Stock ROM... no issues at all...
Sense UI/Cyanogen..currently running Cyanogen till Sense UI gets cleaned up
Normally, I am one to root as soon as it is unboxed, however, with this phone, I have not rooted it yet.
Mainly for the fact that it is working so well, I can't see why...
Now, I LOVE the dev's here and WILL root my phone once some of these ROM's are a bit more stable. I'm not saying they are bad, just that the features I use regularly are not working as well as I would like based on feedback.
As always though, the Dev's here step up and do a fantastic job getting things done and working, I will be compelled to root and mod... I can't wait for that day!

Thanks for letting me know... I'll be sure to watch for ya...
In all seriousness though, the stock ROM, at the moment, has its benefits over those that are out now.
Mainly, everything works (at least for me).
BT, Wi-Fi, Camera/Flash, sync and the list goes on and on...
Once ERE36B is release OTA, I am sure most of these custom ROM issues will clear up and there will be more reason to root and flash.
For now, just going to keep watching the forums.
I made it a whole day on the Desire Alpha 10, but the battery life was killing me. I really like the HTC Exchange integration and all the Sense widgets, but there were too many other trade offs.
I'm back on cynanogen. It's not flashy but everything works.
Not trying to Convince you to root your phone, or make an argument here, but in my own experience. The custom N1 ROMs that are up for grab right now are pretty stable. It does everything the stock ROM can do and more. Heck even Modaco's alpha version of the desire ROM is near perfect.
As far as picking my favorite though, of have to give it up to Enomther, and Cyanogen's N1 ROMs and Modaco's Desire ROM.
Can't thank these guys enough and all the devs here, that's making this a fun ride for all of us!

I feel like the Aria is slow with developments. NOT COMPLAINING, I love liberated and CM6 (awesome, btw) but when do you think new ROMS are going to come out?

New ROMS based on what??? We have HTC Sense ROMs for Eclair 2.1 and Froyo 2.2 and AOSP CM 6.1. What else are you looking?
Personally I hate visiting the other device forums because everybody and their brother has 'cooked' up another ROM (mostly just new themes or added favorite apps). IMO who has time to stiff through all the various ROMs and threads? I find it much easier to review 3 different ROM threads and try to help others than to try and go through 10 or 15 threads and seeing messages such as 'well this worked on this ROM but it doesn't on that ROM, why not?'
OK, I'll get off my soap box now...
I agree. Plenty of good variety in the ROMs we have.

There's nothing wrong with that actually. Sometimes it's a good thing because there are more people developing towards something greater. We have 1 or 2 guys doing all this work. There are some pretty badass ROMs for the more popular phones out there. If we had more people developing and cooking, we'd no doubt have something better than what we have even now.
Screw those giant phones.
But a little more ROMS would be cool, we just need more people with the Aria.
It's not a bad phone...hah.
What would you like to see in a new ROM?

Not too sure, as I have only had the Aria and used the two ROMS.
it's not a bad thing that we may only have 3 roms, but they are actually good quality roms, not just thrown together, and they are constantly being updated, but it would be kool if they had more help with them. Although i wish they had some people creating or porting themes, if i knew how i would, if anybody wanna help me learn, i wouldn't mind contributing by making themes for the aria, cause i kno i'm not the only one wishing they could have a theme to try out

+1 on themes
I recently rooted and installed CM6.1.0RC2, and only thing I'd say it's missing is Flash Lite compared to Sense. Wish there was a way to get Flash Lite on CM, sadly not possible. Still loving CM though. Might test Sense again when there's an official Froyo update from AT&T and attn1 has taken out all the bloatware.

Wait... why wait for the official ATT rom? It's going to be near identically the same as the Gratia ROM with 2.2 in it. You can go download it and flash it now.

Agreed. Waiting for the AT&T ROM to be released and then having someone remove the bloatware is pointless. What you will end up with is available now as Liberated FR07...
Sorry didn't mean the rom, meant the source kernel for attn1 to add and hopefully figure out why track wake isn't on plus all the other little things that's on his list that aren't in the current build.

From what I understand it's using the froyo kernel from the legend now.

That's right folks- get your supercharged Froyo sense goodness now with the newer kernel source released by HTC for the HTC legend. Everything works as far as I know, except for the built in wifi hotspot app for which we have replaced with the working Wireless Tether app thanks to the work of shakerhero. Final thanks go to attn1 and jznomoney for their hard work on the CM kernel, ladios for bundling up the kernel, trackpad wake fix, and wireless tether in a single, proper package.

I Just got a new Mytouch 4G Black after my nexus one broke and After Rooting the phone and playing around with some roms. I find it a lil odd that I still find the Stock Rom with Bloatware much better and cleaner rom than whats out there. Seems its fast its useful and entertaining to work with.
Has anyone else felt that way about the stock rom being superior to custom roms?
yes I do somewhat like the stock rom that was shipped. Only issue for me is I can use majority of the apps on there since Im not with tmobile. It is fairly fast and overall good performance. Ice glacier is basically same and then CM7 is nice as well. Not too many roms out there currently with the mytouch, missed the nexus one somewhat for roms. Other than that this phone is great, battery life typically two days with cm7
Agreed... A rooted Stock ROM is already great as is, and so far the only customized ROM I've been happy with is Iced Glacier, Its coz its pretty much stock without the bloatware. I remember the days of the Nexus One where I had to flash ROM's 2-3x a day. whew!

htc flash hero to Android 3.2 Ginger Bread or prefer to Android 2.2 Froyo
I wanted to ask how it is flashed to Android 2.3.Denn as I can read it here it is indeed the rom, but it is generally weak for the Hero? Or rather 2.2 flashed? For I bröchte already a rom, the but also in German
I still have Froyd Villain Rom but I read a lot of good about the 2.3 roms and I am waiting to change over as soon as the RC are done and Elelinux puts out a definite version of his rom(or Cyanogen).
For the german part, I decided for myself to go with english because it is easier to find as it is standart on the roms and it is also easier to describe with the english words when I have problems (also the descriptions use the english terms). As far as I know in most roms you can chose the language and it should work without problems...
but how do I braid at all? because I have 2.1 on it yet
I am not sure what you mean by braid, but if you mean root, than here you go:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4257045
The roms can be downloaded here in the forums and then just flash them as indicated.
pigtail I mean how can I flashed it?
I'm using latest version of Elelinux-7.0.0-RC1-Hero-v0.9 and it's running good so far
Will check GPS connectivity tonight on the way from the office

BTW: I just found this in this very forum http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=645253. I ll leave the other link in too (I hope thats ok) but you should find everything you are looking for in these guides.
I'm still on froyo but with a gingerbread theme. I'll probably wait until cm7 is final.

I think I'd very much prefer 2.3 Gingerbread
Will probably flash CM7 tonight just to check out... hopefully it will become final SOON ^^
BTW, I'm new on the forum
I prefer gingerbread using cm7 nightlies atm
I'm on the cm7 nighties too. The default keyboard alone makes 2.3 worthwhile!
First time ROM user....
I was at a loose end yesterday and ended up using ROM manager to install Elelinux 7.0.0 version of Gingerbread on my GSM HTC Hero, TMobile branded G2. I have been messing about with root and launcher pro/ADW for ages and was getting really bored with my Hero, too slow for lots of apps, too old etc. This ROM has given it a new lease of life and lots to play with. I haven't fully worked out what's what etc and am loathe to fill it up with lots of personalised settings and apps because I might well find myself flashing another ROM before long. Thanks be to Google for storing most of my stuff in 'the cloud' and making me NEVER have to lose my contacts again.
I am impressed with this ROM, no crashes, fast and efficient. Only a bit of graphics lag on swiping across screens.
Also, does anyone know why there is no pinch on homescreen to show miniature versions of the screens?
Thanks,
Hamish
Try putting two fingers in opposite corners of the screen and slide them to the center

I think Froyo is probably the fastest on Hero from what I've heard and personally experienced with a mix of Ele CM6.2 Speed, and Ele/Cronos Gingerbread builds.
The difference though, especially with Ele 1.1.1 for me at least who doesn't really have the animations and runs at 691MHz isn't enough for me to want extra speed by downgrading to 2.2. I'm happy enough eating some gingerbread everyday now, although it took a while!
Since my last post I realised that I was on 0.9. I then tried froyd villain but got scared. I now have 1.1.1 and it's great. One problem is the gps losing it's fix. Any ideas on how to fix?
I LOVE the new photo gallery and the camera seems better too.
Sent from my Hero using XDA App
There's a fix on post (change gps libs from CM7 nightlies..)
Perdita2000
I put gingerbread 2.3 on my hero and it was so much better for a while.
But now for some reason it has started to run a bit slow not loading the home screen. I have not able to figure out why yet.
Do not want to go back to 2.2 now.
Launcher pro does not seem to like gingerbread for some reason. keeps force closing.
Still learning android an dhow to troubleshoot and optimize.
Just so everyone knows I've been running miui 9.2 for about an hour now and no wifi drops. I didn't see it posted yet and can't post in that thread yet. Found it on rom manager.

Running flawlessly since early Friday, MIUI.us 9.2. It just keeps getting better. Kick-in wildstang83's DTR method, and it's a great Android experience. I've stuck with MIUI.us for a long time, and it's really grown to something beautiful.

it's a lot more pretty than CM7 in a lot of ways but it can have it's laggy/buggy moments, particularly the launcher (little on the slow side)
I use a different launcher anyways. I dont like the MIUI iPhone style icons.
When i first try the MIUI roms, it was an amazing rom, but by the updates and all, it get bugged and bugged, i get back to sense <3.
I ran MIUI when it first got released, did not really like it. I installed it again figuring i have a long weekend i will give it a run. Damn i think i'm in love. the customization is crazy and quick. the rom is buttery smooth. I am having a few problems with handcent and plume but nothing deal breaking. Great rom my new daily driver.
I also installed this rom over the weekend and so far so good. I have all my apps sorted in folders which makes things much easier
Have been running MIUI since May, updating every week with new releases and I can't go to another ROM. I have tried but I end up running right back to MIUI. Really amazing work.
I've been debating whether or not to install it, haven't been able to take the plunge yet. Looks like a great ROM tho
I have run miui quite a few times, but cm7 has always been the most reliable for me... just my opinion.

The key I've found to MIUI is to find a version that runs bug free on your phone and stick with it until another comes out with an update that you really care about. I generally keep the version I'm on for ~1 month because I don't want to deal with the chance of that weeks minor updates screwing something up.
Is it just me or is half this ROM in chineese. Have I messed up or is that just the nature of this ROM

It is a good Rom, the dev team knows what they are doing. However with a stock interface that leaves a lot to be desired in the customization department..... I switched to adw launcher.... then figured why not go back to cm7 that has adw as it's native launcher.....
Um, did you notice the theme manager?
