Is there anything I can do about the shortcut icons on my homescreens not showing up after a restart sometimes? I know it has something to do with them being on the sd but I don't know why it does it.

Not sure, but try killing your launcher and restarting it after the sd has fully been mounted?

So my Tab app tray is a mess! I have lots of apps but unlike any other Android I have the added apps are 'shelter skelter'. Yes, that bad. Any help?

If you press the menu button while the app tray is open, it will give you an edit option. This will allow you to rearrange the apps in the app tray. I never could find an option to put them in alphabetical order, and new apps always insert themselves in the first open slot.
If you are looking for a way to make sure the app tray stays in alphabetical order, I would suggest trying a new launcher app. LauncherPro and ADW will both give you want you want and a whole lot more. I use Zeam as it is fast and doesn't get bogged down with too many options.
A bit like the iphone but worse

Hi there, so I have some annoying problems.
1. I have installed some clock widgets, about 3-4. But they are not showed in widgets list. But they are normally installed. I can see only when I uninstall and again install them.
2. There are also some disappearing apps in app drawer, for example "Buka lite", "VPlayer Advanced" etc. Sometimes they appear but after some time they again disappear ...

oops I hit thanks instead of reply lol
Anyway, if you move apps to sd widgets disappear.
They have to stay in internal memory
Yes, I tried that but nothing happens. After reboot are the widgets back and they are still available, so I guess the widgets problem si solved.
And the disappearing apps - I tried GO Launcher instead of the stock launcher, and yet it seems to be alright.
Thanks for the reply, the problems are solved

Sometime SD may not properly mount which may cause the problem you had.

Anyone else having trouble with their widgets. I flashed gingervillain to try out gb on my desire but I cannot seem to have my favourite widgets working. E.g simi clock, calendar pad, simi folder, digital clock widget. They simply do not appear in my home screen > add widget list.
Am I doing something wrong?
Do you have apps2sd installed? Maybe they are installed to SD-card? Try moving them to phone.
Thx, you were right. Apps are by default installed on SD card and moving then back allows me to use them on home screen.

Soft buttons (menu, back, home) and status bar keeps crashing. Is there a way to manually start it up besides rebooting the nook?

There's an app on the market, called Notification Restart that is supposed to handle that.
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.tenthstone.notification&feature=search_result
I've also found that if the statusbar FCs on you - it does restart itself if you just rotate the device so it draws between landscape/portrait - most of the time.
Thanks!

Update: unfortunately the application does not work and neither does the orientation change. Is rebooting the only way? It happens every couple of days and is a bit irritating... thanks

I don't know of any other way to get the soft-buttons / noti-bar to restart. Not sure why it crashes - I can only assume it's because of the soft-buttons (since noti-bar is such a basic thing). I know of no other way.
You *could* try and install the Home Switcher app - and another home/launcher. Maybe toggling between ADW and some other launcher, then back to ADW might bring it back alive again.
Since rebooting takes no time at all, I've never bothered with that if I have to reboot.
Check with rom manager to fix force close

Are there any apps that will let me open up 1 app when it looks like another? For example if I put the messaging app on my home screen can I press it and make it actually open the email app instead?

Nova launcher....can change app icons. Not sure what you really are trying to do though.

Well the problem is when you move the apps to the sd card..if you reboot they drop out of any folders you have on the homescreen. So I was trying to have a system app, change the icon and name and have it open an sd card app so it remains on a reboot. Was just a theory I wanted to see if it works as a workaround for the apps dropping out after a reboot

Pretty sure it would be impossible. The icons are like shortcuts in windows. A pretty little graphic that calls a command (in this case am) to open the app. The reason it drops is the OS is attempting to be smart and since it can't find the app on boot (sdcard has to be mounted first) is drops the shortcut.
Only suggestion is try a widget that lets you make shortcuts.
Edit
Or try a shortcut app like

Or

I found a semi decent workaround ..in Nova Launcher there's a swipe action feature when you can set an app to open a different app when you swipe it vs pressing it. So I took a non sd app, changed the icon to the icon of the app I wanted to open and changed the name to the app I wanted to open..then added a "-s" after it so I know it's a swipe action app. Not bad..
