Rom Recommendations - EVO 4G General

Hello all. Currently I am running MIUI.. But I would like to go back to a solid Sense ROM. For the longest I ran Fresh and Warm Z/TwoPointTwo. I would like to go back to something similar. Just a 2.3 sense rom without all the 3.0 bells & whistles (aka bloat). I was running the latest Fresh but was annoyed by sense restarting when I pressed 'home'. I was thinking maybe a Speedy port / Mytouch port...
Thanks in advance
tl;dr
Looking for a 2.3 sense rom w/o sense 3.0.

Synergy is sense2.0/3.0 fusion. Very reliable. You'll like it.
Sugar, Spice, and everything Nice!!!

+1 for Synergy.

He doesn't want the sense 3.0 bells and whistles. I recommend calkulins 2.3 rom. I would link it but I'm on my phone right now. Just search the development section for it.

Are there any custom ROM's that were NOT ported?

I would like to install a custom ROM that was NOT ported over from another device. A ROM close to stock but without all the BS programs + some expanded capabilities. Seems like there are only ROM's that were ported from other devices available which I appreciate but would like to try at a later date when they are more stable/complete.
i second that motion sir
Haven't you seen the Cyanogenmod thread?

well if you mean close to stock as in how the phone came then the only thing we have is Iced-Glacier, if you mean close to stock as in vanilla or AOSP then you need to look into Cyanogen Mod. those are the only 2 that are not ports from another device
i've been using ice glacier for a while and so far so good.
i dunno, but i kinda like the stock sense interface, just wanted the bloatware removed, and ice glacier fits perfectly. Sounds like that's what you want as well
maybe when CM 7 is released i might go back to that
Man..dunno how you could want something more than Cyan, the speed increase is insane, it runs buttery smooth now. I am not a fan of MySense though so that may have swayed me a bit...
I love mysense copy and paste, and new Evil-HD port (I know you didnt want a port because you want something stable) is the most stable rom i've run yet, Tried CM ran into little issues, Tried Iced Glacier ran into speed issues and force closes and random reboots... Since installing Evil-HD I like sense even more. (Sense HD is like the upgraded version of mysense looks way better)

You say that Evil's Desire HD ROM runs better than Iced and CM? I'll give it a try in the next couple of releases.

Seems like people are having issues with all of the custom ROM's. I'll wait awhile before I flash any of them.
Wait until CM7. Gingerbread cut and paste is improved over froyo and zinx is already working on it. Should be niiiice.

Welcome to the world of rom flashing. There are a few out there but basically Iced Glacier is basically a stock rom with some tweaks for speed improvement. There are a few others like the Desire rom which is closer to normal Sense UI and CM6 which is stock Android. Honestly the best thing to do is back up all your info with Titanium Backup and flash some roms. Try them all out and see which one you like the best.

Pretty much hit the nail on the head. If you like the MySense UI that the MyTouchHD is using then you might want to try iced glacier it's fairly speedy. Personally i like the "stock/Vanilla" AOSP (Android Open Source Programming) look and feel of Android. I don't like all the fluff and puff that comes with the Sense UI. So that leave Cyanogen's CM6.1.2RC2. I've been VERY happy with this ROM. But you need to decide for yourself. It's time consuming but it's really hard for us to figure out what you like.
Thanks for the advice Im going to try eVil 4G HD, Any recommendation on what I should get along with that?
After that, you might want to try out the Miui roms, pretty slick and it's like an iPhone rom.
And then Cyanogens 6.1RC or CM7 that's Gingerbread but you have to use ADB and upgrade the recovery, unless you're famular with ADB, I'd stick with what we have now and use the roms that don't require the new recovery.

Best GB Sense rom?

Just want to test the XDA waters and see what gb sense rom people like the best? Asking because I've come to realize I prefer the sense infrastructure (i.e. camera, dialer) but at the same time prefer LPP as my launcher (smoother and more functional imo). I love the sense 3.0 lockscreen hence wanting a gb sense rom, so I can push the lockscreen onto it.
So basically what is the lightest, smoothest gb sense rom?

It's made by Raffy and it's called insertioncoin
http://android-maisters.thedevboard.com/t53-portrommt4g_insertcoin_glacier_v10released
It has many 3.0 features but not carousel, it's really fast at 1GHz w/ conservative gov.
Hmm, cool thanks for the tip...I'm aware of Raffy but haven't flashed one of his roms...he was the first to get a sense 3.0 out for the mytouch 4g right?
I might give it a shot, but so far I've only flashed XDA roms...lol I like to keep it in the family

You can just look in Developers section. RoyalPanache is based on Canadian Glacier release - that's as stock (and thus bug-less) as you can get. And it has all the Sense 3.0 goodies ready, too. Any ROM derived from that release is functional.

Shalom my brother Lol yeah I'm quite familiar with the dev section, just thought I'd ask for peoples' opinions...sometimes it's easier than flashing 10 different roms, though for sure the only way to know is to try it oneself...
I'm on virtuous fusion now, and while it's great, I'm thinking a 2.1 sense rom will leave more ram available, which is my primary reason for switching away from the 3.0 fusion...plus I've been getting spotty data on this rom, so I'm hoping I'll get stronger results on something else.
Royal Panache. all is great, fast, smooth and haven't ran into any problems. Wifi data speed is fast also. fast ping and fastest download was around 19.33 mbps.
I love Faux123's Orange GB, he basically just took the canadian/panache release and sped it up a bit. I was running his Orange Glacier before all the GB releases and it felt like stock on steroids.
The only issue I had was remapping the genius button to google search, he moved the google search app to a user app, so I just had to make it a system app and everything was great. The HTC Sense 3.0 camera even works on it, and I couldn't get it to run on raffy's insertcoin (which I like, also) or virtuous (another amazing one).

So far
So far my personal fav would have to be eViL D's Virtuous Fusion.
Only thing I have found thus far being noticeably wrong is that the actual calendar app isn't scaled right but the widget is scaled fine so thats what I use instead.

Can anyone recommend a good Sense Rom?

Hey guys. I'm just used to the sense rom I've been on stock froyo, gingerbread leak, and curretnly running evil d Virtuous Fusion sense 3 rom. I'd like to see if there are any other options for a stable gingerbread sense rom. I love Evil D's rom but wifi calling doesnt work and there seems to be data fluctuations on it. btw anyone know what's going on w/that rom and the pending investigation? Thanks for you rinput guys.

As for suggesting another GB Sense ROM - if you haven't already, I'd definitely try Royal Panache. Very similar to Virtous Fusion except it has Sense 2.1, not the 3.0 carousel. But you still get the sense 3.0 lockscreen and other elements. Very smooth.
Not sure what's going on with eViL's thread though...hopefully nothing serious.
I would suggest IncertCoin rom, it is real awesome and stable. Excellent battery life with all sense widgets working perfectly.

A look and feel to HTC sense

So a while back I started using cyanogen 7 and liked it for the most part. But I started to miss HTC's sense. That was one of the main reasons I went with an evo and not an epic. So now I am looking for a Rom that has both Android 2.3 and the look and feel of the new HTC sense. Preferred something under a stable release. Is there a dev out there that has something like that released. I start work in like 15 mins and would like to be able to just roll home and reflash.

There is at least 50 different sense roms in the dev section.....
The Evo official software version is at 2.3.3.
You could also try Myn's Warm 2.2 RLS 5. It's pretty smooth for a Sense ROM, and it's got all of the Sense goodies.

MikG ROM is exactly what you're looking for, there is also Synergy ROM, that'll you'll have to sign up for a beta for.
Totally agree with mikg roms. It is gingerbread with sense 2.1 and sense 3.0 features. Everything is working for me. Even netflix. I am using the latest v 2.1 Rom

MikG is great! i've been using it ever since the GB leak!
I've heard great things about Synergy as well, but, like someone else has mentioned, you need to be signed up for the beta to use it.
AllianceROM r7.3 isnt bad either...I'm giving it a test run right now actually. It's like MikG in the sense that they are hybrid Sense 2.1/3.0

I agree with you on mikg. I am also running Alliance rom hybrib, and i have to say it really stable and I am getting great battery life on it as well. I would recommend either of these roms, as they are both ultra stable!

I am going to reiterate what everyone before me has said, MikG. It is the sexiest ROM I have ever used and Sense has grown on me like Digger. I don't think I will ever need to change my ROM again.

yup, i am totally fine if i never run another rom again. i used cm7 and some other roms, i even did the kingdom and virus and alliance. hands down the straight mikG beats them all when it comes to smoothness and sense, even though some of them are very similar. and the newest mikG got me my netflix back on track!

I know there is a bunch of different ROM's But I guess I should have been more clear but trying to get a post off before I had to clock in while helping open the store was a bit hectic. I was looking for community feedback on some of the ROM's as in what would be best and what others think of said ROM's.
Thanks to everyone who gave me opinions and big thanks to the links. Going to look into both MikG as well as alliance. I like the screens from Alliance but I am not seeing screens for MikG maybe ther is a off XDA site with them.
Again thanks for the assistance everyone
I recommend Synergy. Very stable and is superfast. It is a collaboration of all the excellent devs and have begun releasing mods/themes...
Use MikG all the way!! It's sense 2.1+3.0 and its Android 2.3.3
