[Q] New on Legends: Rooting Question

I'm a new Legend user, have been waiting for the official 2.2 Froyo but it seems so far away. Want to root and flash the Cynogen 6 ROM, but I dont wanna brick my new phone.
1. Is there a chance to brick my phone using the guide from The Unlockr ?
2. After rooting the phone, do i still have the stock HTC ROM (2.1 Eclair) (Kernel 2.6.xxx) and flash it to which rom i want (i this case Cynogen 6) or do i have the a new custom rom ?
3. Best/easiest or safest way to root ? I've heard that Universal androot 1.6.2 should work on Legend, after some tester has comfirmed it on the unlockr site.
Last thing. Some good tips i should know before rooting or some news on Official froyo release. Please feel free to share it.
Welcome aboard friend.
1) The Unlockr method is not working.
2) Search button
3) Method from MoDaCo. That is a softroot.
Cheers.
P/S : Search button is your friend.
What does it means with "soft root" ? thats why im o confuse thanks for the answer
soft root means its only root in memory , you loose once you power off phone
Ignore/delete

question about HTC desire hd a9191

hi how are you guys...i just bought this phone and have couple of question..first one...my software version is 2.2 is there anyway i can root the phone anybody have the instruction step by step how to root with the files which i needed...second question is when i go software update from my phone its says i have update for 2.3 gingerbread should i update it from phone or manually do it...any help will be appreciate and please reply soon...
thank you
If you are planning to root and go for custom roms etc then do not update with any official firmware. Head over to the Development forum for all you need to know on rooting, s-off, eng-off etc.
can i use visiionary tool to root or not....do i have downgrade from 2.2 to what....and then root
As mentioned above, go to Development and there you will find detailed stepbystep instructions how to downgrade first and than how to root your phone. Do not install automatic upgrade to 2.3 because it will be harder (not impossible) to root your phone (I learned it hard way after making official upgrade, but my phone is rooted and working well)

[Q] Possible to install stock Android and not lose unlocked and rooted condition?

Hi there,
I am a noob who has been following the threads in this forum and I managed to unlock the bootloader and root my Nexus 4.
Now I apologise if the following question has been asked before, but I did not find an answer that I understood.
Let's assume that in a few weeks/months a new version of Android is released. Can I install it without losing the unlocked and rooted condition of my device?
If yes, any easy (for a noob) to follow tutorial?
Thanks very much.

Click to collapse
Next version is probably out later this year, October-November. If you apply the OTA, your bootloader will remain unlocked, but you lose root. You will only be able to root it again, if devs find a way. They usually do, just not necessarily instantly.

[Q] Need Help In rooting Galaxy note 3

Hello ,
I want to root my Galaxy note 3 4G
I have some questions before i root
1 ) can we restore and update after unrooting our device like normally we do
2 ) is kingoapp.com One click rooting Producing good result without affecting knox counter
3) Will it be easy to update through OTA or kies once i am unrooted
I am thinking to root for getting access so some of the root features ...
How can i backup my Stock ROM (ORIGINAL) before getting into this rooting process so i may not do anything wrong , if it goes also
I may able to restore it ..
WIll kingoapp.com rooting Change my serial of affect anything on my mobile ...
I would appreciate your help!
Thanks
I suggest you to read some basics about your note before trying anything. Seems you don't know anything. And no one will learn you everything I this thread alone. You have to have some to get some. Search forums and read some and then ask things you don't know.
I say it not to be rude but to save you more time. Really. If you do something wrong and you don't know that you even did then you will ask many more questions and struggle a lot.
You don't even say anything about your phone. What is version and firmware you are on. Above mj3 you will not be able to root without tripling Knox.
No one uses kingo. CF autoroot is used mostly but triples Knox.
You can flash new firmware with Odin and you can get updates again.
Don't know any method to fully backup without root. You can back up apps with titanium backup.

[Q] Update after rooting

Dear gurus,
I'm new to Galaxy family, I have a small question. Provided that I have root access for S5 and using Stock ROM. Am I still able to OTA/Kies update?
The reason I want to root is to get rid of SamSung bloatwares and use custom kernel.
Thanks
No. You have to download firmware/rom updates then flash them to your phone now.
Using the phone for updates after rooting will cause you to lose all root access and then would just cause more problems. As stated before, you'll have to manually apply them once rooted.
Tks you all, I got it!
