I was on 1.83 rooted with Gladroot... Wanted to move to 2.3...
I unfroze everything that I had frozen with Ti backup, did the OTA upgrade and ran mramirez script to root and unlock bootloader.
Process was smooth and no problems. Used Ti to restore programs and everything seemed fine? After a couple of days though I noticed that I am getting a lot of program crashes, with process stopped unexpectedly errors, and they are repeatable. For example every time I am in Google Maps and I try to start navigating i get error. It is fine if i do directions but navigation crashes it.
Before I do a hard reset and reinstall everything from scratch I thought I woild see if there were any other suggestions.

if you remove maps and install from market does it work? my guess is that system changes between 2.2 and 2.3 are causing problems with the apps.

There was a brief thread on February 19 concerning the Android Market crashing. The person with the problem said he flashed a new ROM and that solved the problem. Well, I really am not a ROM flasher, so that won't help. I had the updated market, upgraded to EB13, and all was well. Then suddenly yesterday I started getting an error "market.proces.com.android.vending has stopped." I have cleared the cache and the app data, and when I do market can be accessed, the agreement to terms screen comes on, and after I agree, I get the market, but within a minute it will crash again with the same error.
I tried to reinstall the update.zip from the Samsung site, but it won't let me (presumably because I already updated to 2.2.1?). So what do I do? Is my only option a factory reset? And if so how can I backup all my data and apps. I am rooted, and do have MyBackup Pro, but it too is giving me problems, crashing at various points as I try to backup my data. I hope someone out there can help. Thanks.
Update: I did do a hard reset, after managing to have MyBackup Pro backup my data and apps. I got into the Market after signing on, and re-downloaded MyBackup Pro -- but then the ERROR started again, "market.proces.com.android.vending has stopped." WTF?
You can always try to Odin eb13 to a fresh install and see if that works.
Thanks. I may just get another.
I have had this problem and it is related to a bad update of.eb13. ODiN is th only solution that I could figure out.

Seems without adding anything to my A7, in the past day it is literally non stop FC'ing on the above process. I hit Force Close and it keeps coming back (not immediately, more like randomly without 10-25 seconds). Only thing I've did extra n the tablet lately is play Angry Birds. Should I try to clear it's DB even though I haven't loaded it today? Also would like to state that I have rebooted and even shut down the tablet, and it still does it.
what have you done to it? stock firmware update? DexterMod? Stock fresh out of the box?

Guess in my first version of this thread, before I edited it, I had that information (morning brain fart).
DexterMod v1.3 + BT Fix
Worked fine yesterday morning then it started FCing out of the blue. I've begun (even though none of the apps were installed immediately prior to the FCs) uninstalling widgets that I installed. Next is to start on programs (I did however uninstall Button Savior as I know it loads on startup so I was thinking that was causing it even though it had been on the device for a couple days running flawlessly).
Got tired of messing with it. Did a Cache Partition Wipe and Device Wipe and it's back to normal DexterMod v1.3. This seems to have resolved the issue so it must have been something with one of the databases on the applications that I had installed. Will see once I reload all my apps.
Many months back I did my first rooting of my Epic 4G and I installed the Syndicate Frozen Rom version 2.1.1. Kernal version 2.6.32.9 and Build number Twilight Zone v1.1.1 - Hajime-taisho.
Lately I get this when the phone rebooted:
su binary outdated
When I tried to update it says the updater is incapable of updating my binary since it is installed in /sbin.
That was fine for a while but a few days later I am getting all these popups that say "Sorry! The application Swype (process com.swype.android.inputmethod) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again. Then gives a force close button.
The MMS process also pops up and several others. I cleared some of the caches last night like I read to do here and it worked over night but this morning it is back and making the phone unusuable.
Tried to go to into CMR and clear the caches there and reboot but that didn't help.
Any ideas of what I can do? Can I reflash the rom without losing all my data?
Thanks for any help you can provide.
Note: Also getting this gapps error. And the phone is just rebooting on its own.
You need to upgrade to the newer superuser. Maybe try going to the market and getting it, or someone here may have the apk for you.
Went to the Market and downloaded the SuperUser Update Fixer and it said it didn't have anything to fix. I updated Superuser, ran the update fix and I am still getting that su binary outdated message. And my phone keeps rebooting.
Another error I am getting is an "acore" process needing a force close too.
Did you clear data in Google Framework Services?

Thanks just tried that but still not working. Getting all these force stop windows from acore to mms to gaaps and swype and then it reboots.
Then you are left with Factory data reset and restoring apps from the mrket so you don't restore any corrupted data. Make sure when you get a good working phone again to flash the journal on script.

Hmmmm. OK. Should I do a backup in CMR? I am in the process of doing a Titanium backup right now.
Do you think I should update the ROM or just reflash the one I had before?
Not sure what flash the journal on script is.

Your choice but updated rom* never hurts ..

Something had to be corrupted. I flashed Syndicate Frozen ROM 1.2 and a new kernal and was still getting those errors. So I had to do a backup, wipe the phone and then reinstall and that fixed everything. I reinstalled most of the apps and so far no more errors. Thanks for the help!
Hey guys. I've had it with MIUI. and i'm ready to switch to a new rom. i figured now was as good a time as any to try out CM7. So i downloaded the latest stable version, backed up my existing install and flashed. The phone got stuck at the bootscreen. I assumed it was because i neglected to wipe data and cache, so i went back, wiped everything, reflashed and booted into CM7(after an extensive wait)
Everything was running great and i just finished restoring my apps with MyBackup. I was getting FCs on a few apps, but i chocked it up to CM7 not having all the components that some of those apps require. I was about to start removing the offenders when the phone crashed and went back to the bootscreen. It sat there for 2 hours before i pulled the battery and restored back to MIUI.
In short, i really want to try out CM7, but if it's going to be this unstable, obviously it won't cut it. Am i doing something wrong??
Some apps just do not play nicely when being restored from a backup. Can you restore apps 1 at a time so that you only get the apps that you know work? Then re-download the apps that are causing problems.
Possibly. That seems like an unnecessary step though. Would a rom really crash because of app incompatibility? I thought they would just FC every time i tried to run them, not blow up the whole ROM.
If you are using ROM MANAGER you can try to use the utility for "Fix Permissions". I'm sure there is a way to do it in the recovery them selves, but the process escapes me.
This is not an uncommon requirement when restoring from one complex ROM to another.
I had some quirkiness restoring a few apps with Titanium backup. I ended up just reinstalling them from Market and haven't had issues since. Also, after restoring my contacts with Mobile Backup II, I could not edit them from the phone. Force closes. Had to delete them and re-sync with Gmail and exchange server. No problems after that.
I have flashed Synergy, Swagged Out Stock, SavagedZen, and a few others and always wandered back to CM7. In my experience, whenever you switch ROMs like that, there are always quirks, so I have taken to getting apps one at a time from MyBackup Root when I do switch. And yeah, I have had App conflicts cause forced bootloops before, it is not completely unheard of. I second the notion of installing one at a time, and Market DLing any that force loops. And as always, I reccomend a cache/dalvik/data whipe when switching full roms.
Ever since my OTA update two days ago, I've had nothing but serious issues with my N7. I was stock rooted before and regularly backed up my files. Since the update, my N7 has been horrendously slow. It takes forever for any of the app icons or widgets to load. I just re-rooted tonight and have been waiting now for 17 minutes, and still the pages haven't properly loaded; they're all still blank. When opening apps, it'll either be so slow that I get the message saying either to wait or just close it. Other times when trying to open apps, it'll just hang indefinitely. Swiftkey is pretty much unusable, it's so slow. Everything is just so frustratingly slow now. How can I fix this? Is anyone else having this problem? 4.3 has been nothing but a nightmare for me. It's made my N7 unusable.

Try booting recovery and clearing the cache. But I really don't know if that'll work.
Otherwise you can trying factory resetting and restoring from one of your backups.
If that still doesn't work you could download a stock 4.3 image and flash it. Then restore your backup.

try completely wipe your device, make sure you backup everything you need to the emulated /SDCARD and back that up onto your PC. Then do a fresh reinstall. Also check background apps, some malware might be the problem

Well there you go. I also made the mistake of relocking once upon a time.

So I backed up all my stuff through Titanium Backup to Dropbox and did a factory reset. After reinstalling everything, I reboot the device. Now it won't get past the colored X. What do I do now?
