Hello,
I recently started using using ein's Green Mango with marketplace ROM, the 7592 one, and I've got a few problems.
Curiously, whenever a new message arrives, be it IM, or Facebook notice, the screen lights up, and can be slid up to see the message. Well, sometimes this presents a problem when the phone is in my pocket, and I end up sending random text messages, or calling people.
Is there any registry edit or fix for this? Perhaps an option I may have missed in settings?
use lockscreen.
Only way to be sure of not sending anything embarrassing!
Ah yeah, I do lock the screen, but the notifications tend to turn it on while in my pocket, then by walking or whatever, it'll randomly manage to slide all the way up. I put in a password, but now I end up sometimes with it making random passwords, and me being stuck only able to emergency dial for three minutes.
But anyway, thanks for your reply.
LOL, sorry I meant lockscreen AND password but I can see that it is still a problem!
Others have said use the case it came with, but its tricky to get out until its worn in.
Searching real WP7 threads they dont seem to have this problem it may be a HD2 thing with the touchscreen.
Baggier jeans?
Haha yeah, I guess baggier jeans will have to do.
Its just a stupid problem, overall the ROM is pretty good, and I enjoy the HD2. I just wish it wouldn't flash the screen when notifications come up, that's all. Guess I'm far to used to android.
But again, thank you for your help.

Hiya Folks
I've a few niggly faults with my new Orange SPV M3100. For the most part it has done really well and I'm very happy with it.
I have of course installed additional software, whether it be free or paid for eek: I know! I've actually bought software for it!). I am not a complete newbie to PDAs or mobile phones and still have my Psion 5mx for the majority of my life
However. This 3100 is doing some strange things, acting slow and sometimes forgetting things.
Such as, when it's cold (between 3 and 8 degrees) if I'm typing with the keyboard it goes really slow and randomly selects characters from the text I have typed in.
Incomming call / text "wakes" the unit then locks up when I don't do anything to it, hence I then see the amber LED and try to wake it but it won't. Only a soft reset will cure it and, oh, it's wiped the last missed call or the last text message. Hmm. Handy.
I have had it clipped to my belt when I'm outside working and it takes ages to get going when its cold outside (previously mentioned) but I can be washing a truck with it snug in its Orange provided holster and answering a call (and stop using the steam cleaner) and the phone is ok.
Hmm.
It randomly disconnects the ActiveSync hookup and then reconnects.
Still with me?
Anyway, so I'm thinking of doing a hard reset, and so I'll be trying to "backup" in every sense of the word my work on it.
Any suggestions and helpful remarks about this proceedure?
TIA
I havent got a solution for you however i completely support your situation in that the exact same thing happens to my Dopod 838Pro. (Not quite the temperature problem, as we dont get down that low here) but definately the freezing up if you ignore a reminder.
Ive found that it seems to be linked to the number of items on the Today screen and that if i remove some of them, it doesnt seem to occur that often.
Im currently running, PhoneAlarm, SPB Diary, T-Day Countdown, SPB Time and it seems to be stable for the moment...
I hope we can find a solution as this does drive me nuts.

Resisted the urge to reply to your question earlier as I was sure others would have wisdom to impart.
Some of what you mention .. Active Sync issues are fairly common and in a way therefore not of huge concern to the extent of indicating a hard reset.
Puzzled by the slowness in cold. I'm in Scotland and therefore no stranger to cold, but cannot say I've noticed performance issues related to temperature.
Keyboard problems are reported but not of the type you describe. Missing letters or insensitive keys but not the kind of lagging behaviour you have.
Lock-ups frequently related to apps not fully shut down and leaving wifi on overnight for example. Again freezing on incoming calls texts has been reported fairly often.
As regards backup check this, though I guess by now you've seen it already

This is one good thing to hear. I'm not going to critisize a microsoft product as at the moment there is no replacement and it seems ok in the main

That is a weird one. When the keys slow right down then I find if I close messaging and start it again then sometimes it cures it. A lot of the time I don't have much running at all. Phone and MS Reader mostly but that's about it. I'm not using it for GPS at the moment as I don't have a decent power source in the vehicles I drive for work (24v but the ciggy sockets rarely work!). Once I've sorted the power issues then I'll consider going up to SatNav

I've not had this phone long but that was the main issue that has frustrated me. I work outdoors, often standing around for long periods of time doing nothing except twiddle a few control sticks and turn around a fair bit. The M3100 is clipped to my belt on the stock "orange" holster. It is not inside a pocket normally.
Occasionally if I'm all harnessed up and have loads of layers on the phone will go in my inside jacket pocket, but only as it's easier to reach there rather than on my belt. And if I drop it from there then it really will break. I won't say "an excuse for a new one" as I'm not like that, but it is insured as it is expensive!

I rarely use wifi at home. Strangely enough the only wifi place I have found is, ahem, my local pub Not sure why the freezing happens. I suspect it is a combination of message inbound not dealt with and then left on to hang.... Don't even mention rom/flash updates. I'm not that brave yet

Just to check are you actually using messaging when the keys slow down or are you using another application with messaging running in the background?
If you are using messaging is it actually connected and if so is it perhaps still synchronising with the server?
Mike
Mike, I'm using the software that is original to the machine. I am writing sms text messages. I don't use MMS or email or anything like that yet.
My email usage is waaaay too high to realistically use on the PDA anyway... But thanks for the suggestion
As an update.
The problem has reared up again
The only thing running that was I could see was Phone, MS Reader and Messaging. I accessed Messaging through the start menu, browsed down to an existing message and hit reply. Slid out the keyboard and typed out a line of response. I left it on the counter, still open, whilst put the shopping away. When I returned about, er, 30 seconds later it was still trying to put the characters on the screen and the display had gone off. I pressed a few more buttons but they didn't come up and the display came on after about 3 seconds.
I tried to add more words to it but it just didn't type them in so out of frustration I pressed the reset switch with the pointer/pen and MSN'd the message.
As for today plugins:
I've got Date/Time at the top, then Task list (all built in) then "Phone Dashboard (1.9.2), and SPB Pocket Plus.
However, even after this soft reset the machine is still slow to respond
I'm thinking it's just a problem that I've installed some software, didn't like it and have subsequently uninstalled it.
Suggestions? Please? Pretty Please ??
Right, well, I've got rid of the slowness in the messaging, and also speeded it up an awful lot.
I've removed the SPB Pocket Plus Application. I've lost a few nice things, but it also means i can use other WAV files with alarms. For some reason I couldn't change it. Well, I could and did but every time it came back to a default setting somewhere...
Ahh fun. I might still do a reset to cure this word docs problem though
But at least I'm moving forwards

Hi Elwyn
Just to be absolutely clear in order to pass your findings onto others - You believe it was the removal of SPB Pocket Plus that was slowing down messaging and that it was it's removal that got things going again normal speed?
Shame about the "word" thing. I started a thread asking about whether from the extended ROM individual applications (like MSWord) could be reinstalled without hard reset - but got no replies I would have done more research on this myself but time has not allowed it.

Last night whilst at work I tried another text message and got quite, ah, annoyed with it. I also had a problem with alarms as well that I was setting with a different tone/sound but it always defaulted, and I thought that was to do with the reminders options in PP. So I uninstalled it. My today screen looked quite empty without it, and was reminded that as I was 300 miles from home was this a good idea? Anyway, did it. Tried to send a text message and it worked flawlessly

Of course, if I get really annoyed... I have the memory card to backup onto

If you've locked your M3100 with a password and forgotten it, the only way to get in would be with a hard reset.
If you're lucky and you already have it synchronised with Outlook then you might be able to sync it there before hard resetting to start again.
Hi All.
I've persevered with this problem long enough and I'm reaching the point where I'm ready to send my phone back and ask for something else.
The problem is, seemingly at random, the phone loses the notification settings for SMS, MMS and reminders and silences them all and turns off all display messages.
The only way I catch a message coming in these days is to have the phone on the desk and watch for the screen turning on.
It leaves the volume up for the phone ringing etc but switches off messages.
It's absolutely doing my head in. I've googled but noone else seems to be reporting similar messages so I'm wondering if there is something really easy I'm missing or is it a hardware thing some how.
Anyone got any ideas? Filaing that, has anyone got a backup of the original UK T-Mobile ROM that I can put back on?
Cheers,
Smiffy.
Exactly the same is happening to my dual, after I upgraded to WM 6.1! It's really annoying.
I reported the problem to Customer Support, but they only recommended to perform a hard reset
Of course I did, but nothing happens.
I found the registry keys which are supposed to control this, but it's useless for me - Maybe someone can find a way to keep the settings in read-only mode or something
I hope HTC release a hotfix for this problem asap!
Hey yesterday i noticed a major issue. I was sending quite a few texts and in turn receiving quite a lot back. However after receiving about the 1st four messages they no longer began show up and my tone didn't go off. The only reason i noticed that something wasn't right is because the screen lit up and when i went to inbox there sure enough was an unread message- even though the screen never displayed a new message!!!
Today I'm still experiencing the problem...along with an obviously related issue. Ocassionally when i click on messaging it simply won't open and i find myself soft resetting the phone or turning it off and back on.
Obviously this is a major problem for me!...Please help me! Everything else is fine!
Oh and sometimes the phone randomly wakes up :/
bump!
i got the EXACT same problem, it is so annoying..
it shows no number of unread messages at the enveloppe on the today screen, however when you go in the message boxes there clearly are some unread messages, both e-mails and text messages..
is there ANY way to fix this? it's so incredibily annoying!
Have any of you tried removing some old messages?
I know I had some trouble with messages opening slow, but when I deleted a bunch of messages (and emptied the "deleted" folder), it worked great.
tried that just now with no luck, works on no other panel either..
I deleted my messages too and also uninstalled xperiatweak as ive heard this can cause problems...i havent yet had a chance to check the progress but as for the messaging tab opening up i dont seem to get that issue anymore *touch wood*. I
have noticed however that i get the occassional overload of device.exe errors and i mean overload...once one pops up about at least another 5 do! Even if i press send report or don't send report...it happens. I end up pressing the panel key :/ There are some definate bugs that need sorting.
Actually still no luck with xperiatweak gone...i got quite a series of device.exe errors and then after they'd gone i went to click on messaging and once again nothing happened...nor would contacts show! i think i may need to hard reset the phone!
megh i'd hate having to do a hardreset, don't want to lose my installed appz and having to install plus configure them again >_<
ive just done a hard reset...which i agree is a pain! But wow i forgot how fast the xperia is...i think im going to keep which apps i install to minimum and only install what i need. Obviously the error has been picked up from somewhere... What apps did you previously install? Maybe we have something in common?
torch button, mplaylist manager, neoFTP, pocket scrobbler, remote touch, skype, total commander, xchange r8, youtube panel, google panel, windows live panel... oh yea and tomtom7..
probably some stuff i left out due to them already being uninstalled.. maybe they left some traces in register i dunno..
pardon my french but f*ck this, i just did a hard reset too, will install the english rom too.. stupid dutch windows mobile.. (i know it's not the languages fault but it's an ugly language )
After hard reset...it has just happened again. I then thought it might be vistahide battery as come to think of it it didnt happen before that...been sending testers after getting rid of vistahide and everythin else ok. But i only have the new panels installed...no other add-ons now! So god knows!
Still experiencing this problem from time to time...very annoying! Hard resetted twice and no luck as such. It really is very annoying as i often miss messages if i don't see the screen wake-up Please...anyone know a solution or have this issue? Thanks
Bump .
Anyone?....

Oh and sometimes the phone randomly wakes up :/"
noticed it happens whenever my mobile got a full bar 3G receptions... what about you guys?
Yes ive noticed a random wake-up and ive thought 'oh that must be another message with no sound grrr' then i look in messaging and no message...so wasn't that and was jus a random wake-up.
It is really starting to irritate me now and today my alarm didn't sound when it's been fine since i've got it! I wondered if the problem was connected? Do you think the new update (well not officially released yet)...the new rom or whatever would solve the problem? Please any light on this...the messaging one is my main problem because I can just set another alarm clock but for messaging...its what a phone should be able to do. Thanks.
Seems like there are few people who are experiencing this problem.
I have the same problem as you all are. I've tried emptying the message but no luck.
If hardresetting doesnt work, then the problem doesnt related to any kind of software we installed?
yea i hard reset twice so i know it doesnt
Its driving me mad now! Its the only issue i have with it and its a real shame because i love my X1 otherwise. Do you think the new FW will solve my problem?
I was receiving messages fine 20 mins ago and then 5 mins ago i got a random screen wake-up but thought it was a message that hadn't come through properly so i tried to go into messaging but it wouldn't open up....i tried everything. clicked it so many times. changed panels. nothing. in the end i had to soft reset the phone :S
Ok I have a nexus one and I'm using Handcent OS, and i thought it was the program itself so I Decided to reset the phone to factory, and try it. It seems that after an amount of time of the phone being on it stops recieving data and sending it..like txt messages and I get network errors.. Is this a common bug or is my device buggy? because when i restart it, it all works again..but when I use it after awhile it will fail sending messages... and then I have to restart to finish sending my txt message...
my phone is doing this too. i thought it was just me. It does it with the stock SMS and Handcent as well. Just fails to send messages or send/receive calls. I hope it gets worked out, I love this phone to death!
P.s. I am not rooted

I'm not rooted either, because I love the phone stock... I would rather keep my warranty intact just incase something retarded happens. But yah I think its a software bug...or something to do with the 3g signal and all that signal bug thing going on...I love my phone too its so sexy..I love making my friends Iphone look like a piece of trash with icons..
A few times each week I get the exclamation mark in the red triangle when trying to text and I after I try a bunch more times it'll either work or Ill have to restart the phone. But I can't remember having an issue with phone calls. Sometimes ill dial and it will just hang up but it always works right after when I call again. There are a Lot of software issues that Im sure Google will address through time. Hopefully that's all this is....

I have this happen to me too intermittently. A quick reboot always resolves the issue. I just chalk it up to T-mobile network issues.

WE need a reboot application that reboots at night at least once everyday should fix it? ya think..Without root being needed....
Pinch to zoom needs to work in more than one spot... I've noticed in some spots it should be applicable and its not...depressing..
Glad to hear that I'm not the only one experiencing this issue.
It's not a T-Mobile network issue: If it regularly occurs, and rebooting your phone fixes it, then it's not an issue with T-Mo's network or SMSC, it's the phone.
Are there any bug reports filed with Google for this one? Does anyone else running non-stock ROMs have this problem as well?

One thing about typing its almost impossible to convey inflection so I don't know if you're kidding. If you aren't
, which would be weird, I don't know of any Android phones that flip any direction other than to the left for portrait. I'm sure there are custom roms that flip every which way but not stock
I'm not sure what you mean about zoom but it works in gallery, maps, browser and 3rd party apps can utilize it. Out of curiosity, where else did you think it should be available? I would say for documents but I guess that's a decision for the application's dev...

Maybe just some random Android bug ?
Y'all install handscent? I heard that causes a text bug..... thats what I heard so right off the bat I installed chomp sms and no problems...
I get the sms fail bug intermittently and I am on CM 5.0.4.1 although I never seemed to notice it before I started using Handcent. I do love that app though, is there a different one that is comparable?
Yes CM5.0.4.1 does allow for 360 degree rotation. You can flip the phone upside down and it rotates!

Hello,
This doesn't always happen, but i have had my phone in one hand and i have been calling it with my home phone in the other hand and it goes straight to voice-mail even though i have full/plenty of signal! It seems to happen more consistently when the phone is asleep, but does occasionally happen with the screen on. This appears random, but happens A LOT! My girlfriend has given up calling me because she is fed up of hearing my voicemail!
This problem DOES NOT EXIST when im just booted in WinMo, only happens after i boot into android. I have checked this lots to rule out a lot of problems. However, in case it helps i am on O2 UK.
I have followed all the FAQ's and other info for clean installs and how to keep everything working, but just cant seem to shake this one problem!
This problem has happened consistently using different builds from different chefs. I am using the 2.15.50.14 radio ROM and the latest NRG WinMo ROM (have tried a couple but doesnt seem to affect my android!)
I have tried searching, but cant find anything specific to Android booting on Winmo to do with this problem.
Can you help me?!
Thanks,
Max
Please somebody help me, this is a serious problem, after all, a phones first and foremost feature should be a phone!
Try flashing a new radio onto the phone
Go back to an older radio? I'll give it a shot
Thanks
Flashing a new radio has made no difference Someone must have an answer! As odd as this sounds, i think the phone doesnt show the calls when the screen is on... havnt tested this theory much though...
I've had the same problem no matter if it's an SD build or a NAND rom. It's like when the phone goes in standby it just loses service or something. It NEVER happens when I have it set only on Edge though. It's weird! I guess it's a good think I don't answer the phone most the time anyways.
This is still happening on different radios and roms. I have also noticed that occasionally i have full signal but when i try to do anything online i get a connection error message, also i am unable to send any messages, handcent sms goes crazy thinking that i have signal but being unable to send the message giving me about 5 notifications per unsent text, imagine what happens when i send out a group text....!
This is not a huge issue on the net, which must mean theres a fix or everybody would be having this?
Whats different about my circumstances?!
Again, to reiterate, i have absolutely no problems on WinMo.
i used to get this a fair bit with certain radios on wm roms, stock and cooked, still do occasionally, , i have a very weak reception spot in my house, and if i sit there for too long it does it. I can walk back upstairs (great signal) but it continues to show 1 bar, and calls go to vm.
The only thing that ever worked for me was changing the radio. i have it down to two that very rarely do it, 2.07.50 and 2.11.50.
I also started using a toggle to keep 3g off unless i was using it, i think it is possibly triggered by auto switching gsm/3g/gsm/3g/gsm/3g.
I had one today .. missed call .. Didn't show up on the phone.
I had one today .. missed call .. Didn't show up on the phone.
Only way I knew someone had called .. was they left a VM.
However 99% of my callers never leave a VM.
( Mostly Cause I Tell them Not to! lol )
Because I always see the missed calls and call them back!
Really would like to find a fix ..
I use my phone for Biz and if I miss a call that could me $$$ out of my pocket!
Maybe the Devs Can Figure it out
I have also had this problem with both sd and nand android. Not sure if it happened with winmo, never known of it happening with winmo. But I too have called from house phone to my cell and the call doesn't show up on my cell, and when I check the cell, I have a signal. It's always been in standby when it happens afaik. The only reason I know it happens often is because my girlfriend will tell me that she's called a couple times and my phone wouldn't show it. I figured it must be a problem with T-mobile or something, but hearing that other people have this problem with android, it makes me wonder what the real issue is. I'm gonna be playing around with wp7 now in addition to android, so I'll try to see if I have this problem with wp7. I actually usually have people call my google voice number now, which transfers the calls to my cell and my house, and then google voice lets me know if i miss a call, so this way I know for sure if I miss a call.
Similar issue... possibly a build problem?
I've had this occur on some builds of Android too. I didn't use WinMo long enough to make a comparison. Does it occur more when you are in a weak signal area? Most of the times it has happened to me, I have been sitting with the phone in my pocket, and I think the reception might not be the best.
switching to a NAND ROM seems to have fixed my problem for now! Shame that didnt work for you.
Yeah please let us know if it exists in WP7. No idea how to use google voice, maybe i should check it out!
