Could someone please use Astro file manager and go into their system/app/ directory and copy the FriendStream.apk and com.htc.FriendStreamWidget.apk and send them to my e-mail? ([email protected])
I am in the process of trying to port this program to the Droid Eris and The hardware seems to be the most similar, so I thought I would ask here. If anyone could do this for me, I would greatly appreciate it, as many of the Eris users have been trying to get this working on their phones with out flashing a custom rom.

I would love this for my g2 but the downloads for it in this thread won't work. I'm running 2.2 on a rooted phone using (VISIONary) to give me root access. Any help to get it to work will be greatly welcomed

are you running an htc sense rom, or is it an aosp build? the htc widgets and apks only work with sense roms.

I downloaded the apk to my stock rooted Rom to replace the one I accidentally deleted but when I try to install it, it tells me application was not installed. And ideas?

me too
Try to use root explorer copy the apk file into your /system/app
change the permission to rw-r-r
change the owner to root.root
Reboot the phone see if it work, else you may need to do a phone factory reset to take effect.
Not sure if your rom is deodex else you will need the FriendStream.odex and com.htc.FriendStreamWidget.odex which is tie to the rom version.

i cant find it no matter how hard i look. i need the stock samsung blue keyboard that comes on stock dk28 2.2
the rom im using doesnt have it included and the stock android keyboard looks bad....even the name of the apk will help so i can find it myself but a link would be best.. thanks!

Drop it into the system/app directory and edit the permissions of the apk to match the permissions of the other apk's in that directory. Then reboot.

I have found the perfect keyboard with user dictionary that works. It's an LG one but more spaced than the stock keypad one fishears offered. And the fact this one will operate a user dictionary is a massive plus.

What I did was back up the ROM keyboard first using Titanium. I then installed the keyboard fishears put on the previous page. (This may or may not be a vital step) Then remove the keyboard by uninstalling Through Titanium. Reboot. Put above AIME.APK file in the system > apps folder using Root Explorer and install from there with the R/W option at the top showing R/O. Set back to R/W when finished then test to see if it works. If not, try a reboot.[/CODE]

I found a solution for this but the phone needs to be rooted and you have to create a few files manually.
Let me know if you are willing to do so.

Sorry for taking so long to answer the post.
The solution to the diccionary problem is this:
- Using root explorer go to /data and create a folder named "xt9" (the route should be like this: /data/xt9/ )
- Then inside "xt9" folder you'll need to create 2 files: "asdb.bin" and "udb.bin" and give full permissions to both of them (rwxrwxrwx).
- Reboot and now you should have fully working dictionary o your LG IME.

download this file, put the .img file into image/ directory(replace the original boot.img, you should rename the file and then copy, overwrite). then power on the device. it worked for me at least
to mount the image/ directory to windows PC, go to the purple screen and plug it to PC's usb port.
Has this rom all languages? Also, if it's an official rom, why do you need to root it? Doesnt it install like all other official ROM's?

Maybe these are the files u deleted,

i wont update untill dere is a official stable rom..anyways after rooting which software shud be used 2 backup system app plus which app can be removed
Ok. Let me tell you something. I was also having the same feeling like you before. Here in this beautiful community there are more stable ROMS available than official LG GB.
You can remove some unwanted LG apps like AppAdvisor for example. If your phone is rooted, you can use Titanium Backup app, downloadable from the market.
