My wife's Droid Inc sdcard is just about full. I have another card to put in. Do I just copy all the files to the new card and insert it?

I would just make sure the card is formatted fat32 first, but yes, you should be fine to copy the files over.
Yes. That's how it works.
Thanks guys

If I move my apps to my SD card in froyo will I have to reinstall when switching roms?

Froyo is not going to mess with your SD card.
What do you mean by this
Sent from my ADR6300 using Tapatalk
Just what I said. Froyo doesn't do anything to the files on your sd card.
its the stock one...is there any special way to do it on the epic? I just read over in the i9000 forums that it won't be picked up if you don't format it from the phone?

I would suggest to format it from the phone, like that you know its going to work 100%.
Settings - sd card & storage - (unmount the sd card first) then format the card.
Remember if you have any app that saved data to the card your going to loose it unless you back it up.

I just upgraded to a 16gb card today. I formatted it first(FAT32) then just transferred the files from my old card. Rebooted, just to make sure, and works just fine.
Nice, I'm gonna try that, how did u format it to FAT32

double click on "my computer" and right click on the directory of the card and select "format". then a window should pop up and you can select FAT32 under file system. I kept everything as default and started the format
Ok, thanks, will give that a try.

I think the phone will do whatever is needed. I plugged in my new Sandisk 64GB card into the phone and it recognized it immediately, and mounted it a second or so later. Working great.

you can as long as the phone reads it if it does not don't worry should work fine once you format via computer..... I have a 64 GB micro in my phone and no issues but formated it on my computer good luck!
There are some kernels that won't recognize the exFAT format that most 64GB cards come with. ExFAT is proprietary from Microsoft. Stock kernels work. I kept having trouble, so I formatted my card to FAT32 on my computer. The only real limitation is FAT32 only allows files up to 4GB.

What should I format it to... The phone recognizes it and then promptly says remove SD card

Flash a different kernel such as kt's latest or put in your computer and reformat as fat32. I had this same problem and either of these methods will fix.

Are you on the stock ROM or custom ROM? (specifically the kernel)
If you are on the stock ROM, try to insert it into the phone, and if it says "remove sd card", ignore that and instead, mount it (settings, more, storage, scroll to the bottom - mount sd card). It should work after that.
If you are using a different kernel, you will need to find out if it supports exFAT. If not, you may only be able to use as FAT32

Connext your phone to a computer and copy all content on the 4 gig to your computer then turn the phone off. On your computer format the 32 gig card to fat32, then copy everything that was on the 4gig that should now be somewhere on your computer wherw you copied it on to the 32 gig, replace the 4 gig with the 32 gig in the phone and turn your phone on, should be good.

I thought folders have special restrictions. I have upgraded SD card from 4 GB to 32 GB
Steps I did :
1. Removed card from Phone and inserted in in Laptop
2. Copied all files to Temp Folder from Old sd Card
3. Plugged in 32 GB card copied from Temp Folder to new card
4. removed card and inserted in Phone
5. Tested it out and it works
all i did when i upgraded is select everything on the old card and create a folder for those files and copied it, then i got the new card and i just copied the files in the folders and it should be pretty easy
