I've been happily using Typhoon CMD7 2.7 for months now, with no major problems. I hadn't updated because the ROM ran so well and I work 3 jobs and have almost no free time.
Recently while running the stock media player, the phone has developed this tendency to suddenly pause the music if turned upside-down (i.e., to go in my pocket) and I'd have to take the phone back out and turn the music back on.
Well, not this time.
This time, it flat-out froze while playing a song. I shrugged it off and removed + replaced the battery, only now the phone no longer boots. The furthest it gets is past GO GO GO!, and then it hangs at the black & green HTC screen basically forever.
-Typhoon CMD7 2.7.2 from SD
-MAGLDR 1.13
-Clockworkmod Recovery (Don't remember which, but seems to be working fine)
-Radio 2.15.something (I can no longer check)
Prior to installing Typhoon, I followed the forum's advice (task29, partition, etc).
I have tried reinstalling the same Typhoon ROM and backing up my settings to install Typhoon 3.5 + wipe cache and fix permissions, etc.
I read another thread in which someone was able to stop boot-death by booting without their SIM. I tried; no difference.
I've noticed I can no longer access the HTC bootloader (vol-up + boot; this is why I can't tell you /exactly/ what radio is on there). I used to be able to switch between MAGLDR and the tri-colour bootscreen with no issue.
Any ideas what kind of issue this could be?
Is it worth trying a different ROM to see if the problem is unique to Typhoon?
I'm hoping this recent inescapable crash is just a ****up of mine instead of a hardware issue.
Advice and ideas would be greatly appreciated.
You guys are great. Thanks for all your hard work (and your patience with all the questions!)

I've currently installed the latest HSPL (2.08.HSPL) and it haven't fixed my issues.
Most of the time, my phone shuts down and powers up and it freezes or it vibrates 3 times and freezes. Some times it will turn on and freeze and infinite vibrating. Some times when I'm using Opera, it will just shutdown and freeze on boot.
It have to be the OS, but I just installed GingerBread 2.3.2_V7 but it still freezes and crashes.
Any help?
Thank you.
Try reinstall HSPL 2.08
Do it through bootloader mode/tri color screen remember
Then perform a task 29
Reinstall a radio for your TMOUS HD2, that is compatible with MAGLDR or HSPL.
Then install winmo or MAGLDR. Through tri color screen also.
Or it might be your sd card, Iunno, i've been reading some sd cards freeze the device. So you might as well format your sd card with panasonic formatter. Full format btw.

I think you downloaded and copied a sd Card build to your phone. If it was a NAND ROM you would not have thois problem, plus I just did a search on GingerBread 2.3.2_V7 in the Andriod section for the HD2 and it only pulled up a biuld called "PPC-SHIFTPDA GingerBread 2.3.2 V7 & Desire HD Sense Glass V2", and this is a sd card build. looks like a very nice one too. Click on the link to comfirm that this is correct ass it should take you to the thread on that build.
You can do two things, either try uninstalling the last couple of apps you have resently installed most recent to least recent. This might solve your problem as it might be an app causing the issue.
The other is to do a Hard Reset of your HD2. Now make sure to move anything you want to save like pictures, videos, documents, etc. to your sd card or back them up on a computer first. also use Mycrosoft My Phone or a comprabale app to back up your contacts, favorites, text messages, ect. Cause this will revert your HD2 to like it was fresh brand new fresh out the box. Any way my sugestion to you is to do a Hard Reset of your HD2. tTo do this cut your HD2 off. then hold down the volume up and down buttons and the power button at the same time until you see the tri color screen. once it comes upo press the volume up button and the your HD2 will reset to factory setting.
Now after you do the reset don't just try to reload all of your apps at once.I suggest you do a soft reset(turn phone off for 20 secounds and turn back on) after ever app you reinstall. Reinstalling all your apps at once can cause your HD2 to freeze up on the first reboot of the phone because it is overloaded with the task of making all the needed changes at once using up all of it's CPU resources. This sould resolve your issue.
I did a task 29 and installed WinMo
I still get the 7 vibrate thing on boot. I've found that it only does this when the phone is hot. Is this an error found in every HTC HD2 TMOUS model or is it just me?
Thank you
My HD2 has NAND flashed with Android rom 2.3.4 and I have a problem about the shutdown case. After I pressed "shutdown" to turn off the phone, it will automatically start again. But I don't charging the phone at that time. I have to take out the battery for turn off the phone. And after I put the battery back into the phone, it will also automatically turn on again (without press any button).
I know the problem with magldr that only cannot shutdown the phone when charging. But in my case is it cannot shutdown without charging.
(I also tried other roms before any this issue also happened)
(I used task29 for any new rom flash before)
Any one has suggestions or comments so that I can fix it Thanks.
Well you say you tried task 29, reinstalling MAGLDR, and it still doesn't help. I doubt flashing a new radio will help, but it's all or nothing. Maybe you could test if your phone works properly in winmo also, try a winmo rom, or the stock one. If it suffers from the same problem in android, then you know there's something wrong with the hardware I guess.
Hi gurus, hope someone can help.
I have this issue after flashing rom on this hd2 (brand TIM, italian provider). I have unlocked it for other network operators and tried with 3 of them.
This is the procedure I have done multiple times to see is I was able to have a stable version.
- HSPL3 and HSPL4 (this last time) > i intall theSPL-2.08. HSPL
- Radio Leo 2.15.50.14 or Radio Leo 2.15.50.14
- Task 29
- MAGLDR113
- ClockworkMod Recovery (the ones suggested by rom's author)
- Roms (at least 7 different, all > 2.3.X, tried italian roms with gps fix for my location)
THE ISSUES:
- everytime i run application that requires GPS the phone freezes.
- when I use 3G it freezes, mainly when I access or download from the market
- using gps/3g combined, clearly freezes
- long call, sometimes it freezes
WHILE FLASHING (one or the other):
- sometimes radio stop at 96%, have to do recovery and then it finishes flashing
- I can't never see R 2.15.50.14 at bottom of the screen with green HTC Logo. ( but I see it as Basebrand version when the phone's on)
- MAGLDR113doesn't load correctly everytime, it stops with no menu or the phone loops on the white with green HTC Logo.
- Installing Recovery doesn't always reboot the phone automatically
- MAGLDR113freezes oftenly while accessing 8. AD recovery.
AFTER FLASHING (sometimes):
- MAGLDR113 freezes with 1E Fatal error or at GO GO GO!
- when it happens I have to do the remove battery and so.. for many times before Android loads correctly.
- If I wait 5 minutes after it freezes for any reason it loads within the first attempt.
MY QUESTIONS:
Ok, I know it a lot of stuff and I'm going to bore some of you but any help will be really appreciated.
- even if with some of the errors above I have flashed more or less 10 times, could it be an hardware issue?
- what may cause GPS/3G issue? the radio or waht?
- as I can't see radio version on white start with htc logo is this a problem?
- any idea or other people has this issue?
Thanks in advance
ciao
Marco
is it getting hot?
I'm afraid this is related to a hardware issue. I have the same thing. Whenever I use gps (or other long demanding applications) the hd2 gets hot. I managed to increase the uptime by using a lower clockspeed (422MHz) with setcpu app. And using external cooling (placing the phone in front of my airvent in my car, aircon on)
FYI, when the freeze happens I have to leave it switched off for a while to cool down or else it freezes during the reboot
Read this thread for possible DYI solutions (planning to it my self as well)

My problem fixed
It was solved by changing the CPU board. I bought a hd2 with broken display. Didn't have any hangs since
Hello, my friend brings me HTC HD2 T8585 yesterday. It seems like it's not T-mobile (white "call" and "end" buttons, no t-mobile label on the top). It freezes on "Energy star", just writes ROM and radio version on the bottom left and freezes. Now it has radio 2.09.51.xxx. If I try to update it to xx.50.xx it stops switching on, recognising by USB and charging at all. Totally bricked. But I have found strange way to reanimate it. I'm pulling battery out (for 5-10 minutes), reset HD2 few times by red button, insert it back, push reset few times again, plug USB cable inside, charging battery 5 minutes by external 5V adapter is also helps sometimes (now it has 3.85V), and sometimes it possible to switch it on (1 time on 10 tryings). When it switched on, it's possible to update radio back to xx.51.xx version and after that it switches on very distinctly, but freezes on Energy star again (it refuses to boot any flashed rom). It's possible to install android on this HTC with xx.50.xx radio. I did it and it works (but freezes then I'm trying to make a call). Of course to boot android on xx.50.xx I need to pull and insert battery, press reset and make special magic dance...
I have a loop here: to boot android I need new Radio Update.
To switch the phone on without magic spells I need old 2.09.51 Radio.
Sometimes it's possible to boot firmware on 2.09.51. I don't know how i got it, but after 5 minutes of freezing on "energy star" it booted up stock firmware i flashed before.
I don't know what to do. Is it hardware failure?
I'm not sure what you have, but there's no "energy star" on my device?!
any screenshots for the device/the screen that it freezes on?

by energy star, do you mean the energy rom boot screen? The energy rom WILL NOT boot with a ..51.. radio. It must have a ..50.. radio for it to work.
OR - have you been flashing custom boot screens? there is an 'energy star' bootscreen, made to look like a PC bios boot screen, is that what you mean?
flashing a radio without HSPL, , you are mistaken, that cannot be done.
we need more direct info to help, i'm afraid. Screen shots or at least full filenames of what you have flashed LAST would be great.

Okay I'll try to tell full story. This phone was previosly updated to custom W.M. 6.5 rom (by my friend's friend I don't know him directly). I don't know which rom he used. May be he changed splash screen (wow I found it! i always thought it's real boot time proccess for HTC HD2 ) . Yesterday my friend brought this phone to me with two problems: 1: slow and not stable booting (sometimes it freezed on splash screen 2: After (and if) it loads WM, it crashes in very short time to screen full of green colour. So I tryed to install Hyper Droid. First I downloaded HSPL4 and updated HSPL from 1.66.0000 to 2.08.HSPL . After that I tryed to install MAGLDR and phone showed only Energy Star splash screen. After short googling I decided to update radio. After updating it to 2.15.50 phone switched off and i was not able to switch it on (like described in this post). I disconnected battery and after few tryings it switched on and loads MAGLD, i prepared partition (150MB file) and update zipped rom from SD card. Between these steps I disconnected battery many times, because it was impossible to switch phone on after reboot. I spend about 2 hours and Android was installed but phone freezed after 2 minutes (charging animation stoped and it didn't respond on buttons). Also I got 100% freezing then I tryed to make a call.
I tryed different version of Radio (about 7) and found 2.x.51.x working more stable (phone switching on by pressing button or connecting usb cable) . 2.x.50.x all have same switching on issues ;( . Now I updated HSPL to 3.03.HSPL and found that it (?) resolved issue with charging LED (it stayed ON after usb cable disconnecting) . Now I'm downloading stock 1.66 region free firmware and will try to flash it..
newbies can't make link to photos

I found LEO of my friend is from Singapoure (thanks this) ) s/n: SH0CLNW03xxx . I tryed my s\n on htc singapoure support site and now i'm downloading original firmware!
After further researching I decided this phone has battery/mainboard failure. It freezes and makes green screen of death randomly, especialy often under high power consuption or while disconnecting USB cable. I flashed Rom directly from SD card, because usb update didn't work for me. Now it has stock firmware with stock splash screen. 3.03.0000 SPL and 2.15.50 radio. I'm giving up. Thank you all, here are a lot of useful information.
Did you do a hard reset after flashing the stock ROM. if that didn't do the trick, you could send it to maintenance now that it has stock WinMo on it.
Yes i did hard reset, it didn't help, I think it's need a bit work with soldering dryer. May be CPU or other chip has bad connection to mainboard... I've found i can get 100% GSOD by shacking phone or knocking its back cover. I don't know why it has difference with 51 and 50 radio. Now if it's freezed i'm pulling out the battery for one minute, and it switches on with 95% warranty. With radio 51 it switches on without need of battery removing.
Hey guys.
I have a bricked HTC HD2 here. I installed Android 2.2 on it, and it ran fine for a long time. But a few days ago, it got stuck in a bootloop. It gets stuck on the Android logo and doesn't get past that point at all.
What I've tried (in chronological order):
1. AD Hardreset from aMAGLDR: erased all data, but didn't fix the problem. Kept going in bootloop.
2. AD Recovery: Failed. Doesn't get past the "GO GO GO!!"
3. Repair aMAGLDR using HD2 NAND toolkit: tried repairing (150MB partition size) and installing Clockwork Mod (150MB). Same exact results when trying to get into AD recover. Only diffrence is that I now don't have a ROM on my NAND anymore.
4. Install a diffrent rom: Tried a few of them, but they all keep getting stuck on their bootlogo (HTC, Android, ...).
5. Restore STOCK ROM WM6.5: I'd love to, but I can't get into the three-colors-bootscreen. It goes straight to aMAGLDR, even when I boot holding the right buttons (volume down + power [both short click and long hold]). I had set up the ROM files correctly on the SD card.
6. Install the STOCK ROM using the HD2 NAND TOOL: after going to USB Flash mode and installing the default microsoft drivers (it didn't want to accept the Google Android drivers or HTC drivers I downloaded earlier), the flash utility keeps getting stuck on ERROR 264: CONNECTION. The only thing I can do in the HD2 NAND UTILITY is repair aMAGLDR. Other options result in the same error. Task29 can't find the phone either.
Bottom line, I cannot (ABSOLUTELY not) get into the tri color boot screen. It sends me straight to magldr. Also, my volume buttons are working just fine.
I really don't know what to do anymore. I hope someone can help me, any help would be greatly appreciated
Did you try this?
Download an original win 6.5 ROM for your HTC device from HTC webside.
- Take "RUU_signed.nbh" from an original ROM and copy it to your SD card.
- Rename to "leoimg.nbh"
- Reset your device while pressing the volume down button

Did you even read the OP's post, clearly I think not. The OP says several times that they can not get the device to the multicolor WINCE bootloader.Without being ably to boot into the bootloader they can notflash via SD card.
At the OP you can stop trying to flash via USB flasher in MAGLDR, it is only for flashing Android RIMs, WP7 ROMs, and Custom Android recoveries. If you are positive your volume down button works then you probably have some bad NAND blocks, but that is just a guess, with out access to the bootloader you are pretty much only left with flashing Android or WP7 via USB flasher in MAGLDR.
That's problematic... The HD2 NAND utility can't flash any ROMs, since the utility can't find the device (error 264).
I've tried 8 diffrent ROMS (from http://android.hd2roms.com/) by putting them on the SD card and use the "AD SD boot" function, but none of them can get past their bootlogo... All ROMs keep hanging on HTC / Android logos. Some of them used to work in the past, I recall...
Here, try these fixes and read the WHOLE POST :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=21725062&postcount=7
Thanks for the link. Unfortunately, none of the solutions worked. The battery pins were indeed bent, but after putting them back in place, the problem persisted.
I left my phone powered down all night and tried booting it in bootloader this morning. It didn't work. So that rules out solution 3 awell.
I've even put it in the freezer for half an hour (solution 5), but nothing changed.. Browsed through the last thread aswell, but there was no stuff I haven't tried yet. I can't even start tetris, since it keeps hanging on a blank screen aswell
The guy in solution #4 was facing the same issue (I think).
Especially the second part of the solution, where he talks to the OP. Read it carefully, and check out the post and thread he referred to.
Holy freakin..
After reading various threads through links in the one you suggested, I stumpled upon something called American Android. I was able to install it through the USB Flasher. Guess what, it booted PERFECTLY!!
My phone works again, thank you VERY much!!

horayyy for the HD2 & for the guys that gave the solutions!
need information in case of not getting into the bootloader
how can I use the american android + USB flasher method to work for my hd2 if
I am not able to boot it,
can't soft/hard reset it,
can't get into the bootloader (using volume down + end key pressed).
I used android installed on SD card.
It is totally unresponsive for now. volumn keys worked perfectly when it is was working lastly !
Please tell what can bo done to it to get it working or where does the problem lies.
check your battery pins and also battery if it is charged.
and,
Download an original win 6.5 ROM for your HTC device from HTC webside.

and then you can try an android rom again..
Another solution?
I had the exact same problem. And I am under the impression that there is no solution for every case. But for me it worked to press the volume down button very softly. I tended to push the button as hard as I could, however when I only pressed the volume down button slightly it went straight to the triboot color.
Hopefully this works for some of you.
Can someone help?
Hi,I want to refresh post, becouse i have exact same problem - can't get to serial bootloader, and in MAGLDR i can use only the USB FLASHER option. If someone could tell me how to flash any new rom only through FLASHER ? Last thing i can say: my problem started from installing this app from google Play play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=eu.chainfire.livelogcat.lite (sry for that, but I can't post URL yet) it might messed up my kernel and i have no idea what to do.
