[Q] How to download my current the phone´s ROM - GT540 Optimus General

Hello Everybody,
How can I download my current phone´s ROM
I have a LG- G540 with android 2.1
I have some information in this phone
For example:
Book address- conections WIFI, my messages, etc
I need to download the rom with all data, then to convert that Rom in a D. D image. Or convert directly from ROM to D.D image
Is anybody to know how to do this?
or at least to download the ROM of the current phone, including information.
Is it possible to do that?
Thanks for your feedbacks
Best Regards

Yes its possible download titanium backup pro make a full backup switch roms then just add all your info apps etc back using titanium easyiest way for 2.1 and back in my opinion

Thanks for you feedback, I´ll try it
Is this software possible conver to D.D image? or only to make the download the rom with all apps, message, calls etc?
I mean, this rom download is like a own custom rom with it´s own apps and configurations incluided the messages, calls, wifi configurations, visited pages etc
Thank you for your help
Regards

Thanks again.
I´ve tried this software, but I have a problem. I mean,
I need some aplication o method that I don´t have to install in the phone.
This application or method needs to work from the computer, I need to do this way because Im looking for the way to download this rom and convert to an image D. D and then trying to do forensics analisys so I need to try not to change the initial image.
Thanks for your feedbackss.
Regards

it should make a complete backup
so literally a mirror image
Sent from my GT540RR using XDA App

Clockwork Recovery?
Do you have Clockwork Recovery?
You could use Clockwork Recoverymod for backing up everything. The backup files are images so you could flash them via fastboot. They can be found at /sdcard/clockworkmod/. Just go to recovery, select Backup and Restore, then Backup.

Thanks
I am a new in this.
I don´t know what the clockworkmod recovery is. But I´ll try it.
I´ll tell you later about this.
Thanks for you help.

3. Install MyBackupPro for backing up SMS and Contacts and stuff to SD...Yesterday I tried Titanium Backup and it's not very user-friendly...don't know how to backup SMS there...Oo
4. Always do a Nandroid backup first before flashing you are able to do this when u installed custom Recovery

Doing a Froyo update

Ok, I know this going to get instantly downvoted into oblivion for my incompetence, but can anyone give an idea of what is involved in upgrading my i5800 to froyo?
Samsung UK are being as useful as chocolate teapots with regards to the official update, so I'd like to get some froyo-ey goodness into my handset
Basically, I have a few questions:
What is the best way to backup? Can I create a complete image, so I can restore completely to as it is now if i need to?
Which firmware is best to use? I quite fancy rooting, so I'd like to get a firmware that offers some protection, or an app that can provide a similar thing.
And what software do I need to perform this?
Sorry if this seems a bit "Hurr Durr, red teh other pages plox"...
Cheers
Michael.
1. You can use Titanium Backup for backing up currently installed app.s & data. You will need to root the phone to use this..assuming you're on eclair right now, use the z4root app. to root easily. Additionally, you can also backup data like contacts, sms etc. in Kies.
2. You don't really need to backup & restore entire system image..just note details your current ROM & download it from samfirmware.com in case you need to flash it back. For flashing you will need Odin software.
3. Download any recent European Froyo ROM from samfirmware & flash it with Odin. Use SuperOneClick to root once Froyo is installed.
You will find all the info that you need in the rooting & flashing consolidated thread in dev. forum. Wish you all the best.

Has anyone done a stock Vodafone update from android 2.1?

Had to send my phone back to get serviced and am now rocking a k800i!
Grabbed my g/fs phone to surf and watch iplayer.
SHE'S STILL ON 2.1!!!!
Isn't that eclair?
I asked if she wanted the update done and she's worried about losing app data and all that. I can't find out if the standard vodafone update will nuke her phone when it updates.
Does anyone here know? (better answers from here than actual voda forums I'm guessing)
Hi,
In most case, a firmware update make you lose data (App installed, SMS...)
You just keep what's in the SDCARD (Pics, mp3...)
I think there is just the minor upgrade let your data on the phone...
So if you upgrade from 2.1 to 2.3 you gonna loose your data...
- So before updating i suggest you to backup your SMS, CONTACTS with a software (You have Backup&Restore i think). You also can save your app with configuration with an app like titanium backup
- I also suggest you to root your device to make a full backup of your data...
- And if you are courageous (lol) i suggest you to unlock your bootloader, install a new Kernel (Like that your phone will be faster and you will have Recovery). With recovery you can backup all your rom (Like a windows restoration)
- After that you can choose to stay in the stock rom or to install a custom rom (More customizable, faster...)
If you want to unlock, root, flash use Flashtool .. there is a guide in my signature...
If you want to install a new Kernel search one on the site and refer to his thread
If you want to install a custom, do the same...
I hope it helps...

[Q] Stock Image Extraction from I-9505G

Hello,
I've just gotten my Galaxy S4 GE; before I did anything to it, I was wondering if there were an official site containing the stock images, like there is for Nexus devices (https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images).
If not, how can I extract the ROM (and possibily the Recovery)?
Also, as an information, I've updated right away from 4.2.2 to 4.3 via OTA. I thought that the image might still be saved somewhere onto the memory...
Thanks for your time!
Could anybody please help or give me a hint on where to look at. I'd like to have a backup of my stock S4 GE!
Thank you.

As far as I know, there is no stock image provided for the i9505G by Samsung or Google. Since this isn't a Nexus device, it doesn't have the same access to original software images.
I think the best you can do is to root the device, boot from a custom recovery, and then do a full Nandroid back-up. This keeps the device very close to stock and you end up with a path back to this state. Here's the process I used to get to the point where I could do the Nandroid backup:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2365555
Use this version of CWM instead of the one listed--it's the newest version and supports Nandroid for the i9505G:
http://download2.clockworkmod.com/recoveries/recovery-clockwork-6.0.3.6-jfltexx.img
You can find more information in the i9505G Android development forum, particularly the sticky thread at the top.
Hello!
Thanks for the answer. I'll try to do as you said. Just two things:
- Will it be possible to run the CWM without flashing it? If yes, how?
- Is the "nanadroid backup" an option on CWM labeled with this very name? (Sorry for this qustion )
Also, by chance I found this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2368121
Isn't a dump what I'm looking for? If not, what is it then?
I understand that there's no website that provides stock images (sort of stupid from Google), but can't I get the image of the 4.3 the phone downloaded when updating via OTA in any way?? Isn't it still stored somewhere for when I do a factory reset?
Thanks again!

Following the rooting process outlined only boots up your phone using CWM recovery and doesn't flash it. Just make sure that when you're done and choose to have CWM reboot your phone, if it asks you to overwrite your phone's recovery, you choose "NO".
The backup isn't called "Nandroid" in the CWM menus. You are just given options to do a backup or restore, which uses Nandroid.

I haven't used the dump process described.

That makes sense, but I haven't tried to find it.

[Q] Need to download/install stock ROM

Hi,
I'm trying to network unlock my phone, and the company handling it says that it's because I'm using a custom ROM.
So I need to install the stock Touchwiz piece of ****. Can someone direct me to where I can find that? I've had a good look and I've not been able :/
Also, would I just need to boot into recovery, do a data/system wipe, then install from ZIP?
Would me doing that remove Clockworkmod?
Thanks for any help given, I've had a real ****ty time finding a ROM that wasn't paywalled >_>

This will provide you with a 100% stock firmware. Be sure to read the post in it's entirety before commencing with the process!
You will lose EVERYTHING with this, including CWP/TWRP ect so back up any images/contacts/files on your pc, and also try and find the CWM/TWRP or whatever before doing so.
It's hard to find a flash-able "Stock" rom, so I'd suggest doing this, then maybe going back to custom.
Good luck!
