I use google voice. I've deactivated it and reactivated it. Neither services have any voicemails. How can I just delete the notification? I've also tried leaving a message then deleting it and nothing.
my previous phone was a nexus 1 and when i came back to wp7 i first deactivated gvoice on google's end and it still never reverted back to my old voicemail settings. i wound up having to go into the att store and have my voivemail re-provisioned.

I have the att nexus one and my phone always says I have new voice mail even though I don't. My phone is currently synced with google voice, but even when I removed google voice and checked my att voice mail there still were no messages. Anyone run into this problem before?
I did. You need to double check that you have no VMs in your old ATT voicemail box. To check this... check the number that an ATT phone dials to look up VMs. If you manually dial that, you can empty your in box.
If this donest work, try to set the vm back to ATT, send yourself a VM and delete it.
Thanks, that ended up working. I had to record a new voice mail on att and then had to delete the new voice mail to make the notification go away.
No Problem. And enjoy your Att N1... I know i LOVEEEEE mine.
The voice mail notification is there but I have no voice mails. I have looked everywhere and cant find how to get rid of it. Can anyone help?
Guess I am alone on this I have deleted Google Voice, called my old voice mail number and made sure that there was nothing there, factory reset and wiped it. I have no clue how to clear this notification. This along with the left side of my touch screen being unresponsive might just have to take it back.
It's down to the carrier to clear it, not you.
Leave yourself a vm, then delete it... Bingo!

I had the same problem. Soon as I got my phone, the voicemail icon appeared.
If you're using Google Voice, this is how I fixed it:
Change voicemail from Google Voice to My Carrier.
Settings > Call Settings > Voicemail Service
Stop Voicemail Forwarding:
Go to google.com/voice > Settings > Deactivate Google voicemail on this phone
(If you're with T-Mobile, it's: ##004#)
Then call your number and listen to your non-existing voicemail. Once you hung up, the notification should be gone.
You can change the setting back to normal (voicemail carrier and voicemail Forwarding).
To re-activate voicemail forwarding (for T-Mobile):
*004*1----------#
Replace dashes with your 10-digit Google Voice number.
Hope that helps.

This is what I did when I got mine. I had the same problem.

I had this issues when I got my Nexus S, I had AT&T, Google Voice, then ported my number to T-Mobile. I had a Voicemail from 805 number (T-Mobile), took a while to properly port over. I tried all kinds of things, then after my AT&T SIM finally disabled, I turned off GV, called my own, left a voicemail, checked the voicemail and it fixed itself. Now back to GV for voicemails.
Thank you for all the suggestions I didnt get to read this till after I got home from work. I ended up taking my phone back and got a replacement. As soon as I popped my sim in the voicemail notification popped up. Same problem as before so I drove home. I called T-Mobile and switched to the new sim card that came with the phone. Called my voice mail hung up the notification is gone. So somehow my sim card was causing the error.
I have had my EVO for close to 6 months now without ever having an issue. I have been running MIUI for a little over a month and never had any issues. I recently just updated to the newest build, and when i restored all my apps (one of which was google voice) i realized i stopped receiving my text messages. After researching the issue i found a ton of similar people saying that google voice was the cause of it. So i set my google voice up and tested it.. and i WAS able to get my texts but only if i use the Google Voice. I have tried to uninstall and reinstall it like 50x, and i've gone onto google.com/voice and disabled it and re-enabled it 50x. I have checked the box that says 'Allow text messages to go to this phone' or something like that, I've checked every possible setting on Google Voice.. Nothing. So i figured okay, I'll do a full factory reset back to Sense. I DID THIS, AND STILL NOTHING, so then i did a full factory reset, and didn't sign into my Google Account, still no texts. Basically it's like Google Voice has taken my phone number over and is not allowing my text messages to go through and no matter what i do to disable or uninstall it, nothing works.. I have to use google voice to get my texts.. So then i contact Sprint and i've spoken to 3 different reps who have tried everything from their end even attempting to remove google voice from their end to get my texts to go through. I've done everything but change my number. Right now i'm on sense and Another thing i realized is.. I cannot do the ## commands in the phone dialer.. Like two commands i know are ##DATA# and another is ##MSL-CODE# but when i type them in .. the phone dialer just hangs and freezes and no menu comes up. I've done almost 5 factory resets, I've tried not logging into my google account on my phone, I've uninstalled google voice from my phone and from my PC.. Sprint is telling me that they'll waive my 100 fee for the insurance phone, but since i run MIUI, the new insurance phone wont be able to be rooted and i'll be stuck with SENSE and i do not want that. DOES ANYONE, ANYONE AT ALL Have any clue what-so-ever that might be the cause or any hack or possible thing i could do to fix this, and why do you think that the ## codes are not working on my stock sense rom either? Everything else on my phone works entirely fine except receving texts through my native app and using those codes on my sense rom in the dialer. I can't receieve texts on MIUI or Sense through their native apps... the only way to get them is through Google Voice.. Please anyone! HELP ME!
Google voice did that to me, too and I had to work my ass off to get it to go away!
Finally, I went to the website and my settings and got it to stop doing text messages, and then I called the number you call to get it to stop handling my calls.
Here ya go

That's because the phone number is associated with Google voice, not your account, so a factory reset wouldn't help pas the number is still there
Nevermind, just ignore this post.
Hey for some reason i have two voicemails stuck in the status bar. they will not go away, when i click to listen to them it goes to a voice mail then says invalid and some numbers and hangs up. is there any way i can get them out of my status bar. i have fully wiped my phone and installed a new rom and they still appeared back in my status bar.
thanks
Did you ever switch over to Google Voice for voicemail? Sprint has a bug with voicemail that prevents you from listening to voicemail once you switch to Google Voice and then stop using it. Either check your Google voice settings and reenable voicemail there, or call Sprint and ask them to switch you back to their voicemail service.

i recently got my nexus, and tried using sprint visual voice mail, and it didnt work, so i deleted it. and then that message got stuck up there and now i recently set up google voice, but its still suck idk what is going on with it.
I have an answer for you so please hit the thank you if this helps because I had this problem. Deactivate google voice for a minute and then dial your full phone number. (NO SHORT CUTS like holding 1 or *86)
This allows you to set up your sprint vm so you can delete the message. Once deleted hurry nd set up google voice.
Good luck!
yea, how do i deactivate it? i tried signing out and then calling my number but it went to the google voice thing again saying i had no messages...
Sign into gv and click on settings. Then deactivate your account
um thats not an option, it has sign out, which i did...but when i called it still went to the gv still for some reason...im not sure what to do...even before i signed up for gv the vm notifications were stuck in the bar
Try from your computer
hey, it worked, thanks so much!
No problem! Glad i could help! Enjoy!
All of a sudden a few days ago, Google Voice no longer gets my voicemails. TMobile voicemail (non-visual voicemail) is now my voicemail... I checked settings and it still shows Google Voice. Any ideas? Thanks.

Go to your phone's settings. Go to voicemail settings. Even though it reads GV in the settings, switch to tmobile or carrier. Once that is completed, immediately switch back to GV and a prompt will come up reflecting the change.
To test, go try to access your VM by longpressing 1 on your phone. If GV picks up, you should be good to go.
Worked! THANK YOU!
