Just wanting to let you know that there is more than likely a Gingerbread (Android 2.3.3) firmware update for your phone.
If interested then there is more information in this thread:

thx Guys ,,
i tried SGS unlock from market but it shows unlock code as : null !!!
also i tried manually search and edit nv_data.bin but i ddnt find it and find bml3.bak
(as other methods says) also tried to search it for SSNV but no success!!
whats is the guranteed methid even if it possible to get back to 2.1 !!
please help me
note: (phone doesnt ask for code when i insert another SIM !!)
Buy the SGS Unlocker from market author Degantboy or something like that.. the paid version 100% works on my phone.... it use to show me unlock code on 2.1 but not 2.2+ but still unlocks my phone.
Run the unlock procedure, reboot phone, shut phone off, place in new sim card, power up phone, if the phone isn't unlocked re-run app with new SIM card and reboot, voila should fix your problem.
Your phone needs to be rooted. and the free versions don't work for me.
you can always just buy the unlock code to unlock the sim restriction.
http://unlockcellphonecode.com/code-for-unlocking-samsung-cell-phone
worked for me.
While we're on this topic, I used one of the free apps back when I had 2.1 to get the unlock code.
I've never used it, but I have the code saved. Now that I have updated to 2.2 and then 2.3, would the code still work?
Hmm another factor is that I must have done that before I had the phone repaired (as the repaired one came back with 2.2). I wonder if whatever board they replaced will have a different unlock code? I guess it might be based on the IMEI? Not sure if that changed or not...
Nv data hex edit. Change a 1 to 0, and permanent unlock. search for instructions, they are on this forum and search really isn't that hard to use.

Guys, once the Bell SGS is unlocked, which networks can it run on? I'm specifically interested in Wind. Can it run on AWS/1700?
Sorry for the slight hi-jack but I can't find accurate info anywhere.

You must get confused by the T-mobile Vibrant when searching for information. The Bell SGS does not have band 1700, as such, it will not work on Wind. The T-Mobile Samsung Vibrant includes 1700 but does not have band 850/1900.
I used superoneclick to root then purchased SGS Unlock Pro. When I upgraded to GB via Kies, the unlock remained. I had used the app that got the unlock code but when I re-locked my device, the code stopped working.
found that the free version of SGS Unlocker
(Samsung Galaxy S Unlock Tool DaGentooBoy)
and Galaxy S Unlock (by Helroz) don't unlock the i9000m running android 2.3.3
(superoneclick was used for rooting)
sorry couldn't post links

I have used Galaxy S Unlock by Helroz, however in order for it to work, you may have to install/upgrade busybox.
I found the easiest way to do this was to superoneclick, then install titanium backup and make sure it has root access. Then upgrade busybox from within. Then you can use the Galaxy S Unlock to unlock.
i did this on my newer phone, and also on my family member's Galaxy S2 from Bell.
altering nv_data.bin might end in total imei lose if you corrupt it
and please do not pay or purchase full apps to unlock your device !!!!

I also have a Canadian Bell GS2 with CM9, root, busybox... I'm trying to put a Rogers sim card in it.
I have tried both the Galaxy S Unlock as well as the Galaxy unlock app from Herloz unsuccessfully...
I have tried to run the unlock code generator by feeding it the nv_data.bin, but my GPU is not supported, and I'm not exactly keen on messing up my EFS files.
I was wondering if you guys had any suggestions for me?
Perhaps I could have you guys run the tool with the attached nv_data.bin?
Much appreciated.

Hi, I started off like you - tried many different methods on XDA and elsewhere - even hair pulling.
Firstly network 'unlocking' doesn't require 'root' access. Telstra will supply an 'unlock code' for free if your phone is over 2 years old. (Otherwise they may charge you to break contract) You give them IMEI number of your phone - they can give you code.
To open your Network Unlock screen – dial > #7465625*638*# on your handset and enter 'unlock code'.
I don't know if 'root' requires that handset is ' network unlocked'.
Anyway . .
Then I found this post - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1927769 - and by adopting method "3-Just(only)root:", and downloading the corresponding attached file - " 3-KERUK_Samsung_Root-only_signed.7z " I finally was successful in rooting my SGY GT S5360T (after weeks of frustration).
All credit and thanks to -CALIBAN666- for supplying the solution.
Incidently - my reason for attempting root was to try to properly unlock my phone to operate on Optus 3G (umts 900 MHz).
Although phone is network unlocked (unlock code supplied by Telstra), and the phone specs say it's 3G 900Mhz compatible, it is still not able to operate on that signal. I'm flummoxed. Would like to know, if you get your root, can your phone (S5360T) go 3G 900 MHz.
I suspect Telstra's firmware is holding out on me.
Good luck with it, hope this helps, and send thanks to -CALIBAN666-.
Hi its been awhile since i owned a sammy (galaxys2) and ive an opportunity to buy a galaxy s4 really cheap but its locked to another network so i want to no if flashing an unbranded stock firmware removes the sim lock because i forget?
Or if not is there anyway or any of the s3 unlocking apps on the play store work
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2
Unfortunately changing firmware version does not affect SimLock.
It is stored - as far as i know - along with the IMEI somewhere inside /efs folder on system partition and it is encrypted.
So there is no easy way to unlock the phone for another carrier until some clever developer will work it out.
Unless you have a way to obtain network unlock code from somewhere.
I wouldn't try unlocking apps as they can completely destroy your /efs folder in not designed especially for SGS4
The only thing you'll need will be a sim unlock code which can sometimes be found by using an app (if you're rooted), I unlocked my Samsung Galaxy Ace GT-S5830 with the Galaxy Ace Unlock by Helroz from the Market, so chances are that you'll soon be able to find a similar app that will provide you with the sim unlock code.
Hey guys,
Looking for some advice....got my S4 on Orange UK (was assured it was unlocked but alas it is not) requested an unlock code...didn't work. Requested software to unlock through cable said it was successful and it also produced the same code as I was sent initially but still locked and asking for a code?
Anyone came across this before? Is there a way round it? Do I perhaps have a faulty handset with corrupt software?
It is stock and literally just turned on to unlock it so no installs etc
Thanks,
Kelly
I wouldn't know how this work with the codes provided by carrier, but apperantly you can sim unlock your S4 phone using this procedure: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2014982, that's according to the OP post from rooting tutorial: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2255190. Haven't tried it myself.

Hi Guy,
I need some help Sim unlocking my new Samsung Galaxy s5 european edition (SM-G900F). I assumed it would be a similar process to sim unlocking my S3 but i cant find anything which works. I am currently locked to EE and i need it to work with Vodafone.
The only xda thread for it i can find is http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2717361 but the first step doesnt even work to get into debug service menu via the dialer.
Do any of the old sim unlocker apps still work after people have testest like voodoo sim unlock http://project-voodoo.org/android-apps ?
Could some one help me get my phone sim unlocked ?
note. i still havent rooted the phone as i have read that it needs to be stock for the sim unlock process to work.
Cheers guys

Since you have not rooted, there is no way to launch the secret codes.
If you have rooted, you can use my app Phone INFO ★Samsung★ --> enter the menu 'Secret Codes' to launch the secret codes.

You didn't search very hard as there are literally dozens, if not hundreds of S5 SIM unlock threads. In short, there is no known free method. The old methods for the S3/S4 do not work on the S5. You can read more here which is just one of many threads on the subject.
You will have to pay a third party vendor (Ebay, et al) to unlock your SIM if your carrier won't provide you with an unlock code. And as you might expect, most carriers will not.

You have to purchase it (online), or it you don't want to pay you can request it from Samsung by following this guide (if you are lucky)
cheers guys,
do you guys know of the best and cheapest unlocking website for the UK ?
samsung sm-g900f unlock with cert free
here try this its work for me
you can also use the srs server at http://www.unlocksamsungonline.nl/unlock-samsung-SM-G900F
it can do sim and region unlock for SM-G900F without root and without trigger the KNOX security
I really dont get it. If any website could create this codes, why is there no option for us to do it by ourselfs. Every phone shop can do this and I bet they dont all ask Samsung for the codes. So HOW do they do it? What software or generator do they use and why dont we use it too?

good Point, funny how none of the experts here either cant or wont answer the same question!.
So i was given an Galaxy S4 and I need to have the SIm unlocked. They have requested the Code from att for me but at this time I am without a phone and really need this running.
I have searched and tried all known methods but they seem to be for previous releases.
This Phone is running 5.0.1 and I was able to get in the service menu however there is no option 3 and what not.
What are the current options for me?
As far as I know, you'll have to wait for the code as the rom cannot be downgraded to use the free method.
