I'm on my second dream (g1) so it has been a rough time but i love this phone. I just noticed that sometimes when i unlock my phone i get android.process.acase error, i restored the phone and it SEEMS that this has been fixed but i have another problem. When i go to bed i put my phone (which is on at this point) on the charger and when i wake up in the morning it's off. Is this some form of power-saving or is there a problem?

What do you mean by "restore"? Usually if my phone shuts off during charge, it comes back into a boot loop.
I did the factory restore in the settings menu. Oh and about the reboot, I usually find it off in the morning but it turns on fine.
Had it for over 3 weeks. Never had one single problem, reboot, etc.
Was working fine today, left it on the desk for a bit, went to use it again....Nothing. Press power button, screen does not turn on at all. Red light is flashing sometimes. Tried plugging into the wall charger, not charging, nothing shows up.
If I make a phone call to it, it rings but nothing on screen shows up and pick up call obviously. Now its flashing red/green LED's, I just tried sending it an e-mail and could hear the e-mail sound so its a live but the screen is completely dead.
I can fix mostly anything on a PC but sort of a noob when it comes to smartphones. Should I pull the battery? How do I reset it without erasing any data? I'm going to take it to the place I bought it from later today but is there anything I can do?
Anyone have a similar problem before? I tried searching on the net but can't really come up with anything.
I had that once before... just pull the battery...

Plug it into the charger that came with the phone. Leave it plugged in for a hour or so.
Pulling the battery should fix it.

I did that and the only thing that changed was it was flashing More LED colors instead of just red.
I'm going to try pulling the battery now. Hopefully its not too hard to do...
Does this happen often to you guys? Anything that causes it?

You know how to take the back case off right? What are you doing on XDA if you have never opened your phone before lol.
Software bugs are the likely cause. My screen locks up every once in a while and I am unable to turn it back on..battery pull always resolves it. When in doubt, pull the battery.
Pulled the battery and everything is fine. Thanks everyone.
You can probably delete this thread if you'd like.
If its a software bug, probably all the apps....right??
So last night when I went to sleep, my phone was working fine. I had forgotten to plug it in though. When I woke up this morning to turn my alarm off, the volume kept turning itself back up. So I took the battery out, and put it back in, and the phone vibrated 3 times and the LED started blinking orange. I repeated this process and the same thing happened. I turned the phone on using Vol-Down+Power, and it vibrates 5 times and LED becomes green and holds green. I was looking around and I found out that the Qualcomm chip went in to download mode or something, and you had to take the battery out for 10-ish minutes to fix it. So I did that, put the battery back in, and the phone turned on just fine.
A few hours ago, my phone died. I plugged it in, let it charge for a little bit, and tried to turn it back on, and the vibration and LED blinking orange started to happen again. So I took the battery out for 10 minutes, didn't fix it this time. So I thought maybe the phone didn't get enough charge, so I let it charge for about an hour, repeated the process, nothing.
I've taken the battery out, SD Card, and SIM out for 10 minutes. Nothing. Currently the phone is sitting next to me, and I have it plugged in to the charger. The LED is orange (not blinking), so I believe that means it's receiving a charge, so hopefully not all is lost.
Since I have no idea what could be causing this, I'll give you guys everything I know about my phone:
I have the good eMMC chip
I have the bad screen
I have the engineering bootloader, S-OFF (through the perma-S-OFF method in the dev. section)
I am currently running [KANG] DARKSIDE CM7.2.0 rc0 [1.12.2012]
I have flashed the official CM7, MIUI, and most recently (besides what I'm currently running) Creamed Glacier 7.0
I have flashed TDJs ICS kernel v13 (or whatever one you need to have WiFi in ICS)
I'll keep trying to get this fixed, but if anyone has any ideas, please, let me know.
Thanks!

Before my phone shut off, I was able to turn the volume down and up without any problems, so I'll assume no, but I could be wrong

You did say it turned up on it's own and in order for your phone to enter that mode (I forget what it's called), you hold up on the vol rocker and power it on.

Yeah, it turned up on its own. I thought you meant the rocker itself. I could turn volume up and down myself, but sometimes it'd turn up on its own. So that's probably what's causing the problem?
Edit: LED just turned green. I'm assuming this means it's fully charged, so I'm gonna try turning it on now.
Edit 2: 3 vibrates and blinking LED still :/

try holding vol down when you power the phone on to go into hboot, go into recovery and then rebooting the phone or just rebooting the phone from there.

Nope, that causes the LED to turn green and the phone vibrates 5 times. Nothing else happens. This happened earlier though, and my phone still was able to turn on, so I'm not sure if it's done yet.
Also IF I can't get this fixed, I can get a SquareTrade warranty for $33 which is (obviously) way cheaper than paying for a new phone (I don't have Tmobile's warranty), does anyone know if that warranty would cover this?

You could try calling t-mo and see what they can do about it.
I bricked my mt4g several months ago and they sent me a replacement after what seemed like an hour of troubleshooting, even though I bought my mt4g through radioshack.
If they send you another one, it'll be refurbished, but hey it's better than a bricked phone.

I'm assuming I didn't. I'm not sure. The only thing I remember about a warranty is that I couldn't do anything through radioshack cause that one expired.
And I just now saw your kindle fire sig. lol

Haha I was, but then I tried to turn it back on one more time and it did, so I had to come here and ask. And I thought I had read somewhere that flashing a radio might fix the issue.
i have a a mt4g that i got off craigslist and didn't do enough research when i tried to flash every thing so i have the same blinking light but i found i have to pull the battery for 4 hrs before it will give me a 50/50 chance with adb or to boot and i also have no access to any recoverys its android or nothin. i've been dying to find instructions on how to reflash the back ups through adb but lil to no luck
Since this morning my notification light is stuck in solid green. I did not install any new apps, rebooting did not fix it. I even powered off the phone and the light remained on. Only removing the battery turns the green led off but as soon as I put the battery back the LED turns back on to green, even without starting the phone again.
Is it me or does this sound like a hardware fault...?
I have a I9505 running stock XXUDMH8, TPH csc. I am not rooted or in any way running a modified system. I have no apps dedicated to overriding LED settings installed.
Any ideas on what to try?
Thanks.

As the led stays on even with the phone off, do you believe this will help?
I am not rooted so doing a factory reset is a major thing as I have no backups.

I did a factory reset and it didn't fix the problem. My notification LED is still stuck in green. I guess it's off to warranty.... Not happy.

Yes, the LED stays on with the phone powered off. If I remove the battery the LED quickly fades away but starts back on as soon as I put the battery back in place.

Seems like a problem with the hardware. You need to return it back and most probably warranty will cover it... Try also to disable the notification led from the settings...
I have almost exactly the same problem. Today I left the phone charging overnight and in the morning the notification LED was bright blue. It stayed this way after I opened and read all texts and mails, it stayed regardless if the screen was on or off, it even stayed when I turned the phone off(!) and I only managed to put it out by pulling the battery - however it went back on immediately after replacing the battery. I turned off all notifications in settings, made sure I have plenty of free memory and card space etc. etc. The only thing I managed to do was to make it dim blue instead of bright blue after shutting down and booting up again. Now it lurks in the darkness, occasionally flashing, but mostly just glowing in blue.
The only ideas that I have left:
- some app update brought an unsolicited feature, but how to check it w/o wiping up everything? and how the hell does it stay lit after turning off the phone anyway?
- something went bad when charging - but these phones are supposed to have some protections from overcharging, so it shouldn't be a problem if it stays connected at 100%, right? besides, the phone works perfectly normal otherwise.
- I'm using an s-view cover, maybe it has something to do with it? I tried removing it to no avail - but maybe the magnets embedded in the cover contributed over time to the now-observed led malfunction?
@AlexandreT - do you use S-view? from what I understand, your problem also occurred after charging - did the phone stay on charger for long, eg. overnight? maybe you managed to solve the problem since?

I don't use S-view. The problem occurred after charging overnight. It was solved by replacing the whole motherboard under warranty.

Hahaha. You're replying after three years ????
I dropped my phone a bit ago and had to replace the screen. I also damaged the battery when I removed it so bought a supposedly genuine one.
The replacement battery doesn't charge right. It will say it's fully charged when the phone is switched off but when I turn the phone on it could be anywhere from 50%-100% charged.
Recently my phone has started turning itself off randomly. It doesn't power down. Just goes from on to off.
And then today it's been constantly asking me to re-enter my sim pin. But the phone isn't resetting before this happens.
I've tried a couple of different ROMS and they both do this.
Strangely if I go into recovery the phone NEVER turns off.
Could a dodgy battery cause these problems? Or is it a hardware problem?

I thought of that. I'll give it a shot.
Tried with stock 4.4.4 and I can't even unlock my sim card now. I put in my pin number and it just goes back to asking for it again. A message flashes for a split second that I can't fully make out but I know it says "failed" at the end. Hmmmm, I'm thinking it's a hardware issue. New battery is coming tomorrow so I'll see if it is that.
Got my new battery today and my phone is now working. Who'd have thought a dodgy battery would cause such weird issues?
Congratulations
