TF101 $350 today on Amazon.com - Eee Pad Transformer General

Anyone have a clue if this is in response to the TF 2 coming out in October Allegedly?
Update: Looks like it was a typo. It is now $394.99. Originally it was $349.99. Sorry guys.

I think it's a response to the US crumbling economy and spirraling out of contro debt because of lame successive governments who have pandered to non tax increases despite needing tax increases.

When I go there it shows $394. And no, they arent going to be discounting something for an unannounced product that might come out in a few months.

I see $394.99 also. Am I missing something?

When an item is available from multiple sources, Amazon will switch among them when supplies are tight. I believe they first try to fulfill from their own store, Amazon.com, LLC, and switch to other stores when Amazon.com, LLC does not have stock. These other stores may offer a different price than Amazon. The downside is you do not buy from Amazon.Com, LLC you are subject the return and replacement conditions of the store which may not include free returns, 30-day returns, etc.

LOL, looks like it was a mistake. I just checked the site again and it is now $394.99. It was previously $349.99. Must have been a typo. Looks like we missed our window.

Sam's Club and wifi Xoom

So, has anybody verified yet if the $539 wifi Xoom at Sam's Club rumor was valid? There's nothing yet on their Web site, and my closest Sam's club is 30 miles away...
My local Sam's Club did not have it at all. And as you said, its not on their site yet.
Yeah, I called around and it's looking like only some selected stores will be carrying the Xoom, maybe the sames ones that are carrying the iPad. None of those are close to me, so I'll be off to Costco today to get my wifi-only (and then return the 3G version once I see that the wifi-only version is decent).

As it has been said about 100 times, the picture was from a setup store. Its 589 at sams.

Obviously, I hadn't seen it verified that the price at the setup store wouldn't make it into reality, and if that's been verified "100 times" since the wifi Xoom started selling this morning, I'd be amazed. Indeed, my question was about confirmation one way or another about whether or not that price would be the official price, which could only be settled today.
I also haven't seen the wifi Xoom at any Sam's Club stores, period, at any price. So, a good answer would have been, "It's available at some Sam's Clubs, but it's selling for $589." Incidentally, what stores have you seen it at? I called the three within an hour's drive of my house and they all said they won't be carrying it. Apparently, only certain stores might be carrying it (and they weren't sure), probably the limited number of stores that also carry the iPad.

It was covered on every major place that ran the $539 story that this was a mock store and a mockup potential price, and there was no real indication that any store would actually be selling this low or selling it at all with any widespread availability, especially considering Costco is only selling for $589.

Damn, these forums are frustrating sometimes.
I went to my Sam's Club (Naperville, IL) and they don't even have a date for them to arrive in inventory. The local Costco however, had the big display with cardboard XOOMs with gel case for $589.

Exactly what I was saying... No one has been able to confirm the price or availability. Not sure what else you want people to tell you. I was simply informing you that the first poster isn't incorrect, it really has been said a million times that this is a mockup price.
I don't think that meeting informative answers with snarkiness is getting you anywhere. If you've read up on any of the articles that this was reported in when it first came out (been a while now) you'll see that there really isn't any information on the Sam's Club price or release. The only response you're gonna get is this unless you contact a store and get a concrete answer.
I was waiting on Sam's myself but with Amazon being tax free and free shipping, it works out to almost the same as Sam's price+tax.
The Sam's Club in Kenosha WI did not have it either, nor could he tell me if and when to expect it. I wound up buying one at the BB up there since they offer 18 months same as cash, and sales tax is half of Illinois.

[INFO] Return Policy for US stores

Listed below is the links to each sites Return Policy. Someone may decide to take all the pertinent information from each site and just post it to this thread to make a one-stop-shop for return policies.
Buy.com
Newegg
Amazon
Office Max
Best Buy They have their return policies split up into different sites
Walmart
TigerDirect
Target -Target.com In Store return
Target - Target.com Online return
Staples
Sears
P.C. Richard & Son
Office Depot
Micro Center
JR.com
HHGregg
Fry's Electronics
DataVision
BJ's Wholesale Club
B&H
American TV
For those of us that got our orders in via Newegg, we have the computer replacement only return policy. This means no refunds for returns, replacement only for 30 days. After that it's dealing via Asus on the warranty.
Looks like Sears is the best option: 30 days, no restocking fee, and you can return to brick and mortar locations to avoid any shipping charges/delays.
wynand32 said:
There's a new thread on return policies, but just to clarify. Sears only charges a restocking fee if the original packaging and included materials are missing. Here's from their policy:

Took this from the other thread on availability to respond to.
Sear's policy is easily misunderstood. It really should say "without the original box, used, OR without the original packaging. Notice the bolded words.
Hence, they could theoretically charge you a restocking fee. At the very least, it will be a bit of a hassle for some people based on the manager. You can return with no fee, even if stuff is missing, if there was some major issue with the item that the box said it would not have.
For example, the G-Tablet box said it would come with adobe flash support out of the box. People used this excuse to return it with no fee. You will need to identify something like this to return with no issues.
Buy.com seems to be 45 days with no mention of restocking fees.

I'd think that, given this language, one could easily argue that there's no restocking fee. I mean, the language as written is clear: each of these criteria must be met for there to be a restocking fee. The difference between "and" and "or" isn't insignificant.
Funny enough, I just finished a chat with Sears where the lady said there's a 90-day return policy with no restocking fee. If I get that via email, then I'll set.
Update: Grrr, no email.

You talked to a lady representing the online company.
I'm talking about from experience what people went through with the stores. They all have different managers, with different attitudes. I personally felt I was hassled even to get a replacement for a device with bad hardware.
If you feel like arguing and justifying, go for it.

Tried editing, then you had replied already:
Edit: BTW, their usage of "and" is correct if you consider it. They can charge 15% for each one of those cases. They can charge for no box and they can charge for used and they can charge for missing materials. I interpreted it the same way as you, but then I was proved wrong when multiple people were hassled.
I think they all got it returned, but some people spent more of their time in Sears talking to a manager than others.

Yep, I think you're right: such is interpreted that way on occasion. Being a bit of a purist when it comes to grammar, though, I'd say that being "and" means that all conditions have to apply.
But, other than being pedantic, that's irrelevant. I can easily see a Sears manager making a stink. What they don't know is that I have a secret weapon: my wife ALWAYS gets her way in these circumstances. She will not settle for no, period, and never loses.
Here's the link to American TV's return policy

It's 5 days + 7 days shipping on notebook computers (I'm guessing the tablet would fall into this, maybe the dock as well)
Was thinking about ordering the dock here as they give a discount ~$125 for my area, but not sure when/if I'll get a tablet, return period is too short.
Wow, I'm realizing just how spoiled I am buying everything from Costco. I'm seeing that most places have restocking fees and/or only take returns on unopened items.
Question: Amazon says they have a 30-day return policy for computers, but that computers must be in "New" condition. For some retailers, this means unopened. Does Amazon take returns on opened and used computers, assuming that all original packaging and accessories are included?

I was really hoping to see Costco's name appear on the list of retailers carrying the Transformer... I bought the Xoom there knowing that if the Transformer came out in the 90 day window (and it looked like a better device/value) then I could return the Xoom to Costco. Their return policy is completely unrivaled.
I'm sure they'll start carrying it as soon as I purchase it from another location.

So does anybody have any extra info Best Buy's in-store return policy on tablets? Seems they have the clause "could include restocking fee" and on the website but are not specific on what products that applies too.
Was considering picking up the Acer Iconia tomorrow to play with it and check it out.

You should be fine. I plan(ned?) on doing the same thing. But isn't Best Buy closed for Easter tomorrow? Plus, you have to get extremely lucky to get them to sell you an Acer before Monday. I think I'm just going to wait until Tuesday and buy the Transformer.

[Q] NegriElectronics updated their warranty...worth it to purchase?

So I was about to hit the button on a pre-order from NegriElectronics for my Unlocked T-Mobile Note 3. I'm gonna buy it from them anyway cause it is about $100 cheaper than getting it from T-Mobile. But as I was browsing their twitter feed for any discounts, I saw that they had updated their warranty (Negricare) plans. I wasn't going to get on originally because I thought $100 down plus a $75 deductible was kinda high, but now that they are cheaper ($59 plus $50 deductible), I wonder if it's worth it now. It still covers accidental damage plus water, manufacturer's defects, etc. I have never broke my phone (though I have dropped it once or twice), but it's always when you think you are safe that crap happens. If anything happened to my delicious Note 3, I would be so depressed.
They just announced these changes today, so I don't know if anyone has had a chance to discuss this yet. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Upfront costs mean nothing if you have claim issues down the road. It's not "Negri" insurance it's offered by a third party under Negri's name. Read the T&C to find out who's behind it and see what their AM Best rating is. Also do a Google search to see what people's claims experience have been with the third party. I've had two devices totaled and received $1, 500 in compensation in a week for both claims from SquareTrade no questions asked. Personally, I'd stick to what I know. Good luck.

Thank you for your interest. We simply offer the plans to provide the means to protect your purchase. We have recently partnered with Mack Warranty to back our NegriCare plans. Mack provides exceptional service throughout the claim, which is the #1 reason we chose them. We were able to negotiate costs with them to keep prices down for our customers. The plans are worth it, even if you don't need to file a claim - it's the 'peace of mind that' is worth the money down.
You're likely to find positive and negative reviews for all warranty/protection plan providers out there. It's best to purchase your plan from a trusted company, and what better company than the one that will sell you your device.
We hope to you enjoyed your shopping experience, and if you have any questions please visit our site. below are some useful links.

How is it $100 cheaper from Negri than it is from T-Mobile? Did you see something I'm missing?

I was wondering this too. Based on your image, NE is only $18.50 less than TMo. However, if the OP is also including the tax, then yes - NE is a lot cheaper. According to NE's FAQ about taxes collected, they only collect tax for orders that are shipped to the state of Nevada. I am in CA, so this will be a LOT cheaper for me through NE, since CA's tax is so high.
However, I am not jumping on the Note 3 just yet, until the actual true specs of the Nexus 5 are announced.
Yeah tax is the big killer in buying from the carrier. The savings from NE are worth it as long as they ship tomorrow as on their site. If they push the date later (like the AT&T version was to the 10th), I'll probably cancel and just pick it up locally.

Yeah, it's not just the tax, it's also the fact that I used a coupon code (NE20OFFCART) and got another $20 off as well as free shipping. So my total came to $668. T-Mobile with tax would probably be about $762. So that's why I said $100 cheaper, give or take.

Yeah, to be honest with you, i'm kinda on Negri's side with this one. The main post (the one with the chat and email logs) that criticize Negri show that the guy was complaining about them not shipping as early as the 19th of September. Correct me if i'm wrong, but all of the carriers were saying October 1st-4th for availability. Negri had the expected ship date as 10-3, so i'm not sure what the guy was complaining about.
Now, they have changed the ship date to 10-10, but again, i'm not gonna go crazy because of this. I am saving almost $100 dollars after all. And with all the cancelled pre-orders, I might just get it earlier. lol/jk
Is it odd that official news said that Samsung wasn't going to release 16Gb versions, but Negri has them listed?
Also, from the Q&A:
Thank you for contacting Negri Electronics. We greatly appreciate you taking the time to browse our site and take interest in our units. This unit will not support 4G on T-Mobiles network. This unit will only support 2G speeds on T-Mobile. This unit has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800. Feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns. Thank you and have a nice day.

I think I'm glad I spent the other $90 just to cozy up with Tmo. I like that they have iPhone users (and others) entirely dependent on them for support, hardware included, because I get that, too, not because I need it, but because USB ports, power buttons and other main board & plastic parts just don't last that long.
do we have confirmation that the tmob unit from negri has an unlocked bootloader and will work on att lte?

Hmmm... good point lol. I think he was more pissed off at the perceived threat to delay his shipment because he complained to Google. But you make a fair point -- good catch.
Regardless, you can see several people canceled their pre-orders because of unreliable estimated ship dates and lack of customer service. I've given up dealing with online outlets because of similar hitches with another seller (not Negri) when buying my OG Note. It's left me gun shy lol.

Wait What?!?!?!
There's no way that that is correct. It's a branded T-Mobile device (you can see it in the pic of the back cover). In addition, the heading of the listing says "Samsung Galaxy Note 3 32GB LTE (T-Mobile) (Unlocked)". Since it has LTE (T-Mobile) in the heading, I'm pretty sure it is LTE capable.
Also, the version that PCMag reviewed here (http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2424853,00.asp) was a T-Mobile version, and it was the Snapdragon 800 version of the Note 3. They said that it was using T-Mobile LTE. Negri CSR probably just didn't know what they were talking about or made a simple mistake. There are two versions of this phone after all.

Thank you for your note. We post "estimated" shipping date for this reason. They are estimated and we are not 100% exact on when they will arrive. If you called around to 40 different T-Mobile stores they would have less info than we provide. Our customer service isn't really "lacking" per-say, it's there, and we are doing our best to handle every request. The fact that some customers are angry with us isn't because of our customer service, it's because of the delay of their product. Customers reach out to us in the worst way, demanding a refund, threatening - however, we do all we can to keep the customer calm, respect their reasoning behind the aggression and try to settle them the best we can. Some have even threatened us if we didn't cancel their order - when they were never charged to begin with. It's a tough job, and no one is perfect, but don't give up on Online stores because of that. Give Negri a chance. The T-Mobile Note 3 is delayed, it happens. We don't do this intentionally - there is absolutely no benefit to it. Zero.
Everything we do is above board, honest and transparent. That's the way this company will always operate while it's under my command.

The intention was not to delay his shipment, it was about the resolution. If we could not reach a resolution it would affect his order of course, but the issue at hand is that since a claim was filed with Google, it is handled by an escalated department and not regular NegriCare.
We just hope that all customers understand that it's 100% better to come to us first, than file a claim. The claim form even says to contact us first - but this customer didn't feel that applied to him. Oh well. We deal with things as they come, and with the best possible mindset. We can't please everyone, but we can do our best to try. Sometimes that matters most.

Clove sent me an email stating that if they get to 600 orders for the Z3 Compact before launch, they'll include a Roxfit case and Sony AN401 car charger free with every order.
If you're still in the market for this and haven't pulled the trigger yet, keep this in mind. Sounds like they have over 400 orders already, but there's only 10 days left!
Edit: Here's a link with more details http://blog.clove.co.uk/2014/09/16/a...ia-z3-compact/
Do we need some kind of code to "order" is it "automatic" as you say? There's no mention on their site or blog.
According to the email it's automatic, and they will add it to my order if the condition is met.
You can email [email protected] for more info if you'd like.
Edit: Here's a link that was created when I clicked view email in browser. Perhaps you'll be able to see that as well:
**Removed**
Edit 2: As quickly as I did that, they updated their site. You'll see a general statement if you click on the Z3C, but here's a link to their blog with more details:

Wow - talk about making a good deal even better. I've put up a Reddit submission for it: http://www.reddit.com/r/Android/comments/2gkf75/clove_offering_case_and_car_charger_if_they_hit/
Hopefully that'll get a bit of interest.

Yes indeed! I'm pretty excited to get the phone alone, but would certainly welcome some free accessories!
Thanks for all your information.
I pre-ordered. I recommend that North Americans use PayPal as a payment option - I tried a direct card payment and it failed. I seem to recall having issues with Clove and direct card payments in the past.
Now Handtec are saying that they're going to offer a guaranteed pre-order bundle. This is the start of a price/extras war I hope http://www.handtec.co.uk/sony-xperia-z3-compact-16gb-black-1288-5849.html

More likely it's your card issuer; they will decline an international charge to prevent fraud if you don't regularly make such purchases. After calling the bank and verifying that you did attempt the charge they will release the hold and payment will go through.
Edit: BTW, Handtec is matching the free accessories offer for all pre-orders, no minimum order limit.

Is there any way to get the green variant though? Seems Carphonewarehouse is the only one that sells it but they don't ship to the U.S. :/

I never get issuer referrals other than with Clove. It's consistent. I spend A LOT online including big-ticket travel etc. Anyway, it worked fine with PayPal, so again, that's what I recommend.

Yeah, my AMEX was declined, so I used it through PayPal as well. Good tip!
Just posted at RFD: http://forums.redflagdeals.com/clove-uk-z3-compact-d5803-500-usd-550-cdn-free-stuff-1556567/
My guess is that now that Handtec is offering an unspecified accessories bundle with "no strings attached" (e.g. no minimum pre-order qty), Clove is going to have to make good on that even if don't hit the 600 target. We'd never know if they really hit it or not, so it's easy for them to just say they've hit the mark.
Very true, it is very bold of them to throw that out there. Could put a bad taste in the mouth of everyone if they don't make good on this offer. This is my first ever international phone order, so I'm very hopeful of a smooth process in it.

Oh, Clove will definitely hit their mark, either in reality or make believe.
Seriously, does anyone honestly believe that they've sold 'exactly' 400 units as stated in the blog post (not 407, or maybe 386?), or that they will notify us immediately when they hit 600 units?
Their goal is to use the enticement of some free accessories to get the pre-order buyers to do a little advertising leg work for them. Nothing wrong with that so long as we call it what it is, and the accessories would be nice!
Handtec obviously had to ante up, just as they did by beating Clove's price drop by a small margin, and they took the option of making them available to all pre-orders, probably betting that they will receive some orders from people that want the sure thing.
In the Netherlands you get a Sony MDR-ZX750 headset (worth €150) 00 when pre-ordered, not mather where you buy.
Spoke to handtek other day regarding potential delivery date... Although he couldn't divulge.. He did accidently let off that they've sold 300 red z3c already... They must have clocked way over 600 on total.
There website now says expected 22nd September... Yes
Pre-ordered mine now from Clove. (I hope they don't shaft me on the offer)
I've ordered my Z3C through Clove, and would have done regardless of the accessories bundle. They are a customer focused company and deserve as much business as they can get in my opinion.
Rest assured they'll go above and beyond to make sure all pre-orders receive the accessories, even if they don't reach the target (unlikely).
Handtec Vs Clove
So is everyone buying through Clove or Handtec?
I've never purchased a phone online like this before, so please excuse my trepidation. What are the Pros and Cons of purchasing with each company?
Does anyone have any experience with either of these companies? Who would have better customer support for an International (South African) customer like me? Especially if something goes wrong.
Lastly, I imagine both companies are offering similar accessory bundles together with the purchase. Are there any known differences yet?
Thanks guys! Any input is greatly appreciated!

shipping status thread

Hello,
Given the popularity of the mix, some sellers are using dodgy sales tactics. The latest is geekbuying and their new "stock sale" price that lets you jump the preorder list. Ibuygou claims stock ships in order of preordering, as I assume most sites do.
If you have a preorder with a store, and are waiting, please post where you ordered from, and the date of order.
If you receive your mi mix, please post what day you ordered it on, so we have an idea of their backorder "flow".
Also if you receive your mi mix, please note anything wierd about it (i.e. no case, modified rom, etc)
(Don't post the actual order number - that's not important anyway). Also, don't post from non-preorder sales, i.e. ebay.
If done right, this thread can help verify whether sellers are skipping preorders, and also help new buyers
estimate when they can get their order from various sellers.
I have two preorders,
one with geekbuying on 11/4
one with ibuygou on 10/30
Neither received yet. I'm a bit worried about the ibuygou one as they bumped up the price after I ordered, from $670 to $750.
Ordered 6/256 from https://www.cect-shop.com/en on 11/16 and received it on 11/23.
Ordered the mix 6/256gb on chinadroid.fr on 11/25 (today)
FYI, I have ordered the phone from a 3rd party and have canceled both orders.
i preordered the mi mix from cect shop the 256gb version on Nov 11th it was to ship on Nov 13.
On Nov 13 they sent a letter saying they would ship at the end of the month of Nov or early Dec when they got more stock OR they would ship it now for 929 euros.
today I emailed them saying if they were still going to ship at the end of the month as they stated and this is what they say:
"we check the market prices every day, as soon as the price drops enough we will send it out.
At the moment the phones are quiet a bit to expensive at the market, but When the price drops more like this we can send it soon. "
so i would say there is little/no chance of them honoring the price and sending it unless you fork over extra money. they are basically holding us the phones ransom

Wow, hopefully you do get it for the original pre-order pricing.
My mi mix 6gb/256go has just been shipped ! should be in my hands beginning of next week !
I preordered from Ibuygou on 10/27 and haven't heard anything. Hopefully they'll actually send me the phone because I bought it at $625 and they have it listed for $750 now.

Unfortunately, ibuygou is doing the same as some other sites (like geekbuying).
My rough understanding from them is that their supplier is jacking up the price (like everyone else).
As a result they (kind of) listed the item lower than they wanted to.
So basically you have two choices:
1) Wait for the price of the phone to drop
2) Offer to pay the higher price. (talk to sales support)
It sucks. Doesn't Xiaomi have this 'flash sale' thing a lot? It feels like everyone is caught off guard this time,
possibly due to the really really reduced production rate of the MIX.
- Frank
After a long e-mail chain with ibuygou support, they noted that they don't order phones from Xiaomi.
They get them from their suppliers. And their suppliers have jacked up their prices.
If read between the lines of the mails, it comes down to this: They can't afford to stock the phone if they have to then sell the phone at a loss. (loss meaning preorder prices). I came to this realization then: As a business, it then makes more sense to just never stock the phone and tell everyone "We don't have any in stock." Because why would they? To lose money?
After some back and forth, I saw there were really only three choices:
1) Wait until the price drops and they can afford to stock the phone. (Will this ever happen? Who knows?)
2) Cancel my order and probably pay more than $750 on ebay or wherever.
3) Accept an offer to pay more - the current $750 sale price. They don't lose money. I get my phone.
I took #3. It's almost a no brainer at this point. After several days, it shipped.
What I'm now extremely curious about is - does this happen with every Xiaomi phone? Doesn't every Xiaomi phone do limited run flash sales? Or is it just due to the MIX being unique and a very limited production run?
I was originally very angry with Geekbuying when I saw their "stock sale" pricing. But I kind of sympathize with them now. I think they're a victim as much as we are.

Just for your information you can find it on multiple site at 680$ for the 4gb/128gb (cect-shop / smartophone / chinadroid.fr /tradingshenzhen.com ... ) and they have it in stock.

I was greatly reluctant to order from a site I hadn't heard of, especially after the first few "gearbest doesn't include the case" posts. It would be nice to have a 'where did you get your MI MIX from' for shopper reference.

You can find a loads of feedback on the sites I have cited, where people share that they bought it from these website.
I guess you can find the information of where people did get it from this thread
Purchased from cect-shop Dec 3rd, in stock - shipped on Dec 6th. Will update if/when it arrives and how much I was hit with customs fees (located in Canada).

I've never been more frustrated with a website than this.
"check with us again next week to see if we can send your preorder"
all they do is monitor the market and determine if they can sell - well why did they offer the preorder price to begin with then? it is a joke.

exactly the same experience i had when i tried to order from their website, I am glad I have a friend visiting and he is bringing my Mi Mix for me. That's why I thought it may be a good idea if people want to get Mix i can help them, not much seems interested, however. At least I got mine sorted and I will have mine by the end of this week.
