Disappearing apps and widgets - Motorola Droid and Milestone Themes and Apps

Hi there, so I have some annoying problems.
1. I have installed some clock widgets, about 3-4. But they are not showed in widgets list. But they are normally installed. I can see only when I uninstall and again install them.
2. There are also some disappearing apps in app drawer, for example "Buka lite", "VPlayer Advanced" etc. Sometimes they appear but after some time they again disappear ...

oops I hit thanks instead of reply lol
Anyway, if you move apps to sd widgets disappear.
They have to stay in internal memory

Yes, I tried that but nothing happens. After reboot are the widgets back and they are still available, so I guess the widgets problem si solved.
And the disappearing apps - I tried GO Launcher instead of the stock launcher, and yet it seems to be alright.
Thanks for the reply, the problems are solved

Sometime SD may not properly mount which may cause the problem you had.

For the last week, everything on my home screen has been disappearing. Sometimes my apps and widgets will there, but usually they won't. If anyone has any tips/suggestions I would appreciate it.

U need to give more info than that to be helped. Did u put apps on the sd card?
I had this happen to me before too, shortly after I installed Launcher Pro. It was happening on the stock launcher (icons disappearing from the home screen). After I installed a 3rd launcher, ADWLauncher, everything seemed to finally work again. FWIW.

You will have to wait for a while for the apps to load...try using a launcher pro or adw launcher they may load faster

You're wrong launcher pro also doesn't load them also
Try reseting the launcher after the media scanner finishes (ie. after the sd card is fully prepared) restart it by ending the process and then just pressing the home button.
It happens because the apps take time to load if from the SD card as it is much slower then internal memory and also because TWlauncher is slow for that

Widgets dont refresh/update in background

Hi.
I noticed that my Fancy Widget and other clock-widgets doesnt update anymore when i open apps, documents or other services. Example:
Clock shows 19:21, Widgets shows 19:21. As long as my phone stays on one of the 5 homescreens, the time updates as usual. But when i open an app (browser, mail, gallery, or any other app) or game and return to my homescreen i can see the time didnt update since i opened the app or game. Lets say i open my browser 19:22, i visit some websites, and switch back to my homescreen 5 minutes later (19:27), the widget didnt update the time within these 5 minutes. When i stay on the homescreen and wait for next minute, the widget updates the time correct.
Whats wrong?
I dont have any task-killers installed. I have 2.3.3 rooted. I didnt remove any bloatware.
I take it you haven't moved the app to the SD either?
What app you mean? Widgets cant be moved to SD, because they wont work when placed on SD.
Are you using SE launcher or a 3rd party one? Try installing https://market.android.com/details?id=com.th.android.widget.gTabsimiClock&feature=search_result and see if its the same. I am using that clock/weather/battery widget with no problems.
I am using SE Launcher again. I used ADW Launcher EX, but got to many errors, so i went back to my stock SE Launcher.
Edit: I tried simiClock, it happens too. It doesnt matter what clock-widget i am using. It doesnt refresh/update when apps/games are running and i switch back to the homescreen.
Most clocks do not update if you have moved them to the SD card.
Make sure it is installed on the phone.
My stock weather widget never updates the location in the background, only when launching it manually will it update on the home screen.
@dsswoosh
As i posted just before....clocks/widgets dont work at all when moved to SD. I install all my widgets on the phone!!

You mean Go launcher ex? try launcher pro, i have tried Go launcher ex, Adw and launcher pro and cannot seem to replicate the problems you are describing, also not had any errors or force closes on any. Do the clock widgets that come with SE launcher do the same? or just 3rd party clock widgets you install? If the stock clocks dont work then maybe reinstalling the fw will fix it.
I tried ADW Launcher EX again (yes, its ADW EX ). Time updates in the background as it should. It seems that its only an SE-Launcher issue. Can someone try?
Maybe it is always like this and i never noticed this before while using the stock SE Launcher?! I think i can live with it, but maybe there is a way to fix it without using a different launcher?

Indeed your right its ADW Launcher EX ive always just called it adw. Well using the stock SE launcher my clock widgets update in the background so im guessing its a problem with your SE launcher. Possibly reinstalling the fw will fix the SE launchers bug? Worth a try i suppose.
I've been experiencing this on my Xperia Arc too. It has nothing to do with launchers or task killers in my case (I use neither). I have been able to reproduce it three times:
1. after a week using my Arc, I noticed a new clock widget wasn't updating except when foregrounded, and not until the next minute ticked over. I also noticed a weather widget wouldn't update reliably.
2. after two months without a solution, i completely reset the phone. All good. While playing a game, I received a call. Afterwards, the above widget types wouldn't refresh except as above.
I deleted an unrelated widget because I didn't need it, and (perhaps coincidentally) the other widgets started refreshing properly.
3. a week later, I received a call while using the calendar app. Widgets no longer refresh, except as above. I haven't been able to find a fix this time. Tested widgets like the stock digital clock shows the same problem.
So for me it looks like the common thread is an incoming call while using an app. I would guess this must be happening to a few other people, as it's the same symptoms as the OP described.
If u hav installed beautiful widgets then..
Well after lots of trial and error.. the only solution i found is..
1. uninstall beautiful widgets animation
2. clear data beautiful widgets from settings - apps - beautiful widgets
3. uninstall beautiful widgets..
Living without beautiful widgets is better than facing that refresh problem..

[Q] NC freezing up constantly

I need help!!! My Nook Color keeps freezing up randomly and often and i do not know why. I thought it was the launcher i was using but i went back to the default and it still does it. I recently reset my NC to factory default to try to fix the issue and it did nothing. Is there extra steps i should do like wiping emmc or anything along those lines?

What ROM are you running, and did you install to the internal emmc memory or onto an SD card?
Some things to consider. If on an SD card then the card itself can be the problem, particularly if not a SanDisk. Have you tried fix permissions?
I am running cm7.1 on the emmc. I was running the Kang build but that's when i started noticing the freezing so i reinstalled cm7.1. The freezing persisted so i reset to factory default then back to cm7.1. Still freezing
Are you using a weather widget i.e., beautiful Widgets, berry weather, weather and toggle widgets, etc. These all are known to cause random freezes. Also when installing your rom to the emmc, do you format data, system and cache (in cwm recovery)? Necessary for a clean install.

I would try uninstalling the flip clock and see what happens. If it still freezes try it without the BB Disk.

Can you recommend any clock or battery widgets or do all widgets freeze the nook?

I don't think there is a generic problem with widgets and the Nook. It is just that they are a common source of this type of problem and there maybe interactions with other services running on your Nook.
I use Digital clock widget (Maize) and it is stable on mine.
I use the transparent clock widget (it is not a digital clock as every digital clock I have tried causes freezing). New and weather widget (also called Genie widget) does not cause freezing problems so I use that for my weather. You have to Google search for the genie widget as it is not in the market. It is included in many roms.

Widgets Not Updating

Has anyone had a problem where widgets will not update (for example, weather widgets don't refresh and switch widgets don't show a change in state)? I had thought I traced my issue to Be weather, and switched to Beautiful Widgets and after working fine for a day or two it has started to cease updating every few hours and require me to restart the launcher. I noticed this on Apex and Go Launcher.

The widgets I am referring to are third party - BeWeather and Beautiful Widgets appear to potentially "cause" an issue, but once the issue occurs, all widgets are impacted.

My internet access works fine (I still get emails) - and once I restart the launcher it automatically updates. Plus I have played with the network optimizer function (new feature that will go on and off WiFi depending on the ability to get on the internet) on and off and the same thing happens.

The re-update switch in the widgets doesn't work. Updating launchers and widgets to latest versions does not work. All widgets just become unresponsive including switch widgets (I use switchpro). They will perform the function (I.e. on a weather widget the update happens in the background and the switch will perform whatever function its tied to) but it will not display (I.e. the switch widget will not show the change in state and weather widgets will not show the updated weather).

Lol - I hang out with all apple guys. I do know one person with an S5, uses Go Launcher and has this issue with the Accuweather widget and the stock weather widget (which I believe was also powered by accuweather on the back end). I noticed that, regardless of the widget I was using, I still show BeWeather as an active process, so I went ahead and uninstalled it. I still have the issue however.
PS - I have no issues with my Nexus 7 (2012) which runs Kitkat as well.
Interestingly enough, the problem seems to have fixed itself. There were updates to Apex in the meantime, perhaps its that.
My friend with Go Launcher is also seeing the same impact - the issue is gone.

Calendar widget quit updating
Just today, my calendar widget stopped updating. Just says "No upcoming calendar events." I've tried the stock and Agenda Widgets - nothing. I'm running Google Now launcher, but they don't work in Touchwiz Launcher either. I noticed yesterday that the number of items on the widget began to dwindle.
Any fix for this?
Well, trust me I did everything for my Xperia L when I encountered this problem.
What I did for my device
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=59371718&postcount=2439
Look two three posts before it for more information!
What fixed it was taking battery out for few minutes and putting it back again!
Hey guys, if you stop the cashed process for touchwiz home, the widgets immediately start updating. I'm using a verizon Samsung galaxy s5 4.4.4 kitkat. Just thought I'd throw that in...
