Repost failure.

I've been using this for quite some time now..its been out for awhile now but this is good for who ever didn't know

How do I know it's working.
I followed this to supposedly check to see if it works.
-Reboot
-Run the Script Manager again;
-Run the script "V6-SuperCharger_for_Android-update3b.sh.txt". Do not forget, "Run as ROOT"
-And see if it is exactly as picture below, if written "Launcher is .... HARD TO KILL!" and just above "NOTE: Current Minfrees = 6, 8, 26, 28, 30, 32 mb" its WORKING!
Mine doesn't say anything but the general
Reminder: user busybox 1.18
...
..
select scrolling speed.

do i have to run the script every time I reboot the phone or do I only run it once?

i dont think you have to re-run it on reboot. i thinks it states so on the link

ya, i didnt know about it till yesterday and hey

U don't rerun script everytime u reset phone but I recommended with script manager (free from market) u go to system/etc/init.d/suppercharger99 and set it to run as root and run at boot.
Also when first using the script choose aggressive 1 and also choose to use 12 for bullet proof also.
Also if u look at main thread he has a 3g tweak and a kernal tweak that u can run through script manager. Both work great on my phone...cm7.1 rc1. To run these just use script manager and run as root. It will run script and then look like nothing was done but it was. They only take about 2-3 seconds to run. If u like u can venture to system/etc/init.d/98kickasskernal and set to run as root and run at boot.
Both of theses files in system/etc/init.d are created after u run the scripts mentioned.
Enjoy ur new super powered phone.

But why does the directions specifically say do NOT "run on boot". I thought it automatically did that?

Ur right no reason to run that script at boot. But the files it creates in the system/etc/Init.d folder sometimes doesn't work. Specifically if the rom ur using doesn't support it starting at boot which some sense roms do not...so as a precaution I always recommend running those as root and at boot just to make sure. Overkill here never hurts

What Papa Smurf is saying is correct. If the script SuperCharger creates in system/etc/init.d isn't sticking after a reboot, force it to run on boot with scriptmanager.

******************
!!!THIS IS SEPARATE FROM ROM!!!
-------------------------
Will only change the system folder YOU modified into system.sqsh
It is a pretty simple straight forward script that does what is says. First click on script and then click display, then on the first line put the dir of the ported system folder: like so
1
example
Code:
cd /home/jamezelle/desktop/hero
next on the second to last line
2
Code:
#put your login name after chown
sudo chown jamezelle ./system.sqsh
ie jamezelle
3
Make sure you use Run in terminal
if not root terminal will ask for password, dont worrry it doesnt save it or anything
ver 2
now tells you what its doing!!!! also will atempt to make directory /mnt/system if not already created
Does anyone find the Build-Script useful??
Disclaimer: i am not responsible for anything if you use this!
but it does save time !!!!!!!!!
If it doesnt execute, right click>properties>permissions tab>check 'allow executing file as program'
I Hope this helps some of you
My first released rom is up! fast and stable thanks zen, maxisma and drizzy
i was looking at that the other day. looks nice.
I'm confused about the whole build-script thing. I'm supposed to download your system.sqsh, extract it, run your build script on it which will convert it to ext2, then back to squashfs again?
Or have you just included the build script as a completely separate tool that we don't actually need to run on your system.sqsh?

It takes a while to start up but it does go through using 320x480... really nice looking ROM... although I still have the same issues I had with the other Hero ROM's - 3+ rings before the phone actually rings.
Yeah it took about 15 mins to boot up...no data img needed. Looks GREAT and everything works very well. Smooth and quick. Easily on of my favs. Good work. Thanks!
i see i'll give it another try again then. thx.

High-end Android phones are pretty damn awesome by themselves. But there’s always a little magic to be had by rooting. For those that are fearless and throw caution to the wind, hop on inside for the quick and relatively painless list of what you need and how to do it…
Let the rooting begin…
1. Download this file — PC36IMG.zip — and copy it to the root of your SD card.
2. Turn off phone. Then power back on holding the power and volume button. **If the PC36IMG files was placed correctly and you successfully booted into the bootloader, you should see text appearing on the screen as the phone automatically checks said file.
3. At the prompt to install the image(s), select “Yes”.
4. Reboot
5. Delete or rename the PC36IMG file so that it won’t automatically try to install it again the next time you venture into bootloader land.
And that’s that. Not nearly as hard or involved as some of the earlier HTC Android devices. EVO 4G owners should try it out and let us know how it goes.

So rooting like this will still give me SU controls, meaning I can use SetCpu? But still with the stock 2.1 sense?
Question about rooting!
1. How do I get Sprint apps back after rooting (such as Sprint TV, Sprint Nav etc.) or are they part of the ROM?
2. How do I backup my phone before rooting? In case I have to return I am sure I will have to unroot it! Is this possible?

[PROGRAM] Infiniflash v1.2 ~ It makes life easier.

The purpose of this program is to make my life easier when developing on the Android Platform. At he same time it may also make your life easier. I would like to keep this project totally open source and I include all of the source files withing the .zip that it comes in. What does this program do? It will allow you to flash custom ROMs straight from your computer, fast and hassle-free.
In this new version, I have done a ton of error/big fixes, rewrote quite a lot, and finally added wiping functionality. Enjoy!
Infiniflash REQUIRES that your device has ClockworkMod Recovery or any recovery that supports /cache/recovery/extendedcommand.
By the way, if you can think of a better name/icon for this program, please, please, please tell me.

I have a DHD as well and had the same issue. You must install the driver for it to work on your device.
1) Visit this link to download and install HTC Sync (which contains the driver): http://goo.gl/P3ZP1
2) After installation plug your device in.
3) To verify you have the driver, open the Infiniflash folder, hold the shift key and right click on the tools folder. Click open command prompt.
4) Now type in the command: adb devices
5) If your device showed up, it worked! Otherwise, try restarting or syncing your phone in HTC Sync, it should start working eventually.
6) Now that you have the driver, Infiniflash will *hopefully* work from now on.
Best of luck
Cheers.

By wiping to ext3 & ext4 do you mean formatting the /system partition to one of those formats? If so I might be able to implement it or make an add-on . By the way, which device requires you to do that? I've never heard of that before... are you sure it's a requirement?

Thank you very much! I think I'll port it over soon, but the only bad part about that is that I have no idea how to make GUI's in Linux so it would be command line only .
It's funny that you mention that though because I'm a Linux user myself and never really thought about it.

[How to] Enable selection of 2G or 3G (NEED HELP)

I discovered this as I was following someone else instructions that didn't quite work and then messing up my phone to where my "com.android.phone" was failing but I was able to find the way for it to so I do not take full credit for this at all and if this has been known I do apologize. This mod does require root explorer (or similar app) and you need to be rooted.
1a. open root explorer and go to system/etc/motorola/com.android.phone/defaults.xml
1b. Long old "open in text editor" change "" to true
2a. Back out to root of phone then data/data/com.android.phone/shared_prefs and repeat step "1b" on "_has_set_default_values.xml" and " Settings.xml"
2b. Make a copy of " com.android.phone_preferences.xml" within that same folder
2c. Open copy file in text editor and repeat step "1b"
2d. Change file name of copy to " com.android.phone_preferences.xml.bak"
3a. Reboot phone
Now when you go into settings>wireless & networks>mobile networks you will be able to select whether you want 2G, 3G, or automatic which selects 4G. If anyone has trouble or anything PM me and I'd be more than happy to walk you through.
Oh and this should work on froyo and GB
*********************************
Looks like this does open the ability to select 2G or 3G selecting either or does nothing. I will continue to look into these files to see if I can make this work
*********************************
I got this far but now Im stuck. The selection can be made but the actual band change isn't occurring. If anyone much have some insight let me know and I'll update the OP.

Since the power control widget is a built in app this tweak unfortunately does not affect it. And since my knowledge is nowhere near a devs I wouldn't be able to make a rom with a widget that supports this mod.

How do I know if I'm really on 2G?
Hi, I have already changed its. But when I reboot the phone. All file in data/data/com.android.phone/shared_prefs are return to the original.
Can you suggest to me for solve this?
Thanks,
Sorry guys I just edited my instructions. You need to edit the .bak file for "com.android.phone_preferences.xml" because the system auto resets to the .bak file for this one so you're tricking it into reseting into the modded file

[Q] "Hello world, PM EasyView!"? Possible malware caught on screenshot?

I recently took a screenshot that revealed another background window behind a warning message window that says "Hello world, PM EasyView!"
Is this some kind of malware? I tried scanning my phone with Lookout Security and it did not detect anything suspicious.
It all began when all of a sudden my stock 2.2.2 Defy's Task Manager kept showing popup messages telling me that my Hotmail app is running for too long and is consuming memory. This never happened before, ie. Task Manager app showing warning messages about apps running for too long. I suspect a malware infestation. Please advise.

If you are scared that you are infected by malware the only "safe" thing to do is a full data wipe.
You dont have clockworkmod installed do you? Would be helpfull to have a full copy of the system to analyze it. I think clockworkmod would be a perfekt method to get a copy of the whole system.
sorry i don't know how to solve this. maybe it's time for you to change to some other ROMs...

Well not exactly scared but I was just wondering about the origin of that "Hello world" message. "PMEasyView"? I wasn't able to find any app or developer by that name among the apps installed on my phone. Just was wondering if anyone here knew thats all. I rooted my phone using SuperOneClick, does it install Clockworkmod too? Or do I have to do it separately?

I did install CM 7.1(2.3.7) but I didn't quite like it..I mean don't get me wrong..CM 7.1 is awesome but the ADW launcher kept crashing on me, something was eating up the battery way to fast and this is weird but I found that the sound quality(headphone and speaker) had actually deteriorated..maybe I didn't get some settings right but anyways I decided to roll back to the Motorola stock 2.2.2 froyo JRDNEM_U3_3.4.3-36-1.7 and wait until CM9 was out.
Thanks for the replies guys..really appreciate you taking the time.

Well it's typical behavior of mallware - I dont have information, that stock task manager will inform you, that some process is running more than x minutes ... try wipe to factory settings and you'll be sure.
Rooting doesn't install Clockworkmod. You only get superuser after rooting. Install 2nd-init and you get Clockworkmod.
You should start using Droidwall and AVG antivirus pro. Try limit the data freedom running in the background.
Thanks for the replies guys. I think I'll wait for CM9. I do have Droidwall installed and I've scanned my phone thoroughly with Lookout Security but nothing was detected. Is it possible that the firmware posted here, the 2.2.2 India one is somehow infected?

I took another screenshot of the supposed malware today, this time without the task manager message. I was able to dismiss the task manager message by pressing the search key somehow.
I have seen exactly that same message today. I thought I have been fairly careful about Malware. However, there was an update that was installed from marketplace today.
I wonder if it is possible to look at an update history.

Is the message window in your case appearing under the exact same circumstances as mine? Which ROM are you using? And also if its possible could you do an inventory of the all the apps installed on your phone, then perhaps we can pinpoint the source. Thanks for the reply.
