Hey guys, I'm new to the forums, and I just picked up my vibrant two days ago... my twitter sync works perfectly, but my facebok one unfortunately doesnt... none of my contacts pictures show up, and theres no sync to their account...
what i tried was downloading the facebook app and now when i click to view a contacts profile, it only takes me to mine, and the pictures STILL dont show up...
Does anyone have any advice they can please offer? I'm a major facebooker for business and the sync was one of the main selling points for me... am I doing something wrong or should I exchange my vibrant for a new one?
Thanks!!
It wouldn't be a problem with the device itself I think. My contacts do show their profile pictures and status updates but it hasn't been retrieving data for a couple days so I'm assuming It's just a server issue. Give it a couple days and see what turns up

Same here... it hasn't updated anything in days, so my dumbass deleted the account and added it again, but that only made it worse, cuz now it says "sync is currently experiencing problems. It will be back shortly" so I guess I can only wait now... I am not sure, but I think this happened after I did an update to the app, but I am not sure
Mine did this as well for a couple of days when I first got the phone. Then it just randomly synced one day, so from my understanding, it's on Facebook's end, not your phone.
Damn Facebook lol.

So this post isn't for me but for a friend who doesn't have an account here.
Anyways, he's telling me that the problem he's having is with messaging. He says that it goes really slow closing one messaging and then opening another one and says that the keyboard also takes a second to be brought up. He hasn't rooted his phone as it is still relatively new and he doesn't understand all of what rooting is. I'm just wondering if anyone else with a droid x has had this problem and if they had a fix for it.
Thanks.
I had this problem until I deleted about 2k texts and reduced my total texts to about 3k. If he wants to keep his texts find an app to back them up before deleting them.
He's only just told me about this problem. I'm gonna go check it out for myself then i'll report back.
Does he use Facebook to sync photos to contacts? I used to have this problem and removing the linked Facebook account fixed my slow messaging speed.
I've searched through previous threads and couldn't find an answer so I'm hoping someone here can point me in the right direction.
Note that I'm on my 2nd Droid X. The screen on the first one died, but it too experienced this issue.
The issue I am having is with syncing contact pictures onto the phone. If I add them manually, the picture quality is fine. Note that I am using OS X to sync my contacts from Address Book with Missing Sync. The only problem is that as soon as I sync my contacts to Google, the picture quality goes to hell. I have disabled automatic contact sync and unlinked my Address Book from my Google account, but I'm just wondering if there is a workaround for this. It's not a big deal to sync everything manually, but being able link everything automatically with my Google account in case of a catastrophic simultaneous breakdown of my computer and my phone would be nice. Any advice on how to fix this would be greatly appreciated.
Edit: Not sure if this helps any, but my phone is rooted and running on stock Froyo 2.2.340.
No one have any issues with this?

I'm sure everyone does but just accepts that Google just reduces the image quality when it's synced to their servers
Thanks for the reply. I was just being optimistic hoping there was a way to shut my iPhone friends up when they see crappy pictures show up in a call.
Are you on facebook? I use the app syncmypix to put the profile pictures of my contacts that are my friends on facebook cuz it seems launcherpro has trouble updating the pics... I know there is an option to use high quality pics... I don't know if that would solve your problem

Yeah, unfortunately that doesn't seem to work either since as soon as the pictures are synced with Google, it's back to the low quality versions. The weird thing is my wife's Incredible syncs automatically with her Google contacts, and everything looks great so I'm not sure if the problem is with Motorola or just the way Google interacts with the Droid X.
The Incredible might be storing local copies of the hi-res images
Hi all, I've done some searching but haven't been able to find a decent answer to this minor problem.
Basically, contact pictures (stored in Google, linked to facebook for HTC sense) are no longer updating. Previously, when people changed their photos on facebook, that would eventually filter through to the contact pictures displayed on my phone. This is no longer happening, possibly related to GB update but I can't be sure.
If I go into the person's contact page on my phone and move across to Updates and events, I see the correct photo attached to their recent updates. However, if I then try to edit the contact and choose the photo to be attached, the photo offered by Facebook for HTC Sense is incorrect. Manually syncing contacts in FB for HTC doesn't do anything.
I know it's a miniscule problem in the grand scheme of things, but it's annoying me. Am I missing any vital steps here? Is there a way of forcing a contact photo update?
Common issue with gb, just try delete Facebook for htc account and login in again, and then sync. It was help to me..

Thank you georgito. I should have said that I've already been through that process once and, yep, it reloaded the pictures correctly the first time. Thing is, I seem to be stuck with those pictures now, so it's still not actually updating on the fly. I don't fancy deleting and reinstating the account every time I want to update photos!
Should also have said I'm on stock rom, etc. For now.
It's not just stock ROM problem, I had several cooked roms based on android 2.3. 3 and all shows same problem...

Okay so. Sounds like I'll just have to get used to it. Wish I'd never noticed! Thanks again.
Thanks guys. I got sync working on my KF. And I have done a lot of other things with my KF thanks to you guys.
Sorry to start a new thread but I didn't want to derail a sync thread when I have sync working. LOL
BTW a simple copy of the sync file to system/app, setting of permissions, and rebooting worked great for getting it to sync for me.
I have a problem with my calendar display.
The problem is that in week view or monthly view, the top of the calendar is cut off and doesn't show the holidays and birthdays like on my Droid X.
There is a gray bar up top. The gray bar also cuts off part of the first week in month view and 12:00AM in week view as well as the day of the week. The holidays and birthday calendars are enabled and are syncing.
Birthdays and holidays show up when I go to Agenda view so the data are there and sync'd.
It seems to be a display problem but I cannot see where to adjust the way it displays.
I am rooted and on 6.2.2
Screen caps from both KF and DroidX are attached of the same week view.
Any suggestions?
I have the same problem with the cut off top side. Of course, I have yet to be able to get it to sync either, so I haven't tried yet to fix it.
Just for curiosity, can you post which site you downloaded your calendar apk files from? I just want to cover all bases.
Brent
It was a link in one of the threads here on syncing. Can't remember. Sorry.
Also I forgot to post above versions of calendar.
On Droid it is 2.3.3 and on KF it is 2.3.7
I am sure that may have something to do with it. I am going to backup with titanium and try installing 2.3.3 on kf to see if it fixes it.
Man I love it now that I have Swype on my kf!
Well that didn't work. I guess titanium doesn't like restoring stuff backed up from other devices.
I guess I need to find the apk for 2.3.3
And Astro didn't show it in the list of apps to backup on my DroidX. I guess because it is a system app.
No luck finding an older version of calendar. Can't find anything on correcting the problem either.
Installed cm7 and calendar is working fine. Version 2.3.7
