so I bought a replacement battery off amazon, oem specs, but it looks a little different than the stock one. I am experiencing insanely good batt life now with juice defender. 12 hrs and 65% with fair use. Keep in mind this is unrooted 2.3.3. I will look up the sellers info when I get home, just wanted to share.

New batteries will always perform better, for obvious reasons. And juice defender is amazing, mobile data is a huge battery sucker
Deck's + SZ + SuperCharger script + ViperMod script.
Thing is, my EVO is two weeks old. So idk, maybe it is because I charged my new battery all the way before turning the phone on? I have heard that helps. I am now at 14-15hrs and sitting at 60%. The battery is sold by worldwide manufacturing. Freaking. Sweet.
Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk
Which battery did you buy, and which vendor? Just curious because I'm thinking I need to replace my old battery.
I threw down the $40+ last week for the seideo 1750mah extended battery. According to the instructions on the package your supposed to leave the device on the charger for several hours after the light turns green(sounds like BS), and to fully charge it 5 or 6 times before expecting optimum results. It's so hard to say because even the stock battery can be inconsistent when used under the same day to day conditions. But I have to say, after a week of use it does seem performing well. I'm not a real heavy user, but right now I'm sitting at 50% after 16 hours...
What was the battery life like with the stock and juice defender?

I can't say there's a huge difference, but it does at least seem to be having consistently "good days". It's only an extra 250mah, so I wasn't expecting huge results, but so far I have been pleased. I have yet to try juice defender...
Juice Defender works unless you want to be able to get email and (Google Voice) text messages real-time. That was my biggest issue with JD; it primarily worked by turning your radios off except at scheduled times. For me, I need that instant communication, otherwise I can just wait until I'm sitting at a computer or pull out my netbook to check messages and get a RAZR for phone calls.
Green power is better than juice defender imo just set it and forget it.

When your battery meter shows you have a 100% charge , it is likely not correct. This has to do with circuitry to protect your phone from over charging. There is a way to get your battery charged closer to 100%. The instructions are here http://www.xda-developers.com/android/tweaks-for-superb-battery-life-in-evo/

My wife and my two children got ours last night. We had it on until they died before we went to bed and turned them off and fully charged them. My wife turned them on at 6a to verify the validation and number transfered and at 11 o'clock I was at 8% and my wife's had died an hour before. After a 4 hour charge and a few hours of use on my wife's it is now at 20%
We ordered extended batteries they should be here on friday but man when your OG droid goes 24 hours on a charge of the same useage it makes you want to go back.. ok I don't want to go back I am loving this phone. Hopefully the extended batteries will be better and/or the current battery gets smarter. We shall see.

Hey guys what is up. I'm just wandering.. my Droid is brand new. Got it 2 days ago. Today I had to recharge my battery twice. I did use it a lot... so that may be it.. and when I didn't use it the battery life stayed the same for as long as I didn't touch the phone. Is my battery good? I got the app that tells me the temperature and everything. The hottest was 112F. It says my battery health is "good health". Will my phone hold a charge for a longer period of time after it has been charged then drained... and repeated. Does it just need to be broken in? Thanks for reading this whole essay I wrote you guys.. Haha. Well thank you so much again... and if you can please get back to me as soon as possible that would be great!

You should really search a little bit before you post. There are COUNTLESS threads on battery life.
Your best bet, until HTC fixes it, is to charge until the phone says you're at 100%, then turn it off and charge until the LED turns green. Charging and discharging really won't affect anything - their is no "memory" with their batteries.
Okay, thanks for the quick response. I appreciate it. Sorry. I should've read.. I was just a bit anxious. My apologies.

If they are the same, it means something is keeping your phone awake when the screen goes off, which drains battery.
I just got my Droid Incredible a few days ago too, and I knew coming into it that the battery life has issues from a lot of users, but man, it really sucks!
I have it fully charged at 8am, and by 3:30 (with very moderate use), it's already at 20%. I've disabled everything I can (WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, live wallpaper, installed ATK and keep my tasks at none, etc), and still the same.
I really love the phone (it's amazing other than battery), but the battery life is such a big deal for me that I am really thinking about returning it and waiting for the Samsung Fascinate to come (hopefully sooner than later). Thankfully I have until Aug 30 to call Verizon and return the phone... i sure hope the Fascinate gets a definite release date by then.
I'm going to try the full charge + phone off + charge again to see if that improves things, but other than that, does anyone recommend the Seidio 1750mAh battery or the HTC Touch Pro2 OEM (1500 mAh) battery? Does it make that much of a difference?
I read the findings on batteryboss.org, and it appears that the TP2 battery was better but the Seidio battery they tested was a used one, so it wasn't a fair comparison.
Any thoughts/help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I was just reading reports about the new Facebook app...looks like they are working on that fix if you use that and it is causing a battery drain
http://www.androidcentral.com/facebook-confirms-battery-drain-latest-android-update
Uninstall the 1.3.0 facebook app RIGHT AWAY if you downloaded it. That destroyed my battery life yesterday and I have never had battery problems with my DInc.
You can just use the regular HTC Facebook app until an update is released for the facebook for android.
Try it without the new facebook for a day and see if it changes.
If you don't have the facebook app then just make sure bluetooth, gps, wifi are off when you aren't using them. I recommend trying bump charging but I've never personally and my phone lasts about 26-28 hours+ with mild to heavy usage depending on the day.
-Flawless
Thanks for the replies..I don't use Facebook so that wouldn't be my problem.

Hi did anyone experiance this kind of battery consumption? 3days 14hours and 45min and still have like 7%?
Not personally, I use my phone too much to get that kind of life out of it. Based on what I know about the drain when it's screen off and sleeping, though, I think it's well within the realm of possibility with light use.
I get like 24 hours out of mine... with some light-moderate use... used to be better when I bought it but then after installing some apps it just starts degrading a bit I guess
Well, rechargable batteries do degrade over time, and the more apps you have on a device, generally the less time it will last on battery, partially because those that run in the background consume more system resources and partially because those that update data in the background will keep your phone "awake" more of the time.
If I wasn't using my phone and just let it idle (sync on, airplane mode off) I'd get like 12 days of battery life. That's what I like about the NxS, unlike other smartphones it does actually last longer when not used.

That's no issue, but working as intended.
Other phones are using the same technique, but they are hiding it by showing the 100% the phone never reached, that's why they drop to 95-97%ish right after unplugging and from there drain normally.
I experienced battery drowning after using app's like maps or latitude. I had to kill them manually, now I'm cleaning the phones memory regularly. That safes a lot of battery life for me on the one hand, but on the other hand loading app's isn't as fast as before.
It's the classical trade-off between battery life an usability. And 10-12 hours are normal for me if I'm using my phone a lot.

This is the answer.
It's a battery. By definition it holds a limited amount of power.
Until they invent a phone with a matter - anti matter reactor that can keep it powered on for thousands of years before needing a refueling, having to plug the phone in every night is just a reality. And that day is far off because the price of the Dilithium Crystals needed to harness the matter - anti matter reaction is just ridiculous.

After 8 hours of heavy use you still have 61% battery? That is good. I'm normally down to 18% after 8 hours of heavy use.
You even stated that you don't lose power with the screen off.
Why don't you try staying with one ROM for a while and see if it settles? I posted a pic in another thread asking about VU battery life. I was just over 17 hours with about 50% left on battery. It was a weekend and I didn't use my phone much. It just sat idle with WiFi and Bluetooth on if i wasn't talking to someone in the phone. The screen was off for the majority of the time.

You got real suggestions. There was nothing left to be said after the real suggestions.
The real suggestions were and are to accept the battery use you are getting because it's pretty good. The only way you are going to see much better battery life is to invent a new kind of battery.
Now either accept that an enjoy your good battery life or be miserable about it somewhere else.
Oh, I just figured out some of the OP! Had to put punctuation where it belongs to make it a clear, coherent thought. They unplugged their phone at 9:30am and by 1:30pm it only had 61%...
I thought they were saying that they unplugged at 1:30pm and would be at 61% around 9:30pm. Which, from their own description of use, would be phenomenal. But even what they are getting is good.
Maybe if they used correct punctuation and paragraph breaks it would be easier to read and understand what they are trying to convey. It would be one thing to use a bunch of acronyms and shorthand, but periods in the middle of sentences and none at the ends makes what they wrote very hard to understand. The area where extended battery is mentioned is very confusing. I read it as the extended battery was "Showing 130% right now, unplugged; and by 9:30 it gets down to 61% with very heavy usage".

that sounds unreasonably bad. I'm on Joelz Prime, too, but I think only up to R40. I doubt there's anything in those last few commits to cause this, though. Try re-flashing, wiping battery stats, and give it a few cycles then reevaluate things. What apps are shown in the "Battery Use" settings menu?
Failing that, could be some hardware issue causing a short or something that's draining things... There have been cases where water or other damage can kill the battery life. Good luck.
I reflashed 3 times and still horrible battery life .
Water never got on my phone .

I dunno, then... try leaving it in Airplane mode for a little while, to see if it's something radio, etc.-related. otherwise, something's probably wrong with a hardware element somewhere along the line. I hope you're able to solve the issue.

I've read a tip to do this:
-get battery full before installing ROM
-wipe battery stats and flash new ROM
-Let it settle in, set it up a bit, then fill up the battery again
-go back to Recovery and wipe stats again, while it's full.
I'm not clear on the logic behind it - could be somebody's superstitions - but it's not a difficult step to take in the hopes that it does some good.
there are others who said they run a script at shut down to wipe them every time the phone reboots. Seems like everyone has their little tricks.
This may be a long shot, but my guess would be some kind of internal hardware issue. Maybe there's a problem with the micro USB port and it's not actually fully charging the batteries.
Shut the phone off and charge it till the lights green. And if you want any kind of battery life, sense is not the rom to be on. Especially 3.5.

There are tons of things that effect battery life and tons of things to save battery. Underclocking, undervolting, lengthning time between syncs, increasing wifi scan interval, lowering screen brightness, keeping running services to a minimum. However even with your phone set to max performance settings with all the bells and whistles on, you should still get more than 3 hours out of a charge. If multipul batteries give the same results, i would say its hardware related, or your charger is messed up and its not charging or messing up the batteries.

So, they have apparently sorted out the stock and supply problem. I <cough> borrowed the wife's credit card and have placed the order.
They say it will ship in 1 to 2 weeks, I can live with that.
The light-hearted question I have is, once I've gotten over the excited rush of playing with the phone for a while, what have your experiences been? Good or bad! I've heard that the battery life is not great but to be honest I am not so bothered with that. I have a charger and work, and home, in the car - I can even charge it at the pub/bar I go to
Keep an eye out for issues worthy of an RMA. From there, the only thing to expect is awesomeness. You'll want to calibrate the screen color and gamma, though.
Has battery life been that bad? Because I just ordered one myself to replace my wife's 3GS.

Utter tripe. You either have a rouge app, or you have the brighness turned up full or something else stupid.
I easily get a full day out mine with moderate use. It's about 50%-60% remaining when I get home in the evening from work.
I got around 3 hours of screen on time and a full 18-20 hours standby on stock rom with the usual useage of whatsapp and gmail syncing, with web use and texting etc, and now on custom rom, I am getting up to 4.5 hours screen on.
So, battery is good, phone is super fast and smooth, camera is great if you take time to learn how to use it and especially with HDR on and a bit of post picture editing. Only down side is music volume and quality which is average at best. In my opinion.
Thanks for the feedback. I just hope my wife can make the transition from iOS to android.
I think depending whether you are on WiFi or HSPA will make a huge difference for battery. From what I understand, when using HSPA, the standby battery life is horrible.
The screen is usually the single biggest threat to your battery. And the N4 can get 4-6 hours of "screen on" time depending on use. As others have said, it can be on standby for 15+ hours, but you can completely kill the battery in 4 hours or less if you are using a cpu intensive app.
Custom roms and battery saving apps can def help out though.
I ordered mine at 3pm on wednesday and it was with me by 3pm on thursday .. so slightly quicker than the 1-2 weeks they quote!
Unlock the boot loader, doesn't matter if you decide on staying stock or what. Having your boot loader unlocked right of the bat allows you to keep your apps if you do decide to root /flash.

You'll sadly probably find that the screen is *uneven* in it's tint (yellow probably) and brightness. Because it's uneven, "calibrating" will help a little maybe but will not fix any issues with the screen. On the other hand, with luck (which I wish you) you may find that your screen is pretty much perfectly uniform in brightness and tone top to bottom, left to right. (Check using the Mail app and minimise the keyboard) I've had 5 so far and none of them are acceptable to me. Otherwise the phone is truly incredible in use. Buttery smooth, responsive, great. The screen very generally is amazing too. It's just not even as it should be. Let me know how yours is - i'd be interested to know because if yours has good uniformity I'll order another. Good luck!

yes battery life is very bad on this device. in sleep/standby its great. but when you do something, it drains battery very fast. just 5minutes use and at least 10% are gone.

My drain is 1% per hour and I get more the 4hs screen time. Please, review your device and stop giving false statements.

How much do you believe turning off the data and just running the voice will save battery life?

What? No way lol you must be lucky then. Because even the shipping method says 2 day shipping. Unless you paid a bunch of money for overnight shipping?

So, they have apparently sorted out the stock and supply problem. I <cough> borrowed the wife's credit card and have placed the order.
They say it will ship in 1 to 2 weeks, I can live with that.
The light-hearted question I have is, once I've gotten over the excited rush of playing with the phone for a while, what have your experiences been? Good or bad! I've heard that the battery life is not great but to be honest I am not so bothered with that. I have a charger and work, and home, in the car - I can even charge it at the pub/bar I go to
