[Q] I have a bit of a problem... - Continuum General

So my phone is softbricked, so i tried to flash the stock DL17 with Odin to get it
back. But every time i try, it ends up saying FAIL! at the end. So what went wrong,
and what else can i try to do to unbrick my phone?

What rom were you trying to flash? What steps did you use? Need some more info to help.

Assuming your talking about a Fascinate, there is an Odin recovery pacakage and directions in the dev forum. Follow those and youll be back to stock in no time. I already had to earlier when I bricked mine toying with things. Its pretty easy

Bless your heart for answering but how am I gonna do that when I can't get into the phone?
Sent from my DROID2 using XDA App
Like I told you before. Follow the directions on the page. You use Odin. The directions are all there, you boot the phone into download mode and flash files one at a time. Just follow the directions and you will be fine. It takes five minutes.

Is it normal that everytime I try to go back to stock it wont work?

Yes well everytime I go and use odin it always gets stuck and I have to unimntall the drivers then re install to make it work.
It bothers me and is it my phone or my pc?
Its windows 7 and I have no clue.!?!

Not normal at all, I run win 7 64 bit and never have a problem using odin to go back to stock. I would guess it's your computer. If you can get your hands on another computer try it to see if you can conclude which is the problem.
try using heimdall, it's like odin. i've had one not work at times while the other does.
Im hoping its the phone as that can easily be replaced.

make sue you are on the latest version of Odin. Also for some downgrading Odin has worked.
Nope. Have used different ODIN versions and all get stuck in the middle.

Why do u need it unrooted? Do you mean debugging mode or download mode? Did you follow video instructions? If you can get into download mode by holding down "1" key and power while phone is off, Odin should work and get you back to 2.3 with root. There is a tar you can Odin with clockwork included. Then all you have to do is flash the su.zip through clockwork, to obtain root.

may be a bad download. try downloading the modem again.
Reboot your computer. Sometimes the driver gets mucked up.

sounds like it, sometimes, I've found that different versions have different outcomes, hence, asking for the version he was using.
I guess so? I tried older versions and it would not load all the way? so I downloaded this version 1.85 and it works??

I say it's more likely the USB cable. Mine do that. I just haven't gotten around to buying a new one that doesn't suck ass. I use 1.61 btw.

Yes when in doubt all you need to do is flash the stock rom via Odin of cause if you want to keep root you might want to use mobile odin pro
Thanks buddy was a bit worried after seeing all the stuff about leaked ics roms nd kernels nd that so there's deffo no chance I'll brick wen using Odin

As long as you are flashing a good image and you don't unplug the cable in the middle of it or loose power to your computer.
So using a stock image from samfirmwares would be fine then

indeed they should come in the form of a .md5 file anyway so it will check that it is not corrupt before flashing. You may find that when you reboot the note you get force closes etc just boot into recovery and wipe cache/data to fix this
Thanks a lot buddy really appreciated
