Original Development vs Development, Your Picture-Based Guide - Galaxy S II General

For all those confused about what exactly constitutes Original Development, I'll try to explain using pretty pictures!
Imagine that this is the stock ROM:

Android Development Forum is like:
You see? One set is the original and things based off the original but with their own original ideas working towards a goal of perfection. The other is not, it contains copies and mere derivatives of ideas but simple projects for aspiring developers to hopefully learn from and progress their way into the world of the Renaissance.
Refer to this announcement if you have any questions.

Nice post; thread stuck. If users feel the need to discuss the intricacies of what exactly constitutes development, follow the aforementioned thread.

I want to help out, what's the development software do u use to modify the roms and customizing them? I wanna help by using my skills to enhance some roms. thanks! hope to hear from you soon.
Read everything by Mamaich, Willem, Buzz and the other mythical beings.
Buzz has info on his site about decrypting roms. Willem's posts are fundamental knowledge on everything PDA. Mamaich is the man with the tools. They're like the A-Team of Rom Hacking; Buzz actually looks like Murdock.

Own Android Nand Subforum

First i want to thank you all devs for working on those devices, thanks to xda for this portal, and HAPPY NEW YEAR.
I do believe it is now time to have a own NAND subforum under HD2 so we can have a better overview of the upcoming release.
What do you think?

Would be very usefull indeed.
There's already a thread on this with a poll
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=895182
In my view, there's no need for one. New labeling rules for threads make it pretty easy to see which builds are for NAND and which are for SD.
For now, looks like the answer is "no":

There's a poll in that thread, so add your vote.

Hi all,
I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself, my user name is original_ganjaman. I have been assigned to moderate this forum.
My goal is to keep this forum as clean and easy to find what you need as quickly as possible. I ask you to help me by posting in the correct sections.
Please only post ROM Development, Hacks, Mods, Fixes and Tutorials in the development section, all questions go in general. This prevents the development section getting clogged up by irrelevant posts.
If you see any thread that is in the wrong section or if you see any questionable posts, please don't hesitate to click the report (

How do you comment on ROMS?

Preludedrew released his first preview build of Evervolv 3.0.0.

My apologies if this has been mentioned elsewhere already, but I noticed this on Twitter earlier and figured I would provide you guys with a heads up.
I'm not affiliated with this project at all, so don't ask me what works or not. I'm assuming that it doesn't do much more than boot at this point, so you definitely only want to try this if you're really interested in JB.

My apologies. I haven't been here in a while since I've moved on from the phone, but I saw him post about it and thought to check to see if you guys had been given the heads up about it. I looked through the first few pages of both the development sections and this section and didn't see anything. I never thought to look at the stickies. I never do, because they're out of the way when you're using the XDA app.
I'm sorry for clogging things up, I just wanted to help.
This is already in the jelly bean sticky. Thread closed

This thread was made so the developers can share (if they want to) information about the development of the upcoming Android 9 Custom ROM's for the Moto G5 plus and users can come and check if their favourite ROM is getting renewed with a new flavour.
------------------------------------
* Please! Don't ask for ETA's, it is disrespectful to the developers who are working hard and have a life outside of the community.
* Don't spam the thread with information already shared or with questions that have been already answered...use the search function, it doesn't bite!
