Yup, hard reset. You will lose all your settings if you don't back them up but it won't hurt anything.
..i tried the hard reset method..but..the tab still didn't appear..sighz..
Asian version don't have googlemap hence the location button is missing afaik.
Yes it says on the website that Asian version won't have this tab,but is there a way to manually install it? I'm planning to buy mine here in Taiwan but i'm still searching how to flash it from chinese OS to english OS. I'm really new to this stuff,
Touch 3G in Taiwan
Hi BH
You should be able to find some sellers that will convert it to English for you.
If you are in/near to Taipei, check "Nova" (Near Taipei Main Station) down on the lowest floor, there is an official HTC shop and in front of them is a non-official one...while the official one told me it was impossible to get an English version here, the store in front of it said...yeah fine, for a small extra charge they could do all that for me I can't remember how much the charge was, but pretty sure it was about 1000 NT or less. I didn't buy one but if I do, I will probably go back to them to get it.
Oh Thanks for the quick reply.Maybe I'll check that.

No need for that.
Get a registry editor, go to HKLM\Software\HTC\Manila2D\ and change the LocationWidget value from "0" to "1". Soft reset and you should see the location widget.
Additionally I had to install the google maps software, because it was not present on my device and the location widget didn't actually do anything, so you might need to do that too.
I have the latest rom version, purchased from PCCW in Hong Kong for HK$3100. It has the Map Search tab in Touchflo.

in HK.

Works fine to add the tab
To install the Google Maps Software :
Go to http://m.google.com on your pda (by using IE)
Go to Map and download the software
EDIT : Install it to the MAIN Memory !
I don't have locationwidget in my register!
I have the UK version...
Anyone a idea?
Have you tried creating it manually?
Its works!
But....when I click on the tab nothing happends
Can someone make it works?
As I said, you need to install the Google Maps application.
Go to http://m.google.com/maps and download it from there
EDIT: I forgot to mention that you have to install it to the main memory, not the storage card (we've been discussing that in another thread)
It works great!
I install it on de SD card en now on my device, that was the solution.
Thanks!
is that possible on the hd? after a thorough search over the internet i found an application called gpsproga that claims to allow you to save google maps on the storage card but to my luck it is in some weird ass looking language i think russian so i am back to square one :S.. the maps i need are for the middle east hence tomtom or other similar applications won't help me.

It is available for (jailbreaked, as no official Apple app) iPhones ... but someone might contact the author and see whether it is possible to port it to WM 6.1.
Cheers,

Hi,
Using IE and clicking into the address bar then entering a search term and clicking Go... T-Mobile are directing to Google!
I want it to go to Bing as it did on the ported HD2 rom I was using but I can't find the Search Provider option anywhere in settings.
Any suggestions how to change it? I'm hoping it isn't to do with debranding as I really would like to avoid flashing a rom just to fix it.
Can't believe how Bing is so integrated into the phone and T-Mobile are allowed to hijack the search to Google.

Nah you don't have to flash a new ROM (though there are benefits to doing so). There is actually a registry fix for this (but you'll need to dev unlock your phone).

Actually Operators do have agreement with different search engines within the browser.
From the home screen hitting the search button should bring up Bing.
But hitting the search button while the Internet Explorer is on your screen brings up what the operator has set as the default.
T-Mobile USA has Google
AT&T has Bing
Some UK devices go to Yahoo.
So it really depends on the operator and you can't do anything about it, besides hitting the Windows Button before hitting the search button

Oh. Well that's a bit crap.
Why don't you flash to a stock rom?
I've did it with an Orange Omnia 7.
+ You're the first to get updates...
Otherwise, you depend from your operator.

Ahh, brilliant. Thanks.
When I press the search button it sends me to Internet Explorer Bing page instead of showing the specific Bing Search screen! Why?

Thank you! That was the problem. The search language was Romanian. I changed it to English (United States) and now first I obtain the Bing Search Screen.
Hey,
I just set my phone to English to use Google Now but if i use Google maps navigation it will say every thing in English
it sounds horrible hearing the dutch called streets in English, so some one knows how to chance it to a Dutch voice?
(or other langues so i can try in dutch?)
I already search the forum and came out on a topic for the gallaxy s3 but it won't work.

Yup, you need to install more voices. This is referred to as a TTS (Text To Speech) library.. and the better ones will have voices in many languages and both genders.
So install for example Ivona TTS or SVOX Pro TTS - one of those should have a Dutch voice. Then set your preferences in the Android Settings > General > Language and Input > Text-to-speech options menu. And /or the associated app menu.
..
when i installed this app i just got the voice i download from the internet and put to the APK of Maps files manual.
So it is weird but it works thanks!
