Hi everyone.
One thing that I find annoying about this phone is when I install a new game or a couple of android games... all the game sound fx go to the music player library... that makes it so annoying to find songs because these games have so many little sounds that it becomes a mission to find a song.
Is there a way to remove them permenantly or to adjust the settings so no short music files will show up?
Thanx

Can anyone advise me an app just to create a playlist by selecting a folder with music files in it, so that it can be used by the stock music player too (also pls advise where to save/copy the playlist and which format should be used; m3u, pls, or..)
Thx
Is that so hopeless..? Noone replied to my query so far.
Just would like to know if there is a such, simple app for creating playlist based on the folders, and used with built-in music player as well. The stock player can't do that as you know well.

You want to do this right on the device, and not on PC/Mac and then sync/transfer?
try doubletwist on pc/mac if not on computer then im not sure. Mortplayer?? do a search on andlib
i hv found an app, "just playlist", with this you can create playlist for all or just selected contents of a folder (exactly as what I want it to do) but the matter is the playlist file is not seen/found by the music player.

Anyone know how to change settings so library only adds files from a certain folder? I have hawx installed which has 500 audio files and the music player has them all listed which is really annoying having to scroll through.

In any folder you do not want scanned by the media scanner for music and video, place a blank file named ".nomedia"
ah ok thanks. Blank file meaning even a document file or something specific?

Glad this was asked. I was curious about the same thing. After installing some games, the music player includes some of the sfx in the playlists. Very annoying. I will try this fix as well.
Thanks for the post.

This works for all nested folders as well. And if you are rooted, you should also check out Rescan Media Root to rescan the sd card on demand. You can disable the startup rescan if you wish and use this as needed. I haven't yet disabled rescan on startup. It doesn't take too long. But if I add the .nomedia to a folder, it's faster to run this app, rather than connecting to a computer, mounting the sdcard and disconnecting to kick off the rescan.
Hi Xda!
I am not sure if I am posting it at the right place.. I am new here and getting hang of xda forum yet..
I tried searching this everywhere on internet and xda could not find any answers so finally i decided to post this here.
I have Galaxy S and my Default or any music player I install they all pick up my games sounds too like sounds from the games like Nova, HAWX and what not. I do not want my player to scan my whole phone for the music, I just want it to show music from a particular folder.
It is very annoying to see it shows so many stupid sound files from those games.
Please Help
Gaurav
Put a .nomedia file in the directory that the song is in.
Use astro to search for where the song files are.
Create a text file and open a cmd prompt and rename the text file to ".nomedia" without the quotes.
Then copy that .nomedia wherever you want to hide media files from the music player.
BTW this is not Android development.
It belongs to the Android Question forum.
Thnx mate... this really worked.. but for some reason my phone has gone way too slow and takes about 15 mins to reboot now
OK, I've searched all over the forums and the market and google, but I have yet to find a player that does what I'm looking for... All I want is a "dumb" player. My requirements are this: play by folder, system library with selectable folder scans so it doesn't play ringtones and notifications as music and simple playlist management i.e. Add folder... essentially like winamp for windows. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I've tried doubletwist mixzing and winamp and all have some of what I want but none have all. Help please...

Just try ttpod, wow thats amazing music player and its free...

Only problem with ttpod is when selecting a music folder the songs play out of order. My mp3 collection is organized artist> album> (track number) - (song name).mp3 it keeps wanting to play based on (song name) alphabetically. Anyone know any way to fix this? Power amp is great but as limited as my income is, I can't justify paying 4.99 for an app.

Hi all. Whenever I download a picture or a file, I can view it in from the downloads app, but it does not show up in the gallery, at all. Also I have a music app that allows me to save songs on the phone, and it saves them, but they can not be found anywhere, not on phone storage, not on SD. This all started after I installed an external Sd card. What can be the reason?

use a media scan app
And as for your music files, try using PowerAmp, it's a great music player that finds your music by scanning your entire device.

And the best thing with it is that you can set it to scan just the folder you put your music in, so you don't have to listen to ringtones when playing random playlists
Poweramp is the #1 player for me!
