Hi!
I just passed to an android nand rom, before i had android from sd. It was very simple for me to install apps, i just passed the files .apk to the folder Android Apps in the folder of Android Sd and when i reeboted the phone the app was installed.
Now my question is, i have nand android and tried to place an .apk app in the root of the sd, reeboted, and nothing was installed.
I tried to search for an answer but nothing, can somebody please explain me how to install apps in this nand version?
And also.... how can i remove boot sound? i cannot enter in recovery mode... in the sd version i had the option to reebot in it by holding the power button (but really never worked), and now in nand version i have only the option to Reebot, Shutdown, or Put in silent mode.
Thanks!
Hmm..are you talking about installing typical apps or some special apps? cause for most of apps you can install them as simply as coping the .apk file to your SD or even download them directly from the web to your SD,then browse to where you copied/downloaded them using your file manager and simply click on the app to install it,or there is the hard way by using 'adb' and the command " install -s yourappname.apk".About that recovery issue, you can't access recovery mode from the power menu on HD2 android, however we do have a working recovery image in some other way,so you might wanna do some reading HERE first. Hope i helped or even understood you correctly,if you need more help just be more specific and i'll be glad to help you further.Cheers!

hi, i'm really glad you answered and i thank you..
my problem now is.. i don't have a file manager because i cannot install this famous apps like i did in the past with sd version. Usually i placed the apk file in AndroidApps and the app whas installed in automatic when i reeboted. Now in this nand version i don't have this folder and in rom i don't have a file manager... (still i don't understand why android doesn't have one in stock like wm had).... and so i cannot install nothing... i neither cannot access to phone storage because if i select the option when i connect the phone to connect with Htc Sync the phone gets stuck searching for Htc Sync in my computer... I don't know which is the solution now and i don't understand why nobody in forum speaks about this problem i have.
Thanks!

It's not really a problem, dude. simply go to market and install ANY file manager you like then you would be able to do whatever you want,i would recommend 'esfile manager' it nice one and works almost with every build. You can also do it using 'adb' on your pc.
"(still i don't understand why android doesn't have one in stock like wm had)"<--That will always be a wonder to me,it seems kinds stupid not to add it,maybe they depend on you to access market and get one yourself.
thanks
ok, thankyou mate. in all cases i'll try to flash another rom with the ClockworkMod Recovery, i've seen the video and it seems a very good program, also because of the backup and restore option, i really like it.
Ight, just make sure you are downloading a rom with the '.zip' format for clockwork not any nand build, not all of them are packed into '.zip' at least not yet.Glad i could help.

last question
a last question, i've seen that if i pass from a daf rom to a zip rom it's better if i whipe the system before flashing, maybe not wiping can cause issues, you know how to?
thanks
Sure, after you install clockwork you will find an option inside it's sub menu 'called wipe...something something' don't really recall, but it's there you will find all the instructions for clockwork in the thread for it.

Dear new friends,
I am a new owner of a pre-owned HTC Tattoo. It has a 2gb sd card.
I am also new to Android. Been a Nokia user all my life.
This newly acquired HTC Tattoo is on Android Version 1.6. No more warranty.
I am told if I "root" the phone, I can bring this phone up to Android 2.2. Here is where the knowledge stops.
Will some kind soul teach me how to do this without screwing things up?
e.g. how to back up all stuff before beginning to the end of the rooting process
I am totally new to this android and htc. Please have patience with me.

hey.
a ot of information can be found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=716282
i assume, that you have installed htc-drivers on your computer and are able to connect it via USB and use it as external storage.
first of all you should completely read this thread, because it is not sturctured or categorized.... to start you have to install install nandroid or clockworkmod...
an easy way is to install the ROM Manager, that can be found in Android's market.
>> market.android.com/details?id=com.koushikdutta.rommanager
consider, that the ROM Manager requires root-access to be completely usable! easiest way to root i know is maveric's 1click-root: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=950759
carefully read the readme and hopefully you're not afraid of using the command line
so, now you can install the ROM Manager and start it. when it's running choose the first menu-item: something like "ClockworkMod Recovery-installation".
From now on it should be assured, that your battery is fully charged and i would suggest to connect your phone via USB to your computer.
After this is done your are able to backup your phone. Therefore you have three possibilities:
1. Choose in ROM Manager the menu-item "Reboot into Recovery system"
2. Scroll down and choose "Backup current ROM"
3. Leave ROM Manager, shutdown your phone and turn it on again by keeping Power- and Home-button pressed until ClockworkMod starts (this results in the same as the first possibility)
I prefer possibility one or three so i'll continue on base of this.
In ClockworkMod you have different options, one of them is "Backup and restore" - choose this by using your green call-button. Then choose again "Backup" - now your backup should start and if it completes successfully, your complete data is saved on the phone. Reboot your phone, make it accessable as an external USB-drive and copy the folder \\sdcard\clockworkmod\ on your computer's disk. if anything fails, this is needed to restore your system with clockworkmod.
Now download your preferred custom rom from the list here - i'm using nFinityGB-0.93 and i'm really satisfied about this rom...
download the zip, copy it to the root path on your sdcard \\sdcard\nFinityGB-0.93.zip and for an easier handling rename it to update.zip.
now restart your phone to clockworkmod and and run both wipe-options: "wipe data/factory reset" and "wipe cache partition".
afterwards choose the option "apply update from sdcard" and confirm. now your renamed update.zip will be installed on the system. now reboot the system and a new rom should boot...
for nFinity you should also install the patches mentioned in the thread. these should be installed also by using clockworkmod: option "install zip from sdcard" >> "choose zip from sdcard" and apply the downloaded zip, that should have been stored on the sdcard
in each case always read the complete description in the thread and the readme of the used custom rom!
now enjoy your new rom...
besides that i would suggest to backup the used apps with appmonster to assure, that you don't forget which apps you've had installed
in case of any quesions let me know.
hope this helps.
wormix

Best of Luck. We are by your side.
i used the tattoo for more than one year with the original android 1.6
I hoped and will to receive an upgrade... but nothing arrived and nothing will...
when my hope began to lose and my tattoo began to die... i decided to use a custom rom.
Was a dawn of a new era.. now i love my tatto with the custom rom and is really really fast and can use a lot of things you can't imagine!
Special thanks to wormix500 and palimpala
I just wish to thank palimpala and wormix500 for guiding me along patiently to root and custom rom my tattoo. Without them I would not have received this Oscar award. of course my mum too. In case she is comes up behind me as I am reading this post.
tatto needs bigger keys!!

Sent from my HTC Tattoo using XDA App
Ok i am new to android just traded my iPhone 4 for a HTC HD2 and it already had android on it when i got it. and i have some problems.
Number one biggest problem is i only have a power cord. no USB cord.
Problem 2 is this Rom is to say the least .. ODD.
Comes with no dialer, SMS app or Contacts app. However there is an option under -Settings-Ultimate Droid Setting-Modified Apps- Then a button i can push to install these things but it "installs them" but nothing happens these things do not show up anywhere. I am using 3rd Party replacements from the market which are OK (i would still perfer the stock apps) but then i have a Contacts Problem. i can push the create contacts button all day long and i get NOTHING no matter what app i try to do it from. I can import them from my computer but that is SUPER annoying.
So to put everything in a quick rundown
Cannot Create Contacts
No Stock Dialer, SMS app, or contacts app.
No USB cord to change roms.
Now here is another problem i ran into before everyone tries to tell me how to do this.
My Phone does in fact have aMAGLDR V1.12 Build Feb 03:45:07 by Cotulla 2011
So i thought well ill just install Rom Manager and Flash to Different Rom.
BUT i ran into more issues...
I flashed ClockworkMod to my phone like i was suppose to so i could flash my rom that i found to my phone with Rom Manager. Says it installed and was successful
SO then i clicked Install ROM from SD Card like i was suppose to after moving the rom zip to my SD card directory like the tutorial i found said to do. it found it and i clicked it checked all the appropiate boxes and hit ok. it said booting into recovery mode and shut off. When it came back on i held down the Red button like i was suppose to so i could get to the aMAGLDR menu like i was suppose to. I selected "AD Recovery" and it showed "No Boot Sources".
SO ONCE AGAIN.. FAIL....
i need help correcting all these issues please as i am a noob.
Also if someone could suggest to me a HTC HD2 Android 2.3 rom thats pretty close to stock and has all stock apps in tact that would be AMAZING. i do need it to keep my UNLOCK though as it is a T-Mobile Model and i am using At&t.
ALSO Below i will post all my phones Specs.
P.S. i am Currently booting from NAND not SD
About Phone:
Model Number HTC Bravo (Its Actually an HTC HD2 just HTC BRAVO for the ROM Base)
Android Version 2.2.1
Baseband Version 15.34.50.07U_2.08.50.08_2
Kernal Version 2.6.32.15ocm_hastarin8.6N-gb02686c-dirtyroot(at Symbol)ocm#2
Build Number JDMS 1.6.2
Any other Questions. let me know. please and thank you for the help ALOT
Did you install the clockwork Rom Manager?
...you can't use the Rom Manager with magldr, it's just compatible with the clk bootloader.
I would suggest to start from the very beginning:
task 29:
flash magldr 1.13: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=893948
- Follow this tutorial until(including) step 1
flash the latest clockworkmod and the correct partition size: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=987531
For MAGLDR 1.13, booting from NAND:
Download the file attached and named "recovery_3.2.0.0_leo.img.zip"
Download a partition layout incl. recovery from this thread which fits your ROM you want to use best and unzip it into "C:\recovery" for example
Copy over "recovery_3.2.0.0_leo.img" from inside the zip archive into this folder "C:\recovery", delete existing "recovery-raw.img" and rename "recovery_3.2.0.0_leo.img" to "recovery-raw.img"
Flash the recovery and partition layout using "DAF.exe" as usual and described in the thread of raiderx or the ROM provider
Boot Recovery with menu point "8. AD Recovery"
You're done

flash rom. e.g. typhhon cm7: here you will need a 150mb partition size with 4mb cache.
Dear all,
I've just bought a HD2 from my friend. This phone is using windows mobile..i'm a newbie here and need your help to transform my device from windows mobile to android 2.3(Gingerbread). Kindly please let me know step by step process so that i can follow it thoroughly. I'm from Malaysia and cannot download from multiupload.. please upload using rapidshare or mediafire if there is any file i need to download.. Thank You Very Much..
If you don't have Hard SPL installed and the right Radio ROM, then you won't be able to flash stuff. You need HSPL2.08 to run Android / WP7 / MAGLDR:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=611433
The next thing you need is a Radio ROM that supports 512 MB RAM
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=611787
READ THOSE THRADS CAREFULLY AND FOLLOW ALL INSTRUCTIONS!
The first thing you have to do is go to this thread and download the HD2 Nand Toolkit from this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1090783
1. Then you'll need to turn off your HD2 and while pressing the volume donw key you need to press the power button in order to get to a three color screen (the bootloader).
2. Connect your HD2 to your PC and wait until you see USB at the end of your screen.
3. Start the Toolkit and press Task29. This will erase Windows Mobile.
4. Again go into bootloader (three color screen) and press install Magldr from Toolkit.
5. After that installation you need to hold down the power button while your HD2 is booting and you'll have the Magldr menu.
6. Choose point 4 "USB Flasher" and connect your phone to your PC.
7. Choose the right partition size for your NAND ROM on the left hand side from the Toolkit and your partition size (infos are available at the ROM thread of your choise).
8. By using a card reader or point 4 of Magldr menu ("USB storage") copy your ROM update .zip file to the root of your formated fat32 SD card.
9. Press update and let it work. Wait until your HD2 booted up again, chose menue point 8 "Ad Recovery" and this'll take you to Clockworkmod.
10. Choose "install update .zip" from that and then "choose zip"
11. Go to your rom file and let it work. After that you should be able to use Androind on NAND.
The post above mine is a very good post. But to be honest all you really need to do is to download the HD2 NAND Toolkit, the .zip file for the ROM of your choice, a radio version that is 2.08.50.?? or higher (this is only if you have EU HD2, T-Mobile HD2's don't need different radio), the Windows Mobile drivers that come with the Active Sync or Windows Mobile Device Center software from Microsoft, and if you want to use clk instead of MAGLDR you will need the Google Android drivers. For way more details on all of this click on the guide linked in my signature.
Also the you can use the HD2 NAND Toolkit to flash anything you need to use Android on your HD2.
hi..newbee here..
I make the change of my windws phone to android last year and it works fine but it lose the "look"of the htc like the clasic home page clock widget and weather feature, like sence, is there a fix for this or i will need another android program??
thnx!
Hopefully I understod you correctly
So you want "stock" HTC Android home screen? On which version are you? Sense version I mean? It's quite simple. On yyour home screen you'll only have to chose "+" in the left bottom. From there you're able to choose HTC widgets like the "stock" clock. Simply press on add a wigdet and choose your HTC clock.

Sounds like you are probably using a CM ROM, a ROM based off CM, or a ASOP ROM. These ROMs do not have HTC Sense. If you want the the same feel of the HTC Sense that was on the Windows Mobile ROMs then you will have to pick out a ROM that has HTC Sense in it, or what is referred to as Sense.
Hi, I've been having some trubles to find the way to first, update MaGLDR to 1.13, then install ClockworkMod Recovery and finally MIUI ROM. First I googled how to update MaGLDR to 1.13, but I couldn't follow the directions I found on the original thread, I didn't had ActiveSync. So I'm writing this thead so if someone has the same problems as I had, I hope this can help someone. And if you want to install any other ROM, this may be usefull too. I find the ROM installation from Recovery easier and faster then installing it by RUU, but, that's my opinion.
I want to make clear that all the files on this post are not my work, I just uploaded again, so you can find anything you need on this same post. I'll upload the MIUI ROM for HD2 too, I just want to add, that I rather this ROM for HD2 beacause it is very light and fast, but that's just my opinion too.
Before we begin, make sure your HD2 battery is at least 50% charge. So, let's begin.

As I mentioned it, my problem was to stablish an ActiveSync connection with the PC, so to solve that I've conected my HD2 on boot mode.
1. Connect your HD2 on boot mode(holding volume down key + Power button).
2. Wait for Windows to install drivers
3. Decompress the content of the file above on an empty folder
4. Rigth click on the ROMUpdateUtility.exe file and select Run as Administrator
5. Click the check box and click next, and repeat
6. Your phone will show a screen saying HTC with a progress bar for a little while, once it finishes it will restart, hold the power button so it shows the MaGLDR menu options, the option AD Recovery should be on the menu, and there you got, you just updated MaGLDR to 1.13 version.

Before you choose which file to download here is an explanation from the original thread.
Q. I dont know which partition size to download
A. Depending on what type of roms you plan on using, you should choose the partition size based on the following.
150MB Partition - For bare roms including CyanogenMod, AOSP, and MiUI
250MB Partition - For Standard sense roms including Desire and EVo based ROMs, can also be used for some squashed HD builds
400MB Partition - For Larger roms including unsquashed Desire HD and Z roms, ROMs REQUIRE data2sd for EU HD2 with 512MB NAND

4. Select choose zip from sdcard

Hey thanks for this guide, it is the most easiest guide on installing ROM's on the HD2.
I have always run into problems when installing ROM , it always some error, because the MAGLDR file or some
other file is the wrong version etc
I have send days trying to find a quick and problematic free and best way to install ROM's on the HD2,
right now I am on my second HD2 and I am trying to install the latest's Miui ROM's on it,
the first HD2 stop working after I flash it the last time with ROM's and the phone keep freezing frequently, and most time I would have to remove
the battery which eventually damage one of the battery connecting pin, I send it to a repair shop and they made a mess of it
now I have it for parts.thank again.....
No problem

Maybe I missed about HD2Toolkit, but the steps I wrote, I executed them on Windows 7 and it all worked perfectly several times, and yet indeed you need either the drivers, that I downloaded throught Windows Update, or ActiveSync from the HTC webpage, or you can just google them, but I agree on the fact that Windows XP is better when flashing any device, and HD2Toolkit, if you can get your hands on it, is a very useful set of tools, depending on what you want to do
Thanks a lot Hitman1376
Glad to hear that ...

I installed this MAGLDR (it says aMAGLDR v1.13 at the top), but cannot set AD SD dir, when I go to Services->BootSettings, highlight 3. AD SD Dir and press left button (Green?) it goes straight to MAGLDR home, giveing me no option to choose folder.
Partitions on my SD card:
1. Unallocated - 8MB
2. FAT32 - 17,2GB
3. Ext4 - 1GB
4. Ext4 - 4.1GB
5. Unformatted - 7GB
If I understand right it should see 2 as /sdcard and (after flash of Android) - 3 as /system and 4 as /data?
Forgot setting FAT32 as primary... idiot...
