[Q] HD2 cannot shutdown (reboot again without charging)(NAND rom) - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

My HD2 has NAND flashed with Android rom 2.3.4 and I have a problem about the shutdown case. After I pressed "shutdown" to turn off the phone, it will automatically start again. But I don't charging the phone at that time. I have to take out the battery for turn off the phone. And after I put the battery back into the phone, it will also automatically turn on again (without press any button).
I know the problem with magldr that only cannot shutdown the phone when charging. But in my case is it cannot shutdown without charging.
(I also tried other roms before any this issue also happened)
(I used task29 for any new rom flash before)
Any one has suggestions or comments so that I can fix it Thanks.

Well you say you tried task 29, reinstalling MAGLDR, and it still doesn't help. I doubt flashing a new radio will help, but it's all or nothing. Maybe you could test if your phone works properly in winmo also, try a winmo rom, or the stock one. If it suffers from the same problem in android, then you know there's something wrong with the hardware I guess.

I need help if anyone knows.
friend somehow managed to screw up your hd2. Artemis is injected into a rom, I think it was based on 3.14. HSPL previously done, it seems that something is not coincidence and not the phone can not start. that turns the gray screen that says
Flash type5510BCAD
Power Reason 6
BOOTUP_W_WARM_RESET
After a few seconds starts to rise wm that appears yellow screen on which writes the windows and knocks.
I tried different ROMs oficial and cooked, the PCIJ and the SD, Task 29 and nothing fails. go per cent during the installation and just get out of it. SD will not even try.
If someone has an idea
thanks
Its hard to fully understand whats happening with the phone from your descriptiond
Try removing the sd card, task 29 then a stock rom from.
As the phone boots, I don't think its a major issue

I am with member jobnerz on this one. It is a little hard to fully understand your issue here but I think I know what you are saying. As mentioned above put your HD2 into bootloaded by turning the Pbone off and holding the volume down button and briefly pressing the power button but keep the volume down button pressed until you see the bootloader appear.Connect you HD2 to the computer via USB cable and wait until you see the serial in the bottom white bar on your phone screen change to USB. When you see USB run a task 29. Then cut the obone off and put it back into bootloader and wait for the USB at the bottom again then flash the ROM you want.

[Q] HTC HD2 T8585 freezing issues after flashing to any radio xx.50.xx

Hello, my friend brings me HTC HD2 T8585 yesterday. It seems like it's not T-mobile (white "call" and "end" buttons, no t-mobile label on the top). It freezes on "Energy star", just writes ROM and radio version on the bottom left and freezes. Now it has radio 2.09.51.xxx. If I try to update it to xx.50.xx it stops switching on, recognising by USB and charging at all. Totally bricked. But I have found strange way to reanimate it. I'm pulling battery out (for 5-10 minutes), reset HD2 few times by red button, insert it back, push reset few times again, plug USB cable inside, charging battery 5 minutes by external 5V adapter is also helps sometimes (now it has 3.85V), and sometimes it possible to switch it on (1 time on 10 tryings). When it switched on, it's possible to update radio back to xx.51.xx version and after that it switches on very distinctly, but freezes on Energy star again (it refuses to boot any flashed rom). It's possible to install android on this HTC with xx.50.xx radio. I did it and it works (but freezes then I'm trying to make a call). Of course to boot android on xx.50.xx I need to pull and insert battery, press reset and make special magic dance...
I have a loop here: to boot android I need new Radio Update.
To switch the phone on without magic spells I need old 2.09.51 Radio.
Sometimes it's possible to boot firmware on 2.09.51. I don't know how i got it, but after 5 minutes of freezing on "energy star" it booted up stock firmware i flashed before.
I don't know what to do. Is it hardware failure?
I'm not sure what you have, but there's no "energy star" on my device?!
any screenshots for the device/the screen that it freezes on?

by energy star, do you mean the energy rom boot screen? The energy rom WILL NOT boot with a ..51.. radio. It must have a ..50.. radio for it to work.
OR - have you been flashing custom boot screens? there is an 'energy star' bootscreen, made to look like a PC bios boot screen, is that what you mean?
flashing a radio without HSPL, , you are mistaken, that cannot be done.
we need more direct info to help, i'm afraid. Screen shots or at least full filenames of what you have flashed LAST would be great.

Okay I'll try to tell full story. This phone was previosly updated to custom W.M. 6.5 rom (by my friend's friend I don't know him directly). I don't know which rom he used. May be he changed splash screen (wow I found it! i always thought it's real boot time proccess for HTC HD2 ) . Yesterday my friend brought this phone to me with two problems: 1: slow and not stable booting (sometimes it freezed on splash screen 2: After (and if) it loads WM, it crashes in very short time to screen full of green colour. So I tryed to install Hyper Droid. First I downloaded HSPL4 and updated HSPL from 1.66.0000 to 2.08.HSPL . After that I tryed to install MAGLDR and phone showed only Energy Star splash screen. After short googling I decided to update radio. After updating it to 2.15.50 phone switched off and i was not able to switch it on (like described in this post). I disconnected battery and after few tryings it switched on and loads MAGLD, i prepared partition (150MB file) and update zipped rom from SD card. Between these steps I disconnected battery many times, because it was impossible to switch phone on after reboot. I spend about 2 hours and Android was installed but phone freezed after 2 minutes (charging animation stoped and it didn't respond on buttons). Also I got 100% freezing then I tryed to make a call.
I tryed different version of Radio (about 7) and found 2.x.51.x working more stable (phone switching on by pressing button or connecting usb cable) . 2.x.50.x all have same switching on issues ;( . Now I updated HSPL to 3.03.HSPL and found that it (?) resolved issue with charging LED (it stayed ON after usb cable disconnecting) . Now I'm downloading stock 1.66 region free firmware and will try to flash it..

I found LEO of my friend is from Singapoure (thanks this) ) s/n: SH0CLNW03xxx . I tryed my s\n on htc singapoure support site and now i'm downloading original firmware!
After further researching I decided this phone has battery/mainboard failure. It freezes and makes green screen of death randomly, especialy often under high power consuption or while disconnecting USB cable. I flashed Rom directly from SD card, because usb update didn't work for me. Now it has stock firmware with stock splash screen. 3.03.0000 SPL and 2.15.50 radio. I'm giving up. Thank you all, here are a lot of useful information.
Did you do a hard reset after flashing the stock ROM. if that didn't do the trick, you could send it to maintenance now that it has stock WinMo on it.
Yes i did hard reset, it didn't help, I think it's need a bit work with soldering dryer. May be CPU or other chip has bad connection to mainboard... I've found i can get 100% GSOD by shacking phone or knocking its back cover. I don't know why it has difference with 51 and 50 radio. Now if it's freezed i'm pulling out the battery for one minute, and it switches on with 95% warranty. With radio 51 it switches on without need of battery removing.

[ISSUE] HD2 keeps rebooting just before WinMo starts

My trusty old HD2 appears to be having an issue lately:
It refuses to boot into the OS. It will show the HTC splash screen (with the ROM versions etc.) and when it gets to the 'quietly brilliant' splash screen, it turns off and begins all over again. This happened when it was completely stock, with the latest official HTC ROM installed
I tried the following to fix it:
- bought a new battery
- re-adjusted the battery pins
- re-installed new stock ROM
- installed HSPL 3.03
- installed MAGLDR
- ran TASK29
The problem still persists. I can get into the coloured screen bij holding VOL-down and power, so I can install new ROMS. But whatever I install, it keeps rebooting when I try to start it. MAGLDR also refused to load after install. Holding down poer button at startup didn't bring up the MAGLDR options screen.
Does anyone have an idea of what the cause of the problem could be and how to solve it? Or is my phone simply bricked?
Thanks!
Hello there, I had similar problem last year with my phone. I sent my phone back to HTC. It turned out the mainboard for the phone is malfunctioning. Maybe you want to send the phone back to HTC if it is still under warranty?
I certainly hope that is not the issue here, because the device is out of warranty already for some time I'm affraid...
Did they tell you which part of the mainboard was potentially malfunctioning?
Try the fridge test: put HD2 in clear bag & seal it & leave in fridge for a 3-4hrs & then boot it & keep it in fridge as much as possible.
If it boots normally or further than before the fault would be CPU BGA failure which is quite common.
If problem persists even when cooled in fridge it could be memory error issue, perhaps a tast 21 & reflash could help & flashing OEM ROM complete with SPL & Radio to test further.
Excuse my ignorance, but what is the CPU BGA? And if it has failed, how can I rescue it, if at all?
I already tried Task29, original ROM/Radio flash and new SPL, but that didn;t appear to solve the problem...
It is the soldering of the CPU (snapdragan) to mainboard).
They can be reworked but this is not always successful, mainboard replacement is best option unless you know someone skilled in reworking.
cold test and report outcome, good thing with cold test is sometimes you can get device to run well enough to make a SPB backup making it easy to restore as is on new or repaired device without data loss & painfull setup process.
you need hspl 2.08 for magldr to work properly
Remove your sim card. I have this issue from time to time on my HD2 running WP7. Always rebooting at the Quietly brilliant screen. I removed the SIM card and voila, it booted. Plug it in the USB wall charger, and remove the SIM card.
I tried removing the SIM and the SD cards but that didn't make any difference unfortunately... I'll try the fridge option tonight.
If fridge test still gets same reboot then flashing full & correct ROM for your device from SD card may be an idea.
As pointed out by others your HSPL & MAGLDR could be to blame.
Flashing full ROM with radio, SPL from SD results in everything getting overwriten, including HSPL & from test purposes perspective this is good.
most times, rebooting right at the start is a bent battery pin.
Like I said, I checked the battery pins and bought a new battery to no avail. I bent them further backwards and further forwards, both didn't help.
I tried the fridge test, and after 2 hours in the freezer the phone was 'well cooled' shall we say, however the problem persisted! It reboots at the exact same time as before. Might this indicate that it is NOT the dreaded BGA problem?
Fridge result would be good indication not heat related to BGA failure.
Only thing you can do is try a few different flashing procedures of WM6.5.
Try 2.08 HSPL & an Energy ROM & a radio & test. try original ROM flashed from SD & test.
try booting with charger connected, sim SD in/out ect, I know you done this all before but running through it again systematically & without MAGLDR/HSPL3.03 may yield a clue or resolve it.
If unlucky it is hardware such as bad memory

[Q] Locked HTC HD2

H,
I'm having a problem with my HTC HD2.
It was running Android, but after a reboot the HTC does not start up anymore completely, it stops in the first screen.
I can't access the HTC via USB, can't get the tri color screen, but can acces the MAGDLR menu when I keep the power button pressed.
In the MAGDLR menu I tried to re-install the Android ROM, but this does not solve the problem.
Also tried to have the HTC for several hours/days without battery, but also no luck.
Anybody any idea what the problem can be, and how this can be solved ?
Thanks
When you did a reboot the first time, did you remove the battery?
If yes, check the battery pins on your phone.
Thanks, pins are ok. Also switched battery, and had the phone without battery several days.
Htc was working with android for 3 months till i turned of the power normally and rebooted. Than it got stucked in the first screen
Can you move up and down when you get in in magldr? What are you last flashing?
Moving up and down in Mgld is no problem, on the USB Flash I could re/install the ROM.
But no changes, phone is not booting any further than the first screen

HTC HD2 automatically turns on when battery is inserted

Hi,I have a problem with my HTC hd2 which is when I insert the battery the phone boot up without me even pressing the on button. So was just wondering is there anyone that knows a fix for this problem I'm facing?thanx
Sorry but your problem is strange for me, I suggest you to reset all the phone starting with the task29 to erase the internal rom.
Make a backup of anything you want first then i would start with just a fresh download and install of the ROM your using. If that don't work then I would suggest what adone.h has said to try. Don't forget to wipe data, cache, and delvic if using Android.
Ok thanx for that adobe.h and htccraze, I will give then both a try and keep u posted on what happens.thanx
hmmmm i thought it was common for HD2 to do that or is it only during those HSPL/ radio update this would happen.
OK mengfei, but when i flash a new android rom the nand way and its all booted up and everything, then i press the power button i dont get the screen so the turn the phone off or restart it.Any answers?
Eject battery, let it out for some minutes.
Reset the OS.
If these things above won't work, you have to install a new OS (maybe bootloader has some problems, too). I had this problem, too. Got rid of it by removing the battery for a longer time. Now everything is fine.
it's a weird phenomenom
i got the same problem when i firstly got the HD2
but it automatically disappeared last month after i flash several wp7 roms
I have the same problem
It is a hardware problem in the digitiser/cable/button area.
My touch screen failed, when I got the repaired phone, I had the same symptoms - battery in phone on. Also pressing just the volume down button would boot into the tri-colour screen. This happened with windows or android flashed into nand.
Odd thing was that running the key test function in magldr seemed to work and the power button operated normally as far I could tell when powered up into windows or android.
I sent the phone back for repair again and got a refurb replacement.
I have tried to flash a windows 7 Rom to cure the problem mario_net,but when I trying to flash the Rom it just keeps coming up error near the end of the flashing process.Have u any answers people?
CR5N,just wondered how do u do the key test function in magldr?

Apologies, it is under advanced -> key test in cwm (I'm on 5.0.2.6) accessed via magldr recovery.
Let it out for some minutes don't insert battery immediately after removed.
