Could someone please use Astro file manager and go into their system/app/ directory and copy the FriendStream.apk and com.htc.FriendStreamWidget.apk and send them to my e-mail? ([email protected])
I am in the process of trying to port this program to the Droid Eris and The hardware seems to be the most similar, so I thought I would ask here. If anyone could do this for me, I would greatly appreciate it, as many of the Eris users have been trying to get this working on their phones with out flashing a custom rom.

I would love this for my g2 but the downloads for it in this thread won't work. I'm running 2.2 on a rooted phone using (VISIONary) to give me root access. Any help to get it to work will be greatly welcomed

are you running an htc sense rom, or is it an aosp build? the htc widgets and apks only work with sense roms.

I downloaded the apk to my stock rooted Rom to replace the one I accidentally deleted but when I try to install it, it tells me application was not installed. And ideas?

me too
Try to use root explorer copy the apk file into your /system/app
change the permission to rw-r-r
change the owner to root.root
Reboot the phone see if it work, else you may need to do a phone factory reset to take effect.
Not sure if your rom is deodex else you will need the FriendStream.odex and com.htc.FriendStreamWidget.odex which is tie to the rom version.

Looking in logcat that comes with the ASE, I get the following message:
E/PackageManager( 75)ackage com.google.android.talk has mismatched UID: 10113 on disk, 10119 in settings
Any idea a) what this means, and b) any way round it? I.e. by editing the settings file, or changing the UID in the apk using a hex editor?

To be exact Titanium Backup states that Google Talk Service 1.3 and Google Talk 1.3 are missing, so i assume only gtalk apk is not enough.

Sorry if I offend, but why would anyone think GTalk to be important? Yahoo Messenger, Kakao Messenger and WhatsApp all have more users than GTalk, and of course, in any chat app, that is the most important thing--the number of users.

Hi guys I've been rooted since Dec, 27 for WiFi tether and last night took the plunge with mikfroyo Rom. I love it but I miss Sprint tv. When I go to the removed apps folder and click Sprint tv to install it says not installed .. can someone please help me or point me in the right direction thanks alot..
use adb to push it or even flipz hero kitchen still works on the evo, you can push it to system/app that way. you could also manually copy/paste the apk in system/app from within root explorer.

download the zip i uploaded, put it on your sd card, boot into recovery and flash it, you should be all set.

yup i included it.
I tried the copy/paste into System/app using Root Explorer when trying to install Kindle and I got the same error. I also got it when trying to install the modified Launcher Pro from Mikfroyo page.

yup, i would def do what "fixxxer2008" said, also saving the apk on my pc and then using the any manager (andro etc), install it. it has worked fot me when swype went away and SprintNav (another rom). Hope this helps, because you guys have helped me tons.
I realize that this may not be the best place for this thread, but I figured it would be where I would find the most rooted users. I was hoping that one of you nice rooted Droid x users might be able to try and give me your keyboard from the 2.3 update.
I loved the Droid x keyboard on my Incredible but it wont work with GB and I want to try and get one working. these are from the 596 gb rom. i had to zip the libjin file, so just extract that one.

Thank you very much sir, now I wish I could figure out why they wont install lol. Even tried resigning the apk. Wonder if I have to edit and xml file or something. Or maybe it's just impossible.

Yup did everything to a T, installed the 2.2 keyboard the same way many times. Still no luck.

go on to the lg support page for help they give you the tools to fix but after the fix z4root and super1click will no longer work to root your phone.

Maybe these are the files u deleted,
If yes copy these files to system/app and give appropriate permission.

i wont update untill dere is a official stable rom..anyways after rooting which software shud be used 2 backup system app plus which app can be removed
Ok. Let me tell you something. I was also having the same feeling like you before. Here in this beautiful community there are more stable ROMS available than official LG GB.
You can remove some unwanted LG apps like AppAdvisor for example. If your phone is rooted, you can use Titanium Backup app, downloadable from the market.
