Volume down when you power up is recovery. There is no such thing as "download mode". What does the screen show when you do volume down and power on?

Dont panic matee. Try leave it for a few hours, nothing in except for battery. Then leave it charging for about 12h (overnight etc) then try hold volume-down and power, and your HBOOT should come up.

2) If not, your phone is a hard brick - no recovery possible.

I know they are a lot of Topics about this, I have tried everything (I think), here is my problem.
The Epic is stuck at the Battery Charging Icon. It will not Power On, It will not go to Download Mode, and it will not go to Recovery.
What are my other options, since the phone is not following commands, is not rooted and is not activated?
Thanks guys

If you have the battery out it should not react that way. With the battery out hold the 1 key on the keyboard and plug into a USB port and press the power button while still holding the 1 key.
It shows me the battery icon and then goes away, shows again then goes away...

Only power and the 1 key on the keyboard will get you into download mode. Sounds like you will have to take into the Sprint store to diagnose at this point. If you can't get into download mode, you are screwed. You can try leaving the battery out for a couple of hours.

This is due to the thin wiring harness being damaged that connects the keyboard to the Motherboard.. It can be replaced at your local Sprint repair store.

This happen when I bricked my phone. Unplugged my phone and took the battery out for about a day and then afterward pressed the power button about 30 times and I got lucky and my phone went into download mode after I pressed 1 and the power button. The key is discharging your phone's memory and reflashing your phone with stock rom. I had to reflash my phone a lot of times before my flash stuck.

Ok. it turns on that is good. Now turn off the phone hold down the power button and the 1 key on the keyboard. This should get you to download mode. Pressing the power button is useful to get your phone to powerup and now that it is powered up you can now flash the stock rom on your phone thru odin. Reflashing stock rom is the key to fixing your phone.
But the power buttom is not working, I already give it a hard reset and the phone was not rooted, you think that is gonna fix the buttom? I thought it was an hardware issue.. what do you thing?

Guys...I have a quick question...well maybe 2...
(1) so my phone is having the same problem. Working one minute, then not the next and I can't get the phone to boot up at all. Is there any other way I could get it to boot...through USB to the PC, anything?
(2) So I got it into download mode, and it completed. Did that download everything from the phone to my pc? If so, where is that data and how will I get it back to my new phone?
Sorry for the stupid questions, but I haven't dove into things like this with the Samsung yet. Thanks!!!

Once you're in download mode use Odin for a fresh install.

I have been trying to turn on my phone for several hours and it just won't turn on, the battery is full as well. I have tried many solutions such as
1. Download all the files required in the "SOFT BRICKS" section of this post.
2. Remove everything from your phone (SD card, sim, battery).
3. Plug your phone into your computer WITHOUT the battery, as you have already taken it out in the last step.
4. Press and HOLD vol. up and vol. down.
5. As you are HOLDING these buttons, reattach your battery.
6. You should be in Download Mode.
7. Unplug phone from USB
This method wouldn't help, my phone is still off. I really need help . Thanks in advance.
Is there a way to unbrick it without jigging it? I know that it has been hard bricked but I tried out many methods

Alright, so my Continuum has been bricked for some time now. I was attempting to root and install a custom recovery through ODIN but got messed up somewhere along the way and in effect bricked my Continuum. It wont turn on, wont indicate charging and wont do anything else I try to get it to do. I'm reaching out to you Continuum experts who know something about ODIN or un-bricking so I can potentially bring my Continuum back to life. I loved that phone, but my stupidity ruined the fun. I'm thinking that if there's some way to re-enter download mode that might help. Thanks everyone!
There is a sticky thread about bricking your phone. It says enter the irc and wait. There isn't enough info given to decipher the problem. And if you can't get into download mode, I don't think you really can't do much but take it in to Verizon. But there may be hope.... in the irc.

Sorry, what are the button combinations for download mode? I should also mention that I have absolutely no way of knowing whether or not my battery is even charged anymore because they phone does nothing when I plug it into the charger. In fact, my computer doesn't even recognize when I plug the phone in.

If the volume down/ power button combo doesn't work to get into download mode, try this: unplug the usb cable, take the battery out, then hold the volume down button and plug the usb cable into the phone. That should bring you into download mode.

Not sure if you're still looking to fix this, but try to make a download mode jig, or buy one, like they use on the GSM variants of the SGS phone lineup. It works on the CDMA models, but usually isn't needed. If that doesn't work, you may be able to try the Fascinate un-brickable mod, though I don't know if that will work or not.

Turn off the device(Hold the power button for about 10sec) if it's on. Now hold all three hardware buttons(Power, volume UO & Down) togather till the google logo shows up, and this will tur your device on into fastboot mode. Now you should be able to to find your devece from your PC(if driver installed). If you ment "Wug's Nexus Root Toolkit" by "WUG" than you probably want to use Flash stock + Unroot (Can't boot up).

I actually got to the HSUSB_DLOAD on my computer also. For me that came up if you press vol +/- and power at the same time. The screen will not turn on but windows detects something trying to install. I wonder what that is. Remember to boot into bootloader it is vol - and power. Hope this helps.
Try a different cable. It doesn't brick that easily.

When you say "Will not boot" do you mean you're able to power it on and it gets stuck at the X screen? Or it can't power on at all?
If you're able to power it on, you should be able to get into fastboot mode and restore it to factory settings or flash the stock images.
If you can't power it on at all, then it's a hardware issue and there's nothing you can do about it. Unless you know how to fix the hardware.
