Hello. I have written a GUI program that automates the bootloader unlocking process.
Please Report any bugs.
Thank You.
---------------------------
Atrix models supported: at&t as well as international versions
The following application is an early version and is not complete but should be fairly stable.
By using this software, you are essentially being a beta tester.
Please follow the program steps in order.
The program should flash the unlock sbf then unlock your device using your unique device ID.
Currently the application is for a Mac only (since my computer runs MacOS X).
All comments are welcome.
Requirements:
1. BACKUP ALL USER DATA BEFORE USE!
2. Phone must have the latest android 2.2.x software. For at&t users that would be version 1.8.3. For international users it would be whatever version is equivalent to 1.8.3. As long as your phone is running android version 2.2.2 you should
be fine.
3. Must know how to put phone into RSD and Fastboot mode. If you dont know, just search the forum or google it. If you still need help, then you can ask me.
4. Must have a computer running OS X (mac).
---
Features:
- Unlocks bootloader on at&t phones
- Unlocks bootloader on international phones
- Applies ram fix to international phones (coming soon)
---
Downloads (One app for both the at&t as well as international version of the Atrix):
Mac Version: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=E2TH2T8L (Do not use with the Spanish Movistar Atrix, everyone else ok to use).
----
Changelog:
V0.3.2
Fixed the issue where sbf_flash could not be found.
There is an outstanding issue where the user must manually make the sbf_flash file executable. This is the only major issue I have found so far. If anyone knows how to fix this, please let me know.
v0.3.1
Once again fixed another qt problem. Ran the app on a virtualized OS X 10.6 server and everything worked. Reverted to zip files instead of dmg.
v0.3.0
Added support for the at&t Atrix. Recompiled the app into a dmg with all the necessary libraries. I tested out the app under a virtualized version of os x 10.6 server stock setup with a different username so that I could find errors. I did not get any errors. Please test and let me know what needs improvement or fixing. All comments are welcome.
v0.2.1
fixed the first step so the sbf_flash will run without first being made executable by the user using terminal commands. This should make the experience more automated.

Which computer operating system do you have? Windows or Mac or Linux?
Mac, virtual everthing else
Sent from my MB860 using XDA App
I have Atrix from the Middle East and running Windows 7 x64. Would definitely be interested.
I have uploaded a Mac version of the application. If you could test it out, and let me know whats wrong with it, I would appreciate it.
This seems awesome. Awaiting your AT&T version for Linux.
Has anyone tried? Is there a chance this harms my device, if not i will try.

I tried this program on my own phone (at&t atrix) and it worked without out a problem.
The only difference between the at&t atrix and the international atrix in terms of a boot loader unlock are the SBFs that are used and the ram fix that is required for international users.
If you follow the steps in order there shouldn't be any permanent damage. You can always just flash another SBF to revert to the old operating system.
The only thing i can think of is that you might lose your ability to downgrade to an older operating system. This is the case for at&t users and I assume its the same for international users.
I would ordinarily not release this, but I don't have an international atrix so there is no way for me to be sure without someone testing it out. I have taken every precaution to keep this from causing damage to the atrix. Ultimately it is up to the user.
The only Atrix this cannot be used for is the Spanish Movistar model.
QT needed?
No. Unzip and run like regular Mac app.
Code:
Library not loaded: /Users/gregory/QtSDK/Desktop/Qt/473/gcc/lib/QtGui.framework/Versions/Current/QtGui
Referenced from: /Users/Username/Downloads/Atrix-Unlocker-GUI.app/Contents/MacOS/Atrix-Unlocker-GUI
Reason: image not found
Have you tried on another machine?
Yes. I have tried on the machine I compiled it on (running os x 10.6.7) and my macbook air running os x 10.7.
How did u try to run it? Through terminal or by just clicking on the .app?
I have made some modifications. Download from this link: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=AC1V1NC4
i have clicked.

I have researched the issue. It seems to be a build issue with qt. The easiest way to solve this at the moment would be to install qt. I will try to fix this so qt is not needed. Apparently this problem only occurs for the mac build, and since all my machines have QT installed, I was not able to detect this issue.
And the path is static, i get an error referencing to your user folder "/Users/gregory/QtSDK..."
I am currently trying to remedy this issue using macdeployqt.
I and i think many many International Users would appreciate your solution.
So I noticed that the OP had mentioned it working on his AT&T Atrix...is this true? I also saw the Mac OS version of this. I really want to unlock my bootloader, but all the ways to do this involve a windows computer, which I dont have. All I have is my Macbook running 10.7.

Yes it works on my at&t atrix. However the version I posted is for international users. Will post art version once I can get the. App to deploy correctly. Currently having an issue with qt libraries.

After seeing JI5 and JI6 come out today, and hearing that the new updates fixed the GPS issue, I decided that I wanted to update.
But, I have a Mac.
Is there anyway to get this to work with a Mac or at least on Parallels? I am not going to go to all the trouble to get boot camp just for this purpose.
It worries me that when the full froyo comes out that I won't be able to upgrade to that either.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

The thing to keep in mind is that Samsung Kies is *NOT* a supported update method for any of the U.S. market Galaxy S phones. The only method officially supported by the 4 U.S. carriers is OTA updates.
In other words, anything crazy people like me (and a few others obviously LOL) find via Kies, or Samfirmwares.com, or modaco, or wherever...are likely to be leaked builds (not final builds) and builds that are not involved with official OTA updates.
Though we may eventually luck up on getting what ends up being OTA updates to 2.1 and 2.2 between now and whenever by doing these things, there are no guarantees.
Now, having said that, you are most likely to receive what ends up being an OTA update from HERE, due to the way OTA updates are staged out in batches. Just because an OTA update goes live on a given date does not mean that every single solitary phone will receive the update that day. It could take days or weeks for your phone to fall into a push batch for an OTA.
So, it depends on what you want to do. If you want to tweak, tinker, and experiment, you're going to have to have a Windows environment at this stage of things.
If you want to just enjoy your phone and be able to get an OTA when one drops...Just wait until it drops and with a dose of patience you'll be fine.
I dohave mac.. but that doesn't stop me from loading os.. I know for sure that someone on the development section will make a flashable version of it in which you use via rom manager or clockworkmod..

Rom Manager/Clockwork installable zips are made for EASE, not rock-solid-guaranteed-to-have-an-exit-strategy-reliability. Not that clockwork recovery is unreliable, but if you think that clockwork recovery is enough and will always save your bacon, your mistaken.
Even this can have its problems, especially if you encounter problems with a newer build and decide to (mistakenly) nandroid back to a JFD based build.
All of these newer builds are using a newer kernel, and nandroid will not restore a kernel. This is the reason WHY so many people had problems with JI5 dropping today because they didn't do their homework.
They see people like me, and others of course, who jump in and are successful with it. But I and a lot of people leave "understood" and obvious (to us) things unsaid because we at least vaguely think we know what we're doing LOL. And we are fully aware of the need for a reliable Odin setup as a necessary strategy to be this carefree with firmware testing.
At the end of the day, assuming you had a hardware button working Vibrant, the only way out of a bad scenario is Odin3. And that requires a Windows environment.
If you're going to hack android devices, rather than simply use them and rely on your provider for OTA's....you need a windows environment....or you had best really be on top of what your doing and be very careful. The need to have Odin available as a backup strategy when things go wrong really isn't optional.
Although I haven't tried it, I'm not completely sure that Odin won't work in a WINE bottle.
I'll give it a shot when I go home tonight and post a tutorial tomorrow if in does in fact work. I've read where it didn't recognize the Behold II's download mode under linux, but I'm giving it a shot either way.
i have an imac, had it for almost a year now. wouldnt trade it for a thing, but as a mac users; we need to realize, we can never ever ever push windows out of our life... ever. kinda defeats the purpose of buying and owning a mac, i know...
but still, i used odin on my sons laptop so i can get ji5.
I haven't had time to try it on my Mac, but on Linux you can use Virtualbox (free download from Sun/Oracle) to create a Windows XP VM to flash with Odin. It's pretty easy. I think Odin needs the Samsung drivers, so you might not be able to use Wine.
US updates are OTA--as said above. No need to use the computer.
Having said that, I run OS X 10.4 and I know I cannot really do anything with it. I wait for solid builds to come out/keep it simple/research any time I want to mess around inside the code. I bricked a phone and had to use a friend's computer to try and get ODIN to restore.
Bottom-line: If you are OS X dependent, USE CAUTION!!!

10.4?!! You're running a PPC mac and yes, there's nothing that YOU can do with it. That said, don't give you false advice to others.

First, any official update will be an OTA and therefore will not need a computer. So the fact you're on a Mac won't be an issue at all.
Second, just do BootCamp. It's not really much of a hassle at all, and it's the best experience you can have running Windows on a Mac. I used to run into a lot of driver issues running Windows XP / Vista / 7 through Parallels and VMWare. Plus with how slow it ran and the amount of resources it ate up, I decided to go BootCamp and never looked back. Trust me, it's worth it.

Right..false advice. Good luck with that. This isn't my first rodeo...i love my 10.4 but it is pretty useless as per odin. You need a good platform if anything goes wrong.

Odin does not recognize our phones in VMware or Parallels. Your only solution is boot camp. I don't now why you're moaning that it's so hard to install. It's literally 3 clicks, then you insert your Windows disk and reboot. If you want to play with leaked firmware, you're going to have to get over yourself.
Hi all,
We have a new firmware, 2.3.20
I think it's enough to write
Regards.
Damn, and I just switched over to UrukDroid. What am I supposed to do now?

Some tests with the new firmware should be done.
Can it be downgraded back to 2.1.08?
Is archangel working?
Anybody volunteer to being the Guinea pig?
Because they have changed the format of the Medialibrary, they prevent the downgrade.
Wifi channels above 10 are not working atm.
Otherwiese it feels better.
It looks smoother than before. And I had somr problems with some piano apps before there was no voice with some of them. But now all of them working. I don't know it's related with fw though
On my archos 101 the browser is now much smooter and multi touch zooming is better and everithing is lot faster even some games aren't so laggy.

a) if Archos really closed the leak which archangel was using to gain root privileges, they have to find another leak and you have to wait until they found it
b) you have to use the SDE root method (which will be available as soon as I get my A101IT back from Archos)
c) life without root privileges
I installed 2.3.02, but the downgrade doesn't work (the update is too old...).
Is there an other possibility to downgrade?
No, no downgrade possible.
Does upgrading to newer fw clears/deletes my current files? Im still using 2.0.71 fw.

Is this actually still 2.2, despite the release #?
Also, anyone else out there use Move2SD enabler (root) and then do this upgrade? I am a little nervous what will happen with those apps that were previously moved to SD in this non-standard way.
Thanks,

Archos release numbers have nothing to do with what version of Android that is being run.
There is no root in this firmware yet so Move2SD will not work. The regular apps2sd that is built in to Froyo will work though.
Thanks for the quick response.
I still am unclear what will happen with the apps that I already moved prior to the upgrade.

They won't work. At least that is my guess as I have never used that program before.
Is it worth it though?? Your thoughts....
Ok, I have my A101IT rooted via Chulri's way and it's running smooth n' sweet but I have a question about this apparent new updated Firmware Version 2.3.02? Am I correct to have understood that ..."there was a leak but the leak is currently non-existent and you can't get the new 2.3.02 Firmware any more"? If not, where can you get it... (I.E. - Posting a link to it)?
Also, with those of you who have tested this new Firmware 2.3.02 and/or are currently using it on their Archos 70/101IT tablet (granted it's possible to install right now)... is it worth updating to AND other than "not being able to downgrade because of the Media Library issue are there any other reported issues or areas of concern? How about any advantages over Froyo 2.1.08 WITH full Root Access (which is what I currently have)? Would there be any improvements in things such as Overclocking speed and lag issues with this new 2.3.02??
OK that's my first post here,
I had urukdroid 0.7 installed. I restarted in android mode and downloaded the AOS FILE, then restarted an proceeded with the upgrae. I dont have the root rights anymore but can choose to start in android mode (2.3.02) or in developer mode (urukdroid) 2.1.8 , I can remote control the Archos 101 from my Samsung Galaxy S iin android mode not in Urukdroid. The bootloader is 4.04.000000. I hope it helps.
The other problem is that I had to dislable the screen autosleep as it doesn't wake up anymore in android mode (That's not the case in developer Urukdroid mode).
PS: I still have the root rights in Urukdroid (developer mode), I had to clean the Titanium backup cache as it didn't showed anymore the applications.
Has anyone had any luck flashing CWM or TWRP for this model phone? It looks like it isn't compatible, but just wanted to check. I got my phone rooted (finally), thanks to Aboman . I am kind of concerned about using Odin on my laptop to backup my entire phone, because it is external to the device. I am hoping that I can get some more info on how to ensure I backup my device properly before attempting to add Xposed and other programs. Has anyone had luck with this? I already have used Android SDK to backup my system (I think). Has anyone used this method before? I also have Flashfire Installed and have been searching for more information on shortfalls of backing up using the different methods or even which is best and what is not necessary to backup. I want to take as many steps as I can to prevent any issues, as I need my phone for work, but I still want to get the virtual gyroscope installed and working (along with some other apps I have found on my journey to this point) in order to play apps that require a gyroscope. ((MOST DO! WHO KNEW?!)). Any help would be greatly appreciated. >_<

The link gives me a 503 and, judging by the text there, I need to know Linux commands. I am willing to learn, but I am sure something this complicated will take more than a noob knowledge of the language. I have NGINX, but don't yet have the Win10 Linux addon and, thus don't have Ubuntu (yet). I haven't looked at NGINX and got it as supporting software for a program I needed off of GitHub. If you could send me another link, it would be appreciated, so that I can at least take a look and see if it is something I could handle.

Nope u dont need any skills of programming to create a cwm recovery from that website when u open it u just need to add your recovery.img file and other files of your device. Click generate and it will create one for your device.. I have tested it on my brothers phonr and it created a cwm recovery for it. That website is specially created for new people.
Maybe try another browser. Or changing your proxy settings.

This is great but is there a way to uninstall it (if necessary) and get back to the primary ROM (stock or Lineage OS) without losing data?
tried to do a bit of light research and couldn't find what's different between this and other preexisting multiboot solutions. I've been using Dual Boot Patcher for sometime without issues. Is this somehow better? and if so, how?

EFIDroid is what you would call a "second-stage bootloader". The main advantage over Dual Boot Patcher (at least for me) is that you no longer have to patch zip files before installing. Also, EFIDroid is more than just a multi-boot solution. Quoting @m11kkaa:
efidroid tries to focus on simplicity, and doesn't require any kernel modifications etc.
in general: well having such a powerful bootloader in your boot stage gives you lots of possibilities, like multiboot, replacements/additions for kernels/ramdisk/cmdline.
This project has a lot more potential than what's currently implemented. i.e. you can give samsung devices fastboot and sony devices a standalone recovery. Also you can natively boot GNU GRUB if you're into booting linux kernel's the desktop way.

The two solutions are similar enough that you can migrate your setup from Dual Boot Patcher to EFIDroid without losing any data. I'll try to post a guide later this week.
I was I under the impression dual boot required multiple ROMs running the same kernel... If that is the case a huge advantage efi has is each ROM having their own boot img. I'm currently running 3 ROMs a lollipop a marshmallow and of course a nougat. I really just wanted to see all 3 latest android os running flawlessly on 1 device. And I did just that hats off to the developer for this.

There's an uninstall button in the app. Or, you could just flash the original boot.img via TWRP (basically what the uninstall button does).

The sub instructions say to Odin the BL and CP, as the ROM is generally generic. There us also a datafix and an essential fix that needs to be applied. Doing all of that is easy, but how do I keep two separate bootloaders (LP and MM) totally separate? If I flash a LP over a MM, my camera breaks, and if I flash a MM over LP, WiFi breaks. And I'm not talking about dirty flashes, a full system, data, and cache wipe 3x. Only Odin back to the base ROM keeps my phone happy.

There's no way to have two different bootloaders. EFIDroid comes between the bootloader and the boot.img, so it has no control over the bootloader.
EDIT: EFIDroid may be able to emulate the behavior of another bootloader... you would have to ask @m11kkaa for details...

I downloaded and started up the EFIdroid unofficial apk but got the following message:
=====================================
Error
Can't load device info. Please check your connection.
/data/user/0/org.efidroid.efidroidmanager.debug/files/devices.json (No such file or directory)
override ota server try again
===============================================
Could you please explain what's going on? Seems that this version is different from the one i downloaded in March. Could it be that it's not getting root access? What can I do to get around this error?

I will have to look into it... The EFIDroid app error messages are not exactly the most helpful kind. (Good thing the app is being phased out soon). That particular error message could mean many things, but most likely it's a connection issue. We will continue this in Slack.
Will this work on tw 7.0 if i was porting a rom. Also why wont aosp kernel work on tw.. i always thought tw was aosp with skin..
Go to back to the link posted above where you got the unofficial apk and go to post #83. The OP posted an apk there that works fine on our phone.

Tried what you suggested but it didn't work either. So, I chose the 'nuclear option': I wiped the phone completely then reinstalled the stock Marshmallow ROM. using Odin. After that i installed TWRP v3.0.2 (trltetmo) and Supersu v2.79 as well as Busybox v1.26. Only then was I able to install EFIDroid successfully. Now, I'm able to boot the stock rom as well as Resurrection Remix.
It seems that if your going to install EFIDroid you must have the phone rooted using SuperSU. Using Magisk to root your phone instead of SuperSu won't work (at least it didn't work in my case).

This should work anywhere, regardless of ROM... But btw, it's a stretch to say TW is just a skin on top of AOSP. In fact, TW is probably the farthest you can get from AOSP... There's a lot of significant differences that make AOSP kernels incompatible with TW ROMs...
Is there any way to install the latest version of android on my tablet. Works no problems but it's outdated. Been trying to find out if I can just download and do like you do Windows. Anyone see a how too or something and can point me in the right direction that would be great.

The newest version of Android for this tablet is Android 5.1 but it runs fairly slow and isn't really worth it I personally prefer KitKat because it still supports most apps and runs pretty smooth. To install a room you need to root then unlock your bootloader.

Hi, I recently bought an Acer A500 without realising that the software updates were no longer supported by Acer. The current build is Acer_A500_1.105.01_EMEA_GEN3 and it is on Android 3.01. I am wanting to upgrade to a newer version as this software seems to be outdated and doesn't seem to run properly. Is it possible to install a Full ROM directly over this to get to Android 4.0 or do I have to update incrementally? I have no experience in dealing with this so would appreciate any help I can get. So far any links I've found to the full ROM's are inactive. I've downloaded the following OS from the Acer website but not sure whether I can simply run these to upgrade: Acer_7.014.02.041.203.01.WW.GEN1_A32H_A and Acer_AV041.A500.RV21RC03.WW.GEN1_A40I_A.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

If they are zip files take the Acer_AV041.A500 one and rename it update.zip put it on an SD card and turn on your tablet holding the volume up button + power(may be volume down) and it should update to ics(4.0). If you want to update past that( to so thing like KitKat(4.4) you need to root your tablet and unlock your bootloader there is a couple tutorials on this website on how to do that. If you want links to everything just ask me.

Thanks for the quick response. There is an update.zip file in that zip folder so will use that one. Does is matter that it's not EMEA_GEN3? Is there any benefit to updating from 4.0 to KitKat 4.4?

I would try to flash that any way, it probably won't work but it's worth a shot. The only benefit to getting kitkat would be more supported apps from the app store but a lot of apps don't work anyway because this tablet does not have neon support.

Have tried to install it but just got the Android logo with an orange exclamation mark. I'll try the other file but expecting the same result. If that doesn't work, would I be likely to have better success if I root it and install custom software?

Yes but, it is a fairly complicated process(compared to most other devices). I would see if you can find any firmware downloads for this device and try those before you try installing a custom rom.
