Opinions on Roms - Droid Incredible General

What is your favorite Rom and why? I'm currently using virtuous and I like it because of the extended battery life and its just a better stock Rom. Now your turn forum members

incdoes hd desire rom, KK#5.
i always loved sense... thats why i never tried another rom.. then i saw the new sense and fell in love with it. been using it since i think .3

Currently running The New Guy and loving it. It's very smooth. I also ran Uncommon Sense for awhile and loved everything about that ROM, too; it's a toss up which is better IMO. I've tried most ROMs and liked the features of Sense overall better than the AOSP ROMs.

Skyraider 3.3 + IncRevolution = SEXY @$$ PHONE!
(also throw in King Kernel BFS #5 for quickness and battery life)

I use my own roms most of the time with king 5 cfs (for sense) and king 1 cfs (for vanilla) and the colin-ph battery tweak.
This makes for a sexy and stable phone

hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

I'm running Ruby 1.1.1 with Adrynalyne's battery aosp kernel. I'm a big fan of vanilla roms and I like how lightweight Ruby is. I might switch to CM 6.1 when the final release comes out though.

Skyraider 3.3.1 Sense, by far my favorite ROM and I've flashed plenty. It has the key features of the new Sense and has been 100% stable and bug free. I was one of the beta testers and even then it was amazing. I've tried many others and always come back. Kings BFS #5, again for good measure.

I love stock sense 2.2. I use the leaked version.
I have added features which were important to me by studying kernels. I chose hydrakernel undervolted v0.5.
My battery life it's awesome without screwing around with task killers.
Kings kernels sound great too.

Thanks man but i cannot find it anywhere

Ok so i looked it up and it seems like it basically does exactly what i have setcpu already doing. And yes i use set cpu with a kings kernel and it works wonderfully for me.

My favorite by far is Redemptive rEVOlution. Very smooth, haven't had a FC yet, and the battery life is nice. This is with WiFi and Bluetooth on the entire time, and no bump charge with the Seido 1750.

On average id say i probably get around 16-20 hours on my stock battery which works for me and i keep my 3g and gps on at all times

Looking to switch back to Sense

I have been using CyanogenMod for a while now, but I want to give Sense another try. I have a couple quick questions.
- Are there any Sense ROMs that are a fairly decent balance of fast and stable? I can deal with the occasional force close if the ROM is significantly faster than another, but I'd say stability is more of a priority to me.
- I don't particularly like the Sense People and Calendar apps (I've found they're a bit slower than the AOSP apps). Can I just install the AOSP versions without major stability issues? If yes, would the Sense dialer still be able to pull from the AOSP Contacts app?
Thanks in advance.
Edit: I omitted one thing. I'd say that stability is the most important aspect, followed by battery life. I know battery life is mostly determined by the kernel. Can anyone recommend a good Sense kernel as well?
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
I would try WarmZ 2.2 or Incredibly Re-Engineered both of those are sense 2.0 and are stable and fast. I liked both. But it's up to you!
Kernel wise, the kernels they come with worked great for me.
SkyRaider 3.5 w/Lou's #8 - slick....
4.0 is due out very soon.
Nils business z with ziggys latest bfs wo havs kernel is very stable with xcellent battery
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
Z ROMs are nice, and quick, but there's been a spattering of reports on phantom calls and reboots. Hence, I would not say they are fully stable and dependable. There are also some quirks when using some apps (e.g. swype keyboard).
In my experience, you need to stick with 100% incredible framework if you value stability and reliability. I am a huge fan of both IncROM and Magnolia. They are both very fast in my book, and everything works out of the box, so to speak. When SR 4 hits in a few days it may be great as well.
To your question about contacts...
No, you cannot simply install AOSP versions onto a Sense ROM. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
I've never had any issues with swype on z roms or had any random reboots or phantom calls (I'm not even sure exactly what that refers to). I've usually used the warm z nightlies. Guess it just depends on the phone/rom.

yeah, the issue I'm referring to is more of an annoyance. You know, how the Sense copy/paste functions cover up the Swype word choices when you double-click a word to correct it? It's the little things....Still, I am very torn between Z-ROMs and Inc ROMs because I do like many other things about the Z.

I use Swype. I also ask annoyed by that issue with the cut and paste option blocking the word choice/edit on MIUI. I assumed it was part of Gingerbread. Not so?
Edit- pls excuse my blunder. Of course Warm Z is not GB so that answers my question. Then again MIUI is AOSP and also has that.

My strong recommendation would be Magnolia. Options are superb.. battery is splendid... and the developer entertains personal requests.
Best stable and aesthetically pleasing rom for me.

Okay, I'll give Warm Z a shot. I'm using SkyRaider, and while I like the ROM, the battery life is very poor compared to what I was used to with CM7. I'm looking at under two hours of 3g browsing on a charge.
Tried both Chad's kernel as well as Lou's 8, and found similar results.

That's gotta be some kind of mistake. I've had the best battery life on Skyraider. I usually can get near 18 hours or more...

(Q) What's your default rom?best one of all you've tried?

What's everyones default rom?
Best batteryy life?
Mine is mikshift and cm7
best ROM i've had is gingerbread shift deck (which i've been using for the past couple weeks), best battery life i've had was on AwesomeROM or MikShift
I'm really liking Mikshift OC'd to 1.5GHz. MikBrando GSense has an awesome look and feel (guess I'm partial to the Sense eye candy and 2.0 is slick) and it will probably be my daily driver once the kernel source is released and it can be OC'd. BrandoKC's green theme really gives it an "executive" look. On the other hand, Sense ROMs can't touch the performance of AOSP ROMs such as cm7 at equivalent clock speeds, but you pay for it with battery life. That's my two cents.
Sent from my MikShifted Speedy using XDA Premium App
ive been getting the best battery life on cm7. im on nightly 91 and using the stock kernel clocked to 1 ghz and i can easily go a full 2 days with atleast 15 percent left
default is cm7 stable 7.0.3.1 but lately i've been using shift deck and it's cool.
Shift deck is the very best rom imo. I love it and its better than CM7 to me.
Sent From My Speedy Mc Speederson
Miui 1.4.29, amazing speed and 24 hrs plus battery with moderate usage. Ill never go back to sense.... what's the point?
Sent from my MiuiSpeedy
I wish my GPS worked and I also wished my signal was better so that I could fully enjoy CM7. I keep having to go back to a sense rom to "fix" the GPS issue. I'm on Mikshift at the moment and it's sluggish compared to aosp, but at least it's fully functional for me.
I haven't tried alot of them, but I went with evervolv, I couldn't go back. Even trying cm7 after.

Shiftdeck!!! Nuff said
I like shiftdeck, though I still don't understand what's with the bootlooping on the last couple of releases.
CM7 is the fastest, smoothest for me and I love the nightlies.
Sent from my PG06100 using XDA Premium App
I'm on the stock rooted rom. I loaded the speedy kingdom rom, but was too laggy and too many FCs for me, so I switched back. I'm running the X99 kernel, running at the defaults (1.2 gHz max), and it's running like a champ. I could run it at 1.5, but it runs so good at 1.2, that I didn't feel the need to go higher. Battery life is good too.
cm7 and x99 is working like a champ for me. so far nothing seems out of place, and all my aftermarket applications works fine such as youmail, gvoice, and gmail pushes as well. 2032 on quadrant :O !!!

Have you tried Shift Deck with x99. It runs awesome, even better than the nightlies. My Quadrant went from 3380 to 3900 switching to Shift Deck. All my other benchmarks went up aswell.
I love deck's ROM also, SO fast. The bootloops are because of a new kernel he is trying. Don't worry he'll have it figured out soon enough. Anyways my favorite of all favorites has to be MIUI 1.4.29. I love the UI, it's fast, and by far the best battery life of any ROM I've tried.

Before the release of a stable AOSP ROM, the best battery life for me was AwesomeRom using a 1.8g bfq test kernel. I can't remember who the dev was since its been a while, but I believe it was Bcnice20. The ROM & kernel combo made my phone pretty snappy while also giving me like 14-16 hrs of battery life through heavy use.
On AOSP, my favorite ROM has to be Kush-Deck 1.2t so far. I just flashed Scary's Stable Kernel v2 last night. I have min at 245MHz, max at 1209MHz, and the governor set to "Smartass". I'm hoping those settings will give me the best experience in terms of performance, stability, & battery life.
I had been rawkin' an older version of Deck's ROM with the stock Kernel for a bit but after a while my battery life started going down hill. Before that i had been on different versions of CM7 for a while since RC 1 but battery life was even worse on those.
I've been pretty stoked on Deck so far and think I'll prolly keep rawkin this for a while. Especially since everything seems to be working well for me including GPS, Wi-Fi, 4G, etc.
Sent from my PG06100 using XDA App
I also use deck's rom with the newest x99 kernel. Miui is also nice, but I always find myself flashing back to an aosp rom after a day or so.

Survey roms

who is the best rom for you ?
For that speed , custom interface, options, battery , whatever
I like the good one with the nice battery and the fast kernel.
Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk
I was gone for about a month once the entire time just using MIUI, very stable ROM with a great kernel
My daily driver now is MikG though...battery life is ok...but the UI on the lock screen from sense 3.0 is perfect for me.
Running MikG 1.03 here. Seems solid so far, loving the Metal skin and the various sense 3.0 touches. Would be nice to be able to overclock it a bit, but it's not a dealbreaker by any means. I'm fine with waiting for the kernel source and however long it takes people to build an overclockable kernel.
EOD v2 by Mag, using Savage Zen 2.1 cfs kernel has no problem going 24+ hours on a single charge. Everything works flawlessly from camera to gps.

You mean you want a Rom with the stock aosp launcher. I recommend trying virtuous G-Lite. Read the instructions in the OP, for info on how to get the stock launcher.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1076786
G-Lite has the best battery life of any Rom I have ever tested.
And are you aware that you don't need to stick with the launcher that comes with a Rom? You can install which ever is your favourite and uninstall the one that comes included with the Rom.

Stock Rom for sense and virtuous G-Lite for asop
Once again I reccomend meXdroidMod PreGhostChilli. It is a very fast asop build that has waydownsouth's tweaKr script built into it. So as long as you use the included kernel you can set profiles for your processor via tweaKr script that react MUCH faster than any app (like setCPU). You can also undervolt your processor, tweak your i/o, and install the smart cpu script; all of those things will do wonders for battery life. I can squeeze an entire day of HEAVY usage out of my phone, and nearly two days of moderate to light usage (and I have an almost bad battery), just be sure and take the time to properly calibrate your battery after flashing the rom.

Okay, so suppose I wanted a rom exactly like this one any ideas because I live gingerbread yet I'm not a fan of sense

AOSP: Virtuous G-Lite hands down, it's a 2.3.3 version that is very stable. Comes with LauncherPRO and is as stock as you can be. No lag anywhere and can be overclocked as well with the included kernel, though, now i think RMK and team included a script that automatically overclocks up to 1.2GHz for you by default. About 1 day of heavy use on a charge, just less than 2 days of light use on a charge.
Other: MIUI Official English, it's a 2.3.4 version that is incredibly stable with the CRT screen off animation. Alittle weird to use at first, but it's really easy to pick up on. Overclockable to 1.5GHz using CPUTuner or SetCPU. Lasts about 3 days of light use on a charge. About 1.5 days of heavy use on a charge.
You should try Virtours G-lite, best of any ROM I have used. 1 thing is more Free RAM to play ^^

MIUI doesn't have a built in feature to set CPU speeds. But most other CM based roms does have such option built in. Look for something like Performance->CPU in settings. There you can set a CPU governor too

G-light hands down its fast stable gives you the option of choosing kernels before flashing (conservative HTC kernel or full featured kernel capable of 1.4ghz Oc) . As for issues their ain't none I've been using g-light since it came to play . The screen issue must of been a bad flash
