I had 4.9GB and then I had installed CM7 Nighties 161 and now i have 596kb and i have checked my SD card and there is nothing on there but it is appearing empty now i have installed CM7

i think your SD card is corrupt when flash cyanogen
your phone wont detect your sd card,
format it on your computer through card reader
My phone does detect the SD card as all my files show up but its just the memory which has dissapeared.

So I want to format my sd card because I have a 16gig sd and put all my apps on the phone and its still half gone. I have no music on the sd. My question is, if I format/erase the sd card will it screw up my rom managment? Also in my root exsplorer there are files I am unsure wut they are. Any thoughts?

format your micro SD card in another phone or one of the market apps or try a did card. Fat 32

troubleshoot
Use a different microSD card - does issue still happen? If so, it's probably not the MicroSD card. If not - problem solved, the card is the issue.
Does the other sd have to be inserted permanently or can it just be inserted for flashing only?
also if I format the sd card on CWM is it formating the internal card? or the external card???

You can use it for flashing a rom image only, no need to keep it in the system after applying a update/rom to the a500.
You can also flash a rom from USB key if you have one (FAT32 is a must).

Are you using the mount option in CWM? If so, that's for mounting the SD card on to a connected PC as a disk drive...
If not, and no external SD cards are working for you, you can also use a USB memory stick as mentioned above.
I used another sd card all is well now, last question didnt get an answer for,
In CWM does formating sd card mean formating external or internal sd?

i have a huge problem with my sd card. Currently i have Dorimanxs latest GB (lite version) installed and the rom itself
works how it should, but if i reboot the SD Card gets damaged, a lot of apps are missing and there are a lot of files with crazy names.
I tried to format the Sd card and i think it will be the same next time.
Any idea?

Had similiar issue. Test your card by putting in sd card reader connected with pc and run chkdsk command in command prompt in windows.
If doesn't help, download aplication for win called sd formatter and make full format of sd card.
Your problem could be related with some kind of app2sd script IF its in use with your rom or which was also my case your sd card is at end of life span.

I doesnt have a sd card reader but i formated my sd with a HTC One V from my Sister and it worked. thx for answer.

SD card blank or has unspoorted file system
but the SD card can detect by computer
so is my phone SD card slot broken?

I was moving files from internal memory to micro SD card, the moving failed and I suddenly lost browsing the SD card. Tried accessing via computer and phone after reboot, it is asking to format.
Any suggestions on how to recover the partition?
