What is your KERNEL and ROM combination? - EVO 4G General

I want to try what others have found to be a good combo.

As of about a week ago, I'm on CM7 nightlies and SavagedZen 2.2.1-BFS. I'm also using the DM A2SD 2.7.5.3-b4. So far so good.

Been running MikG Sense 2.1 + 3.0 v2.45 with Lithid's Aggresive Freedom kernel v0.8. Running great for me so far...

CM7 7.1 RC1, Tiamat 4.0.5 non SBC. Great battery life, super stable, performance when needed.

Synergy RLS1 - More-Freedom v0.8 kernel. Great battery life and super stable. Coming from running AOSP for 5mo.

deck's latest with salvage-zen bfs kernel. battery loves me very long time.

cm7 with "bloat" removed + savaged zen bfs + sd speed booster script + juwe ram boost script = very very fast evo with very fast sd response

cm7 > always latest nightly.
savzen 221 CFS
vipermod undervolting script
supercharger v6 update8 script
best config ever.

Calkulin's EViO 3 v1.0 + Golden Monkey + V6 SuperCharger script = One sexy stable fast EVO.
After finally getting root this weekend i been trying out different ROMS and Kernels and thats what i have settled with.

Synergy RC2, and Golden Monkey 1.0
I should probably update both, but my phone has not had a single problem with this setup.

My Combo
OMGB 2.3.4 w/ Tiamat SBC 3.3.7 kernel
Been running above for last couple of weeks w/no issues. Have SetCPU O/Ced to 1152 w/ 128 min on Smartass governor. Awesome battery life w/ Seido 3500 batt.
Been tempted to try latest OMFGB nightlies, but hate to f with something that works so well.

I'm on decks 1.12 with the tiamat 3.3.7 sbc kernel. I'm using the v6 supercharger and vipermod, juice defender and an extended battery. Besides the fact that I have no more 720p video, which I did make use of pretty often, I don't think this phone could get any more responsive or longer lasting.
It's a great combo.
Sent from my Decks Evo. Quickly.

Mikg 2.45 freedom aggressive 8.5

I'm rocking the latest MIUI with Tiamat 4.0.6 with SBC.

No matter which rom I try, I always switch back to Evo Deck. Currently running (and loving):
Evo Deck 1.3b2 (2.3.5)
Tiamat 3.3.7 sbc
Lean, customizable, quick, and stable. The perfect combo for me.

Sense: synergy+freedom
AOSP: decks or salvagemod+savagedzen

Synergy RLS1+GodMode ROM
Freedom-v0.8.5 - Aggressive Kernel
Set CPU 768 max 128 min interactiveX
Snappy with decent battery life

Opinions on Roms

What is your favorite Rom and why? I'm currently using virtuous and I like it because of the extended battery life and its just a better stock Rom. Now your turn forum members

i always loved sense... thats why i never tried another rom.. then i saw the new sense and fell in love with it. been using it since i think .3
Currently running The New Guy and loving it. It's very smooth. I also ran Uncommon Sense for awhile and loved everything about that ROM, too; it's a toss up which is better IMO. I've tried most ROMs and liked the features of Sense overall better than the AOSP ROMs.
Skyraider 3.3 + IncRevolution = SEXY @$$ PHONE!
(also throw in King Kernel BFS #5 for quickness and battery life)
I use my own roms most of the time with king 5 cfs (for sense) and king 1 cfs (for vanilla) and the colin-ph battery tweak.
This makes for a sexy and stable phone

I'm running Ruby 1.1.1 with Adrynalyne's battery aosp kernel. I'm a big fan of vanilla roms and I like how lightweight Ruby is. I might switch to CM 6.1 when the final release comes out though.
Skyraider 3.3.1 Sense, by far my favorite ROM and I've flashed plenty. It has the key features of the new Sense and has been 100% stable and bug free. I was one of the beta testers and even then it was amazing. I've tried many others and always come back. Kings BFS #5, again for good measure.
I love stock sense 2.2. I use the leaked version.
I have added features which were important to me by studying kernels. I chose hydrakernel undervolted v0.5.
My battery life it's awesome without screwing around with task killers.
Kings kernels sound great too.

Thanks man but i cannot find it anywhere
Ok so i looked it up and it seems like it basically does exactly what i have setcpu already doing. And yes i use set cpu with a kings kernel and it works wonderfully for me.
My favorite by far is Redemptive rEVOlution. Very smooth, haven't had a FC yet, and the battery life is nice. This is with WiFi and Bluetooth on the entire time, and no bump charge with the Seido 1750.

On average id say i probably get around 16-20 hours on my stock battery which works for me and i keep my 3g and gps on at all times

Kernel, rom, battery life-post here

I was thinking it would be helpful for us newbies to have a thread where you geniuses share with us your setup and battery life. That way we dont have to keep asking. I have tried everything but no luck.
Please include kernel, rom, and setcpu profiles and advanced settings thanks.

bro this is the best advice in my opinion. with this setup you get the most functionality out of an evo rom with the least setup required
Rom-calkulins evio 2 rom. get the most current one same one im running
kernel- a heavily customized ziggy rom is built in. leave it.. its amazing
setcpu- dont use it. dont install it. calk has a battery script built in and it works like a charm. getting 30 plus hours of battery
i personally flashed the extra 150mv undervolt mod. my phone can handle it
Myn rls5 amd netarchy 4.2.1 cfs more aggressive sbc. Just got 15 hours unplugged and 4 hours awake time...good enough for me.
Thanks guys on caulks its a fantastic rom my phone is dying quick. My best luck was ou miui so far. Still having trying different combos out

Sure. I'll play along. Since I make my own roms and stuff, I can't exactly offer the rom to use. However...
Kernel: Netarchy 4.3.1 CFS HAVS SBC | Get it Here.
Rom: Eternal Prophecy v29 (My own. Private.)
CPU Scaling: Not using SetCPU. I use a modified version of Ziggy's Kernel Tweaks.
1. Screen On: Max-> 1190 / Min-> 245 / Governor: Smartass
2. Screen Off: Max-> 576 / Min -> 245 / Governor: Smartass
I'm at 20 hours unplugged with 17% battery remaining after moderate usage today.
Are you using an extended battery to get that battery life? If not, I want your rom thanks man

(Q) What's your default rom?best one of all you've tried?

What's everyones default rom?
Best batteryy life?
Mine is mikshift and cm7
best ROM i've had is gingerbread shift deck (which i've been using for the past couple weeks), best battery life i've had was on AwesomeROM or MikShift
I'm really liking Mikshift OC'd to 1.5GHz. MikBrando GSense has an awesome look and feel (guess I'm partial to the Sense eye candy and 2.0 is slick) and it will probably be my daily driver once the kernel source is released and it can be OC'd. BrandoKC's green theme really gives it an "executive" look. On the other hand, Sense ROMs can't touch the performance of AOSP ROMs such as cm7 at equivalent clock speeds, but you pay for it with battery life. That's my two cents.
Sent from my MikShifted Speedy using XDA Premium App
ive been getting the best battery life on cm7. im on nightly 91 and using the stock kernel clocked to 1 ghz and i can easily go a full 2 days with atleast 15 percent left
default is cm7 stable 7.0.3.1 but lately i've been using shift deck and it's cool.
Shift deck is the very best rom imo. I love it and its better than CM7 to me.

Miui 1.4.29, amazing speed and 24 hrs plus battery with moderate usage. Ill never go back to sense.... what's the point?
Sent from my MiuiSpeedy
I wish my GPS worked and I also wished my signal was better so that I could fully enjoy CM7. I keep having to go back to a sense rom to "fix" the GPS issue. I'm on Mikshift at the moment and it's sluggish compared to aosp, but at least it's fully functional for me.
I haven't tried alot of them, but I went with evervolv, I couldn't go back. Even trying cm7 after.

Shiftdeck!!! Nuff said
I like shiftdeck, though I still don't understand what's with the bootlooping on the last couple of releases.
CM7 is the fastest, smoothest for me and I love the nightlies.
Sent from my PG06100 using XDA Premium App
I'm on the stock rooted rom. I loaded the speedy kingdom rom, but was too laggy and too many FCs for me, so I switched back. I'm running the X99 kernel, running at the defaults (1.2 gHz max), and it's running like a champ. I could run it at 1.5, but it runs so good at 1.2, that I didn't feel the need to go higher. Battery life is good too.
cm7 and x99 is working like a champ for me. so far nothing seems out of place, and all my aftermarket applications works fine such as youmail, gvoice, and gmail pushes as well. 2032 on quadrant :O !!!

Have you tried Shift Deck with x99. It runs awesome, even better than the nightlies. My Quadrant went from 3380 to 3900 switching to Shift Deck. All my other benchmarks went up aswell.
I love deck's ROM also, SO fast. The bootloops are because of a new kernel he is trying. Don't worry he'll have it figured out soon enough. Anyways my favorite of all favorites has to be MIUI 1.4.29. I love the UI, it's fast, and by far the best battery life of any ROM I've tried.

Before the release of a stable AOSP ROM, the best battery life for me was AwesomeRom using a 1.8g bfq test kernel. I can't remember who the dev was since its been a while, but I believe it was Bcnice20. The ROM & kernel combo made my phone pretty snappy while also giving me like 14-16 hrs of battery life through heavy use.
On AOSP, my favorite ROM has to be Kush-Deck 1.2t so far. I just flashed Scary's Stable Kernel v2 last night. I have min at 245MHz, max at 1209MHz, and the governor set to "Smartass". I'm hoping those settings will give me the best experience in terms of performance, stability, & battery life.
I had been rawkin' an older version of Deck's ROM with the stock Kernel for a bit but after a while my battery life started going down hill. Before that i had been on different versions of CM7 for a while since RC 1 but battery life was even worse on those.
I've been pretty stoked on Deck so far and think I'll prolly keep rawkin this for a while. Especially since everything seems to be working well for me including GPS, Wi-Fi, 4G, etc.
Sent from my PG06100 using XDA App
I also use deck's rom with the newest x99 kernel. Miui is also nice, but I always find myself flashing back to an aosp rom after a day or so.

Survey roms

who is the best rom for you ?
For that speed , custom interface, options, battery , whatever
I like the good one with the nice battery and the fast kernel.

I was gone for about a month once the entire time just using MIUI, very stable ROM with a great kernel
My daily driver now is MikG though...battery life is ok...but the UI on the lock screen from sense 3.0 is perfect for me.
Running MikG 1.03 here. Seems solid so far, loving the Metal skin and the various sense 3.0 touches. Would be nice to be able to overclock it a bit, but it's not a dealbreaker by any means. I'm fine with waiting for the kernel source and however long it takes people to build an overclockable kernel.
EOD v2 by Mag, using Savage Zen 2.1 cfs kernel has no problem going 24+ hours on a single charge. Everything works flawlessly from camera to gps.

Good roms for battery

Can anyone give me some advice on some good roms with good battery life?
i use my phone mainly for music talking and texting and the ics rom im using now cant even last 2 hours of solid music playing
Any rom ideas? (im not scared to go back to a gb rom)
Sent from my Inspire 4G using Tapatalk
You could give miui a try. I don't know how it will respond to listening to music since I use it differently, but it is the rom that has given me the best battery life without needing to change kernels or any of that. Miui 2.3.7

ARHD
Try Android Revolution 6.3.2, don't go for version 7.x as it slightly consumes more battery.
I nearly tried all ROMs. Best battery life ive seen is ER3BUS XL. Try it with full wipe you wont regret that.

I got the best battery life for an ICS ROM using Ice cold sandwich.
But ARHD 6.3.2 outperforms Ice Cold Sandwich in terms of battery life in my opinion. I didn't like the battery consumption using ARHD 7.0.3

CM 7.2 RC1 with LordModUE 8.9b7 kernel. Best I've ever had on an AOSP ROM. I get the same battery life with AOSP as I do with Sense ROMs like Android Revolution HD, sometimes better. CPU settings are smartassv2 governor with 122-1152 MHz frequency range. There's a ROM called VictoryMod 2.7 which is CM7.2 with the kernel I mentioned and some build.prop tweaks for performance and battery life. It's like an all-in-one ROM without having to flash CM, kernel and add build.prop tweaks yourself.
