[Q] Can't send Pics Via MMS Justice ROM - Droid X General

Hello... noob here... searched the forum, hopefully I didn't miss the solution somewhere...
I loaded JRummy's Justice 1.0 ROM on my friends' Droid X. He cannot send picture messages via MMS... the envelope keeps showing it as sending, but it never sends.
I had the same problem on my Droid X when I loaded Justice onto my phone... I googled it .. and found the solution.. which was to delete a file. Sadly, I cannot re-create the google search I used to find the answer for my phone, nor can I remember which file to delete.
There is a similar post on here, which states "turn of WiFi and it will work"... That's great, but I'm looking for the solution that actually fixes the problem, rather than the work around.
I do remember it had to do with deleting a SMS/MMS file that is re-created by the OS when the app re-starts.
Any ideas?

An app that auto sends sms messages?

Hi,
So I searched the forums and found no answer so I'm asking here.
I'm looking for an application that will send a message at any time you want it to. So for example you could write the message ahead of time, set the time and day for someones birthday let's say and then leave it be and when the time comes it sends automatically.
Anyone know of an app out there that does this?
Thanks
Apparently - though I've not tried it myself - the O2SMSPLus utility will allow the sending of scheduled SMS messages.
Have a read of THIS - the last post contains a download link.
Hope that helps,
Mark.
Thanks.
Scheduling sms messages. That's exactly the kind of thing I'm looking for but the app just doesn't work on my device.
Nothing happens when I try to start it.
You don't say what device you've got, but judging by your location, your mobile operator and the forum you posted in, I'm gonna guess it's a Vario II?? If that's the case, it should work.....
OK, did you soft reset after installing it? If you did, have you tried the "workaround" in the second post of the thread I was referring to - i.e. copy the .EXE somewhere else, uninstall the O2SMSPlus utility, soft reset and then try running it from where you copied it...???
If you've tried all of those, then it looks like you're back to a Google search
Cheers,
Mark.

SMS/Emails (Where are the icon indications)

Hi all, did a quick search to find nothing related to the below:
I am having hard time knowing which SMS I have replied, or which email I have forwarded.
The icon in the inbox never changes, only an unread messages becomes read but no indication if it has been replied or forwarded.
If anyone could advice or point me to the right direction please, many thanks.
Did you try HD Tweak?
I think you can set what you want using this app.
SMS / Email Icon.
Hi GoldCoin, I have checked HD Tweak and found that you can get sent notifications although this is not necessary.
What I meant was, when you reply to a SMS the icon in the inbox should change. An example, you can go to your hotmail account and reply to an e-mail or forward and you will notice the envelope gets marked that it has been replied/forwarded too.
I have attached an example of the icons.
I hear you...
I'm looking for the same feature.
I recently changed from 6.1 to 6.5 on my diamond, don't remember the name of that rom. But i actually had the feature.
However i've now changed to a different 6.5 (lower mem. usage), and it doesn't have the feature, i'd be very happy to hear from anyone who knows the solution. Will keep investigating myself though
Ironic, it's a business phone and they forgot the icons. Work around, I have added 2 additional folder in my email inbox: Replied and Review. Once I have replied an e-mail I move the message to Replied folder, that way I can track which ones I have left to reply. Other e-mails that need reviewing goes into the Review folder which I usually access through the PC due to it either being a large excel/presentation or just a forwarded email.
Hmm, you're right.
I could have sworn that my original stock ROM had those little icons. I think it was the same envelope icon with a little green arrow on it.
I'm now using Dutty's 3.7 XT ROM and all the icons (in the windows sms application) are the same.
Does anyone else also remember that icon I described, or am I just imagening things?
One thing I do notice is in the SMS/MMS inbox.
If you have it set up to "threaded view", then in the list of messages in the inbox, it will show a short preview of the last message in the thread. If you wrote the last message, then the preview starts with "Me:". That's a quick way to know if you responded to a given text message.
However, the problem still remains when using emails.
I hope someone can figure this one out.
I had the feature in a ROM cooked by someone from xda-dev, don't remember which one though, I still have the ROM somewhere on my computer, and I'm trying to locate it and figure out who to ask about it.

cool!
I posted a question about it in Dutty's 3.7 ROM thread, but I haven't had any responses.
Well, i found out that the rom I was using, was one of Lobsterdave's...
However i also found out, that on my current rom (6.5) if I: open the inbox, press a message to open it, and use the reply soft-key, it will actually work.
A bit teedious, but the only way for now.
I asked in the thread of the rom, and wasn't really supplied with anything useable. Just a suggestion to cook my own rom...
I'm actually going to give a try. Until then I gotta admit... I'm starting to loose hope.
I think maybe the rhodium manilla, is able to flag messages, without opening inbox and so on. But that's not an option for me, as I'm running the old TF3D.

[Q] Help - Lost all my SMS messages!

I know there are other Android devices where this happens, but I haven't heard of it yet on an Epic.
Basically, I've kept all my SMS messages for the last couple years. This morning I sent a text, no problem, still had all my messages. I received a reply driving to work and when I checked about 10 minutes later all my messages (including all threads) were gone except for the reply!
I do not have any autodelete enabled. I use Handcent. Handcent did dump a 0kb stack file on my SDcard root folder at the time it happened.
I already checked /data/data/com.android.providers.telephony only to find my mmssms.db is shrunken from 1.6MB to 35kb. There is also a mmssms.db.bak and mmssms.db.mark which are 0kb and not typically in there.
Any ideas on where my missing DB file could be? I feel it is erased, but do not know of any recovery method. I already searched the SD card using Recuva with no DB files. Where else can I look? Any way to mount the internal storage to attempt a recovery?
Thanks

Unfortunately I can't give a suggestion as to what happened but I can make a suggestion to keep it from happening in the future. Get the app called SMS Backup. This app backs you sms messages to your gmail account (with a separate label so it doesn't clutter your inbox). If this happens to you again in the future then at least you will have the data backed up.

@goddimus: Thanks for the suggestion about SMS Backup to Gmail. I did have that installed at one point (2009) but was concerned about battery life so decided to uninstall it. I do have an old backup from 3 months ago on my computer.
@orbiting234: I keep them for the same reason I keep all my emails. You never know when you need to refer to it, plus once in a while it's fun to look at to remember the events of your life.
Any way to extract a bit-accurate image of the data partition to run through a recovery program in Windows?
Yes, just went thru similar issue. Ill update this post when back home, but search this forum for 'extract nandroid' .. ill also post the db where sms are located.

[Q] PDU_LOG On SDCard?

Greets All,
Just wanted to see if anyone else has this, I noticed on my SDCard a folder called PDU_Log, curious I looked inside to find a bunch of files mostly named
sms_1.pdu
sms_2.pdu
sms_3.pdu
sms_4.pdu
Or
mms_1.pdu
mms_2.pdu
When opening it in wordpad its garbled, I am just wondering what is this folder, and is this like HTC sense in Windows Mobile for HD2 that kept a log of all the sms and mms in a folder?
I also have this. After deleting the folder and restarting my HD2, it is created again.
Okay so anyone want to take a stab at this as to if this is the SMS keeping a log? If not then why is it keep coming back?
I don't know why, but it's also on my Desire Z.
I am running the modaco Rom BTW.

btw: if u open one of this log files with a text editor, u are able to read all ur sms, u sent an received: its a huge securety leak, grrr
Its not the case for me as I do not use handsent.

I don`t think its handcent :/ I`m not using it ... didn use it even once! And got this folder :/ Anybody got any more ideas what can creating it? :/
I got the same appearing and I just use the Sense SMS app.
Is anyone else using HTCSense.com?
I'm synching with (not really using) HTCSense.com on my Desire Z with SenseGinger 3.0, also Handcent.
Just noticed this folder a minute ago, it was not there during my SD backup 2 days ago.
Opening the files in Notepad clearly reveals the phone number and message content.
So far I have no idea where this comes from.
Let's find out
Update: rebooted the device, got an sms while shutting down, after reboot the folder was there again, but I didn't start any of the messaging apps myself.
Kind regards,
SubWorx
hay chaps ive been getting this i noticed was when i would install a fresh rom it wouldnt happen
when i logged into my google account i unticked backup and restored my back u with titanium backup
it would return
then i tryed again with siginin into google and doin a back up didnt apear then i signed into google and would appear so i found it was google but even wen i made a new account it would happen im so lost on wats goin on
I just noticed this folder this morning. I'm on an Evo with VirusROM GengerSense ReV B2. I use Handcent. I'm coming from CM7 and never noticed this before, so I'm guessing it has something to do with Sense.
If this is a function of Sense, and if it restores all my messages when I flash VirusROM B3 (which will do a full wipe), then I'm cool with it. I'm more than cool with it actually. Although this should be optional.
PDU_LOG folder
Same thing happened to me.
I'm running Android Revolution B4 and had signed up to HTC Sense just to check the extra's.
I took a backup and then removed the account and the folder and it has not come back since.
I'd noticed that Handcent started running a bit slower possibly cos it up always copying the texts onto the memory card. When I looked at the date/time of the PDU files, they were all copied over yesterday, even though that folder and the messages have been there for about a month.
Built-In Function
This is my take on this.
HTC Sense (2.3 and higher) automatically "backs up" your messages to the SD card. If you were to flash a 2.3 ROM that runs sense then flash another 2.3 ROM running sense, you should maintain your SMS/MMS.
Cool but unsecured. Wish they had implemented some type of security as anyone with some "smarts" can access your SMS/MMS history.

There is a way to disable this automatic backup?
I see this post resurfaced. Just to let everyone know I just checked my sdcard and this folder doesn't exist anymore. I an running my own kingdom rom in my signature forgot all about this till I saw this post again. Could be the message apk that might have this setting.

[Q] DX unable to send multimedia messages

I've searched for quite a while and was unable to find this particular issue mentioned anywhere else.
When my wife tries to send an MMS from her DX it gives her the error message "Can't send message right now. Too many unsent multimedia messages." She has googled the issue and tried the couple fixes that she was able to find, but to no avail. Deleting the threads, deleting the contact and re-entering, etc. Still gets the same message, regardless of who she is trying to send to.
She is unrooted, using GoSMS for messaging.
Thanks in advance for any help/advice!
This is obvious, but just to make sure... Does she have data on?
GoSMS WILL NOT send mms over wifi, so make sure she is on mobile data.
I would go through her convo's and see if there are any mms that she doesnt care about and delete them. Also try sending an mms with the native sms app to see if that will work to see if its a system or gosms problem.
Thanks for the responses!
Mobile data is on.
She doesn't get the message popping up when using the stock messaging, but the message still doesn't send.
I'll go through and delete any MMS I can find and see if that changes anything.
Not sure if this is related, but just over the past few days she's noticed that a few pictures have appeared to become corrupted. The thumbnails appear fine, but when she views the pictures they show a small bar of the image at the top and the rest is a scramble of red/gray. When viewing with the phone plugged into a computer it is just gray with the bar of image at the top.
Still trying to figure that one out, too.
Kind of wondering if rooting her phone and flashing a ROM might help things... I know my DInc runs much smoother for it.
Thanks again!
If your not rooted I would sbf and that should fix your issue.
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
I think sbfing at this point would be like trying to kill a fly with a bazooka. There are other thing we can try before deleting everything and starting from scratch.
It sounds to me like there is a corruption somewhere in the folder where these pictures are stored, which could be causing both problems.
Try moving a picture into another folder on the sd then send the picture and see if you get different results. You can also try inserting another sd card and try to send a picture from there.
I hope this helps!
Try Handcent, the stock messaging app sucks. I switched because of the same problems your wife is having.
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
The reason Handcent will "solve" the problem is the program creates its own folders to stores files and pictures in. The problem will still exist if you use the stock messenger app.
Thanks for all the replies!
I wanted to get back sooner, just been busy.
Here is where I am so far:
My wife said she had gone through and deleted any unsent MMS in all threads, but that the problem persisted. This was a few weeks ago. A couple days ago I personally went through and did the same, and then I also deleted an MMS from one thread that had been successfully sent, just to see if it would do anything.
I then tried sending an MMS and it worked. And she's been successfully sending MMS over the past couple days. I'm not sure if it was necessary to delete a successfully sent message, though. My wife might have missed an unsent one somewhere, but she's generally pretty savvy when it comes to things like that, so who really knows?
In any case, the not being able to send messages problem is solved. Thanks for all the help!
However, I am still trying to figure out what happened to the few photos that became corrupted. She has over 700 photos in total on her SD card (from several years) and she only noticed the corruption problem about a week ago or so. As far as she can tell (hasn't looked at every single photo yet) it is only three photos. The thumbnails are fine and when you initially click to view them they appear fine for a split second before distorting. I'm stumped. Any ideas on this one?
And once again, all of your help/advice is greatly appreciated!
Take the photos that are corrupted and put them on a computer to see if the files are actually corrupted or if the phone is reading them weirdly.
If the comp reads the pictures ok, just try renaming or moving the pictures. Sometimes a re-save of the file will fix an issue like that. If the comp doesn't read the files, they are def corrupted.
I tried viewing the pics after moving them to my comp, but still corrupted. Thankfully it was only three pics and no further ones appear to have become corrupted.
On the plus side the messaging problem appears to be completely solved.
Thanks to everyone for the help/advice!
