Entering bootloader - HD2 General

I recently changed the lcd of my hd2 because it was broken due to falling on the floor.
When reassembled the volume buttons were broken.
Does anyone know how or if its possible to enter the bootloader and make selections without using the volume buttons. Maybe something with the telephone and hangup buttons.???

this should be in Q&A section...

1. Boot in bootloader with active sync.
2. Install clk
3. Compile your own cwr with the keys mapped different.
4. Install your own compiled cwr.
5. Flash you favorite rom.

Here's what could maybe help you
take ur battery out put it back in press the red soft reset button to switch it on
hold down the volume key while it switches on it'll get you to the tricolour boot loader
flash the wm6.5 RUU
after that all done ! u could maybe use roms from your sd card
but i believe that you are wanting to flash a NAND rom right ?
dude i know how to flash a rom...
i had once opened my phone and accidently broke the cable that connect the front hardware keys...so they are not working...
so was wondering if clk could flash a rom without using any of the keys using fastboot

Fastboot is initiated in default if cwm is not installed.
But the question is, how to go into cwm if the "Home" button is not working ?
Exactly...fastboot is default...i will be able to intall cwm without any hardware keys...but wont be able to do anything from there....if once im able to install a rom then i can install rom manager and change roms...and probaly even install cwm from there....but to flash the first rom is the question....
will i be able to flash a rom using fastboot without cwm??? using a adb or someting..??
Atleast if someone could tell me if we can flash a rom using the clk fastboot directly without using the clockwork recovery
Idk about whether the HD2 will work with this or not, but a quick google search showed this up:
http://www.firstdroid.com/tutorials...pphire-guias/how-to-load-a-rom-with-fastboot/
As an HD2 owner, you are to start from step7 immediately.
Again, I doubt this will work.
... But I think original problem was how to get fastboot mode without HW keys? After that flashing a rom is possible.

Power phone off , power phone on , once you see the magldr screen , press and hold power , then using volume buttons scroll down and select "AD Recovory"
If you can't get into recovery your recovery is probably broken. If you tried the above post and you can't get into recovery mode you probably flashed clockwork mod via rom manager (this breaks the recovery) or did something else to damage the recovery. Download the sd recovery method via this post and follow the instructions as well:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=17068500&postcount=2
Can you boot into recovery now? Make a backup via CWM and reinstall CWM if any problem persists.

Check if your volume keys are working in clockworkmod, and if they are, flash a ROM of your choice.
Swyped from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
nope the volume keys dont work at all strange as many people have had the same problem is there a way of flashing via sd i have downloaded roms and tried to use through clockwork via sd but it just seems to boot up normal :S????

If your volume keys do not work, download the image of a touchscreen-based recovery and flash it using flash_image in ADB or Terminal. (flash_image recovery <file-name>
You can reboot to recovery if your ROM supports that as an option in the reboot menu, or through adb command (reboot recovery)
can u suggest a touch screen recovery program ?

Look in the NAND section for clockworkmod based touch recovery. I remember seeing someone releasing it a while back.

Did you do anything to the phone that might of caused it to stop working? On mine i opened it and saw that the button on the ribbon that's pressed by the key was moved and it wasn't pressing it (Had to put a tiny piece of foil and tape). When you press it do you feel it kind of click or it doesn't feel like its pressing the button?
the buttons seems to be pressing down ok im just looking everywhere to try a find a solution

2 questions

Hello,
i have 2 question about HD2 with Android NAND
1. I cant make hard reset on the phone. I've tried factory rest form the menu, but after the restart, nothing is changed. How can i make hard reset in another way?
2. Is there a way to install Andorid ICS or Jelly Bean without working Volume buttons...
Thank you!
To master reset you have to go into recovery

you are pretty much stuck right where you are, unless you just happen to be running cLK with a touch recovery, and if you aren't already running cLK and touch recovery, you can't get them, because you need the volume buttons to install them.
Isnt there a PC program that i can use to install Andorid from the computer or any app that can map volume buttons to some of the hardware buttons on HD2?

There's always SD Android. I don't think it's possible to do much without working volume buttons.
Can i use both NAND and SD Andorid? How will choose which one to boot first?
Wait, sorry I didn't read the OP properly, you're already on NAND Android right? If so, then you're stuck on that ROM, SD Android requires power buttons when in MAGLDR.
use hd2 toolkit install clk and then over the hd2 toolkit touch recovery. use backbutton to boot into recovery.

oh sorry you need the volume buttons...
if you have something for trade we can trade http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1860554.
i think you have no way to get another rom...
You can install recovery without volume buttons, but you need CLK.
just flash the recovery via fastboot and viola touch recovery and theres your reset

[Tutorial]Flashing android on "hopeless" HD2

Hello guys. i decided to give you this tutorial to flash android roms on hopeless hd2's.
What does hopeless mean?
Hopeless = Devices with broken usb, devices with broken volume rocker, devices with broken power or call button.
WARNINGUSERS WITH WINDOWS MOBILE, and HSPL, and BROKEN USB; if you want to get back to stock, NEVER flash stock wm rom, just custom wm rom from sd card, as stock WILL remove HSPL and ANY CHANCE to install CUSTOM roms or bootloaders again. BEWARE.
This guide is devided into many sections, each one regarding a specific problem.
Index:
Impossible combinations of problems
broken usb
broken call button
broken volume rocker
broken call buttons AND volume rocker
Controlling bootloader and flashing android from pc
Click to collapse
Impossible Combinations of problems
Devices with broken volume rocker AND without Windows MOBILE
devices with broken usb AND volume rocker
devices with broken usb AND {menu; power; green} key, all of them broken
Devices without HSPL AND Broken usb
Devices with faulty mainboards
Devices with broken volume rocker AND without Windows MOBILE
if you have one of these combinations, then it's theoretically not possible to flash android on HD2. See section 7 at the end for possible way to get android.
If you don't have any of these combinations, then you may be lucky enough to get android running on your phone.
if you DO have one of those problems, you may be able to do it. read the whole steps to get an idea if there's something broken you need to use to flash android.
END OF SECTION 1
Section 2: devices with broken usb
We assume you have hspl installed. grab black clk bootloader from here:http://www.mediafire.com/?nhyausx0p5whu#tzg7whl9wwaih from compiled test versions, the 3 ones at the bottom. choose the one with the recovery that fits your needs.
Download and extract zip. you get a .nbh file
rename .nbh file to LEOIMG.nbh (with caps)
copy file to the root of your sd. sd card should be at maximum 4gb (as safely reported), and formatted to fat32 partition.
turn on your phone in bootloader (HSPL) mode, by holding volume down button and inserting battery. make sure the sd card is there.
as instructed by the hd2, you should be able to flash clk
Proceed to Case A
Click to collapse
Section 3: Devices with broken call button
same steps for section 1, or:
grab black clk bootloader from here:http://www.mediafire.com/?nhyausx0p5whu#tzg7whl9wwaih from compiled test versions, the 3 ones at the bottom. choose the one with the recovery that fits your needs.
download hd2 toolkit and install it (search the forum for it)
turn phone in bootloader mode by holding volume down
open the nbh file from the zip you downloaded.
follow on screen steps
proceed to Case A
Section 4: Devices with broken volume rocker
This one is a bit tricky. it requires having already clk, or windows mobile.
if on windows mobile,
grab black clk bootloader from here:http://www.mediafire.com/?nhyausx0p5whu#tzg7whl9wwaih from compiled test versions, the 3 ones at the bottom. choose the one with the recovery that fits your needs.
open .nbh after installing hd2 toolkit
flash clk bootloader
proceed to Case B
Section 5: Devices with broken call buttons AND volume rockerassuming you have clk bootloader preinstalled or windows mobile, do the same as section 4.
if on windows mobile,
grab black clk bootloader from here:http://www.mediafire.com/?nhyausx0p5whu#tzg7whl9wwaih from compiled test versions, the 3 ones at the bottom. choose the one with the recovery that fits your needs.
open .nbh after installing hd2 toolkit
flash clk bootloader
proceed to Case B

Section 6: Using bootloader and controlling it from pc
Now this section is divided to two cases: A and B
Case A: your device has working volume rocker, with or without usb
Case B: your volume rocker is broken, but your usb is working
Case A: Devices with working volume rocker
if followed instructions, it's easy to flash android now.
boot the phone while holding back key. black clk should appear
navigate up/down using volume rocker
use answer call button OR menu button if any is broken to make selection
goto settings, resize partition, change system partition size and apply
open recovery and flash rom from sd
enjoy!
Case B: Devices with Broken volume rocker
Controlling clk from PC
you will need to enter clk bootloader by holding back button. once in there, plug-in usb, make sure you have fastboot drivers installed, and proceed.
each key has a command to use it.
UP: fastboot oem key 8
DOWN: fastboot oem key 2
ENTER (or YES): fastboot oem key 5
BACK: fastboot oem key 0
Repartitionning:
if you just booted clk, flashlight should be automatically selected. to resize, use:
fastboot oem part-resize name:size
this is taken directly from clk help example, to make a 320 mb system partition it would be:
fastboot oem part-resize system:320

or:
fastboot oem key 2
fastboot oem key 5
fastboot oem key 5
fastboot oem key 2
fastboot oem key 2
fastboot oem key 2

navigate and change size as you want, then use fastboot oem key 0
fastboot oem key 2
fastboot oem key 2
fastboot oem key 2
fastboot oem key 2
fastboot oem key 5
fastboot oem key 5
fastboot oem key 0
fastboot oem key 8
fastboot oem key 8
fastboot oem key 5
you are now in recovery, flash the rom you want and enjoy

This is NOT the recovery, this is cLK's User Interface. From there, you get to flash the recovery, resize partitions or reboot into recovery/bootloader again by using fastboot commands.

I was about to tell him that this thread is dedicated to installing android and not Windows Phone. However, I think there is a way to install windows phone with a broken call button, but I'm not sure if I'm allowed to say it here.
Edit: However, if you were able to "find out" that (I'm allowed to), I could call in reinforcements. (psych reference )
Edit#2:Yep, it's fine. There's a modified version of MAGLDR that, if I remember correctly, allows you to choose options using the home key instead of the call button. I'm not sure if it "allows you to choose options" or "allows you to boot into magldr". It could be the latter since many people have broken end button and not call one. It's not here on xda and I can't link you to it, you have to find it yourself.
