I think I'm firmly on the new 10.1 Tab right now. 3 MP camera is something I can live with, in exchange for the slimness and weight. I think they displayed an older build (10.6 mm) thickness, with TouchWiz on it on the AC video. So, I don't want to jump to conclusions on the lag

Yes but when compared to all the other Android tablets, the rear camera is the worst. Even worst then any smartphone out last year and now.

But why in the world would you ever need a 8MP camera on your 10" tablet??? Is there ever a time when you have your tablet with you and not your phone or other digital camera/DSLR and you just need to take a hi-res photo?

I agree. I only use my phone camera for an "Oh Crap" spontaneous photo, not a thought out photograph where high res makes a difference. Not to mention that the quality of the lens really determines the end quality of the image. You can find shots taken on a 3MP camera with a great lens that will blow you away.

I haven't see the Androidcentral video. But apparently there were no functioning new Galaxy Tab 10.1. The old 10.1 was used to demonstrate Honeycomb and TouchWiz. So I probably wouldn't worry too much about that, since that isn't the tablet we are getting anyway.
I'm not concerned about the camera. I'd like to have a camera, but I don't require it to be uber. I think having a good camera on my smart phone is far more important, because it's easier to hold and click pictures with a 4 inch phone than a 10 inch tablet.
Xoom disappointed me, I returned mine after a few days. It was too heavy, didn't feel comfortable to hold long, and the screen was good, but not great.
Galaxy Tab is much lighter and appears to be more comfortable to hold. Comfort is huge, I want to be able to hold this thing in my hands without fatigue or sharp corners digging into my fingers.
And the PLS screen, no doubt will blow away whatever type of panel the Xoom is using.

I just got back from the Verizon store and spent a good 20 minutes with the Xoom, and honestly my arm got tired. That thing is HEAVY. Its the first thing you notice when you pick it up. It is obviously solidly built which is what the weight offers, but man I couldn't see myself using that thing with one hand for very long.
1.6lbs is heavy. If these things come out and are solidly built for 1lb I'll be sold on it.
Should also note that using the Xoom makes me realize I probably won't want anything smaller than a 10.1" tablet. The Xoom has a much smaller footprint than the iPad because it is 16:9 and not 4:3. I think the 8.9" might be a little too small. I like the 10.1" ability to be able to view full web pages without pinching/zooming to read them properly.
Yep, I'm sold on the 10.1 even though i swore to never purchase a Samsung device. I'm putting my Xoom up for sale as of today

Nvidia's tegra site has the galaxy tab 10.1 listed as having the tegra 2
I will probably look to buy the 10.1v (or whatever they end up calling the original). I want to buy in the next month or so, so if it's not available it will be the iPad 2 until June.
Have you seen the needle like charger tip for the xoom? Bad things will happen to something so flimsy... That's half the reason I took mine back. Other half is the new Tab 10.1.

Keep in mind that there's a VERY real chance that the 720p S-AMOLED will be a return to pentile matrix. And I like buttons on a phone, so I don't think I'm going to have a lot of Nexus envy.

That was my first thought too BUT I will be PISSED if it doesn't come to ATT on Aug. 29th or close to it as Samsung already promised for US versions in August. I TRUELY HOPE the rumors are correct and SINCE the att version should be released before any of the dates shown is just all the phones that will be coming in the future that aren't ALREADY PLANNED for release. Damn I hope I am not getting my hopes up too high for Aug. 29th. That is the day I am elegible for upgrade also...

I wasn't blown away either by the screen on the Galaxy S II coming from my Captivate, until the other day. I switched to the Captivate to take it on a bike ride, just in case something happened, I would rather that phone break and I noticed a huge difference in screen clarity and quality. So from Galaxy S to the Galaxy S II, the difference does not seem like much. However, when you go the other way, you will see what you are missing.

Thinking, software vs. hardware? Hardware on Note is 5x better, but Galaxy Nexus has new and best software 3 months earlier than galaxy Note. I'll choose Note, because i don't have rush to get the Icecream Sandwich. Just my opinion...
Sent from my GT-I9000 using xda premium
Consider also three other things :
- Do you need large storage (Nexus deos not have a microSD card)
- Do you need radio FM (Nexus does not have it)
- Do you need ICS (Note does not have it ... yet)
Well, I don't need a pen but I think I would have used it (seems like a good idea)
and big screen is nice, since I always carring my phone in the belt..
- I have also not used up my 16 GB SD card on my Nexus One, so I probably won't need more than 16GB but nice to have the opportunity..
- No need for FM radio..
- This point is where I am not sure.. ICS really looks nice and not having to wait for Samsung to get new releases is also be positive..
Damn theses decisions.....
BTJ
Get the Note for everyone who has moved to a larger screen says they would never go back to a smaller one. The stylus and the SD slot significantly increases the power of the Note and Gingerbread is very capable whilst waiting for ICS which will surely come.
It's a question of hardware versus software
Nexus is a Galaxy S 2 with software improvements and slightly different hardware. Design and look has been updated. Larger screen size is because there are no longer buttons on the bottom. These buttons are now in the OS. So you still have about the same size screen maybe slightly more because the width is slightly larger. Nexus does not have 3G data bands. It does have HSPU and LTE as well as 2G data and 3G voice. The processor and graphics hardware is different. Possibly better than Galaxy S 2. It is still 1.2 ghz dual core. It has Android 4.0, the latest and greatest software, with a host of new features. Nexus has Lotus glass and a higher resolution screen than GS2 as well as NFC.
The Note has a significantly larger 5.3" screen, 1.4 ghz dual core processor, and stylus. It has 3G data & voice as well as HSPU. You will probably be able to get Android 4.0 and almost all its features through a custom rom within a month or two after launch.
The rule is buy for hardware. You will be able to put Android 4.0 on the Galaxy S 2 shortly. I already own a Galaxy S 2 and the hardware is very similar so I would not be getting a whole more with the Nexus. If you do not have the GS2, the Nexus would be a good upgrade for you. With the Note I do have better hardware than GS2, so I'm buying that. One other consideration is size. The Note is big. Really big.
Amen. I didn't regret my purchase for a single second.
And I don't mind to wait another two or three months for ICS so the first bugs are already ironed out.

LOL! You're just plain mean
I'm watching the video of the Note release and right in the beginning they also mention the Nexus, and the fact that the Nexus is being released with Ice Cream Sandwich at launch - why isn't the Note also being released on that platform? Makes me curious as to whether or not ICS will never come to the Note - I've already been involved in an innovative platform that never evolved (Garmin iQue 3600), I'm going to be very disappointed if the Note goes the same way....
I've been debating between these 2 and I think it's a no brainer.
If the size of the note isn't an issue for you then it's the note, it's a bigger and high res screen and has far more grunt CPU and GPU.
I haven't yet seen proof that the nexus can display 720p video on full screen (on honeycomb the buttons could not be hidden apart from with a root app).
The only thing the nexus has over it is ICS and I would be amazed if the note didnt get that this year.
"Most importantly, though, the brains of the operation is the OMAP4460 application processor which has two Cortex-A9 cores clocked at 1.2GHz — quite fast, certainly, but it isn’t the 1.5GHz Exynos that we were hoping for.
It is because of the OMAP4460 processor that the Galaxy Nexus will only have the PowerVR SGX540 GPU, an antiquated beast from 2007 that can actually be found underneath the hood of last year’s Nexus S, and in the Droid Bionic. The SGX540 is very weak compared to the Mali-400 GPU found in Samsung’s Exynos SoC (the one that powers the Galaxy S II), and it’s positively snail-paced against the Apple A5′s SGX543MP2."
Frankly, I'm not even tempted by the Nexus or the SGS II compared to the Note, I'm just really curious why they didn't use ICS for two phones being rolled out at the same time.

Also has green tint. Worse battery. Worse camera. Worse HD recording according to those "reviewers"
FM radio, etc etc.. only thing the nexus has going is software updates and bigger (albeit worse) screen.
I do not really like justifying purchases, but I do not like the Galaxy Nexus because of one reason:
There is no Micro SD card slot.
That kills it for me, all my Gameloft games already fill up my SGS2's internal SD, and I need space for my music and videos, so I'm sorry, I'm not willing to make that compromise.
Galaxy Nexus: 16gb or less
Samsung Galaxy S II: 16gb+32gb = 48gb (Y)
I would buy the galaxy s 2. It's better value for the money if you flash a nice ROM IMO.

Eh? Is this a statement or question?
If you asking if it has one, or if you are saying it DOESN'T have one, then you're right; the international GS2 (I9100) actually doesn't have one, exactly. At least, not a dedicated search button, like a lot of other Android phones.
You have to long-press the Menu button to get search. This should work in all contexts. I just tried from Home screen, in the Gmail app, the Email app, and the browser.
