Hi I rooted my DZ about a week ago and installed CyanogenMod 7.0.3. It has worked perfect and I've been very pleased with it.
Last night I set the alarmclock for the morning, set the phone to charge and went to bed.
I then woke up 3 hrs late and discovered that my phone was turned off ?! I can't turn it on and nothing happens when I set it to charge.
My hopes are that its just the battery that's collapsed but what do you guys say ?
hoping the best for you but here's what happened to me:
Out of the blue my Desire Z stopped working: one moment everything is fine and then all of a sudden when i tried to turn the screen on nothing happened. well i didn't expect anything worse than having to take out the battery and reboot, but when i did just that only the home, menu, back and search button went on but not the screen...end of the story, i had to send it to the customer service wait for about 3 weeks (customer service in germany is rather poor because it is outsourced to another company) and get a mainboard replacement.
Maybe in your case it's just a dead battery, take it to the next electronics store and have them check if another battery fixes your problem...Good Luck!
Silly question but you have done a battery pull?

I'll go to my nearest 3 store next week to see if a battery swap will do it. I'm just afraid that it's the whole rooting thing that has caused it and that the warranty wont cover it :/

I think my Touch HD is Dead I am not sure about it too because i can't seem to power it on ... So anyone with some idea before i call the HTC
Open the back cover and press the little red reset button.
Hopefully that works. Mine sometimes will do that, and reset fixes it.
Thanks for the replay mate I tried it still its not powering on
Perhaps the battery has died, tried plugging the power cable in?
Actualy, i have my new HD dead after two weeks working. Two days ago my battery didn´t charge and orange led stops after a few seconds of plugg charger. Seller has sended today a new battery to try it. No success. Friday i´ll receive a new device to change them. It seems problem is due to internal charging circuit. I´ve had "good lucky" because my HD has crashed before 15 days. One day more and i must to call HTC services and wait for 1 month at least. In Spain HTC service is very slow..
Good lucky!

of course as a citizen of an EU member country, your sale contract is with the supplier and not HTC so go see them and get a replacement
might have to do some research first so you get your argument together
read this page: http://europa.eu/scadplus/leg/en/lvb/l32022.htm
especially:
"Consumer goods must be in conformity with the contract of sale.
*snipped*
The seller is liable to the consumer for any lack of conformity which exists when the goods are delivered to the consumer and which becomes apparent within a period of two years unless, at the moment of conclusion of the contract of sale, the consumer knew or could not reasonably be unaware of the lack of conformity."
In my case, the difference into 15 days and 16 days is that i can get a new device quickly before 15 days running or i must to contact after 15 days with HTC service (with RMA protocol, etc) and send my device to repair/change. I know i have two years of guaranty but when i say "good lucky" is due to fast time of solution of my problem. 3 days is not 1 month..
So, it´s better work hard with our new devices as soon as u have them in your hands. If they must crash, better be soon..

I happy Guys !!!
My Touch HD suddenly Risen from Death and its working Great as ever now ..... I can't say how thankful i am to all you guys for your kind words and advises
THANKS GUYS
I think My Laptop made it to sleep a bit longer after i unplugged and plugged into a power outlet it started it self
My Touch HD is dead too
I have been struggling with my HTC Touch HD which I got less than a year ago. It suddenly shut down. I tried to recharge the battery, master reset, and everything you can think of. And nothing can keep it on for couple minutes.
I suspect it is the battery. I have order a new battery. Hope it will work. If it is the charging circuit, I will have no hope but get a new phone.
Can anyone verify HTC Touch HD has a charging circuit problem? BTW, my bluetooth and radio went out several months before, and now the whole thing goes out.

How did you fix your Bluetooth?
Mine is having a problem now. It doesn't activate when I put it to "ON". However, when I restart my phone, the bluetooth icon at the top of the screen is on indicating that bluetooth is active. However, when I try to disactivate it from Communication Manager, it shows that bluetooth is actually off. Any idea what's wrong with it?
My phone now doesn't boot up. When I switch it on, it just vibrate as if the phone is switching on but there's nothing on the display. The battery is fully charged. Previously, when I switch it on it says "Microp Mismatch 0. Please update your Microp's firmware". I manage to get into bootloader and flashed ROM with XANNYTech's Leo 2.5 and used it for about a day before it died. Anyone help please?
My phone, which I've had since waiting in line on March 24th quit on me today. I'm not sure if it was the culprit but, I installed a program called Lookout mobile security last night 5/6. When I started the phone this morning put it on the table, got some java and when I got back nothing..no buttons working...ok..no problem tried a soft reset...nothing..ok now starting to get worried. pluged into power source..boot up screen. whew..low battery. then blank, a few seconds..boot up screen AGAIN!..by now I'm in full freakout...Attempted to calm down.. didn't work..thought ok..most everything is backed up..lets do a hard reset..didn't WANT to but anyway! Did the hard reset .. Still had the same problem...Had to pinch myself HARD to make sure this wasn't a nightmare. Went to the TMobile store and the associate put me in touch with technical support (they were Super) Going to give me a new phone but, have to wait until next Friday to get it...and then tweaking and rebuilding it to what I want...I should have been ready for this coming from an iphone...All it takes is one $%@# program again, not saying it was the one mentioned above but, one with a malicious code or something that destroyed over five weeks of building a phone from scratch. Sorry about the rant... I still LOVE this phone. .
so you couldn't even boot it in to the bootloader? wow! Maybe you should flash HardSPL before trying to install that program again as there is far less chance of bricking it if you have HardSPL installed. Even if the rom gets completely stuffed, you can still boot it and reflash from SD.
All I can recommend is install a ROM via Micro SD card and maybe doing a Task 29 before you reinstall a ROM
for US Tmobile: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=653614
For Leo: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=609477
Or maybe try this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=668347
If those don't work then I don't know what else to recommend
They want my old phone back once I get the new one so, I'm going
to let them have it just as I turned it on yesterday. Let them
find out what the problem was created by.
I was about to install that "lookout" software...but after reading this I might as well hold on.
did you leave it on the charger overnight or did you just turn on your phone in the morning.
if you didnt have it charge all night, maybe all you needed to do was leave it on the charger a little longer before starting it back on.
i noticed that some phones with a dead battery and on the charger will sometimes not stay on until it has gotten a minimum charge on the battery.

Setting up the new phone shouldn't be a big deal if you did actually backup; just stick the old microSD in the new phone and run whatever backup app you had on the card.
I put it on the power supply and it is in the constant loop of
the first screen that appears. I am going to seriously look into
HardSPL. Thanks to all the good input from everybody.
Well now even customer service is at a loss. They cannot phantom why why two separate phones have the same problem. While I had CS on the phone we went thru various senario's to try to get the phone to operate properly. I even had them give me a new SIM card and that did not work...I suggested the problem might be the battery as it could have gone bad. You guys think the phone is playing hard to get--try to find a replacement battery! No stores within a 20 mile radius had one in stock....! Needless to say they are going to ship me yet another phone. plus a new battery and hopefully it will take care of the problem. The sales associate did a hard reset on both my old and the new phone without results so that unfortnately is not a viable solution. Now I am in the game I hate the most........The waiting one! ..

^^ what the op says above. This happened to me (and my gf as well) on our HD2s. The first time (mines) this happened, i hooked it up onto my car charger and immediately tried to turn it on.. it would go onto the TMO screen, but quickly shut down and loop. After realizing I may be trying to jump the step, I unhooked it from the charger, took the battery off, put it back on, hooked it back onto the charger and let it sit for about 10-20 minutes charging. Turned it back on and viola! It wasn't a brick.. I can almost guarantee this is your problem.
But I may be wrong lol...
So, now after 2 replacement phone sent to me, I find out that
it was the battery all along. Problem is that after the second phone
arrived and I had the same problem I called customer service and
explained it to them....They said a battery would be sent next day
air...Ok...called the next day and was told that the rep never sent
in the order...Long story short....I've almost been without my phone
for two weeks now and, all I need is a frelling battery.
Problem is there are NONE around me..I've tried every tm store in
the area, All radio shacks batteries plus...you name it....
I am being sent a battery UPS ground...could take 7 more days.
Just took the battery from my fiance's phone and it works
so, right now I would pay a ransom for a battery just to have my
phone back!
I had to do a hard reset after downloading that lookout trial.
at this point I don't know what caused it..Has anyone ever heard
of an application causing the battery to go bad?...I worked really
hard to keep the battery I had in good condition.. I hope UPS
delivers soon!
This is odd I have used Lookout Mobile on my phone since I had it. Mind you not had it for long, since April but still its never bricked or did anything that hindered the phone. I maybe another program.
Hi,
Not sure what is happening to my phone. I have had stock 4.2.2 rooted with CF auto root for months and had no problems. A few weeks ago my phone started to randomly shut down, not properly just complete power off in an instant. It would then start to reboot and get to the Samsung S4 logo screen before powering off again and trying to reboot and then gets stuck in a constant loop. At first I was able to just reinstall CF root with Odin and it would start up OK. I could also get it to start by re-installing Philz recovery.
Now though, that doesn't work so this morning I installed JB 4.3 I9505XXUEMK8-PRE-ROOTED-KNOX-FREE-ODEX-FULL.tar.MD5 and it says that it is rooted and everything seems to be OK but after an hour or so it has started to randomly shut down again. If I attempt to go into recovery (stock) and clear the cache partition it will reboot normally and run for a while until I use an app and do it again. Am I doing something wrong here or is my phone just knackered?

Maybe is coz the RAM is overloaded. Take a look in:
- Press HOME button for 2 secs
- U will see 3 icons in the bottom. Click on the "cheese"
- Tab "RAM"
- If ur phone use more of 1 GB of RAM for run ur apps maybe will be time of delete bloatware
I had the same problem in GT-I9500, I had to get it repaired in a service center.
There was a problem with mother board to charger port connection..
Hope it helps you!

If u wanna try to recover some RAM u can delete some bloatware that u dont use. Tc with what u delete. I let u some info about if u wanna try -> HERE
I have this problem, I swear it is because of the dodgy battery. (I have the BD battery)
When I plug it in to charge all works again properly.
Last night my battery was showing in the high 60's the phone went off. When I put charger in the battery was at 3%!
Very annoying, going to take to Geek Squad tonight and see if they wil lreplace battery. Guy here at work has same phone, different battery derial number and no problems at all.
Hopefully they will change the battery, I don't have any paperwork with me but the phone is obviously within the 1 year warrenty.

Interesting. I have noticed a couple of times when I look at the battery stats that it has drained from say 90% to 3% in less than 1min, just a verticle line. When I plug it in to charge it says that it's at 90% or whatever it was. Other times it needs charging and is almost dead. It's as though it has shorted out. I wonder if that is the problem here.

Thanks for that. It's quite a list. I'll go through it and remove the ones i think i can do without and see how it goes.
Same Issue
I have the same problem with my I9505
- It shuts down randomly (sometimes you see a few seconds in advance that your connection to the mobile antennas disconnects), when you look at it, in the middle of a phonecall, ... whenever it's nog plugged in to the power of external battery
- It's almost impossible to get it powered on again (gets stuck in a loop of rebooting: most times at the Samsung logo or after it's on for a few seconds), unless you connect your charger that is connected to the powergrid or external battery
- sometimes it resets the phonelanguage to default (so in stead of for example Dutch, everything is in English again)
I just cleared the cache and removed some programs...
Fingers crossed
--> I'll give an update if anything changes

I've tried that as well. Didn't work. The problem you describe is exactly the problem I have. I have ordered another battery but I don't think it's that. I'll let you know if it is. I hadn't noticed that it always boots OK if it is plugged into the mains. Wish I knew what was causing the problems.
Random Shutdown and boot loop
So I think I am finally getting somewhere. I took this screenshot straight after it shut down and got stuck in a boot loop. So I plugged it into the mains and it started OK. The battery just gives up when i stress the device with a hungry app or when booting which causes a heavy drain on the on the power even when its got a healthy charge. Got a new battery on order. Take a look at the screenshot. You can see the battery instantaneously drops to zero charge until it's re-booted on the mains.

in the list I forgot to mention that the known wifi's are also wiped. --> you have to connect to them again...
I too am having this exact problem; I'm glad to hear it is not only me, not that it helps any of us.
I posted in another thread, but the symptoms everyone here are describing are exactly what I am seeing:
- Sudden battery drop from anything (it's happened to me before about 5 minutes after unplugging from the wall socket) to zero; then phone goes into a loop unless I plug it back into the mains socket
- When plugging into the mains socket with this issue, sometimes the battery is empty and sometimes it shoots straight back up to where it was
- Plants Vs Zombies 2 is the sure-fire way for me to reproduce this issue
- examined logs (although not sure if the right one) using CatLog; nothing obvious (in fact the last line on one of the logs is litterally cut halfway through)
- Wifi connection details lost occasionally
I have reflashed about 4 other (4.3) ROMs (and I tried a 4.4 GE one too) and they all seem to do the same; I am wondering if it is something to do with the non-Knox modems required to flash the 4.3 ROMs as I don't think I had this problem before updating to 4.3. I don't have the time or patience to revert back to a 4.2 ROM to test this though.
I can go for a couple of days without this happening, but fire up PvZ2 and here we go again.
I too have a new battery on order (allegedly genuine from a well-known auction site), so I will update this thread when that arrives to see if it makes any difference.
I don't like this post for one reason.... it means that the problem I am facing won't solve with a format and a new fresh flash... :crying:
I was spending some time on XDA searching for a good stable firmware to flash because I am having your exactly same issues on my phone... I just tought my phone got a bit messy because I have 130 apps installed and a lot of stuff on it.. so I was just thinking of solving all my problems with a new rom... but then I found this 3d...
So you are telling me that my problem won't get solved so easely? How am I going to deal with a Phone that randomly shuts up??? I need my phone and over the last week it got always worse.. first it shut up at about 5pm.. (at ca 15% charge) then at 3pm and 50% charge... today it shut up at 11am and 80% charge... soon I won't be able to use my phone at all!!
I'm happy I backed up all my data today, but it still doesn't solve my problem since I really need my phone... :crying:
This evening I'm going to flash anyway... let's see what happens..
PS I own a GT-I9505 with 4.2.2 stock rom (root)

Sorry to hear there's a few more out there with the same problem that I am having. AhHm... Sorry, WAS having. I tried re-flashing all sorts of ROMS from 4.2.2 to Echoe KitKat 4.4, flashed CF Root, reinstalled philz touch recovery god knows how many times all to no avail. I now know that it is nothing to do with your ROM or phone setup. It's Samsungs crappy battery. As soon as I put in my new battery problems solved. I have been running multi-window apps whilst having FB on in the background and watching a film all at the same time. If this was gonna crash it would have done by now.
Problem solved. Don't buy the cheap SPB £9.99 one on ebay it has lots of bad reviews. I got this one with no problems:

I'm glad you solved.. this means there could be a solution to my problem... in any case the fact that alla batteries here seem to fail in the same week is really strange!!
And the thing I hate most is that a 500€ phone shouldn't be dying after just some months!
After having spent some time googling around.. I found a solution... well, not exactly a solution... let's say I found the core of the problem...
I found some very interesting posts on the misfuncion on all Samsung S4 Batteries Made and Produced in China with SN starting with BD....
And guess what? my battery corresponds!!
If you look at the battery you will notice that it is a little "bumped" and not perfectly flat...
Here in Italy many users went to samsung customer service and got the battery replaced!
Tomorrow I will check to see if I can get a new battery... for now I'm happy to know exactly what to do in order to get my phone working again!

Yeah I found that out tonight also. I called samsung earlier today and they said if it is less than 2 years old they will repair it and I should send it to them. I have flashed so many ROMS since I purchased it last year and one or two with Knox which as we know registers that it has had a custom download which voids the warrantee so I thought it would be a waste of time sending it to them. Also I need my phone for work so it was easier to purchase a new battery.

Hi,
Do you have a link to the info? was it on an official samsung site?
So last week my N910F (rooted) ran down to 20% battery and so i put it on charge, thought nothing of it, A couple hours later the phone was dead, extremely hot to touch and just a blank screen with no charging lights, So i unplugged the charger removed the battery and let it cool for about 10 mins, when i put it back together it refused to turn on, tried both recovery and download modes but still nothing tried different chargers and still no lights, nothing. took it back to my local O2 shop to see if i could send it off for repair.
Got home this evening and O2 had kindly returned my phone to my home address, with a letter saying the following -
Thank you for sending us your phone to be fixed.
One of our engineers, has tested your phone and found that unauthorised rework has been carried out on the phone. Unfortunately, this prevents us from repairing it and we are, therefore returning your phone un-repaired.
well after reading this my heart sank and i was guessing i would have to make a insurance claim and hope my insurance would somehow replace it.
I then noticed on inspection of the phone, there was for some reason a new charging cable included with the phone!!!?. I looked a bit further and noticed they had taken the phone apart and it seems they have replaced the charging port, the battery also looks brand new and there isnt a scratch on it (I had previously marked it) So it seems they have indeed carried out some work, So i plugged it into the charger and guess what, it now works fine!!!!!!!!
So thank you very much O2 repair centre!! Im guessing they had to fix it first before they could test if it was rooted or not!!! their letter was a bit confusing though!!
Congratulations
Sent from my SM-N910F
Does anybody find it weird that o2 would fix mjw2k11's Note 4 only to send it back to him saying that they couldn't fix it because he had messed around with the firmware? Anyway I'm glad that you managed to get your Note 4 fixed.
i dont find it weird. It wont turn on right. but 'O2' wont repair if anyone modify's their phone. So they want to turn it on to see if it has been modified & unofficial but they cant even do that yet. The logical thing for them is to try to get it to boot up, which they did by changing a battery or fixing inside. (which solved the OP's problem). O2 then see's that Knox counters been tripped & they dont do anything further & send it back to the owner. Happy & lucky he is
Hi all,
Here's my problem : I recently changed the battery of my nexus, everything worked well, then 48h later my phone starts to shut down without any reason, when I tried to turn it on nothing happened.
Untill plugged it in, then I could get him on, unplugged the phone (the battery was at 60%) launched an app, shut down again, without getting on until I plugged it.
So I flashed factory images (latest from decembre), Everything worked fine for 48h again, until earlier today, the exact same problem happened.
Can u plz help figure it out ? thx
@oussamalabbize It's your new battery same thing happened to me send it back. My seller immediately sent me a replacement hopefully yours will do the same. I bought one of the cheap ones from eBay so I half expected that. Just wish I tested it out for a long while before I put the back on! The replacement one has been working solid now for few months just no temp sensor but can live with that.
