zte blade gps problem - Blade General

a fried buy a blade gen2 with android 2.2 i unlock it to 512 and flash it with 2.3.leaked rom V880-GingerLeak-V2.5.1-eu-fix2 and Ginger Stir Fry Beta 19 the problem is that phone can locate satellites ,it just ligths the gps icon and can't locate , on ndrive it gives me gps:no status (i left it for an hour outside but nothing) any suggestions is there any way to be a hardware problem how can i check it ?

You can try to check if it gets some satellite signals using the GPS Status app (available in the market)

Have you tried a diferent rom like cynogen 7,try it and if the problem still happens i think the a gps fix for the blade,do not rush and install these kind of patches.Search for it.

It depends whether you are on gen2 or gen1.
And don't do it on a chinese blade (V880 or X880)
Any of the gen1 -> gen2 old style TPT's will unlock 512MB
or going through the windows flasher process (which gives you a gen1 oemsbl / partition.mbn) will also do it.

Try using different app for searching location...
sometime my gps doesnt work & keep showing waiting for location

try to edit gps.conf and use your country's ntp pool

[Question] How to test GPS hardware...

Hi all,
suddenly my GPS is not working anymore. Can enable GPS and it says it is ok. But when i want use Google Maps, or navigation program the icon in taskbar is not there anymore.
Did try GPS Status, nothing....
Did a fresh rom install and wipe everything i can wipe.. nothing not working.
now i want to know is there a tool or adb option to test the hardware if this is still working.... (maybe GPS is broken)
Thanks
Did a RADIO rom flash with the one i already had on my HTC... and problem solved....
Still wondering how it can happen that maybe the radio rom was getting crazy...
had the same problem two days ago, same solution... same no idea for the cause
this kind of strange things was my idea only for windows... suddenly it is not working anymore.. But.. Solve this problem was mutch easier haha
This seems to happen whenever you flash a 2.1 ROM. Even going back to 1.5 doesn't fix the problem and a new radio flash is required.

Dave

Every now and then manufacturers like HTC will release an update to radio which controls your wifi, data, blutooth. If your current radio is having problems, you will need to update it. Most of the time new radio is included with the update but you can Google individual files as well, hope this explains

After update gps not working

Hello,i ve flashed the 3.1 rom but i ve noticed that the gps, using the gps test tool, can't find any satellites...I ve every 0 satellite in view.I ve got the 32gb model and with the 16gb the problem doesn't exist.I ve read in the motorola xoom the same problem after the update, there is a solution to fix it?

[Q] Gen2 Blade Ram unlock

Hi,
I had bought a ZTE Blade from Idea celullar (India). Its Gen2 Phone with stock 2.2 FroYo.
The problem is that when i have checked the RAM, its shows 256MB only... How can i Unlock the whole 512 MB RAM and even i am not aware about the Real ram specification, I mean I dont know that the phone is with 512 MB RAM hardware or not..
How can I check and if possible then how can i unlock the 512MB RAM.. Please help....
Thanks in advance..
How & where did you check it? How much ram does it show? Are you sure you aren't confusing it for storage (flash rom)?
As far as I know only Blades sold in Greece & China have 256mb ram & only the Greek ones can be unlocked.

I have checked the task manager------->task manager--->resources--->RAM-- It shows only 166MB of total memory available....
Well, I'm not sure if it'd be possible then, I'm unfamiliar with that variation of the ZTE Blade. The Greek versions have 512mb ram in hardware, but the bootloader only uses 256mb. The Chinese versions really do only have 256mb ram in hardware, can't be unlocked & if you try then it'll stop booting until you flash the chinese bootloaders & firmware back.
We don't have a copy of the hidden radio firmware & bootloaders for your phone. You'd be taking a risk of breaking your phone with no easy way to recover it if it doesn't work.
If it is possible then you'd need to flash european bootloaders & radio firmware, using either an image.bin file or a windows flashing method. However, if they don't work, we might not be able to save your phone, since we dont have a copy of the correct bootloaders & radio firmware and it isn't easily possible for you to back them up from your phone first.

this is a chinese blade with 256mb ram u should have bought xcd 35 which has 512 mb ram and is a better deal if u dont go for free data provided by idea.
Hello Bhawan.
Dude better install this app known as PIGFISH from market.
This will help you determine if its a GEN1 or GEN2 model.
Once this is done go for android.modaco website to know its unlocking procedures.
Enjoy!!!

as in ur case u got froyo with 256 mb ram and when i bought xcd 35 i got froyo with 512 mb ram.there is a misprint on dell website and on the user manual of xcd 35 they have made it according to 2.1 and not 2.2 so they have listed 256mb there.
and another thing which shows that dell has just updated their website to show froyo is that the internal memory they have shown is 200 but actually it is 162 used the partition has been changed in froyo

There is outdated specifications for Dell XCD35 on DELL India official website. Don't trust on them. I have also bought Dell XCD35 which is 2 months old. and my handset is Gen 2 with 512MB of RAM. which has comes with Android 2.2 as a Stock ROM. Dell XCD35 user manual also mention that there is 512MB of RAM in DELL XCD35.

No there is no easy way to backup your current phone's bootloaders & radio firmware. We don't have a copy of them either.
To try to unlock any ram you would need to overwrite those bootloaders & radio firmware on your phone. It's more likely that it wont work. If it doesn't work then there is no easy way to recover your phone, it'll be 'bricked'.
It's quite likely that your phone only has 256mb ram in hardware & 512mb can't be unlocked to 512mb ram.
You can root your phone, install clockworkmod & cyanogenmod without any risk of breaking your phone by following this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1319257
Dell XCD35s have 512mb ram, just like the European versions. I think this version might be 256mb like the Chinese v880, they've started selling similar phones in Russia now too.
i also brought the same phone from idea..its model is ZTE-BLADE,PRODUCT-Iidf-P729V -info got from quadrant and its gen-2 as per pigfish.i also got 170mb ram...can i unlock it...bro bhawan if u find a method or an answer pls inform me too..does the product name ie 'Iidf-P729V' show that my model name is p729v,i google 'zte blade p729v' and it showed orange san fransisco...
Don't know but it may help. I bought my xcd35 online and its a gen2 with 400mb aavailable ram froyo stock. Have heard that u can unlock ram by flashing custom roms like cyanogen etc

try this

i think it will tell u which blade u have a European one or chinese.
european-512mb ram(system available)
chinese-256mb (system available and hence can not be unlocked)

Sadly it only detects how much RAM is available at the moment. When I used a Chinese TPT on my Blade which normally has 512MB RAM, it was software restricted to 256MB, so the app said I had a Chinese Blade when really I don't.

no gps

my hd2 never connects to gps with all gps programs
i still don't know wether it's a hw or sw problem?
her are some informations from :setting/about phone:
android version:2.3.7
base band version:15.423.50.11u._2.15.50.14
kernel version.2.6.32.15_14s_r9
mod version:hyperdroid_cm7-magldr5.8.0 nerdymarwhal
build n° cwk74
thank you for any help to get my gps working
i would suggest a reflash first. if that doeant fix the problem start from scratch ... get the hd2 toolkit (search for it if you dont already have it handy), task 29, reinstal mag/clk (whatever your preference), cwm, and then hyperdroid.
if that doesnt remedy the problem it would have to be a hw problem in my opinion.
good luck
thank you for your replay i did all the steps you mentionned but the problem still persists even after flashing a new rom based on android 4 if someone knows about any kind of hw diagnostic programs i doubt a hw problem

I would get GPS Status from the market , go outside on a clear day , download agps data . and then try to get a fix . If you cant get a fix . Then , sadly to say , you MUST flash back to the Stock Windows Mobile ROM that came with the device as that is the ONLY way to rule out any software problem . If it works with winmo on , then its something with android . if it doesnt work with winmo on , then its a hardware error .
1) try to read this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=953630
2)I would try to put wm 6.5 to take away all doubt

[Q] bringing this phone GLOBALLY!

Good day guys!
I have this LG GT540(rooted to 2.3.7 cynogenmod 7 ROM by mur4ik) and have been used for more than a year and a months. I bought this unit here in the PHILIPPINES. My question is, can I use this phone in CANADA without undergoing with what they called an "OPEN-LINE" hardware solutions there, so that I could use any network there(SIM CARD) and would fit with the network systems in CANADA?
btw, I have a 2.3.7 cynogenmod 7 ROM and its good! thou it has a few lags and frequent restarts, whats the most stable and great Custom ROM for this unit for today?
Thanks for your responses! I'll Appreciate!
Should be able to, go do some research on that network and this phones radios. I dont think canada has such strict lock down of phones compared to the USA. I think the most important thing is to make sure the phone is unlocked (make sure its not carrier locked im sure its not) if its not locked then its good to go the SDSL and Tejas rebuild of Pcfighter .32 kernel rom is also good! Well they are all better then the one you are using and im sure of that.
Thanks for the help bs828!
Well, I bought this unit in a store branch here at the mall and I'm sure its not locked with the specific carrier or networks here and abroad. They say its Quadband, great thing!
I'm worried cause its in the NEW ROM,which is the 2.3.7 cynogenmod 7, NOT in the Original state of ROM in LG Platform, that would hinder or loose of a Quadband factor in this unit.. hope'll its not
na not likely

A sure way to download Google Maps is to use "Apk Downloader" and download Google Maps apk on your PC then install it on your phone (with root explorer or other file manager). Apk downloader and instructions are available at http://codekiem.com/2012/02/24/apk-downloader/
