Hi, I was wondering besides me have add issue's with dropped call while your wifi is up?
I constantly get dropped calls with 4 bars reception. I exchanged 3 phones. Will the new OTA update fix that?
Both my wife and I have been having this issue lately with our Vibrants
You are holding it wrong, obviously.

Not just wiring but my vibrant and my wife's vibrant drop Cal's too often. I've had 3 other androids and my wife has had 2 other androids on tmobile and dropped calls has never been an issue. I like the vibrant but its no different than any other android in that there's always some basic function that wont work properly. I know there is no perfect phone but only my less intelligent androids worked properly. G1 and mytouch 3g could perfomr the basics. Not so my nexus or vibrant
Dropped Calls on WindMobile
I heard that there was some sort of app. that would help with the dropped call issue, it that true? I am using a Samsung Galaxy S Vibrant that is rooted and unlocked and was originally a T-Mobile phone. Thanks for any help with this problem.
Is it poor reception?
If so try the "wifi calling app" which comes with teh phone
Maybe the merger with AT&T already stated
I just picked up the Nexus 4 16GB unlocked from Google. Awesome phone and I have it on the TMobile $30 a month (100 min; unlimited data/text). I get pretty good reception everywhere except in my house. Now one window upstairs, if I hold the phone next to it I'm pulling 2 bars in and can make calls.
My question is, what's the best way to boost the signal and which ones are compatible with TMobile and the Nexus 4? I was looking at something like the zBoost SOHO but wasn't sure if it would work or if there were better options.
On regular tmobile phones they have WiFi calling butt he nexus 4 does not soooo my suggestion would be to try to get tmobile to send you a micro cell tower for your house. That way you can get full bars and good data speeds. If they don't want to send you one see if you can buy one on craigslist. That's what my friend did for his att phones. When I was in sprints network they sent me one right away because they knew that their network sucked in my area.

Don't get the one from T-Mobile. It sucks bad. I have had horrible reception and dropped calls with previous phones in my house. T-Mobile must have known I was having dropped calls because I received a text message from them about it saying to call about a free in home booster.
You have to sign a 2 year contract for it again and the thing blows. Numerous times a week I have had to restart both pieces because I could not make or receive any calls in my house even though I had full bars. Once I got my Nexus 4 I unplugged the booster and have not needed it with my N4. I have learnt to switch to 2g at the house and use WiFi for data and have had no issues. Just my 2 cents.

Use Vonage to make outgoing calls, I guess, that might help a bit. It uses your T-Mobile number and it's free, and it uses Wifi, but not sure what to do for the incoming calls and things like that.
So does anyone know which one is compatible or best? Will the zBoost YX545 work with the Nexus 4 on T-Mobile?

I've only had mine a few days, so I don't have a lot of experience with it, but I haven't seen anything like that so far. Voice calls are nice and solid, and I'm getting the same data rates inside the house that I get outside. Also, the effect on my battery life has been significant. I work at home, so I went from spending most of my time with 0-1 bars to spending most of my time with 4 bars. Whereas I was previously ending the day with about 10% battery left, now I'm averaging around 40% left when I plug in at bedtime. I'm quite happy with my signal booster so far.

I too had the $30 TMo plan and was going to get a booster but after reading all the reviews I could find I decided to just go with ST AT&T instead and save myself the $200 for the booster. TMo had horrible reception inside every builbing I'd been in. As far as the boosters go the more you pay the better off you are, teh cheap ones don't seem to work. But If you read the reviews carefully it's still about a 50/50 ratio of people who actually got one to work and all of them had to install the antenna on the roof of their house and you need at least 2-3 bars to begin with. As far as the cell fi systems from TMo go they seem to work best but thet are only for 2 year subscribers and not pay as you go plans. You can find one on-line for aroung $500.

I have had the Cel-fi from Tmo since I got the Sensation a couple of years back. Just a FYI, you can buy the same setup on ebay as well if you don't want to be tied to a contract. I did it because I just got the Sensation as an upgrade in tmo and then within a week, got the tmo cel-fi system for free with the contract extension.

Just as a follow-up to my earlier reply to this: after another couple of weeks, I have still not had any problems like this with my booster. I haven't had to reboot either unit, and everything is working fine.
I hope yours doesn't but mine started having issues after a few months not few weeks of use. 2 of the same issues I have had with mine others are experiencing too. I am sending mine back but not wanting one returned. Good luck!

Called T-Mobile about one of these a few days ago and was told they're out of stock until mid-summer.
Question, do you guys base your signal quality on the signal bars?
Supposedly tmo doesn't need to show as many bars or as high a signal to get call service and better voice quality than most other networks.
Straight Talk throttles, although AT&T service is pretty good.
I was hoping tmobile and it's refarming to 1900 had made some improvements.
Signal booster requires you to have wifi. It's an ok solution if you have wifi in your house, work or where ever you intend to apply the signal booster. But useless if you're moving around and getting crappy service/ signal.
If I'm within wifi access I'm probably not needing to use data on my phone anyways. But are you able to get cell service at least or is that lacking still would be my concern.

Who told you the signal booster requires WiFi? Mine doesn't and that was part of a requirement on my end to get it. T-Mobile told me that if I had WiFi at my house and my phone supported WiFi calling T-Mobile would not give me a booster.

No need for Wi-Fi for the celfi to work. I got a celfi off eBay, to tide me over until some one gets Wi-Fi calling working.
The Cell fi works great with nexus 4.
Just adding my two cents as I have virtually no service in my house.

Thanks for the "information". I see that it's not like Sprint's "signal booster" which requires a broadband connection.

Just curious what steps are required to get it set up after getting one from ebay or cl?
I've used a signal booster supplied free by T-Mobile for 2-3 years. Works fine, I never have to touch it or give it a thought.

Does anyone have a problem with their signal strength....mine will show 4g in an LTE area....it will switch back and forth from LTE to 4g constantly...sometimes the signal strength would be so low, that web pages wont even open for a min or two....I am using a sim adapter to use my sim card from my iphone 5, instead of using the new sim....I switch back and forth between my iphone and note, so I don't want to use another sim...does that cause problems?
Are you in Australia?

Mine is rubbish
Well the actual signal strength is fine when its working, but it has real trouble re-connecting to my network (3, UK) after going out of range.
It sits on the 'emergency calls only' mode for ages, and requires a reboot, after which it immediately connects to my correct network.
Its made slightly better by manually selecting '3' as the network operator, but I have to reboot several times a day to keep connected.
Im planning on going to Car Phone Warehouse tomorrow for a chat about it...
George
ripnetuk: Just as a suggestion:
My NexusS tends to not to reestablish the data connection after a weak signal period. I can fix that by switching to airplane mode and back. (Rebooting takes ages with that phone).
Hi,
Id established that sometimes putting airplane mode on and off fixes it, but it often didnt. A reboot /always/ reconnected to the three network.
I took it back today, and Carphonewarehouse swapped it for a new unit, no questions asked, so im gonna give it a go for a while before thinking its fixed.
I did get my highest ever speed test result with the new phone tho - over 15 megs... ive never seen over 12 before, so hopefully its got a good antenna on it
g
Swapped for another unit and it's all working properly now so it was a lemon device causing it..
Phew!

I compared reception and signal between my Note 3 and HTC ONE in Hong Kong. I found that the HTC ONE and the older LTE Model of the Note 2 got better reception/signal when compared to my new Samsung Note 3
How long did you have your phone before you changed it for a new one?
I am having the same problem as well, also having camera troubles as well... Sounds like I have a lemon as well..

Anyone else having these issues? I've noticed that places I always had at least 1-2 bars with my note 2 I will not have any service with my note 3. Also I have been dropping calls in areas that I never did. Could this be my new sim card or should I exchange my phone? I also feel that my wifi connection stability/range is slightly worse than before.
Mine is the same way, don't get the signal my note 2 would and 4G is weaker also .

I hope this is just a first software or sim issue. Or at the very worst a first production run issue. I will likely be bringing mine to Verizon this weekend to test and new sim or exchange if that doesn't make any difference. Annoying.
Idk how much it will help you but I noticed I was in 3G a lot of the time as well. Definitely more than my N2, I switched my preferred network to LTE/CDMA instead of Global and I now have 4GLTE way more. As far as the wifi and phone reception, I myself haven't noticed any huge difference but I did read the international version of the N3 already received 2 updates and they supposedly not only improved the wifi and antenna signals but also battery life. Who knows when we'll see an update though. We are on Verizon.

Tried that and it actually made my signal significantly worse. I switched back to global and my problem seems way worse tonight than any day this week. Can barely hold onto a signal in places that I never had an issue before. Battery pull didn't help at all. I constantly get a message that says I can't send messages and then asks me to retry. Frustrating, will be going to Verizon tomorrow or Friday to return/exchange
Just now noticing this
I wonder if this has anything to do with being rooted? it seems like I just started dropping calls like crazy just today. I do remember getting the sent error on some text messages, though I can't remember if that started befor or after rooting.
Haven't had a single issue with signal or dropping calls. Also my 4G speeds are pretty insane. I'm thinking there are some units with defective radios.
Coming from a Motorola RAZR, I had LTE and 4G in a lot more locations than the Note3 is getting. Sometimes I even lose signal completely while it's switching towers. My RAZR never had this issue.
Is the antenna just weaker in the Samsungs?

That's disappointing to hear. I love this phone but if it can't do basic things that i'm accustomed to, it's frustrating. what good is it if i'm in 1x or 3G when my 2 year old RAZR was 4G in the same locations.

Had a Razr Maxx about 8 months ago, beginning to miss that part too. Can't use wifi because of the unsolvable multicast packet wakelock/drain. In buildings where I used to get 2 bars 4G with the Note 2 its now either 2 bars 3G or 1 bar 1X if I hold the phone at the bottom (where I think the radios might be). Needless to say I pay attention during the entire class period now.
Does anyone know of a good app to refresh the network. I used to use fresh network on my rezound but it force closes on my note 3.

Living on the edge of 3G coverage...when I say edge I mean 5 ft behind my house I would drop signal on most phones. 2 bars and no dropped calls or failed to send texts I would get with the old S4. So im getting great reception.
I spend time in a remote part of north Idaho. I get 1 bar of signal, no 4G, and limited 3G (instead of 1G) when I am lucky. I previously have chosen Moto phones because of the weak signal in that area. I bought a Note 3 fully prepared to return the phone in my 14 day window and swap for the Droid Maxx if necessary. I have been pleasantly surprised with the quality of the radio reception. It is on par with my previous Droid Razr. I have no complaints.
I've noticed my N3 gets poor or no 4g reception where my Note 2 got great 4G. I also noticed it would be on 3g when I know there's 4g in the area I'm in (e.g. highway), and I also found that if I disconnected data manually or made a call and disconnected (which also disconnects 3g), sometimes it would find and connect to 4G.
I hope this gets fixed in a radio update

Signal strength horrible
Just bought a note 3 coming from a droid Bionic and original droid before that. The signal in my building is not great but my Bionic rarely had a problem with 4g. The note 3 is dropping to 3g and I have even seen 1x (haven't seen that in years). Data doesn't work half the time at work and that is an issue. Since I haven't had a Samsung before does anyone think this will be fixed? I did the update yesterday and was hoping that was this fix but nope. I was tossed between the note 3 and the droid maxx( for battery life). I still have a week to switch (for a fee of course) but the phone is awesome. However I can't live with bad reception. Does anyone have a comparison with the droid maxx for reception?
Thanks for the help.
