I have an evo 4g and already has been flashed over to cricket, my question is .......does this flash have any ill effects when installing a new rom?
No, but not all ROM's may work properly.
you'll likely have trouble with MMS if using a rom intended for a phone on the Sprint network. That's really about it.
Dont know if this has been mentioned before.
Can I upgrade to 2.3 without negative effects?
Sorry if this has been discussed before.
Also, can I flash a regular rom ?
You can but it will require a rooted phone. My first evo I bought I flashed it to cricket and it is no different on the newer roms. The main problem I had was mms did not properly work until jimmy for evo. I rarely am in these evo sections cause I have other devices to concentrate on. My recommendations are root your phone. Do a search for flashing to cricket here and other places for evo, then find a rom with proper epts support. Once that is done, learn CDMA master to change settings if you cannot do it via epts. I am sorry I cannot be anymore help, it has been a long time since I messed with cricket. I switched over to sprint because I was fed up with cricket internet and mms crap. Hope this helps. I had to learn on my own and google is your best friend.
Its another phone I have, which its already flashed to cricket. I was wondering if I could flash "smooth n sexy" for example.
or a gb rom without braking it

You can flash any ROM, the thing is this, you may have to replace some of the files that you copied over. I run MikGs rom on my Evo flashed to cricket. There is a tut somewhere in this section that works for ANY ROM. That is why I keep the files I may need (telephony.db for example) on my SD card.
But the other items that you changed that require EPST remain untouched. Just the u2nl file you might need if you're on the 45 plan and of course, the telephony.db along with the apn file
Got it, thx.
what if I just flash an sbc kernel with undervolt? without the Rom

You can flash any kernel on top of any ROM. The kernel doesn't touch anything related to the flash or files needed to function on Cricket.
I somehow lost my 3g flashing custom roms i eas wondering how or what can i do to get it back

near the end of post #1 there's a GETTING 3G part

if the phone was flashed before going to a different rom then the qpst settings dont need to be changed, if the rom you changed to is aosp then you need the data fix for cm7/miui but if not and your data isnt working then you need to set your proxy settings again, thats iff your on a proxy plan. but if not on a proxy plan then somehow the qpst settings did get messed up and you need to double check them on a touchwiz based roms.
dangit, sry mods i didnt realize this was a old thread resurrected.
Hello,
Trying to get my new mb525 setup. Got it last night and everything worked well as far as the radio, able to get 3G with decent connection speed.
After rooting and installing CM10 (quarx) I'm not getting anything on the network, no 2g, no 3g, and just "emergency calls only". Thought it might be the tmobile sim card, but tried others and still no luck. Put in an old AT&T sim card and got a connection, so seems that there is something wrong with the radio itself, at least for the frequencies I need, but for GSM I'd think there wouldnt be any problem since all the radios are quad band GSM, right?
I've tried using standalone Baseband Switcher, as well as the one built into CM with no luck. I also tried the 3G fixes, replacing the files in /system/etc/motorola/bp_nvm_default with those in freq_F_US_342_107-850-1700-2100-signed.zip.
Baseband is at EPU93_U_00.60.03, and I know it has previously had JRDNEM_U3_3.4.2_177-003_BLUR_SIGN_SIGNED_USAJRDNEMARAB1B8RTGB03A.0R_PDS03C_USAJRDNFRYORTGB_P019_A010_HWp3_Service1FF.sbf flashed onto it. Have rebooted, reflashed, wided dalvik/cache/system quite a few times since last night, with no luck.
Is there a solution for this? I would appreciate any insight.
Thank you,
Anybody?
Has anyone ever had similar problems and been able to fix it? After searching a bit I've found threats of others with the problem, but seems no one has ever posted a real solution

Did you install any custom kernel?

Yes, I've tried both the signed kernels here http://defy.wdscript.fr/kernel/, that were linked from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1795647.
So following up on this.
I flashed the JORDN_U3_6.36.0_SIGNED_USAJRDNTMOB1B4B5DE1028.0R_JORDANTMO_P022_HWp3_Service1FF.sbf.gz sbf file, Tmobile base, as a start. No signal. Pulled the official OTA update, still no signal. This puts baseband version at epu93_U_00.58.00, and kernel at 2.6.32.9-g8431013.
Rooted with Gingerbreak and installed Baseband switcher, have tried each of the 3 TMobile bands and still no signal.
At this point I've largely given up on getting this to work for me, but now I just want to understand why it doesn't. Is there something that controls the radio that wouldn't be taken care of by flashing and SBF? Is there anything that controls radio frequencies/firmware besides this, and is there any way to determine what frequencies a current radio firmware supports?
Does anyone have a working tmobile nandroid backup that I could compare with this?
Seems unlikely, but is it possible that this is a hardware issue that just happened to occur while I was initially putting on CM10?
I realize this is a wall of questions, so thanks for reading this far
Last update.
Success, I'm a dumbass. I finally realized that the baseband I was selecting wasn't for the network I was trying to connect to, it was for the radio hardware! One of the Chinese firmwares, ME722 1.0 was perfect for me, and seems to support more than just the bands listed in CM. Says 850/1900/2100, but I'm getting nice HSPA speeds on tmobile, which is in the 1700 mhz band, so great stuff.
Hope this helps someone else, and saves them a few hours.

Can you please provide linke to ME722 1.0 Chinese firmware that you used to solve this problem. I have a dead defy that is almost in similar state. No signal whatever i try.
Every time I flash a rom I lose 3g. I've tried all the touch wiz roms like wanam and pyrana and everything works except 3g. It goes down to 1x. I still have data just not the 3g speed. Any ideas?

hi to help you out here goes,
its more than likely that when your flashing roms this changes your baseband (ie modem/radio)
to fix this you will need to remember what the original baseband was prior to flashing custom roms (ie when it was stock rom)
if you cant remember try phoning your providor who should be able to tell you.
then simply find the corresponding modem here on xda and wheather its a cwm file (.zip) or odin file (.tar.md5) flash that and 3g should be restored.
however which network are you on and do you have a sg4 (reason being is that its an lte phone built for faster web speed so if your seeing a (dc or 4g) all is well.
also you may have your settings incorrect in wireless and network/more/mobile networks
Yeah I'm on the sprint network and have the 9505. So it's capable of 4g lte but that's not available here yet. It is in Detroit and when I've been closer to there I've seen it switch to 4g but it's always on 3g down here in Ohio. I think it's kernel related as I was messing around with the stock rom and different mods like transparent status bar and different toggle icons and I figured I might as well flash wanams new version of the Adam kernel 1.4 and I lost my data connection. On the stock rom. I restoredit and it was back.
