My connect Is not it encrypted. (open).
protocol is G.
system is WIN7.
broadcasting the ssid AD HOC.

Help
I have the same problem..I've been trying to search for this for a couple of weeks now. I use to have achotan's rom and that worked with ad hoc but now I have EWJet's and that doesn't have ad hoc capabilities.

For enabling the ad-hoc on X10
1. Power on the ad-hoc connection on other device or mobile.
2. Switch on the wifi in X10 and click "Add Wi-Fi Network".
3. Enter the SSID of the ad-hoc network or any key it have.
4. Disable the wi-fi in X10.
5. Now using Root Explorer navigate to /data/misc/wifi/
6. Long press on wpa_supplicant.conf and select "Open in Text Editor".
7. Add "ap_scan=2" in 3rd or 4th line of the file.
8. Add "priority=1" and "mode=1" in your ad-hoc network list details.
9. Save the file.
10. Enable the wifi on your X10 and now the ad-hoc connection will connect with X10.
Hope it helps.

Or use Connectify on Windows 7.

How to connect HD2 to Internet through Laptop (Vista Home Premium) via Wireless?

Hi guys.
Actually i have ADSL 2+ Internet connection which i can use it through USB cable on my laptop; I don't have any WI-FI access point to use on my Leo...
infact, I have already connected my Leo to my Laptop through Wireless (LAN) in the way I'll explain; but there is still no Internet connection on my Leo.
Is there any useful application i can use? (post names and download links please.)
I'll explain what i did step by step here:
What I did on Laptop (Vista Home Premium OS): {AT FIRST}
1.opened control panel
2. opened network and sharing center
3. Clicked on set up a connection or network
4. Clicked on set up a wireless ad hoc (computer-to-computer) Network
5. Clicked next
6. then clicked next again
7. changed this page like this:
Network name: salar
Security type: No authentication (open)
8. And Windows said you connection installed successfully (if your wireless is not on this window will say "windows can't setup this...)
What I did on my HD2:
1. installed WIFI Remote Access 1.7r4b From Microsoft Market Place (I used this program just to access original windows wireless settings, just this, not HTC Sense menu for Wi-Fi settings)
2. Opened it and clicked on Configure WIFI
3. Turned Wi-Fi on
4. Clicked on menu and then clicked on Wi-Fi settings. (actually I opened the main Wi-Fi settings with this program as i said)
5. in wireless i did these: Changed "network access to" to 'all available" instead of "only access points"
6. and then i clicked on network adapters then then changed "my network card connects to" "the Internet" instead of "work"
7. then changed i selected my modem driver which connects my laptop to Internet and i installed it on my own laptop to use Internet "SMSC91C111 Ethernet Driver"
8. on the new window i selected "Use server assigned IP address" in the tab "IP address"; and I did nothing in the tab "NAME SERVERS" because I don't know anything about "DHCP" or "DNS" or "Alt WINS" or other lines in this tab...[WHERE I THINK THE PROBLEM IS THERE]
9. I selected "Wireless" Tab again and clicked on "salar" then clicked on next 3 times and saw the "connected" message in front of "salar" (the name of connection)
I have to say that the icon had a blue circle which i think shows that the connection we want to connect has Internet...
What I did on Laptop (Vista Home Premium OS): {FOR THE SECOND TIME}
1. Opened "connect to a network" from the same direction.
2 Clicked "status" on the connection name "salar".
3. Clicked on "properties".
4. a new window opened; i selected second tab "share"
5. I marked two sentences which were allowing users to use laptop Internet.
Finally I could not do what I wanted !!!
There has to be a way because we can share Internet between 2 laptops, why not between a laptop and a LEO: HD2 ???
Please post anything you know...
on the laptop, when you have set up the wifi network you may need to bridge it to your LAN network, then on the hd2 you shouldnt need any of that remote access stuff (??) or configuring network adapters, just turn on wifi and find the network. The hard work is on the laptop, and that 'should' involve nothing more than right clicking and choosing bridge. (I dont have my laptop handy to give you exact instructions, sorry)
alternatively, when you were setting up the ad hoc, you did tick 'internet connection sharing', right?
edit - actually have a read here, take note of teh 'one more thing' bit at the end.
http://tnerd.com/2007/07/25/how-to-convert-laptop-wireless-wifi-hotspot/
actually there is nothing to click for 7th step "Click Internet connection sharing", but if we click (right click) on the name of connection after setting up, click on status, then properties, in the new window, on the 2nd tab("share") we can mark Internet Sharing... (I've done this before)
but i think hd2 can't find the gateway to Internet...
Is there any application with easy way to share Internet I can use?

Wifi Internet Problem

Hello guys.
Im having a problem regarding my SGSII connected on the internet via ad hoc.
My phone picks up the ad hoc connection and is able to connect to it. I am able to browse my folders via wifi file explorer but when I try use the browser on my phone nothing loads.
Things I have noticed is the Wireless network connection's IP address is not the same as my internet connection's ip address. I selected the "obtain ip address automatically option"
Internet sharing is turned on.
My internet connection is through a HSPA USB stick.
I have installed Lite'ning Rom 6.1 and the wpa_supplicant to enable my phone pick up an ad hoc network.

A Nice Method for Kindle Fire connecting to Ad-Hoc WiFi from Laptop

There's no developer published wpa_supplicant replacement for Kindle Fire's system/bin/wpa_supplicant till now.
So I find ZT-180 Adhoc Switcher.apk is so well to switch Kindle Fire to support Ad-hoc WiFi.
download link:
ZT-180 Adhoc Switcher.apk(174.35K)

A lot of ways to setuo WiFi hotspot with laptop, but Bzeek is the most useful one and it supports both Win XP and Vista.
Bzeek(supports XP & Win7)
http://www.bzeek.com/static/index.html
download:
http://www.bzeek.com/static/bzeekPlugin/bzeekPlugin-setup.exe
I met a problem with Bzeek as well as lots of guys met that after restart the Windows, Bzeek is alway Off instead of On, even you can't turn it On.
So I check google and found that
Personal Hotspot Status
Your Personal Hotspot is Off
Some of the Bzeek settings are not yet in effect. Please restart your computer for the Bzeek settings to take effect. If the problem persists, please contact Bzeek for support.

Admin reply:
Maybe the Bzeek service is not running for some reason on your machine.
If it is not solved after boot you can run services.msc and make sure the bzeek service is running.

It's a BUG for Bzeek due to their lack of maintance?
So manually if you like, you should go to
Start > Run > services.msc
Open Windows System Services
Get Bzeek Service and make it START
For easy use I build .bat file to TURN ON or TURN OFF Bzeek Free WiFi service effeciently. You can download them here
BzeekTurnOn.bat(18B)
http://dl.dbank.com/c04pwaal9s
BzeekTurnOff.bat(18B)
http://dl.dbank.com/c04pwaal9s
included scripts are simple so you can build your own:
net start bzeeksvc
Click to collapse
for START
net stop bzeeksvc
Click to collapse
for STOP
Install ZT-180 Adhoc Switcher.apk
Before running it you'd better ROOT your Kindle Fire for higher user ability.
Run ZT-180 Adhoc Switcher
You should see Switch to Infrastructure mode / Switch to Ad-hoc mode button.
Click Switch to Infrastructure mode and it turns to Switch to Ad-hoc mode then you can click Settings button to set SSID and WEP password if possible.
I put into Bzeek Free WiFi as SSID as I'm using Bzeek and WEP is not selected for Bzeek. If you use other name and with WEP, just do your way.
Now the button display Switch to Ad-hoc mode, just click it and turn it to
Ad-hoc Mode, click Enable WiFi button and it will connect to Bzeek Free WiFi rapidly
Then it will ask you put in your Bzeek username and password, finally you can share the internet with WiFi Ad-Hoc from your laptop happily!
I post this method to a Chinese forum and you can check screenshot images and download links there better.

Succeeded to connect to an Ad-hoc, thx for your method. XD
The method can be shorten as below
1. Go find ZT-180 Adhoc Switcher.apk , just google it, there will be several links.
2. Install the apk on a rooted KF.
3. Open it, tap settings before switch to Ad-hoc Mode
4. Input the SSID of the Ad-hoc WIFI you want to connect to. Also fill WEP (if needed) area.
5. Switch to Ad-hoc Mode. Wait a minute and you'll find your KF is connected to the Ad-hoc specified above.
There will be a "x" on KF's WIFI mark, but it doesn't matter, the ad-hoc link is working.
I tested connecting to my PSP, iPhone, Laptop(win7, ad-hoc wizard provided by OS), so I think it support all kind of Ad-hoc. Did a ping test to iPhone and Laptop for confirming. Ping works, so I think it should work fine.
P.S.
Seems it has no thing to do with Bzeek. Just use any ad-hoc.
Sure, actually Bzeek is a solution for my LAN in LAN network to share the internet service.
Any Ad-Hoc is supported!
iphone, PSP, Laptop ...
Worked nicely! Got it to work, but now I cannot get back into "Infrastructure Mode".
I even went as far as doing a device reset through the device settings. Now I can't even register my device. ---Tread with caution---
Wouldn't recomend "zt-180 ad hoc switcher" on the Kindle fire.
EDIT: STRIKE THE ABOVE COMMENT. Stupid me, spent hours looking at file permissions etc, and even did a unroot and reset. My problem? For some reason my KF was the only hardware not connecting to my router. A router reboot fixed it. KF found and connected instantly after rebooting the router.
for me it works perfect - if somthing goes wrong look for the wpa_supplicant.conf in /data/misc/wifi. delete all entries except the first two.
they should be:
ctrl_interface=tiwlan0
update_config=1
save the file and turn on wifi
can someone provide me the original wpa_supplicant
can someone provide me the original wpa_supplicant , I overwrited that file last night and the system restarts repeatedly when opening applications.
the original wpa_supplicant from system\bin ...
Is there an app which can scan for unencrpyted ad-hoc connections ? Thanks
look for 'Wifi Analyzer' on the market
Damn... I tried this. Couldn't install ZT-180 at first as it was missing something so I needed to install busybox (had to use the "busybox installer" app from the market as the "busybox" app didn't work).
Got ZT-180 working and tried sharing my PC's VPN ethernet connection over adhoc... but it keeps dropping out. Is there a problem with sharing VPN connections over adhoc networks, I had this problem with connectify.me too.
I really really need VPN on the Fire as I can't seem to get it sharing from my PC...
For CM7, I've successfully let my kindle fire connect my WiFi hotspot of my android mobile through ZT-180 Adhoc Switcher.apk.
I've tried several versions of CM9, seems no current versions could find/connect ad-hoc WIFI, ever using ZT-180 Adhoc Switcher.
Anyone got the same situation? or get any solution? thank
I tried this application ad hoc mode in my rooted kindle. I started my barnacle wifi tether using my sony ericcson w8......kindle could not see the broadcasted ssid. Why? Pls advise.
if you use zt-180 adhoc switcher then you have to configure the options
enter your ssid & configure your security

help!about ad-hoc
To use the Notebook to share the WIFI is always useful, especially when you don't have a Wireless router.
The WIFI shared by computer is AD-HOC mod,and the KF can't find it.I have tried many methods to solve it but not work.Even use the software-ZT-180 ADHOC switcher, the KF can connect to the WIFI,but still can't surf the internet.
Now my KF is using the 6.3 version.
Who knows the method for it please help me.Thinks a lot!
i'm using connectify on the laptop - just google for it
without it i had the same issue ...

Great solution. It works for Samsung Galaxy S3 non rooted.
Windows 7 standard ad hoc connection doesn't work with normal android wifi driver.
10x
Alternatively you can install MaryFi for a clean GUI and follow the instructions with how to set it up here: http://www.maryfi.com/support.php
it worked!
awesome worked like charm.....ty
thank's work for me

With both methods I cannot connect with my Galaxy S4. It says 'Network disabled because Ineternet Connection is slow'. And my connection is 1Mbps rock solid :S
thanx, was looking for this long time ago :good:
Getting ad-hoc with no root
So can anyone direct me to a thread to actually do ad-hoc on the Galaxy S3 or is this not possible. Trying to connect to a camera not a computer. Camera needs to connect directly to the phone while I'm mobile. Connecting either to an access point defeats the purpose.

Sharing your WiFi Connection in 5 Steps

Guys,
I was trying to connect my Arc to my laptop wifi after sharing the internet connection from the wireless ad-hock network creation wizard but I couldn't find the network in the wireless list on my device.
so If you don't have a WiFi router, but your PC is WiFi enabled, you can use Virtual WiFi Router to allow other WiFi devices to use your connection.
I made some search and I got that application (Attached to the thread)
(Credits goes to conigent.com)
WiFi connection on a SSID, network identifier, that you designate. I choose travelsystem, as this is easily identifiable on my phone. Once you choose your WiFi connection in the Share Connection drop down menu, press Start Virtual Router.
Be sure to run this as an administrator on Windows 7 and enter a password of at least 8 characters. This utility provides wireless security using WPA2 encryption, so rest assured your data is safe.
5 easy steps:
Download the virtual router utility.
Enter in your network name.
Enter in a password of at least 8 characters.
Select your shared connection and start the virtual route.
Connection from your phone or other wi-fi device.
So next time you are traveling, go to your WiFi device, follow these simple steps, and connect to the network that you choose and enter your password. You will see your devices and their assigned IP addresses. You’ll see they all can use the same personal or commercial WiFi connection, without having to pay for it twice.
