B522 that was the problem.
What I did:
- Followed the instructions in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1457490 (Get your pink screen back).
- In CWM Recovery flashed "update-B518-bootloader.zip".
- Got "ok installed or something to that effect" from CWM Recovery.
:: What worked/happened.
- Still could not get into CWMRecovery via button-holding. Tried reflashing the B518 bootloader a few times, but just no difference.
Read somewhere that each Huawei firmware-release comes with it's own bootloader, so lets try to install Huawei B518.
- Only place I could find the image was here http://huaweiideosx5.blogspot.no/2012/03/u8800-b518-23-software.html
- U8800V100R001C00B518G001.zip
- Had to take out the external SD-card to get the /sdcard/dload directory on the internal SD-card.
-Seems to be important to have dload on the internal SD-card and not the external.
- Booting the phone with vol+, vol-, power did not start the downgrade, but was able to trigger it via settings/storage/software upgrade.
After downgrade to B518 (Checked version in settings/about phone):
- Deleted /sdcard/dload directory.
- Rooted with SuperOneClick
- Installed ClockWorkMod from play store again.
- Put CWM Recovery 5.5.0.4 into ./cust_backup/image again (think this was unecessary. I think it was already there but did it anyways)
- Turned off Fast boot under settings/applications.
:: What worked/happened.
- The phone is now in B518 software, but still can not get into CWM Recovery via keypressing at boot.
I hold the vol+ and power-buttons all the way to "desktop" so to say, but can not for the life of me get into CWM Recovery that way. Getting into CWM recovery 5.5.0.4 via instructing CWM application to boot into recovery works fine, though.
I am drooling at the thought of ICS Aurora, but I don't dare before I can reliably get into CWM Recovery via keypress.
Sorry if this is very stupid post, but I have tried so much.
Maybe the volume buttons are faulty? Turn off the phone and try this: hold down volume up; while holding press power button as long as the logo comes up. Release power button but continue holding volume up. If it did not work, try doing same with volume down.
Yeah, do what Blefish advised you but do it while the phone is off and charging. I have a kinda broken power key and with this 'trick' it boots faster and more reliable. Keep holding the 3 buttons until you see the recovery.
Sent from my U8800
Thank you both for trying to help me here!
Unfortunately I have had no luck with your suggestions.
Re: Broken keys.
Power and volume-buttons seems to work well when the phone is on. Also when I boot into recovery through the CWM program, navigate to advanced/key-test, the vol+, vol- and power button seems to work well there too.
On pressing the power-button, CWM-R reports Key: 116
On pressing the vol+-button, CWM-R reports Key: 115
On pressing the vol--button, CWM-R reports Key: 114
So I think the keys must be ok, right?
Blefish: I did what you suggested, as I understood it.
When the phone boots, there are three stages of logos.
1. A static logo of Huawei's red "fan?".
2. A short "comet" animation.
3. An animated logo of Huawei's "fan", where some highlight flashes from left to right over the fan.
I hold the power-button in until I see the first static logo, then let go of the power-button and hold the volume-key(s).
Is this the same stage in the boot-process that you were thinking of?
I have tried vol+, vol- and both vol+ and vol-, together with releasing the power-button at that point.
Have not had any success with that, and ended on the "desktop" each time.
AceDroidX: I tried your suggestion as well.
I did this:
1. Shut down the telephone
2. Plugged in the power.
3. A "fan"-logo appears which is replaced by an animated battery.
4. Upon seeing the animated battery, I tried the various key-hold variants.
- vol+ and power : Ended up at desktop.
- vol- and power : Ended up at desktop.
- vol+ and vol- and power : Ended up at desktop.
So not much success either.
I am out of ideas... Can it be that B522 bootloader that still lingers in there, not replaced by installing the B518 software?
Well, idk what else to suggest.. Maybe your problem is here?
Downloaded CWM Recovery 5.5.0.4 stable from xda and placed the file into the /.cust-backup/image folder via Remount.

I remember that when i mount my phone in linux, there was a partition with just the image folder. Some files like boot.img and recovery.img where there. Try to put the recovery image in there and see if it makes any difference.
I'd like see your versioninfo, can you upload a screenshot?
You can check mine from B528
AceDroidX: When I use Remount, I am able to mount that partition as read/write so that I can copy CWM's Recovery image in there. I think it is identical as mounting it up remotely, as you do. I am after all able to boot into CWM-Recovery, just not by key-pressing? I suppose I could boot into Linux and try to mount up the partitions as you do.

Based on the screenshots your installation is fine.
Just one last shoot based on what AceDroidX says, with phone off press Vol+ and hold then connect USB cable to PC or charger and stay holding Vol+ then wait...wait and what you see?
hi all,
i'm using some ics roms and it seems ics supports natively vol++power button to take screenshots but it doesnt work for me... do you know if there are some custom ics rom where it will work?
thank you
Wow.. It is hard to believe.. but I have actually ... eventually found a way to get into that CWM-Recovery every time.
It is a combination of your suggestions.
I have been doing variations, trying to figure something out and eventually there is a method.
What I must do, on this phone, in order to get into CWM-R is this:
1. If the charging cable is in, then unplug first.
2. Turn the phone off.
3. Take out the battery and put it back in.
- This makes a difference on my phone, at least. I am not able to get into CWM-R wihtout taking the battery out first.
4. Press and hold Vol+
5. With Vol+ being pressed continously, insert the charging-cable.
6. Wait for the Fan-animation to finish and the "battery-charging" animation to start.
7. When the battery-charging animation is running and the screen eventually goes black, keep holding the Vol+ button for some time.
- Sometimes it works to keep holding the Vol+ button for only a second or two. Sometimes I must hold it up to 30 seconds.
7. Press and hold the power-button in addition to the Vol+
8. Wait for CWM-Recovery to start.
Thank you very much for your help.
Now I think I can try for ICS!

Try Vol- and Power ON

key combination won't work for download mode

No matter how many times I have tried, the combination of Vol Down+Home+Power together does nothing, the phone just continues to load normally, I cannot access download mode.
My S5 (G900F) is on Android 6.0.1, which was the last software update for the phone, I would like to try 7(Nougat) but can't get anywhere near rooting or flashing.
The phone functions fine as it is, but for the last ?? Years I have used Windows Phones so android of quite alien to me but more preferable than apple. I would like to check out what's available in different builds.
anyone any ideas why it won't let me in, USB is enabled and it is in developer mode.
It can be a bit fiddly to do when you're starting off. What I normally do is press and hold in order volume down, home and then power. The boot wont start unless you press the power button so what this does is ensure that the other 2 are pressed by the time you press the power button. Only stop holding all 3 buttons down when it boots into download mode. Hope this helps

It doesn't work, That is what I have been doing, The Galaxy s5 screen appears, I keep holding, it disappears, vibrates and re-appears, I keep holding and it disappears again, vibrates and re-appears, it does this 5 times before I get fed up and release the power button and then the other 2, it then goes into the Samsung screen and continues loading, sometimes it goes to the "Optimising Apps" mode with the two spinning cogs before finishing the load sequence.
Thanks for the suggestion but it's not playing as it should.

Thanks for the help, now we have a tale of woe. some things were best not touched, after following a fairly well detailed account of updating to Android 7 the screen filled with line after line of red text and froze.
I had to remove the battery to turn it off, now I have a brick that will not boot. I get the Samsung Galaxy S5 flash screen with a little yellow "Set Warranty Bit : kernel" at the top of the screen.
I think I had better post a new thread about this.

Questions that will help in assisting you: Can you still boot into download or recovery mode? What nougat ROM did you flash? What steps did you take to flash the nougat ROM? What happened?
If you can enter download mode, then you can reflash a stock ROM via odin to hopefully save your S5, you can find one on Sam Mobile. Without the right info, that is the best general advice I can give.
You can try posting a new thread to hopefully recruit more help. If you decide to do so, include the answers to the questions I have posted above. Otherwise, I am happy to attempt to assist you in recovering the functionality of your S5 on this thread.

No, I can't get into download or recovery, I have tried with the 3 key combo and using ADB, the first still refuses to work and the ADB doesn't find the device.
