Hi,
I had a HTC Magic, and i changed it for a x10 Mini.
Even if the Mini have only 128 Mo RAM, it is really more faster than my old Magic, particularly thanks to the interface of SE on the x10 Mini.
I wondered if some people worked on a custom ROM with x10 Mini interface (even if it is only 1.6) for the Magic, which could be really fast and useful !
I searched it but i found nothing.
I hope some people will be interested by this idea, for the performance, or just the challenge to do a custom ROM x10 Mini for the HTC Magic !
Thanks in advance,
Cyalintz.
i would be happy if some1 whould make a custom rom for x10 mini maybe with htc dialer and other goodies... i still have my magic with Capyslide rom on
why revert back to 1.6 when 2.2 is comming hard to us now?
Mod. edit: not dev related, moved to general

Because x10 Mini is really faster than the Magic even if he has only 128 RAM, and the principal reason is his ROM.
So, an adaptation could be cool to see a fast Magic.

Because you don't need to wait for the homescreen to reload on 2.2?
Anywho, this is going to be a PITA, since the mini is QVGA, so the graphics are gonna need some *major* work. I think the only QVGA to HVGA port for android has been Tattoo to Dream, and it was useless.
i want it for tattoo

Greetings, I'm quite new to this, but i wanted to ask, is X8 very different from X10 Mini Pro? I mean on the system part, is the system same or slightly/very different at those two devices? I'm asking, because there seems to be a more living developer community at the X8 section and I'd like to know if some of the stuff applies to my Mini Pro too. Thanks in advance.
Hi everyone. How U think, can our X2 work with ROM from X10 mini pro? Both of them have qwerty keyboard, camera, they are sliders...
If somebody know anything about that idea please write something
no. not possible. read a little before asking dumb Qs
its like asking if a donkey can ride a monocycle
It isn't not possible, but (very)x100 difficult first HardSPL

You got a pretty good razzing on this one, but I think your question was sincere so here's a little more explanation, including of the posts above.
To date, there is no user-accessible boot-loader. For example, unlike the X1, if you hose-up the X2 (let's say you delete a system file accidentally that stops the phone from loading/booting) ... the only real solution is to hook up on the internet to SE's official site and re-download the latest firmware to the phone (even though it would say you have the latest version, it will allow you to re-download).
So, when the post above talks about "HardSPL"....it's meaning that FIRST someone has to figure-out how to install a user-accessible boot-loader unto the X2.
Next, I believe that there's a big learning curve for someone to not only understand (reverse-engineer?) the hardware drivers for Windows Mobile, but how to interface with the core hardware components from Android.
Then, providing all that went well, the x10 Mini-Pro would probably NOT be a good first-fit. It might be more logical to dump a Droid onto the X2 instead. ...For at least 3 reasons:
1) The Mini-Pro is extremely low res; the X2 uses an extremely high-res display
2) The Mini-Pro is a 5mpxl camera; the X2 uses an 8.1mpxl shooter.
3) The Mini-Pro (I think) is still running an old version of Android, not even 2.1 (meaning that you wouldn't have much joy from the advanced bluetooth and other hardware features of the X2.
So, ...nothing's "impossible". But, the challenge your 'dream' presents requires a whole lot more knowledgeable hardware/software hackers to be excited about the X2 than there realistically are.
It's a crying shame, really. The X2 hardware is really sleek and awesome. And, when it runs right, it's a killer phone. (But when it doesn't....)
Today is the day, when i said good bye to my HD2.
It has been qute an experience owning the device and trying all these different WinMo, Android SD and Nand, Windows Phone 7, but i guess i got tired of all those, what is working and not working rom, and now i deceided to get a Xperia X10...
I want to thank all of the developers, testers, and all of the users of this subforum. Great job guys.
Shame... I had an X10 for about a week before I got rid for the HD2 (my second HD2) ... The X10 has a few 'quirks' of it's own but nothing reflashing can't fix.
ithink hd2 its quite good device, since all my friend complaining baout that n this on their soner device...
HTC is more experienced for PDA things than
I've got HD2 with Rafdroid and X10 (updated to 2.1). After using X10 I still come back to my second phone (I find Sense much, much more useful than Sony's firmware - especially these things that decide about phone functionality - adress book (searching is much better in Sense), phone and so on.)
I owned a X10 before but i was disappointed.
lmao. So let me get this straight, you're going from HD2 to the X10? In case that wasn't clear enough...
YOU'RE GOING FROM THE HD2 to the X10?!
lulz
Yep, i got rid of my 9 months old HD2 for a brand new X10, which has everything right out of the box. I wanted to have android for so long and i have tried qute a few sd and nand builds, but still there is something not working. i.e. i must connect to wpa2 enterprise network everyday ... no build support that... sorry hd2 ....

I hope you enjoy the Experience (get it lol)
imho, (and i provide phone tech support for virgin), you are correct to say its all the out of the box, but the build quality, mtbf*, useability, screen quality, reception and software are much below the Leo.
Don't forget that SE don't as a rule supply updates for their phones, and don't expect to update the rom on the X10 this centuary.
You would have made a better choice to go for a Wildfire S
Mean time between failures
If I was you, id try and sell the x10 and get a superior phone, perhaps an Hd2, if you need advice on running wp7 and android, we can help

What he said ^
Gosh guys, if he gets a new phone don't kill him over it. Fact is, our hd2 is non comparable to a true android phone. So it's obvious he's got a better android phone than us. Don't trash him about it.
PS. if any of you guys try to tell me that our hd2's are faster than android phones, root the android phone, tweak it, then flash a custom rom / kernel, then you'll see that android phone flying beyond what our hd2's can do.
niceeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Yeah I would think the HD2 the better of the two ?
X10 has locked bootloader - there are few custom ROMs and SE said they won't update the official Android in Xperia.
You wanted Android from the box - why not Galaxy S?

Because the galaxy s is known for it's hardware problems. However I find the problems insignificant in my case and opinion.
Now personally I find you choice of the X10 a bad one, as the desire, desire hd or even desire z would have been a better choice. But hey, congrats on the new device. :3
Hi guys! i'll be going to singapore soon to buy my htc hd2. Missed all the tweakings. Had an xda, then xda exec then got an htc shift (still with me now). Looking forward to have one soon.
You chahged hd2 for xperia? If I were you I wouldn't tell anyone about this stupidity. You are crazy, man!
When i had a Xperia X10 i waited 4 months for an update. And not to 2.2 or 2.3 but
from 1.6 to 2.1.(The first and last update for the Xperia X10 family.)
When i got the update guess what, still no multitouch, no adobe flash player, same laggy Timescape and Mediascape. And did not mention the BIG quadrant score: somewhere around 460-500, with the update.
So i did own a Xperia X10i for 4 months and i can say from experience that the HD2 android it is far better than the Xperia X10i.
This is only my opinion. I was happy to change the X10 for a HD2.
You did the opposite.Hope you will be happy with it.
I recently asked Sony Ericsson for an Xperia X8 2.2 an official update, I was not expecting a reply but they did.
Thank you for contacting the Sony Ericsson support centre.
We can advise the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini, Mini Pro and X8 were all tested on Android 2.2 but did not improve the handset but rather diminished it as it started to run slower and crashed frequently which will not have improved the user experience.
The decision was then made to keep these handsets on Android 2.1 as they were originally designed to go up to Android 2.1 and no further, however as Android 2.2 was requested by our users the handset was tested.
Once we were able to update the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 to Android 2.3 we then also tested the Xperia X10 Mini, Mini Pro and X8 with this Android platform, however it again diminished the handset.
Sony Ericsson decided to keep these handsets on Android 2.1 so the handset would perform at its highest. As advised we will continue to release system updates for the handset to try and improve it as much as possible, however this will not be performed by updating the Operating System to Android 2.2 or 2.3.
We can only apologise for the inconvenience caused and will ensure your feedback is passed on to the relevant department to be looked into.

Hmmmm..........I'm pretty sure the custom made by devs don't crash I'm guessing they can't be bothered.
The reason is simple: they don't want to upgrade OS for us because that upgrade doesn't bring them profit.
It (the above reply) is just a way to fool noob users to stay with 2.1 happily.

TRUE!
Please someone who knows english flawlessly reply to SE:
If you found out 2.2 is diminishing the phone, then why does the ported 2.2 (2.3)
ROMs faster, than the original SE 2.1 soft with X8?
P.S.: If you need good programmers, browse at XDA...

Why don't you reply to them? Attach links to custom roms including 2.2 and 2.3 on this forum and ask if they are idiots or they have idiot developers? Ask exacley what they tested, what doesn't work, what exacley what is slow, ask when they are planinig updates, what kind of updates...
Be stupid and BOTHER THEM with question =)
If few individuals can make [email protected], I still wounder how big companie such as SE can't do it.
I agree with post above > no money -no new android. So much for customer service.
I'm guessing i won't be buying another SE anytime soon, aldough I realy liked the brand.
Yeah, android 2.2 and 2.3 used to crash on X8's stock kernel. If they modified the kernel for the newer version of android it would have stopped crashing. But I guess they took a look at it, decided it's too much of a work for them, and dumped the project in order to focus on newer phones
As for slowing down - if drivers were meant for 2.1 of course it slowed down. If they made a proper 2.3 update for X8 it would run smooth as baby's ass.
Bullshitters.
i have a bit....
we all know hardware of W8 is the same of X8
after coming update 2.2 or 2.3 for W8 (not our X8) send them this request with this silly answer
when they say again :
we then also tested the Xperia X10 Mini, Mini Pro and X8 with this Android platform, however it again diminished the handset.

oh my
I think that don't want update the android version .. Simple =/
hi
Fo r me they won't do it because tmost of the people now are practical if they upgrade the
phones with cheaper value the sales of phones with cheaper value will increase but the phone with higher value will decrease in sales

Very True. Now we have ICS running very smooth.
I think the 2.2 roms that are running smooth here, are because they have no additional software running in the background. If you have SE software running in the background and SE apps installed, of course it will be slow.
