hey there, i perm rooted my mytouch 4g with s=off using the gfree method,
worked great, then i put the sense 3.0 rom on it, it worked perfectly untill it randomly froze one day, i tried reflashing but clockworkmod kept giving me this message
E:Can´t mount /cache/recovery/command
E:Can´t mount /cache/recovery/log
E:Can´t open /cache/recovery/log
E:Can´t mount /cache/recovery/last_log
E:Can´t open /cache/recovery/last_log
then i tried to reinstall the PD15IMG.zip to get back to the factory mytouch 4g rom, but it failed at the last step.
now my mytouch 4g wont even turn on into recovery mode or hboot when i power on holding the volume down button.
does anyone have a solution?
thanks
Sounds like you are truly bricked. I don't know of a sure fire method to recover from this.
A trip to the "post your eMMC serial number" may of help you avoid this. And their are countless threads on this already. You might find something via searching. But like i said there is no 100% surefire way to fix this problem.

something's wrong with the image file you're trying to install. From the looks of it, the files aren't signed, so the phone won't install it.
I'm assuming you're looking for the official 1.6 image and you have a regular g1, not a ADP1 so...
look around the forums here, someone reuploaded those files since htc pulled them down from their website.
Be aware that if you just install the official 1.6 image, the recovery menu is gonna be gone. Or at least it was for me when i did. You're gonna have to reinstall the recovery menu if you use just the official image, without any other roms like CM.
Do I need to install this Dream 1.6 image first or fix SPL since I can't get to bootloader? How can I flash Radio and SPL if I can't get to bootloader mode?

did you ever find a fix?? i'm having the same problem
Your Home key isn't stuck is it? If you only press Back while you're in recovery, does the phone reboot, or do you HAVE to press Home + Back? It's a longshot, but that would be an epic facepalm if I may say so myself.
Im pretty much having this same problem, i cant even get into shell via adb, I get a "exec '/system/bin/sh' failed: No such file or directory (2)" error. another error that i am getting is the E:Can't read MISC: (no space on device) in the recovery console, and i read that the MISC partition contains boot information. i would really like to find a solution to this as i have been looking for a few months now.

Anyone ever figure this out? Trying to help a friend out with a G1.

Just use this^
The downgrading part should restore you back to stock 1.0
My belief is that if you screw up restore to stock 1.0 and redo everything
If you gave us a bit more detail though we might find a easier method for you
Thanks, my friend got the phone with a broken screen and all it does its boot to the screen with the exclamation point on it.
Followed the guide in your link to downgrade the firware. We get stuck on the step to boot into bootloader. Holding camera and power just gets us to recovery (screen with exclamation) not into bootloader. After messing around a bit I found that if I hold "home" and "back" and then press power it SOMETIMES goes into bootloader. When I do get into bootloader nothing works to flash the .nbh file. By nothing works i mean no buttons work at all to flash or to cancel.

Than its a hardware problem
The buttons are broken
You can try take it apart and look inside, but it sounds like it's totalled.
thats what we decided last night also. Thanks for the help
Same issue but a little more twisted
I tried flashing my G1 and it bricked(Soft Brick).
Somehow by luck I flashed the DREAIMG.nbh and have a stock phone now.
But the problem is I cant pass the Stratup screen because I get no network.
Unable to connect to the internet as well.
I tried the orange DREAIMG.nbh which bypasses the startup screen, even thought i come to the Home screen i get no network.
It gives an Error while trying to search for a Network.
When i try to flash any update.zip files it gives an error
E: No Signature
E: Verification Failed
Installation aborted.
When I enter the Recovery mode i get a error line saying " E: Can't open /cache/recovery/command
Any run around to this??? Is this by any chance a Hardware issue?
I doubt it, what recovery do you have? Also with the spl you know have just use fastboot flash for you roms, your error rate will be down to nothing

Its a Android System recovery utility, I cant get to the home screen also becuase i have no connectivity to get past the the Google sign in screen...
I tried the Fastboot but have no idea how to go with it!!
Need some help with it...
There are plenty of fastboot how tos amoung these threads here, otherwise go straight to the sdk website and there will be plenty of options, on my phone now so I can't walk you through it well. Pretty much download the sdk package to your comp and then make sure all the proper drivers are downloaded. Either change the variables in your device manager or open a cmd in the folder where fastbooot is located. You can also just change directories to get there. Put the files you need in the same folder as fastboot. Plug in your phone with it in hboot mode and you should see fastboot usb show up. The do fastboot -w then fastboot flash for whatever rom you need. Check the toutorials it will be more help

Well I believe I have bricked my Vibrant..
I have tried installing Eugenes Unbrickable with 513 pit - VIA Odin and it passes and restarts than gets stuck on the Samsung startup screen.
Then I procedded to reinstall with the Factory JFD and 512 PIT and the same thing happens, it installs and Odin says passed but on the restart it gets stuck on the Samsung startup screen..
Is there anyway to fix this, I think I have tried everything and I'm about ready to through in the towel.
Did you try checking Re-partition option the second time?
If your problem was with a lag fix active you must do that the second time.

Vibrant
TW Fusion 1.1 Stock Kernel EXT2 lagfix
You can also try a JI6 file with NO 512.pit
Neither one of those methods are working for me...
How long are letting it sit for? It takes awhile on the first boot. I don't see any reason it wouldn't work since ODIN replaces everything including the kernel.
I let it sit for at least 1hr before pulling the battery and trying again..
I think I have tried every combination of files and nothing is working, the only PIT file I haven't tried is 514..
I had it once where it booted up into recovery mode but the volume buttons were reversed and the power button didn't work..
Now I'm just stuck on the recovery screen with the following errors
E:Can't mount /dev/block/st110
(Invalid argument)
E:copy_dbdata_media:Can't mount DBDATA:
copy default media content failed.

Try what? Not sure what you want me to try
What version of ODIN are you using? try 1.3 and see if you have any luck
Using Odin 1.3..
I'm not sure what elese the problem could be..
Does anyone know how long it takes to run just the PIT file..It's been loading now for about 25min..And doesn't seen like anything is happening
email me i will stay up day and night with you untill we fix it lol no joke [email protected]
I got my phone less than a year ago. Ran the 1 click root thing worked flawlessly since then and about a week ago my phone just decided to not work. All the applications i would open would force close and you couldn't do anything. So i turned it off and when i turned it on i got my problem.
The phone boots into the "S" and then it hangs at the loading screen until i pull the battery out.
I google searched a few times and i determined it was an SD card failure. The guide i followed told me to go into the 3 button combo thing and when i go to do a factory reset it gives me this "E:Can't mount /dev/block/mmblkOp1 (I/O error)
E:Can;t mount SDCARD:update.zip"
It's still on stock firmware, froyo i think?
Any help please?
Myhm... sometime happens.
It may be some issue.. try to flash clocworkmod 2.5.1.8.. if you are on Froyo, it may help. another solution may be (and I'd try it first) to apply Click
Is there anyway to check if the eMMC fails?
I was using ICS for several days, and I powered on the Nook after it was out of power one nite. Suddenly, it stops at the Cyanogen "loading..."
I'ved tried to boot into Recovery, and it stops at the Cyanogen "loading into recovery" ..
After several tests and trying, I finally use bootable uSD to boot into CWR 3.0.2.8, and now it shows can't mount boot/system/data if I try to format these partitions.
I am wondering if the eMMC is broken, and how can I fix it.
Appreciated and sorry for my bad English.

I don't know what happens I was stuck like you then loaded that post onto a 4gb SD and hoped to boot into a Tom but recovery posted up then all I did was push reset and bam miui booted [previous ] rom and configuration I don't know if what I did really helped but all I know was it was bootlooping at cyanogenmods logo with booting symbol. Since its my wife's tab I just through 1.4.1 nook rom so she's happy now.

Yes, I did try the method you mention. The only thing I got was a blank screen.
I tried the "fdisk" method, and found that there is no block device, so I think the hardware (eMMC) was broken. Just need to confirm that.
Thx anyway.
guys my nook color was running as smooth as a butter.i brought it one year back.i initially started out by running cm7.2.then i got clockworkmod recovery.and i updated to cm10 nighties and later cm10.1.i used to update nighties of cm10.1 daily by using cyandelta.however i installed rom manager and it showed me a new recovery so i downloaded and installed it.after that the cyandelta used to download update but those had to be manually flashed by rom manager.
About two weeks back i downloaded nighties through cyandelta and flashed it through clockwork mod recovery.ever since that time its refusing to power on.when i put it for charging ,the orange light of the pin lights up and on full charging it became green .i tried to open nook to remove battery but found there are three battery connectors covered with some rubber material .i disconnected and then reconnected .but it is refusing to show any sign of life.on connecting to laptop and trying to switch it on it momentarily tries searching drivers.i have read all posts.made bootable sd card used all leapenlars files but of no respite.Infact once while trying to write image to my sd card i wrote the image on my ext hard drive and lost all my data.finally i gave up and have ordered nexus 7.i am a doctor nephrologist i need tablet for reading articles and book . if any one can help me out i willl be pleased . i have been trying since last two weeks as i always believed nook was indestructible .please help me
Do you know anyone else with one of these Nooks? I've heard of the charging cables going bad and causing all sorts of freak-outs, and you can't just use another android cable to do it. I know if your Nook is completely dead, you won't get any response out of the screen even while it's plugged in, until the battery hits something like 10%. Might be that the cable thinks the Nook is charged when it isn't.
Another dead nook color after updating - any suggestions?
I too, have a dead nook color that has been my pride and joy for the past year and a half. Always running smooth without problems as I have gone from CM7.2 -> CM 10.1 RC5. However things changed for me when I tried to install the zip from SD card, using the latest CM10.1 nightly from 6/18, 2 days ago. Half way through the loading/install process the screen when black, and would no long respond or boot. No mater what I do, I can only get it to boot into recovery, using my trusty SD boot disc. That is when the errors start. At the bottom of the recovery screen it says:
ClockworkMod recovery v3.0.2.8
E:can't mount /cache/recovery/command
E:can't mount /cache/recovery/log
E:can't open /cache/recovery/log
E:can't mount /cache/recovery/last_log
E:can't open /cache/recovery/last_log
When I try to install zip from sdcard, the error I get is...
E:can't mount /sdcard
Without being able to mount the sdcard I can't figure out how to upgrade or fix my nook...
Any help would be much appreciated.... I Love My Nook!
